Stampin’ Up! Whitewash Technique with Daisy Garden

This is a new technique for me ~ and I loved it. For one thing, I enjoy coloring and that’s helpful with so many flowers to do – lol. And I’ve prepared two cards… one is silver embossed while the other is stamped with Misty Moonlight ink. Both are done on Misty Moonlight card stock.

Whitewash w/ Daisy Garden & Embossing.1

With the photo on the left, I inked the Daisy Garden stamp with my VersaMark ink pad then stamped it on the Misty Moonlight card stock that had first been rubbed with my embossing buddy to remove any static or finger prints. I sprinkled the image with silver embossing powder and heat set it. While it was cooling, I prepared my acrylic block by placing it on the White stamp pad to get a good amount of ink on it. I also added a dab of White reinker to the same block. Then I set to coloring using my blender pen as the tool of choice. I colored all the flowers with a basic layer of white ink then followed by adding more white where I wanted it. I used the reinker for additional highlights. I attached this to a Basic White panel with liquid glue, put dimensionals on the back then added that to the Misty Moonlight card base.

Whitewash Technique w/ Daisy Garden.2

With this photo, I stamped the Daisy Garden (yes, using my Stamparatus) with Misty Moonlight ink. I then took an acrylic block and ‘inked’ it on the White stamp pad. I did this by simply putting the acrylic block directly to the ink pad and lifting it. I also added a drop of White reinker to the block. I used my my blender pen as a paint brush to add color to the flowers. As the ink dries it becomes more pale and therefore more coloring is needed to get the desired amount of white to the flowers. I used the drop of reinker when I wanted more highlights in detail and this shows nicely in this photo. it does not show as well on the silver embossed card – at least not in the photo. I added the panel to a Night of Navy piece, wrapped a length of Seam

Binding ribbon around it and tied a knot. I put dimensionals on the back and adhered it to a Basic White card base. I added another small bow with a glue dot, then three Pearl Basic Jewels. I will do the same sentiment as the above card, but use Misty Moonlight ink in lieu of embossing. It will get dimensionals & be added on top of the ribbon. I simply forgot!!!

On the embossed card I made what I call a ‘fussy bow’ using the Seam Binding Ribbon in White and the Silver Cording from the Simply Elegant Trim pack. (This is a great bow for hand delivered cards!) For the sentiment on the front, I used the Love & Happiness stamp set, stamped it in VersaMark ink then sprinkled with Silver Embossing powder and heat set. I put dimensionals on the back and and added it appropriately. For a final touch, I added three Pearl Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

For the inside of these cards…

Whitewash Daisy Garden, inside.3
Whitewash daisy garden, inside.4

For both cards I stamped the sentiment from Love & Happiness stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on a Basic White panel. For the card on the left, the panel was adhered directly to the inside of the Misty Moonlight card base. For the card on the right, I adhered the panel to a Night of Navy piece then into the Basic White card.

Love this technique and can’t wait to do it again, using another floral stamp!

Stampin’ Up! Z Fold Window Card

Hello Friday! It’s been a busy week here and what we’ve got today is a fun fold for Valentines. And these are for our grand kids :O) I think they are going to like them. I’ve used Sunshine & Rainbows 6×6 DSP (FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order – just sayin’) and some of the new stamp bundles from the Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog.

For the card on the & far left I’ve used the Brilliant Rainbows Dies to get the rainbow, die cut directly from the Sunshine & Rainbows 6×6 DSP! And I used the Cloud Punch to create the clouds, again, directly punching them from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP. The little heart is from the Sweet Hearts Dies.

For the middles card I taken the heart from the Love & Happiness bundle – using the Bouquet of Love dies and the smaller heart. The sentiment panel is a die from that same set, while the sentiment is from Love & Happiness stamp set.

For the far right cards: heart, flowers and sentiment banner are all from the Bouquet of Love Dies. The DSP is another of the Rainbows & Sunshine 6×6 DSP.

OK, I got theses in reverse order! But you can still see they are all different while still being the same fold. And here’s the full view of the inside when it’s pulled fully open.

Z Fold Valentines

Sweet conversations stamp set for the hearts & both sentiments.

Sweet Conversations stamp set for the sentiments on the center; Happy & heartfelt for the sentiment on the flap; and the tiny hearts are from Rainbows of Happiness stamp set.

Z Fold Window card, inside

The sentiment & hearts are from Rainbows of Happiness stamp set.

