Stampin’ Up! Flowering Foils Gift Set

Today’s project features the incredible Flowering Foils Specialty DSP that is a free Sale-a bration item when purchasing $50 worth of product, and some of our alcohol Stampin’ Up! Blends. Let’s take a look…

Coloring on this paper is so relaxing – really a cathartic for me – not that I’m stressed or anything. It simply just really get’s me going… I took one sheet of the foils and broadly cut out all the flowers. Then I sorted them putting them is piles of like flowers. That’s when I could start the coloring process, and I colored maybe four of them, then began trimming, so I could raise up some of the petals. The card has three layers on top of the card base. Here’s more detail…

  • Thick Whisper White for the card base 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″; 3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″ for the inside
  • Lovely Lipstick 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ – cut 2, one is for the inside
  • Flowering Foils SDSP 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ for the front; 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ for the inside.

  • Color the flower using Light and Dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Up! Blends. Begin with the dark, coloring only one or two petals, then going back with the light to fill in. Complete the flower then go back and use the Color Lifter Blend to lighten areas that you think need it. This is where it really begins to look almost real 🙂 Curl the edges of the. petals using a bone folder.
  • Next do the leaves in Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Up! Blends. I didn’t use much color lifter on these, but did some.
  • Finally I colored the flower buds with the same Lovely Lipstick combination of blends.
  • Now do the trimming and layering process to your satisfaction. I colored some of those flowers that were on edges of the paper so they became the top layers of the flowers. Adhere the layers with dimensionals so it truly becomes a three dimensional project. The top flower needs the center colored and I used Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Blends for that. Keep curling the edges of the flower petals to get that “real” look.
  • I finally added Wink of Stella on the top couple of layers. I like the sparkle!
  • Add the bow: Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon and adhere with a glue dot.

The inside…,

  • Super simple: adhere the additional Whisper White panel to the extra Lovely Lipstick.
  • Add the colored 1/8″ strip of the SDSP to the left of the Whisper White.
  • Adhere the Lovely Lipstick to the inside… Card is complete!

The gift bag follows the exact instruction from Sunn Stampin’ – I encourage you to watch her video on this. I simply used a different Flowering Foils SDSP to create the bag, then I decorated it.

  • Lovely Lipstick 2 1/2″ x 11 1/2″, gently creased around the finished bag, then score those creases, adhere tear n’ tape to the ends and wrap around and attach to the bag.
  • The flower was a double flower from the SDSP and I colored it the same as above. Then I used another layer on the bottom flower, trimming the petals apart a bit while still keeping them intact.
  • The lower flower has a Perennial Essence Floral Centers for the inner portion. I considered using another for the upper flower, but it was too much. Curl the edges of the petals using your bone folder, but be very gentle – you don’t want to pull the petals off.
  • Adhere a Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon and bingo -done.

Thanks for making a second stop with me today. Do tell me what you think of these projects. I had such fun coloring and putting together. 😏

May you have a beautiful day.

Make someone happy by sending them a handmade card.

It’s Sailing Season – Here’s to Wind in Your Sails

The theme for this month’s blog hop is to create a card that has a masculine theme and we just worked on our Bull’s Eye sailboat to prepare it for summer sailing ~ what fun timing. The Sailing Home stamp set from the new 2019-20 annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue seemed a perfect starting point for creating this card for my hubby’s June birthday.

Here are some details of this fun fold card:

  • Pacific Point card stock cut to 8 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and scored at 2 3/4″
  • Whisper White card stock: 3 5/8″ x 7″ + a piece for the largest circle die in the Stitched Shape die set.
  • Garden Impressions DSSP (designer series paper) cut in 3 3/8 square + inside piece 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.
  • Come Sail Away DSP (from the 2019-20 SU! Annual catalogue) cut to 4 x 2 1/2″ x 4″ + a piece for the envelope flat 2 1/4″ x 6 (trim away excess after gluing to flap).
  • Other items needed: mini dimensionals, Night of Navy/ Sahara Sand twine (from the new catty), Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth sailing dies, Night of Navy and Pacific Point inks, glue dot to hold the twine in place.

