Stampin’ Up! Sophisticated Sled Bundle in Shaded Spruce

Good Saturday! What is your day like where you live? Here in New Jersey it is rainy and about 71 degrees. A day for staying inside! Wednesday I had a card class using the super fun Sophisticated Sled bundle. I love this card and this bundle…

Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled card front

I used several different products to make this card, but let’s begin with the card base – Shaded Spruce 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, then trim off on the long side 2 3/4. This panel becomes the background for the sled. :O) Next
I cut pieces of Sentimental Christmas DSP and adhered them to the card base: 4 x 2 1/2 (cut 2, one for card front top and one for inside); 4 x 2 3/4 (this is my stripe panel). And since there is some overlap here, I added a strip of Shaded Spruce 1/2 x 4.

Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled card inside

I stamped the inside top panel in Shaded Spruce ink with a stamp from Sophisticated Sled stamp set. Back to the card front… with the DSP
adhered, I added the 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 panel removed from the card base by centering it and added adhesive just to the top portion. Now the super fun part – the sled.

  • From Silver Foil Sheet (2 x 4) die cut the sled rungs and skate bottoms
  • From Basic White (2 x 2 3/4) die cut the skate shoes and laces
  • From Country Woods DSP (2 x 3 & note the direction of the grain) die cut the sled.
  • From Full of Life DSP die cut the green leaf spray. There are two layered together here, offset, so the variegation of the DSP shows.

Putting it all together…

  • Adhere the wood-grain Country Woods sled top to the silver sled rungs. NOTE: the sled top has tiny holes on each side – line those up with the silver cross bars. There are two parts to the sled top die cut, the second does not show as it is under the green spray, but that portion used to ‘guide’ the sled if someone was riding it. (Remember those days?) Adhere this piece in place at a silver cross bar.
  • Glue the two leaf sprays together in the center only, then add to the sled ‘cross bar’ in center only.
  • Skates shoes … there is a tiny slit to insert the laces, adhere those in place; add silver ‘skate’ to shoe bottom. Add left skate shoe to sled with dimesnionals, then right skate shoe with dimensionals on bottom of skate
  • Add sled to Shaded Spruce panel with dimensionals
  • Add Add Cherry Cobbler Adhesive-Backed Berries to green spray
  • Add White Loose Snowflakes as shown with dots of liquid glue. This is a bit fiddly but worth the effect/ look!

Now turn the card over to the back… to a Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 panel, add 3 die cut snowflakes using the Frozen Edges Dies. I die cut these from scraps of the Sentimental Christmas DSP. I added Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes on each of these – in gold, copper and white, adhered the panel in place and the card was complete!

Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled card back
Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled full card
Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled card & envelope

For the envelope… I cut a panel of Sentimental Christmas DSP 2 1/4 x 6 and adhered it to the flap & trimmed to fit. On the front I stamped the sentiment from Sophisticated Sled in Shaded Spruce ink. I stamped the bottom two times, then the final stamp on the side.

Love, love, love this card! Maybe because it brings back such fond memories of snow & sledding the hills of a golf course back home – really good memories.

LOTS GOING ON IN THE STAMPIN’ UP! WORLD – give me a few minutes to share the excitement…

Stampin’ Up! Magnolia Mood Thinking of you

Good morning – and today is Memorial Day – a time of remembering those who gave their lives for our country, that we might have the freedoms we all share. Whatever you plan for today – honor & remember these individuals.

My card today uses the absolutely gorgeous Magnolia Mood bundle that can be found in the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES.

Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood Bundle, card front

Basic Beige is the card base, a wonder neutral, and is 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2. I added a layer of Early Espresso 4 x 5 1/4, then a layer of Country Woods DSP 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. I die cut the very delicate image and additional leaves in Mossy Meadow card stock – from the Magnolia Mood Dies. Unfortunately, on this card, much of that is covered up, but it does show around the fringes of the hand-colored magnolia and seed pod.

Next, stamp the magnolia is Memento ink and color it with Stampin’ Blends: Petal Pink for the magnolia and buds; Daffodil Deloight for the flower center; leaves are a mix of Light Mossy Meadow, Light Old Olive and Light Wild Wheat. The seed pod is Daffodil Delight with shading of Light Wild Wheat at it’s base. I put a squeeze of Wink of Stella on an acrylic block and brushed that on the main flower & buds, following the shading lines on the image. In other words, I did not cover the entire flower! I also used Wink of Stella in the same fashion on the seed pod. Once colored, die cut both the seed pod and the flower images.

Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood image w/ Wink of Stella

I tried to photograph the image to show how it glitters. It shows just a bit.

I played with all the parts before settling with the final layout above. The delicate mossy meadow die cut was adhered with liquid glue, the large hand-colored image with dimensionals; the seed pod was tucked under & added with dabs of liquid glue, as were the additional leaves. For the sentiment, I turned over a remaining piece of the Country Woods DSP used on the card front and stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink. The sentiment comes from the Hope You Know stamp set, another ONLINE EXCLUSIVE. It is die cut with a die from Wonderful Thoughts Dies. As a final touch, I added three Opal Rounds Assortment in Daffodil Delight.

Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood card, inside

On the inside of the card… a layer of Early Espresso 4 x 5 1/4 adhered to the card base, inside. The flower bud was stamped in Memento ink (Magnolia Mood stamp s et) on the Basic White panel 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. I colored it similarly as the flowers on the card front: Stampin’ Blends – Light Petal Pink on the flower & bud, Light Mossy Meadow, Light Old Olive, Light Wild Wheat on the leaves. I added Wink of Stella to the flower & bud, same as the card front. This panel was adhered to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood card & envelope

For the envelope, another piece of the Country Woods DSP was adhered to the flap and trimmed tom fit. On the envelope front, same small flower from the Magnolia Mood stamp set, stampedn in Memento ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends as done on the inside of the card. I also added Wink of Stella to this flower & bud. TIP: remember when using Stampin’ Blends on an envelope, to slip another piece of scrap card stock inside so the blends do not bleed through to the envelope back!

Stampin’ Up! Wonderful World Take 2

Happy 4th folks! Lots to be thankful for in this country of ours. Yes, there is room for improvement, but I’m proud of the freedoms we have and wish others could have more of it. Revel in our county’s glory, just be safe about it! OK?

Today’s card is another sharing of the Wonderful World Bundle – FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $100 purchase from any SU! catalog.

Wonderful World Take 2.1

The Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch is perfect for these images on the Wonderful World 12 x 12 DSP, so I did just that & punched out three floral images. I mounted them on Pear Pizzazz card stock to bring out that soft green on the stems & leaves. Next I pulled out some Garden Green card stock… notice how the stems & leaves have a darker edging? I added 3/4″ Frayed ribbon in white then the framed floral images on dimensionals. For the card base… Thick Basic White in a standard A2 size. I covered it with a Basic White panel run through the Stitched Greenery die. I love this die and use it fairly often for background texture. Before attaching the Garden Green panel, I stamped the sentiment from Soft Seedlings stamp set in Garden Green ink – love this font! The final touch for the card front was attaching the Adhesive-Backed Sequins & Gems in Fresh Freesia. They bring out the iris for me :O)

Wonderful World take 2, inside

On a Basic White panel, I stamped the iris in Rich Razzleberry ink – it follows the iris from the front of the card! This piece was adhered to a Pear Pizzazz base then to the inside of the card.

Wonderful World take 2.3

For the envelope, more iris from the Wonderful World stamp set in Rich Razzleberry – both on the front and the flap. The distinctive stamps in this set are really quite wonderful – love, love. And you can get this bundle (DSP + stamp set) when you purchase $100 of SU! product – you kn ow, from me :O) And… I’ve begun this rewards program and doubled the rewards through July 7th. So don’t wait, don’t hesitate – shop now :O)

Stampin’ Up! Pop-Up Book Fold Card

Hello folks – it’s Thursday… and I have a fun fold card today. It’s called… Pop-Up Book Fold and it’s not as hard as you might think. As a matter of fact, I’m teaching this in my card class today. The scoring & cutting is a bit tricky for the inside and I strongly suggest looking at a video on YouTube and not just following my instructions. :O) I love this card, but I DO have to, ya know, pay attention when creating! Here’s the card…

Pop-Up Book Fold Card.1

I’ve used several products on this card… stamp sets: probably three, maybe four; Ladybug Punch (so fun!) , ribbon and embellishments, Stampin’ Blends. Layering, layering. How can we NOT do it?!