Directions for creating this fun fold are super easy.

  • Card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Basic White panel is 8 x 5 1/4, scored at 4″ & 6″
  • The Designer Series Paper is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (front panel); 1 3/4 x 5 (inside panel) and 1/2 x 4, all from the same DSP piece, just turned over to use the opposite side
  • Adhere the DSP to the card front and cut the window with the Layering Circles Dies. I found it helpful to run it through twice for a sure cut.
  • Stamp the Basic White panel as desired, then adhere to the inside of the card as shown.
  • You may at this point chose to die cut additional circles, just be certain to use the same size as the circle cut from the card front – so it covers the entire window opening. Adhere all pieces together.
  • Close the card and adhere the circles making certain to put adhesive only on the side that attaches to the fold :O). It’s best to adhere when the card is closed, so the circle fits the window perfectly.
  • Now finish decorating the circle as desired, making certain nothing interferes with the closure. Finis!

Stampin’ Up! Flowering Fields DSP Just a Note

Happy Monday! It’s bright & sunshiny here today, but brrrr cold. I hope you had a cozy weekend, a time to relax and a time to play with maybe just a little bit of work mixed in – balance. It’s all about balance, isn’t it?

Today’s card is another using this fabulous tulip pattern from the Flowering Fields 12 x 12 DSP pack. I really like this pattern and well, I just needed to create with it again. :O) This is such a fun layout and a post by Amy Koenders way back in November inspired me. Yesterday I posted a card made with this same pattern of DSP but bordered with Poppy Parade. Today I’ve used Pear Pizzazz and it gives the DSP a different look. The background paper is from this same pack, just not the flowery side 🙂 Here are the details…

Flowering Fields Just a note.1`
  • Prepare a card base (Pear Pizzazz) 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2
  • Cut a panel of Flowering Fields DSP 3 1/2 x 4 3/4; cut in half lengthwise; cut right half 1 3/4 x 1 3/4, then 1 3/4 x 2 3/4
  • Adhere pieces to Pear Pizzazz: 1 7/8 x 4 7/8; 1 7/8 x 1 7/8; 1 7/8 x 2 7/8. Put dimensionals on back and adhere, large left panel first, the the right pieces.
  • Slip a length of Crinkled Seam Binding in White behind the lower panels and tie a bow, securing at the knot with a glue dot.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Flowing Flowers stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink on a Basic White strip; trim right end at an angle; put dimensionals on back and add over the ribbon.
  • For a final bit of bling, add three Opal Rounds ~ and the card front is done!
Flowering Fields w/ Flowering Rain Boots, inside

For the inside…

  • Stamp the leaves from Flowering Rain Boots in Pear Pizzazz ink on a post it note & fussy cut to create a mask – set aside
  • Stamp the leaves from Flowering Rain boots in Pear Pizzazz in on a Basic White panel 4 x 5 1/4
  • Lay the mask on top of the leaves and stamp the flower pot in Calypso Coral ink, again using the Flowering Rain Boots stamp set
  • Stamp the flower tops in Poppy Parade ink, making sure to only stamp the needed flower heads. And yes, these are from Flowering Rain Boots stamp set.
  • Using a Stamparatus for proper alignment, stamp the sentiment from Flowing Flowers stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink.
  • Add panel to the inside of the card with liquid glue.

For the envelope….

Flowering Fields Just a Note.3

All I did to the envelope is simply add the same Flowering Fields 12 x 12 DSP that I used for the background on the front of the card, to the envelope flap ~ and it’s ready for mailing! If the mailman hasn’t arrived yet, this will go to a friend who just had a knee replacement. She loves a handmade card!

So, what do you think? Like this card? Or do you prefer yesterday’s card? Here it is for a comparison.

Flowering Fields B’day

Interesting how similar and yet different these two cards are, just by using different coordinating card stock and some trimming. Would love to know if you have a preference between the two.

Stampin’ Up! Flowering Fields DSP Birthday

I have a beautiful card for you today, one in which the Designer Series Paper does all the work. The DSP is called Flowering Fields 12 x 12 and it truly is something else.