Retiring list and 2019-20 Catalog cover

IMG_0154Wow, wow and wow! Attended local On Stage at Atlantic City yesterday. The new catalogue goes live in June, but as a demonstrator we get to see all the new “stuff”  ~ and they are really, really nice. New guidelines from admin say we can share photos of new products, so I’ll do some of that in this post. Also will share some of the cards we made during the day that showcases new sets. I’ll be posting more as the days go by, so STAY TUNED! :O)

Above is the cover picture of the new catty.

Not to be outdone… SU! Retires some items: stamps, embellishments, bundles.  They have updated the retiring list for the 2018-19 Annual Catalog with the current stamp sets that will be carrying over to the new catalog. Please know that stamp sets offered in clear mount or wood mount in the 2018-19 catalog that are carrying over into the 2019-20  will be offered in clear-mount and/o9r wood mount until existing inventory has been depleted or until June 4, 2019 (whichever comes first!). If the inventory is depleted, you will be notified of the automatic switch to cling when placing an order for that stamp set. All carryover rubber stamps will be available in cling medium only (with the exception of background stamps in North America) beginning Jun 4, 2019.

Here is the list of stamp sets that WILL be in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. The stamp sets on this list will not be retiring, they will simply be transitioned to Cling Mount moving forward:

SHARING SOME OF THE NEW PRODUCTS shown at local ON STAGE 2019 in Atlantic City yesterday.  Wow, wow and wow… SU! Has done it even better; they have “one-upped” themselves… I’ll be posting pictures a bit at a time so as not to overwhelm :o)

Country Floral embossing folder

The Country Floral embossing folder from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue is gorgeous!  I wasn’t going to get it, but all the posts showed these beautiful images and I couldn’t resist.

Today’s card is prepared using Petal Pink card stock (CS). The embossed layer is 4 X 5 1/4… spritz the paper first as this folder makes deep impressions and the spritzing allows the CS some “give” to accept those more easily. After embossing, allow to dry for just a bit. Then with Petal Pink ink and a sponge dauber, rub that color over the raised areas ~ love how gentle this coloring is and how it enhances the embossed design. Glue this piece to Petal Pink 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 CS.  Using the whisper white flax ribbon cut at about 6 1/2″ and wrap this around both pieces, adhering in back with glue dots. Then cut a piece of the whisper white polka dot ribbon at about 7″, placing this on top of the flax ribbon, using tape to adhere it on the back. Using the Pretty Label punch, create a label out of whisper white; rub the edges with Petal Pink, add your sentiment (I used one of my favorites from Perennial Birthday); add dimensionals and place on ribbon.  Using another short piece of the polka dot ribbon, tie a knot. Viola!  Attach all of this to the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of Petal Pink CS with dimensionals.  Card front is done :o) On the inside adhere a piece of whisper white cut at 3 3/4 x 5 with your favorite sentiment.

For the envelope flap, I embossed another piece of Petal Pink CS cut at 2 1/4 x 6, glued it to the flap and bingo, the card is ready.  Fun, easy, and lovely.

Fun Additions

Hi folks! Surprise – I’m actually blogging something…. what I have most fun doing is creating cards, and this blogging business is just not very comfortable to me – so please be patient, OK? All I’m going to do today is add some photos, talk a LITTLE bit about each/ or some and see where this goes.

This first card is special – a first try that turned out so cute! I should really include a picture of how it opens. It’s a kind of explosion card and since it was first try I made it small so as not to waste/ throw away card stock. Can you imagine? :o)

The second card on the right was really a fun and messy project but turned out so beautiful, I loved every bit of it. Using dampened tissue paper and sprinkling brusho onto the wet tissue created these neat colors. Once dry, crinkle the tissue, then gently spread it out without making it flat. Leave the crinkles in it! Glue this to your card stock crinkling it even more. Then put it through your big shot to flatten it. Embellish however you like. The buttflies are from the wonderful botanical butterfly DSP during Sale-a-bration.
