Stampin’ Up! Bright & Beautiful Gift Card

Good Memorial Day! Men and women gave their lives that we might be free ~ free to practice our faith, free to speak out, etc and etc. The list is pretty long of the freedoms we have that other countries do not. Thank you to those who served both us and our country ~ for your dedication, for your strength of character, for your willingness. Bless you. I am so very grateful.

My card today is a fun fold and could be used for graduation, a birthday, a job promotion, for just about any type of celebration. It includes a place for a gift card or money or an additional note.too.

Stampin' Up! Bright & Beautiful Gift Card

What a fun card to create. My juices were flowing. This card has three layers: card base, middle layer and the top decorated layer. I began with a card base of Azure Afternoon (what a beautiful shade of blue.) After scoring and burnishing, I punched the top two corners for a different look, using the Very Best Trio Punch. I added a layer of Blueberry Bushel to each of the three panels. The next layer is Bright & Beautiful 6×6 DSP on the top & bottom panels. For the center panel, I stamped with Azure Afternoon ink on a Basic White panel using the Beautiful Balloons stamp set. Next I attached an adhesive sheet to a small piece of the Bright & Beautiful DSP (part of the DSP Sale June 1!!!), removed the top of the adhesive sheet and added a piece of the Gold Celebrations Acetate. I die cut two balloons and a piece for the card holder. That acetate really added something special to the card! I added the smaller balloon to the center panel then added a length of the Simply Elegant trim in gold and adhered the Basic White panel to the center. The larger balloon was put on dimensionals and I added a bit of a tassel die cut from Gold Foil Sheets and attached these to the upper panel. I used the Radiating Stitches Dies to die cut a circle, then stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Balloons stamp set in Azure Afternoon ink. I used the 1 3/4 circle punch (from SU! ONLINE EXCLUSIVES) to punch an Azure Afternoon circle and adhered the two circles together. I added a Textured Ribbon in Wild Wheat to the top panel and placed the circle over (yep, it is on dimensionals as well.

For the bottom panel, I had added the Gold Celebrations Acetate to a Bright & Beautiful piece, then added the Tear n’ Tape to the sides and bottom and attached it to the card. And the card is done! Whoops – not quite… the ribbon at top… I punched an oblong opening using the Very Best Trio Punch, slipped another length of Textured Ribbon in Wild Wheat and tied it with a piece of Simply Elegant Trim in Gold.

Stampin’ Up! Zoo Crew Fun Fold

Good Saturday morning to you – and Memorial Day weekend. A special thank you to all those who have served in the military – you are honored and remembered… thank you for your service and dedication to this country.

My card for you today is a fun fold – called Triple Panel Pop-Up card. We made this in my class yesterday and everyone loved it. This fun fold can be used with lots of other stamps & dies, but the request from my students was to use Zany Zoo and the coordinating Zoo Crew DSP.

Stampin' Up! Zany Zoo funf fold

Is this alligator cute or what?! That look on his face says delight to me. And I’ve used him to make this a birthday card. My card base is a standard A2 Thick Basic White. Additional card stock for the front is embossed Pumpkin Pie (embossed with the Cross-Hatch embossing folder from the Basic Embossing Folders from the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES). This was layered onto a Pool Party panel and attached with liquid glue to the card base. All die cuts use the Zany Zoo dies: clouds, balloons, banner and the alligator. The alligator was die cut directly from one of the papers in Zoo Crew DSP. The balloons are die cut from scraps of Petal Pink, Lemon Lolly, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party. The clouds and banner are die cut from Basic White. The sentiment comes from Zany Zoo stamp set and is stamped in memento ink. I used the Black twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack to ‘attach’ the balloons to the alligator. The little back embellishments are from the Classic Matte Dots. Oh, & I wrapped Linen Thread around the banner for a bit more texture and masculinity :O).

Stampin' Up! Zoo Crew fun fold, inside

More fun animals for the inside of the card… all fussy cut from the Zoo Crew DSP. The DSP on the inside is from Zoo Crew DSP as well. Embossing folder used is the Hobnail Embossing Folder from the Basics Embossing Folders from the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES set of 3. Card stocks for the embossed panels are – from the top – Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Pumpkin Pie. The balloons are die cut from scraps of Lemon Lolly, Zoo Crew DSP, Petal Pink and Pool Party. The sentiment on the left panel is from the Zany Zoo stamp set and the embellishments are from the same pack of Classic Matte Dots but in Basic Gray.