The DSP is Perfectly Penciled which I colored with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I could have colored the leaves but chose not to. This DSP already has some shading and I used that area for the Dark Daffodil Delight. I like how each flower is different – as they are in real life! Once colored this was layered on Basic Black. The Black & White Gingham ribbon was round around and secured in back with Stampin’ Seal. I then slipped another length under that and tied a bow, then secured it with a glue dot. I put dimensionals on the back and adhered it to the Daffodil Delight card base. I used the Charming Sentiments Bundle to create the sentiment, stamped in Memento ink and die cut with the Sentiment Silhouette Dies. I put dimensionals on the back and adhered it to a Basic Black piece die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies, then adhered it with liquid glue to the card front. Then came the sweet bee – punched with the Ladybug Punch. I simply cut thin strips of Daffodil Delight scraps and added them to the Basic Black body. The wings were punched from Vellum and added with a thin strip of dimensional. I added the completed bee to the card front with dimensionals. The final touch was a single Iridescent Rhinestone Jewel on the flower just above the bee.

Pop-Up Book Fold Card.2

For the Pop-Up insert… cut the panel 8 x 5 and score at 4 on the long side. With the short side up on the paper trimmer, measure down 1″ and cut from 1″ to the 7″ mark. Turn the paper 180 degrees and do the same on the opposite side. These are the only two cuts necessary to create the pop-up book. The rest is all scoring. It might be helpful to mark with pencil all the scoring lines so you don’t goof. :O)

  • With long side at the top and the right side of the paper on the 1″ mark beyond the trimmer, score from 1″ to 4″. Move the paper to the 1 1/2″ and score again from 1″ to 4″. Turn the paper 180 degrees and do the same on the opposite side.
  • With long side at the top of the trimmer and left side of paper at the 2 1/2″ mark, score 1″ to cutting line, both top & bottom. Again turn the paper 180 degrees and do the same on the other side.
  • Burnish all score lines and fold as shown in photo below. Also, refer to photo 2.

You will notice in photo 2 that I stamped all around the score lines and I did it after all lines were done. I think I would suggest stamping the entire sheet before scoring. I think it would look pretty neat that way. The leaf stamp comes from the Abigail Rose stamp set. It seemed to look similar to me to the DSP used on the card front. I stamped in Memento Black ink.

Decorate the ‘book’… (It’s helpful to decorate the ‘book’ prior to adding the insert to the card base.) Cut two panels of Daffodil Delight 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 and adhere. Cut two panels of Basic White 2 x 2 1/2. Stamp the sentiment fromHello Ladybug stamp set in Memento ink on one panel. Stamp with the flower from Hello Ladybug stamp set in Daffodil Delight surrounding the sentiment. Then use the same stamp to cover the other panel. Create another bee using the Ladybug Punch and adhere with liquid glue to the stamped all over panel. Add this to the left ‘book’ side. Adhere the sentiment panel to the right ‘book’ side. Decorate both with Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels on various flower centers. Here’s that photo again.

Pop-Up Book Card.2

The next sorta tricky part is adhering the insert to the card base. And I should have taken a photo of this step but was too excited and didn’t do it :o(

  • With the card base flat and the insert flat as well, adhere the right side only – outer edge and to the 2 1/2″ score line top & bottom. Center it.
  • Close the card with all scoring as it should lie. Adhere the left side: outside edge and top & bottom just to the 2 12″ score lines.

Stampin’ Up! Eden Wreath C’mas

Hello TGIF! We got our boat put away this week, before the winds and rain. When I say put away – that means we got it to our winter storage marina, they took it out, cleaned the bottom, removed the mast & put it on it’s trailer. But it isn’t parked yet in it’s permanent spot so we can’t cover it. 😦 With all the rain, it is now full of water and we’ll have to drain it before covering. Draining isn’t that difficult or time consuming, we just don’t know when it will get moved so it’s a ‘things happen in stages’ kind of thing – better known as a ‘waiting game’.

Let me tell you about getting it to the wintering marina because, you are going to belly laugh. This is a little sailboat – 16′, no motor. This time of year winds are either pretty fierce or non-existent and sailing in a little boat during fierce winds is not a good idea. We have to choose – and we chose a day when the winds were to be about 6 -8 mph, which is perfect. But guess what – there was next to no wind and we still had to move the boat, cause weather was setting in and we had to have it out of its slip. We paddled… and paddled… and paddled some more. Let me just say, we’ve had this boat since 1998 and there is always a new experience awaiting us. Thanks for listening/ reading, whatever. Life is all about new experiences and how we handle them, right?

The card for today is more of the Eden’s Garden products. It’s just beautiful DSP and the dies are fun. Remember it will be available to you Nov 2 so gear up.

