Stampin’ Up! Happier Than Happy Fun Fold

Hello again. Guess what? I have another fun fold for you :O) In card class Thursday we made two fun folds ~ the one I posted yesterday with the Caroling Mice – a swing fold; and the other is the one I’m sharing with you today, made with Happier Than Happy stamp set. This could be masculine or a child’s card because of the colors & DSP. It could also be a woman’s card – it has flexibility.

See what I mean that this could be a child’s card? And these colors too are bright & cheery and wonderful together. Calypso Coral is the card stock base and Sahara Sand is the contrasting color. The DSP is from the Happier Than Happy 12 x 12 DSP pack. So – how to make this card…

  • Calypso Coral pieces: 5 1/2 x 11, scored on long side @ 4, 5 3/4, 7 1/2, 9 1/4; 5 x 2 1/2 scored at 2 1/2; 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 (inside panel)
  • Sahara Sand pieces: 2 1/4 x 2 14, 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 – emboss all of these with the Timber 3D embossing folder
  • Basic White: 2 x 2 (sentiment panel for inside) + additional pieces for stamped items
  • DSP – Happier Than Happy 12 x 12: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, cut 2

Begin by adhering pieces to panels 1,3 & 5: that’s DSP, Sahara Sand & Sahara Sand.

Adhere the square Sahara Sand piece to the left area on the scored 5 x 2 1/2 strip. Now adhere this strip to the front panel… with the card closed, place the left Sahara Sand portion on the front so it is equidistant from the left edge of the card & the right side of the card as well. Now, with the card folded accordian-style, adhere the right part of the 5 x 2 1/2 strip to panel 4. Adhere the additional DSP piece over top. Time to do some stamping/ decorating… stamp the front sentiment in Calypso Coral ink on Basic White using the Charming Sentiments stamp set; die cut with the coordinating Sentiment Silhouette Dies. Adhere to the front with mini dimensionals. Stamp the owl, stump and fox from Happier Than Happy stamp set on another Basic White scrap in Sahara Sand ink and die cut with the Happy Forest Friends Dies. Adhere in place as shown in photo. Stamp the inside sentiment (WOOHOO) from Charming Sentiments stamp set on the remaining Basic White 2 x 2 square in Sahara Sand ink and adhere to the inside. For the final touch, add the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots. Turn card over & adhere a panel 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 in Basic White on the back for writing a sweet note. DONE!

Last but not least is the envelope… more of the same Happy Forest Friends DSP on the flap, adhered & trimmed to fit. For the front, stamp the cute owl from Happier Than Happy stamp set in Sahara Sand – and it’s all read for someones special birthday :O)

Stampin’ Up! Caroling Mice Fun Fold

Good Friday morning! It’s fun fold Friday :O) This is such a quick & easy card even though it’s a fun fold. It’s really about paying attention to the detail – as in following instructions. I made this card not long ago but with the elephants and made it a baby card – also, the ‘swing’ was a square not a circle. This is called a Half Swing or Pop-Out Swing Card and it’s one of the cards we made in my card class yesterday. And here ya go…

I began with Thick Basic White card stock, standard A2 size (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) I adhered the DSP (4 x 5 1/2) on the right side only, then die cut the circle with the Stylish Shapes Dies (second largest). NOTE: the circle is rather equidistant from both sides and the top of the card front. I removed the circle, and adhered the rest of the DSP to the card front. With a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 square of Thick Basic White, cut the ‘frame’ for the circle using the two largest circles in the Stylish Shapes Dies and run them through the die cutting machine. On this circle, stamp the single mouse from the Caroling Mice stamp set in Memento ink: color the mouse with Stampin’ Blends. I used Evening Evergreen for the jacket, Real Red for the scarf, Light Basic Gray for the mouse and Soft Succulent for the hat. Put a dot of Pearlized Enamel Effects in white on the hat top and set aside to dry. This takes a bit of time to dry and you don’t want to smear it! Now lets create the ‘swing’ part :O)

Cut another piece of Thick Basic White 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score on the long side at 2, 4 and 6. Burnish well. On the 1/2″ end, make a cut to the score line approximately 1/2″ from top and 1- 1 1/2″ from the bottom and trim away the middle portion. You scored & trimmed piece should look like this.

And when adhering to the inside of the card, it will look like this. .. note in particular the direction of the tabs.

BEFORE ADHERING TO THE INSIDE OF THE CARD, STAMP THE VARIOS PANELS. I capitalized that sentence ‘cuz someone I know did not do that and stamping after it was adhered to the card base was tricky. :O( Here’s a photo after stamping and coloring with Stampin’ Blends – and already showing it attached.

The street light image from Caroling Mice stamp set was stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends: Basic Black, dark Real Red, So Saffron. For the light I first did the Light So Saffron, then used the Dark So Saffron in the lower portion of the left small opening and in the left corner of the large opening. This gave it a bit more depth. I also added Wink of Stella to the light area and the bow. The tree from Caroling Mice stamp set was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink and topped with Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins in red. Once everything was stamped & colored I adhered the inner panel to the card: the right portion got adhesive and was attached to the far right on the inside of the card, about 1/8″ from edge; with the tabs facing ‘in’ (see photo), add adhesive, fold the accordian inside flat and close the card front over. The tabs will adhere in the proper place and should NOT SHOW THROUGH the circle opening.