Stampin' Up! Zany Zoo fun fold, back of card.

For the very back of the card… this fun skater of a bird fussy cut from Zoo Crew DSP and adhered to a Basic White panel. This panel is for writing your very own special message to the recipient. :O)

I bet you want directions, don’t you?! The mechanism for holding the three panels looks like this from the top ~

Stampin' UP Zany Zoo fun fold mechanism

Directions for mechanism:

  • Mechanism measurements: 3 x 5 1/4: score on short side @ 3/4, 1 1/2, 2 1/4
  • Fold score line and burnish
  • Fold ends to center, flattening and not overlapping
  • Add adhesive (liquid or tear n’ tape) to open ends, add directly to score line of card base
  • Panels will be added to this mechanism on opposite sides – what you see above is the top panel adhered to left side of mechanism. The middle panel is attached to the right side of the mechanism. Bottom panel is adhered same as top panel.

Triple panel dimensions/ directions:

  • cut 3 – 1 3/4 x 3 3/8
  • cut 3 – 1 5/8 x 3 3/8 (these are either embossed or DSP)
  • Add the embossed or DSP pieces to the larger cuts
  • Adhere top & bottom panels first to assure proper spacing: remember these are attached to the left side of the mechanism.
  • Adhere center panel to the right side of mechanism.
  • Decorate as desired

Card base & other piece measurements:

  • Card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored @ 4 1/4
  • Front panels: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8; embossed piece 4 x 5 1/4
  • Inside left: 3 1/4 x 5 1/4; 3 x 5
  • Inside right: 4 x 5 1/4 DSP
  • Back: 4 x 5 1/4

Here are photos of student cards: notice the card base is Pool Party.

Stampin’ Up! Let’s Go Fishing Fun Fold for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop Group

Our hop for this week is “for the men/ boys’ and we can interpret that any way we like. I have a twin brother who likes to carve – and one of the ‘beasts’ he likes to carve is fish. He lives in Oregon and while I have not physically seen the fish he has carved, he is a detail-oriented man and has a real talent with color & design, and this just seemed like a fun idea to me, to create a card around fish. The Let’s Go Fishing DSP in the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog is really beautiful. The colors are soft – and well, just perfect. I must now order the stamps, dies, etc.!

Stampin' Up! Amy's Inkin' Krew Blog Hop Group
Stampin' Up! Let's Go Fishing Fun Fold. Tue hop 5/9

I’ve used Boho Blue for my card base cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2, 6 3/4 and 8 7/8. I added layers of Copper Clay to various panels: (2) 4 1/8 x 4 1/8, 3 x 3 (this is on dimensionals) and 1 1/8 x 4 1/8. DSP layers are 4 x 4 and 1 x 4. The Very Vanilla inside layer is 4 x 4. On it is a die cut from Very Vanilla layered onto Pecan Pie. I SHOULD HAVE used Copper Clay ink for the stamping and for the layer for the sentiment!!! It was a goof :O) Ok, where was I ??? :O)

Using the side view, you can see where the facing panel of Copper Clay & DSP are adhered. . on that of course, is the square set on it like a diamond – attached with dimensionals. The Boho Blue panel was run through the Splatters & Stripes Embossing Folder – you know, fish & bubbler! The fish were fussy cut and also added with dimensionals. A few 2023-2025 In Color Dots were added to the diamond shape and one just off, hopefully making it look like bubbles from the fish. C’mon, use your imagination…

Stampin' Up! Let's Go Fishing Fun Fold, side view
Stampin' Up! Let's Go Fishing Fun Fold, inside of card

For the inside of the card, a panel of the Copper Clay then a Very Vanilla panel stamped and with a stamped sentiment die cut. The fun stamped corners are from He’s All That stamp set – a very masculine stamp set. The sentiment is also from that same stamp set, stamped on Very Vanilla and die cut with All That Dies.. I die cut another layer in Pecan Pie, cut it down the middle and added each to the underside of the stamped piece. That got put on dimensionals so the upper portion had something to lean against or ‘stand’ against.I added two 2023-2025 In Color Dots to make the sentiment more pronounced.

Let’s see, I think I forgot one step – the 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 Copper Clay piece with the 1 x 4 Let’s Go Fishing DSP… that all added with liquid glue. The pictures are showing the perfect placement.

I think that’s it. GADS… Did I totally mess with your mind with those directions??? You will see some fun creations today, so take a peak around the various links. Stampin’ Up! Let’s Set Sail for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

We have a fun theme challenge today for our scheduled weekly hop – outdoors!