Eden’s Wreath C’mas.1

The card base is Evening Evergreen; the next is Gold Foil and the gorgeous DSP is Ever Eden DSP that will be available only while supplies last – just sayin’ don’t wait if you want it. (My HOST CODE is listed later in this post!) The wreath is made with one of the dies in the Eden Dies I cut apart once it was die cut. (Let’s be clear… die cut the piece from Basic White card stock, then cut the paper apart – NOT THE DIE!) I played around with the cut pieces to make this the way I wanted it and used a circle template to try & keep it round. Once I had it the way I wanted, I put cut dimensionals on the back and adhered each section, sometimes layering. I added the bow using the Open Weave Ribbon in Soft Succulent, then added a length of Simply Elegant Trim in gold and attached it with a glue dot. The final step to the wreath was to add some Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels

The final step was a sentiment and I chose to use Evergreen Elegance stamp set for that. I love the font! I stamped it in VersaMark ink on a Basic White strip, sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder over it and heat set. Then I fussy cut it… the angles were just right to enhance the look of the wreath :O) I put dimensionals on the back and put it in place, then added three more Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a bit more elegance.

Eden’s Wreath C’mas.2

I stamped the sentiment – again from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set, in Evening Evergreen ink. There were some pieces of wreath remaining from the original die cut and I wanted use them, so adhered them with liquid glue. I think they add a nice touch. This was adhered to the inside of the card and the card itself was done.

Eden’s Wreath C’mas.3

For the envelope, I stamped one of the ‘fronds’ from Eden’s Garden stamp set in Soft Succulent ink onto the front of the envelope, the top & bottom in full strength, the middle in second generation. I covered the flap in another piece of the Ever Eden SDSP, trimmed it to fit & voila – the set was complete. :O) I really, really like this card: maybe it’s the colors, or the glam from the rhinestones, or the glitter of the sentiment, or the ribbon, or the SDSP ~ whatever it is, I like it.

If you would like to make this card, remember you can do one of two things: become a demonstrator & order now (you may do that here to do that with me) or order Nov 2 as a customer so you don’t miss out (Click here for that).

Stampin’ Up! Stitched Triangles Birthday

It’s Tuesday – do you have something F-U-N planned? It’s our son-in-laws birthday today and I’ve made a special card for him… He tends toward the modern and straight lines, so I decided to follow that. We also have a bag that one of his presents is in and that determined the colors for the card, cuz I wanted them to coordinate. Silly? Maybe, but there it is. The cloth bag has tones of brown & a beautiful blue – I decided on Bermuda Bay and it almost matches perfectly! For the brown I used Soft Suede and it’s just ok… I think it looks good on the card.

Stitched Triangles Birthday.1

I’ve used a RETIRED product – totally against the ‘rules’ but again, I wanted to use something that I thought our son-in-law would like. The retired item is Mercury Glass Designer Acetate in silver. A current item is the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate and I SHOULD HAVE used that, turned to the reverse side… but honestly I didn’t think of it. 😦 In my product list, Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate will show, cuz it will totally work!

Here’s what I did…

  • Die cut triangles from Pattern Party DSP – 2
  • Die cut triangles from Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate on the silver side – 2
  • Adhered them together offset – as shown in photo. using Stampin’ Seal (HINT/ TIP: Stampin’ Seal does not show through the acetate!)
  • Adhered to the card base – Thick Basic White as shown
  • Stamped sentiments from Biggest Wish stamp set: happy in Bermuda Bay ink and BIRTHDAY in Sahara Sand ink. I used the Stamparatus for this as it makes it really easy.
  • Added three Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins
Stitched Triangles n Birthday, inside.2

For the inside I did some creative die cutting with additional dies from the Stitched Triangles Dies.

  • On the left I die cut directly into the Basic White panel using the Stitched Triangles Dies
  • I die cut two fun ‘banners’ from Soft Suede card stock then Bermudas Bay card stock and adhered them together with liquid glue, off-set.
  • Adhere the Basic White panel to a Bermuda Bay panel, slightly larger, with Stampin’ Seal, then into the inside of the card, again with Stampin’ Seal – – – and the card was D-O-N-E.
Stitched Triangles Birthday.3

For the envelope…

  • Die cut a strip with one of the Stitched Triangles Dies from Bermuda Bay card stock
  • Adhere with dots of liquid glue to Soft Suede card stock the same length but slightly wider
  • Adhere to envelope with Stampin’ Seal – and both card & envelope are d-o-n-e. YAY… Gosh, I just looked at the photo and it’s hard to tell the Bermuda Bay from the Soft Suede <:(

I THINK our son-in-law will like this card – and his gifties. Such fun to create for others with what they like in mind.