Flowering Fields DSP b’day.1

I inked two new stamp sets today – and one is called Flowing Flowers – see the sentiment on the card? That’s from Flowing Flowers. I love this font! It’s fresh & light. Here’s what I did to make the card…

  • Card base is Pool Party 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2
  • Flowering Fields DSP is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2; adhere to the card front
  • Poppy Parade 1/8 x 5 1/2 (cut 4); adhere one length on each side of the DSP
  • Using the Flowing Flowers stamp set, stamp sentiment in Poppy Parade ink on a Basic White scrap; die cut with an Ornate Frames die; adhere with dimensionals as shown
  • Tie a bow using the Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya and adhere with a glue dot. Done!

For the inside….

Flowering Rain Boots for Flowering Fields DSP B’day, inside

  • Using the Flowering Rain Boots stamp set, stamp the stems/ leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink. Stamp the coordinating flowers in Blushing Bride ink
  • Adhere the panel to the inside of the card base.
  • Add the two lengths of Poppy Parade strips to each side – done!

For the envelope…

Flowering Fields DSP B’day.3

Stampin’ Up! Flowering Fields DSP and Amazing Thanks Dies

The January to June 2022 Mini Catalog is full of absolutely amazing project ideas, new stamp & die sets AND new Designer Series Papers. I hadn’t played much with the Flowering Fields DSP, so when I began doing so, well, I fell in love with it. I saw a layout on Pinterest that I decided to use and adapted it to this card.

Flowering Fields / Amazing Thanks Dies.1

Isn’t that DSP beautiful? I love how gentle the flowers look, sort of blowing in the breeze. And here’s how I made this card.

  • Cut a panel of Rich Razzleberry 4 1/8 x 5 3/8; run it through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder; adhere with liquid glue to the Basic White Thick card base
  • Cut a panel of Basic White 3 x 3 1/2 and run it through the Meadow Moments embossing folder; adhere as shown with liquid glue
  • Cut a length of Flowering Fields DSP 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 and adhere, centering on the card front.
  • Using the Layering Circles Dies, cut a circle from Highland Heather card stock. Put dimensionals on the back and attach where shown
  • Using the Amazing Thanks Dies, die cut the sentiment from Basic White and adhere with liquid glue.
  • Attach several (here I used 5) Brushed Brass Butterflies.
  • And just one more touch of sparkle was needed… cut a length of the Glittered Organdy Ribbon in White and attached with a glue dot under the circle. Love…❤️

For the inside…

Flowering Fields / Amazing Thanks, inside

With the Amazing Thanks Dies comes this wonderful stamp set, Amazing Silhouettes, and this butterfly is absolutely perfect for the inside of this card. Stamp it in Highland Heather ink as shown, on a Basic White panel and adhere to the inside of the card. Done!

For the envelope, I turned this tulip panel over and saw this wonderful color spray from Highland Heather to Rich Razzleberry, and adhered it to the flap. For the envelope front, I stamped the same butterfly from Amazing Silhouettes in Highland Heather ink.

I had such fun creating this card. It’s going in my stash, but I do love it and can’t wait to send it to just the right person. :O)

Stampin’ Up! Sweet Hearts Dies for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

WooHoo ~ it’s Thursday and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. You’re going to see some wonderful ideas from this group, so let’s get on with it.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 18034290_10213018857694437_1570318010991291595_n.jpg

And we have a sketch challenge this week that is kinda fun – and you will see many ideas for making this sketch shine.

May be an image of text that says 'Happy Inkin Thursday Blog Hop January 20- Sketch Challenge'

My card is a Note card and I’v e chosen to work with the Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 SDSP and the Sweet Hearts Dies. Let’s take a peak.

Sweet Hearts Dies.1

Are these tiny hearts sweet or what?! The die I used cuts four of these at a time which makes it really easily to die cut multiples. As I look at this, I’m wondering why I didn’t add another strip of color to the inside of the Abstract Beauty 4×6 SDSP… Hmmm. A bit of ribbon maybe. Well, another card another day 🙂 These note cards are 3 1/2 x 5, so I cut a panel of Basic White card stock just that size, stamped the sentiment (from Rainbow of Happiness stamp set) in Magenta Madness ink, then ran this through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I added the two narrow strips of the Abstract Beauty 4×6 SDSP to each side. I die cut the hearts from the same SDSP. The top gold heart is on a mini dimensional cut down to fit. The other hearts are added with dabs of liquid glue, and I put the dot of glue right on the card front in lieu of the heart.

For the inside of the card….

Sweet Heart Dies.2

I added another strip of the Abstract Beauty 4×6 SDSP to the right inside of the card and final heart die cut. Sweet, simple.