Stampin' Up! Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop
Stampin' Up! Hop Challenge
Stampion' Up! Let's Set Sail. hop 4/20

This is a fun fold… hmmm what do we call this? Side fold? I don’t know. but let me tell you how to make this…

The card base is cut 8 1/4 x 4 1/4 and scored on the long side at 5 1/2. I used the new Misty Moonlight for the base. It has just a hint of gray in it. And it’s perfect for a sailing card :O) I cut a panel of the Sun Prints DSP in stripe 2 1/2 x 4 (yep, it’s retiring and I’m trying to use it!). This was adhered to the left front fold. I wrapped a length of Baker’s Twine (carrying over!) from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack in Crumb Cake around it twice and tied a knot, which I adhered with a glue dot right at the knot. For the inside, I added a piece of another design but also from Sun Prints DSP, to the right inside of the card base (4 1/8 x 5 3/8). THEN… I cut Basic White card stock 7 1/4 x 3 1/2 and scored it at 3 5/8. This becomes the right-sided fold that flips over the front left panel of the card base. I stamped the two sentiments in Misty Moonlight ink (new!) from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set (retiring!) I then added this basic white folded piece to the card base, as shown.

Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail fun fold
Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail fun. fold, left side
Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail front image

For the front of that Basic White addition , I added another piece of the Sun Prints DSP (retiring!) to the front of that fold. It was cut 3 3/8 x 3 3/8. Now to decorate that square… Using the Stylish Shapes Dies largest circle, I die cut a piece of the Hues of Happiness DSP (yep, retiring). I stamped the bird image from Let’s Set Sail in Memento ink, then added that circle with dimensionals. Now… the sailboat :O), the boat was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink; the sails were stamped in Crushed Curry ink, then punched with the Sailboat Builder Punch. I added the boat directly to the circle, then attached the sails with mini dimensionals. And guess what, the card was done.

Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail card & envelope for the Thur hop

For the envelope… more of the Sun Prints DSP on the flap trimmed to fit and another narrow strip added to the bottom of the envelope front. This is yet another great masculine card for my stash – yay!

My demonstrator order of new products arrived from Stampin’ Up! late last night. Somehow it got ‘lost in the shuffle’ and finally arrived. I cannot WAIT TO PLAY!!! What will I play with first? Probably the daisies… I’m a daisy FAN! :O) But who knows?

Time to move on in the hop… click the ‘next’ button to visit Carol, or click on a name if you want to skip around. Enjoy!

Stampin' Up! Hand Penned Fun Fold
Stampin' Up! Hand Penned Fun Fold, inside

This is a great card to show off both sides of the Designer Series Paper. In this case, that is Perfectly Penciled DSP (retiring). I’ve coordinated the Hand Penned stamp set (retiring) and the Penned Flowers Dies (retiring), Polished Pink card stock (retiring), Polished Pink & Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends (retiring) + the Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya (retiring). Yep – I loaded this card with retiring items :O)

What is not retiring that is used on this card are the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends (still a great buy when you order $75 & up of product on FREE SHIPPING day), Basic White card stock, Memento ink, Basic White Medium Envelopes. Did I forget anything?

So the ‘how to’ to make this card.

Begin with your Perfectly Penciled DSP cutting it 5 1/4 x 12 and scoring on the long side @ 2, 4, 8, and 10″. Measure down from the top on each end, 2 5/8″ and place a mark on the edge. Now trim from the 4″ score line to the 2 5/8″ mark on the left side. Do the same on the right side, trimming from the 8″ score down to the 2 5/8″ mark. Adhere those pieces to each corner edge (see the dotted pattern in each bottom corner? Burnish the folds completely.

Cut a backing card base (in this case Polished Pink) 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and adhere to the back of the DSP. This creates strength for the card.

Stampin' Up! Hand Penned fun fold, back of card

Cut another piece in Polished Pink 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Adhere this panel with corner points on the burnished score line, with adhesive on the left side only. Adhere a Basic White panel cut to 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 to the Polished Pink square. Now decorate!

For decoration… Using the Hand Penned stamp set, I stamped this fun floral image in Memento ink on Basic White, colored it with Stampin’ Blends: Polished Pink, Pale Papaya and Old Olive. I die cut the image with the coordinating Penned Flower Dies and attached it to the Basic White square with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment in Memento ink on a Basic White scrap – yes, also from Hand Penned stamp set – and fussy cut it. This was attached with dimensionals as well. I tied a bow with the Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya and attached it with a glue dot. Front, done!

For the inside.. the Basic White panel is cut 3 3/4 x 5. I wanted to be certain when stamping the inside, that nothing showed when the card was closed. I ‘eyeballed’ a bit lower than center and stamped the sentiment from Hand Penned stamp set in memento ink. I then stamped the flowers, also from Hand Penned stamp set, in Polished Pink ink. I attached this panel to the inside – and voila! a fun fold and gorgeous!

Stampin' Up! Hand Penned fun fold, card & envelope

For the envelope… more of the Perfectly Penciled DSP to the flap, trimmed to fit. For the front… a sweet stamped flower in Polished Pink ink from the Hand Penned stamp set.

I want to see what you create with this fun fold, retiring DSP or new. Enjoy creating!

Thanks for stopping by. May you have a beautiful day.

Stampin’ Up! TriFold Shutter Card

Happy Friday! Fun folds are just that, fun. And sometimes easier than they look. I’m sharing a trifold shutter card today that really is quite easy and is a real “show off”. It’s a card within a card. :O) I’ve used Fancy Flora DSP (again!) as it has what I call, a continuous pattern. To coordinate with that, I also used the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and it’s coordinating Two-Tone Dies.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with DSP

This begins with a full length of card stock 11 x 5 1/2, scored on the long side at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 5 1/4 and 7. I used Petal Pink card stock for this. Burnish the score lines: mountain, valley, mountain and valley. The next step is to place this on the paper trimmer with the short side to the top and at 1 1/4. Cut from the 1 3/4 score line to the 5 1/4 score line. Turn it over and do the same on the other side. It should look like this.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card

Cut Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper: it’s helpful to use a DSP that has a continuous pattern and this works really well. Remove 1″ from the top of the 6×6 piece. With the long side at top, cut four pieces 1 1/2 x 5, keeping them in order. Adhere pieces 1 & 4 to the first & fourth panels of the card stock. With the bottom end of the two remaining pieces, trim to 1″ and attach to panels 2 & 3, following the continuing pattern. Turn around and with top of those two strips, cut 1″ from top. Attach those to the tops of panels 2 & 3. That leaves centers of panels 2 & 3 blank. Making certain to follow the continuous pattern of the DSP, trim the remaining piece that coordinates with panel 3. It should measure 1 1/2 x 2 1/2. Now cut a 2 3/4 square with a coordinating card stock. I chose Soft Suede. Cut another piece of Soft Suede 7 1/2 x 5, score on long side @ 3 3/4. Burnish and add to back 4″ panel of the Petal Pink card base. This is what makes the card within a card.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter card in steps

Cut a piece of Basic White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 (cut 2) for the additional card panels. Cut a piece of Basic White 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 for the very front of the card. Adhere this square to the 2 3/4″ square.

Stamp the two panels that are 3 1/2 x 4 3/4: one is for the inside of the back card, while the other is for it’s front. Use Soft Suede ink to stamp the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set and add to the ‘back’ card front. On the other panel, same size, stamp the flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set, in stamped off Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the detail of that flower with full strength Calypso Coral ink. Adhere both to the appropriate panels.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter card.. full length
Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with inside card

Notice another panel of DSP on the opposite side of the stamped panel – yep.. that’s a piece of the Fancy Flora DSP, but the reverse side :O) All that’s left to do now is decorate the 2 1/2″ square on the card front. On a scrap of Basic White, stamp the flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set in stamped-off Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the more details flower patten with full strength Calypso Coral ink. Die cut the flower with Two-Tone Flora Dies. Stamp two sets of leaves in Evening Evergreen ink as it coordinates with the DSP :O). Die cut with Two-Tone Flora Dies. Attach the two leaf sets to the back of the flower with dimensionals. See photo.

Stampin' Up! Two-Tone Flora flower

Add more dimensionals to the back of the flower. Attach a length of the Open Weave Ribbon in Soft Succulent to the Basic White square. Attach flower over the ribbon to the Basic White square of the card front. With the card closed, add three large Iridescent Pastel Gems in Calypso Coral, then two small Iridescent Pastel Gems in Calypso Coral.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with Fancy Flora

For the envelope… more Fancy Flora DSP to the envelope flap. For the envelope front, stamp the same flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set with stamped-off Calypso Coral ink, and the detail stamp with full strength Calypso Coral ink. DONE!!!

This DSP is retiring and it’s stunning. The ribbon is also retiring, as is Soft Suede card stock & ink, and Evening Evergreen ink. The Iridesent Pastel Gems are also retiring.