Sweet Heart Dies.3

For the envelope I stamped the front with the same sentiment from Rainbows of Happiness stamp set buty used Blushing Bride ink. And for envelope flap, a piece of Simply Marbelous 6×6 DSP (FREE during Sale-a-bration!) adhered with liquid glue and trimmed to fit.

Stampin’ Up! New Horizons 6×6 DSP with After the Storm Sympathy

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Did you stay up until midnight to bring in the new year? Here’s to a year of better health for all. Jan. 4 means the new Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog goers live for customers. Today I’m showcasing the New Horizons 6×6 DSP that is in this catalog. It is stunning ~ so different. I’ve created two sympathy cards with this DSP: same format but rearranged somewhat. Let’s take a peek.

New Horizons 6×6 DSP

Isn’t this DSP stunning? These two cards have been created for a woman and her adult daughter whose husband and father passed away just prior to Christmas. He loved to paint and the family loves color, mostly purple and pinks, and this seemed perfect for this. The sentiment on the card at left comes from the After the Storm stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink on a Basic White strip then punched with the Label Me Fancy Punch. Love the fonts in this set!

Left card: after adhering the DSP to Fresh Freesia card stock, I wrapped a length of Open Weave Ribbon in Soft Succulent around both pieces & tied a knot. I then attached the sentiment with dimensionals & added three Garden Gems in green to the banner. This panel was then added to a prepared card base with dimensionals: Thick Basic White with Blackberry Bliss adhered with liquid glue. The card front was now complete!

Right card: DSP was added to Blackberry Bliss card stock with liquid glue; wrapped with a length of Open Weave Ribbon in Fresh Freesia and tied with a knot. The sentiment was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink on a Basic White piece using the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set. It was die cut with the Layering Circles Dies and three Garden Gems in the green were added. This was adhered to a scalloped layer of Blackberry Bliss die cut with the Layering Circles Dies. This sentiment circle was attached with dimensionals over the ribbon. I also stamped three birds in Evening Evergreen ink using the After the Storm stamp set. For the background layer, I stamped the large clouds from the After the Storm stamp set, mimicking the pattern on the DSP: Polished Pink at the top, then Blackberry Bliss followed by Evening Evergreen and finally Misty Moonlight. Here’s a photo of that panel.

After the Storm stamp set

This panel was then added to the Soft Succulent card base and the top panels added with dimensionals – and this card front was complete.

For the insides of these two cards…

I used After the Storm stamp set for both of these cards on the inside: Blackberry Bliss and Bumblebee inks for the card on the left; Polished Pink, Bumblebee and Blackberry Bliss for the card on the right. The birds were stamped in Misty Moonlight on this card.

For the envelopes I cut a panel each of the Blackberry Bliss and Soft Succulent card stocks and ran them through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and adhered them to the envelope flaps.

Two very similar cards but different and I love them both. The DSP looks like a water scene to me, which is perfect since the man who passed away was a sailor :O)

please reach out to me – happy to send one to you. AND… I now have the Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog and the 4 January to 28 February 2022 Sale-a-bration catalogs and can send those as well! Stampin’ Up! Snowman and Tree Christmas Tags

Hi Folks! How’s your Sunday so far? We’re really just getting started here on the East coast. After the gusts of wind and rain, today might be peaceful, weather-wise. Today’s project is kinda fun – Christmas tags! Does it seem too early? Well, not really, it’s less than eight (8) weeks away! YIKES! And today is Trick or Treat Day – quite a contrast to Christmas. We’ll see lots of goblins and vampires today. I love our neighborhood – lots of kids around. 🤗

Today’s post…

Snowman & Tree C’mas Tags

Cute, right? All the tags have a second panel that is retired DSP from Sale-a-bration. What did I do here…