Stampin’ Up! By the Bay Fun Fold + Designer Series Paper Share Info

Good Wednesday morning! We have beautiful weather temps today, but there is a brush fire somewhere making everything very smoky :O( Ugh. My card today is using a retiring DSP, By the Bay and a carrying over product Something Fancy stamp set & it’s coordinating Something Fancy Dies. And… I’m frustrated… my box of new goodies from Stampin’ Up! is ‘stuck’ somewhere and has yet to be delivered. But this By the Bay is just stunning Designer Series Paper. So let’s take a look at the card ~ and I’ll get past this disappointment.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold

This begins with a Balmy Blue card base 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. With the long side up, remove 2 3/4 of the length. Set that piece aside as it becomes that front extended panel :O) Begin layering… Basic White 2 1/2 x 4 on the front left panel and on the set aside piece (cut 2). Layer on that the By the Bay DSP cut 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 (cut 2). What I did here was use the shell pattern for the front and the reverse side of the DSP for the side panel. I wrapped a length of the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack in Crumb Cake around the front panel and tied a bow. I then die cut a Balmy Blue using the Something Fancy Dies, put dimensionals on it and secured it over the twine. I secured the bow in place with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set on a Basic White piece with Balmy Blue ink and die cut it with the next smaller die from Something Fancy Dies. This was adhered with dimensionals to the Balmy Blue banner. I then took this completed front panel and attached it only on the left side to the left front of the card.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold, inside

For the inside… I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set in Balmy Blue ink on the Basic White panel (4 x 5 14), making certain it would not peek out from behind the front flap of the card.. I adhered this in place with my adhesive of choice, green glue. You can certainly use Stamp[in’ Seal if that is your preference. Once in place, I closed the front of the card and added these Balmy Blue Solid Faceted Gems (retiring!)

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold card & envelope

On the Envelope… more of the By the Bay DSP on the flap trimmed to fit and the card/ envelope are ready to send. This goes out to my hubby’s sister who is recovering from a stroke. I’m trying to send a card a week so she knows we are thinking of her & giving encouragement. She is such a dear sweet soul!

Stampin’ Up! Fancy Flora Step Fun Fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the hop! This is a talented group of folks with whom I am privileged to participate. And this week we have a color challenge!

Stampin' Up! Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop 3/6
Stampin' Up! Blog Hop Color Challenge 3/6

The colors I chose were Orchid Oasis, Calypso Coral , and Soft Succulent . Plus of course, the Fancy Flora DSP that brings it all together. Here’s my Step Fun Fold.

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold.hop 3/6

I used Orchid Oasis as the card base, cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. I also used the Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP for the main focus. I wanted a continuity, all of it cut to piece together like a puzzle. And, I think it worked! I also stamped the flower in Calypso Coral ink and the leaves in Soft Succulent ink for the ferny kind of leaves, and Evening Evergreen ink for the 2 leaves. I used the Two-Tone Flora stamp set & Two-Tone Flora Dies to create the flowers & leaves. The sentiment is stamped using the Something Fancy stamp set with Orchid Oasis ink on a Basic White panel and die cut with the Something Fancy Dies. I added three small Pearl Basic Jewels around the die cut flower for a bit of femininity.

It stands like this…

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold.hop 3/6,side view

This is a side view when standing, so you can see how it folds and makes a ‘step’. It’s super easy, you just must be extra careful making the cuts correctly and the score lines. The template below should guide you.

It’s easier to show a template with score lines and cuts than to explain it. Here that is… dotted lines are score lines. You may need to enlarge this to see it better :O)

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold Template

On the back of the card is Basic White panel stamped using the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and Orchid Oasis ink. Please understand, there are two places this panel could be placed: on the back as I did here, or on the inside. Since this card was going to my hubby’s sister, he got to choose the placement :O)

Stampin' Up! Back side of Step Fun Fold
Stampin' Up! fully open Step Fun fold
Stampin' Up! inside Step Fun Fold

It’s clear here, the stamped panel for the back, the full card open (just not standing!), and the inside of the card – again where a stamped panel could be placed.

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold card & envelope

For the envelope, more of this gorgeous Fancy Flora DSP on the flap and some fun stamped flowers in Orchid Oasis ink from the Two-Tone Flora stamp set. Gorgeous, gorgeousness. Hope you like… my hubby was thrilled to send this to his sister.

Stampin’ Up! Friends Are Like Seashells Book Fold

Good Sunday morning – actually, Palm Sunday morning. Spring is definitely in the air. I ordered several Hellebores (Lenten Rose) and they arrived this week. It’s been too cold at night to plant them yet (30 degrees) and it’s best to try to acclimate plants a bit at a time anyway. Yesterday it was 60 degrees so I took them outside is a shaded sun area, then was able to leave them overnight as temps didn’t go too low. I was able to do the same with coleus I had rooted from last years plants then potted – and they look super this morning.

You did not join me to talk about plants… this is another book fold with By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP ( I was on a roll) but I used a seashell pattern and paired it with Friends are like Seashells bundle. Love this bundle & I’m sad it’s going away… but it is time to make room for new :O) I also used the Lasting Label Punch for the sentiment banner and Faux Sea Glass Shapes to decorate the banner – all of which will be retiring as of May 1. Don’t you love those Sea Glass Shapes?!

Stampin' Up! Friends Are Like Seashells book fold

For this card I began with Night of Navy cut 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2 & 6 3/4. I adhered the section to the card back between 5 1/2 & 6 3/4 to create the book fold, then decorated the front panels. See the image below for how it should look.

Stampin' Up! Book Fold w/ Friends Are like Seashells

First a layer of Balmy Blue then a layer of the By the Bay 6×6 DSP. I pulled out the Friends Are Like Seashells bundle for the sentiment and a coordinating shell. I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink on Basic White, punched it with the Lasting Labels Punch, then used a Coastal Cabana Marker to decorate the edge. For even more sea-likeness, I added the Faux Sea Glass Shapes. Aren’t they fun? I stamped the sea shell in Sahara Sand ink on another Basic White piece & die cut it with the Seaside Seashells Dies. I added the decorated label to the card front with dimensionals, then the seashell right beside it, also on dimensionals. Really & truly, the DSP does all the work on this card.

Stampin' Up! Friends Are Like Seashells inside

For the inside I kept it really simple… a strip of the DSP on the Basic White panel and that was it. Since the inside panel is only 4 x 4, there is not a lot of room, and with a sentiment as is on the front, a personal note is usually needed.

Stampin' Up! Friendas Are Like Seashells card & envelope

For the envelope, more of the By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP on the flap and then some fun seashells from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set on the front: inks used were Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy & Balmy Blue, bringing out like colors of the DSP on the card front.

These are all retiring products: the By the Bay Specialty DSP, Friends Are Like Seashells bundle and the Fancy Label Punch and will go away as of May 1. As with all things retiring, there is a retiring list for both the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog AND the Jan-Apr 2023 Mini Catalog. These items are available while supplies last… and the sale beings 4 April through 1 May.

Stampin’ Up! By the Bay Book Fold Card

Good morning folks! It’s Saturday… and I have a masculine card for you using the By the Bay Designer Series Paper. This is for a gentleman who just had a hip replacement and is struggling with being able to do things. Thankfully he just began rehab, but he’s a bit ‘under the weather’ you might say. He’s a really big man and that’s part of the trouble… moving isn’t easy. So, a card for encouragement!

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Book fold

Isn’t this paper pretty? It’s also masculine and that helps me keep it simple. I really like how these papers coordinate and in corporate other shades of blue and bring in Sahara Sand and some sparkly as well. I used Wisteria Wishes stamp set for the sentiment and Night of Navy ink. To die cut, I used two dies from Something Fancy Dies (carrying over!) and die cut the larger in Night of Navy and the sentiment is Basic White. I wrapped Linen thread around each end of the Basic White piece (this fellow is a sailing friend and it fits), tied knots then added it to the Night of Navy piece with dimensionals. Then onto the card base with liquid glue. I added Sea Glass embellishments to tie in the colors of the DSP.

So… book fold how to:

  • Card base is 4 1/4 x 11 scored @ 5 1/2 and 6 3/4. Burnish the score lines
  • Add adhesive to the area between score lines and secure to the unscored section of the card. And there you have it, the book fold!

My card base is Balmy Blue – a carry over color. :O) The layers on the card are Night of Navy (carry over color) and the DSP. I’ll put the measurements at the bottom of the post. For the inside Idid not add the layer of Night of Navy, but did add a 5/8 strip of the By the Bay DSP to the Basic
White panel.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay book fold, inside

This inside leaves plenty of room for words of personal encouragement for this gentleman. For the envelope, I again kept it really simple… more By the Bay DSP on the envelope flap and that was it. This man does not want fussy.