  • Basic White card stock cut 4 1/4 x 11, then trimmed each one to 2 x 4 1/4; DSP same process
  • Punch each top with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch, including the DSP panel behind it
  • Use a sponge dauber & Sahara Sand ink to color the edges of all Basic White tags
  • For the snowman…
    • stamp the sentiment from Encircled in Warmth in Evening Evergreen ink
    • stamp the snowman from Snowman Season in Evening Evergreen ink
    • color the scarf with Real Red marker; the nose with Pumpkin Pie marker – this doesn’t bleed through!
    • thread ribbon through… I used both red & white crochet thread – about 8 1/2′ long
  • For the trees
    • I stamped the tree from Perfectly Plaid stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink, then punched it out with the Pine Tree Punch
    • I added various widths of DSP (Peaceful Prints) to the bottom of the tag, then added the tree – on dimensionals
    • The last step was to stamp the sentiment from Perfectly Plaid stamp set in either Real Red ink or Evening Evergreen. The red trees were punched from the retired Sale-a-bration DSP, Peaceful Prints
    • The stars on these trees came from Gold Foil or the white foil from the Wonderful Snowflakes and die cut with Stitched Stars Dies
    • There are two stamped tags with trees – and I probably should replace these so the trees are all using the Pine Tree Punch.. but… the stamped trees came from Evergreen Elegance stamp set and were stamped in Evening Evergreen ink. I added Red Rhinestone Jewels to one of the trees and dots of Shimmery Crystal Effects to the tallest tree. You MUST let this dry throughly!!!

And that’s it… a fun project you could get your kids doing too. In lieu of peaceful Prints DSP I highly recommend Tidings of Christmas 6×6 DSP, Gingerbread & Peppermint 6×6 DSP, Painted Christmas DSPSweet Stockings DSP. You may need to change up the inks to coordinate with those papers, but this would totally work :O) I hope you enjoyed my project today.

Stampin’ Up! Criss Cross Card w/ Painted Christmas

This was such a fun, easy card to make and I like that it’s an ‘out of the ordinary’ color for a Christmas card :O) Yep, I used Calypso Coral for the card base on this card. Stampin’ Up! lists all the coordinating colors for its DSP on the packaging and Calypso Coral was listed. When I put it with the DSP I wanted to use, I liked it ~ so here we are. I used Cherry Cobbler for the sentiments and i like how it coordinates and brings out the darker colors of the DSP. And these pine needles bunches were extras from a project some time ago, die cut with the Christmas Pinecone Dies: Evening Evergreen and Basic White card stocks and they bring out the pine needles of the DSP. How clever is that!

Criss Cross w/ Painted C’mas DSP.1

Basics:

  • Cut the card stock base 4 1/4 x 11 & score at 5 1/2 (Calypso Coral)
  • Cut from outside top corner to the fold line – see photo 2
Criss Cross w/ Painted C’mas DSP.2
  • Cut a piece of DSP 4 x 5 1/4 (Painted C’mas)
  • With whatever design you want on the front right panel, have that side face up & cut it on the diagonal, corner to corner, keeping in mind the direction of the design
  • Flip one side over and adhere to card front: card front has been folded back on itself so diagonal is going different direction, see photo 3
Criss Cross w/ painted C’mas DSP.3
  • Adhere other DSP panel to remaining piece cut from original card base.
  • Adhere diagonal panel to the card front. see photo 4
Criss Cross Card w/ Painted C’mas.4

The card opens with the fold on the left, but this looks cool and is easy to do. Now we decorate the front & the inside.

  • I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut the sentiment panels: Calypso Coral for the larger piece and Basic White for the sentiment itself.
  • The sentiment comes from C’mas to Remember stamp set & is stamped w/ Cherry Cobbler ink.
  • I added three Genial Gems to the banner in green.
  • The pine boughs were die cut using the C’mas Pinecone Dies, adhered together slightly offset then cut apart. The paper is Evening Evergreen & Basic White
  • These were adhered to the larger banner with liquid glue, then the sentiment banner atop that on dimensionals. The banner was adhered in place with liquid glue
Criss Cross card w/ Painted C’mas, inside.5

For the inside, stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink using another phrase from C’mas To Remember stamp set. When stamping the sentiment, you do want to make certain it isn’t going to show when the card is closed. hint, hint. I stamped the pine boughs in second generation Evening Evergreen ink, then the stem for the berries in full strength. These come from the C’mas Season stamp set. The berries were stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, also second generation. I added three more Genial Gems around the sentiment then adhered the panel to the inside of the card. And the card is done!

Criss Cross Card w/ Painted C’mas.6

For the envelope I cut a strip 2 1/4 x 6 from Soft Succulent card stock and ran it through the Wintry 3D EF, then adhered it to the flap & trimmed to fit. I then stamped the same grouping of pine boughs & berries as done on the inside of the card. They come from the C’mas Season stamp set. LOVE! This is fresh & bright. Such a fun & easy card to do.