There is an extra circle die cut from the card front – use this to adhere to the stamped caroling mouse circle. Close card and put adhesive on the area that shows through the circle on the right side, attach colored caroling mouse circle and hold in place for a bit to make certain it is dry. Now open the card and wheee – the mouse is attached.

Now let’s finish the card front. Using Sweet Candy Canes stamp set, stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen on a Thick Basic White scrap. Die cut with the die from Candy Canes Dies. I found it easier to adhere the sentiment banner then add the ribbon – so that’s what I did. Adhere the sentiment banner with dimensionals; attached ribbon to both ends – I used the Real Red from the Real Red & Garden Green 3/8″ Ribbon Combo Pack in theJul-Dec Mini catalog. I used a length of Linen Thread tied in a knot to hold the ends together. For the final touch, three Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins were added to the banner. Such a fun card!

Stampin’ Up! Apple Harvest Bundle Envelope Fun Fold

Hello again ~ Sat Sep 3, yikes the time is going f-a-s-t… Stampin’ Up has this super deal right now with Perfect Partners. What that means is they created dies to go with an existing stamp set and only during the month of September will they be available. Today I’m sharing some of the not so obvious dies in the bundle to create this fun envelope fold. Let’s take a peek.

In this photo you can see the really fun apple blossoms and the wonderful branch. The flowers have intricate lines in each of the petals that really set them apart from other floral dies. And you can see there are two sizes of blossoms and the fun stamens as well. Gorgeousness. I added a single Glossy Dots Assortment in Daffodil Delight to the center of each blossom. And the branch is die cut from Soft Suede and has detail ridges and lines in it too – very delicate. The bottom front of this envelope fold is embossed in the Pretty Posies embossing folder. I like the added texture & pattern. The DSP is Gingham Cottage in Blushing Bride. I might note here that the smaller blossoms above were die cut from scrap of this DSP. The stamens were die cut from scrap of the Abigail Rose DSP used on the inside of the card. To make the v-shape for the distinctly ‘envelope’ card I used the Basic Borders Dies.

The inside shows more of the Apple Blossom Dies at the top with the sentiment banner – that stamp & die are from the Apple Blossom Bundle, and at the bottom with the beautiful scallop. What you see is a strip from the die cut, the bottom, and the very delicate upper scallop is the real deal. Both sentiments on this are from the Apple Blossom stamp set.

The upper portion of the envelope flap is covered in Abigail Rose DSP using a Smoky Slate piece to coordinate with the card base.

The photo above shows the entire length of the card – back side. It’s clear I used two sizes of the plaid from Gingham Cottage DSP – love the contrast.

For the envelope – more of the same Blushing Bride Gingham Cottage DSP for the flap. At the bottom of the envelope is the remainder of the scallop die cut from the Apple Blossom Dies. Here’s what I did… I began with a strip about 1 x 6 and used the scallop die close to one edge lengthwise. After running it through the Cut & Emboss machine it left three pieces – this is the last of those and the piece closest to the edge when die cut.

I can’t wait to play more with this Apple Harvest Bundle – such a beautiful set. The stamp set is from the Jul-Dec catalog, but the bundle is new. You can purchase each of these individually, but with 10% off when bundled, why would you?

Stampin’ Up! Elephant Parade Fun Fold, Baby

Hi Ya’ll. Ha, I’m not from the south… I just had to say it :O) Today’s card was supposed to be another fall card. It’s all ready & everything. But… I got an order for a baby card and decided THIS would be the post for today.

This is a fun fold… Half Swing Card or Pop-out Swing Card – you know, for Fun Fold Friday 😁 The sweet plaid is from Hue of Happiness DSP and is adhered to Flirty Flamingo card stock. The square is the 2nd largest of the Stylish Shapes Dies and I die cut the square AFTER adhering the DSP. But let me explain… I did not want adhesive all over the die, so, I adhered the DSP just on the right side to the card stock. After die cutting, I added more adhesive to hold the DSP in place, including on the die cut square panel. It was at this point I added the additional piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock, then the swing square, then decorated.

Directions:

  • Cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score @ 4 1/4. (This is an A2 card panel)
  • Cut DSP to fit entire card front. Adhere just on right side to the A2 Flirty Flamingo card front
  • Die cut square, off-center. Because of the DSP/ card stock layers, I ran my square through twice (forward then back)
  • Remove square, adhere rest of DSP in place. Be sure to adhere DSP to the square as well. (Ask me how I know that!)
  • At this point you could opt to make a ‘frame’ for the square on the card front. I didn’t want that for this card so won’t give directions for that process ~ maybe in a future card.
  • Cut another piece of Flirty Flamingo 6 1/2 x 5 1/4 and score on long side @ 2, 4 & 6. Burnish well.
  • On the 1/2″ edge, make a slit to the score line down from top about 3/4″ Do same at bottom. Trim away the area in between so just ‘tabs’ remain. (I should have taken a picture & didn’t!)
  • Adhere the scored piece w/ 2″ area to the inside of the card back, 1/8″ from edge. I found it helpful to keep this scored panel closed to adhere it.
  • With the tabs in the ‘valley’ fold, put glue on tabs, close the card and they will adhere to card inside front.
  • With card closed, adhere square in place with glue only on the additional scored panel seen through the open square.
  • It should look like the photo below… sorry about the shadows!

  • Cut a Basic White piece 1 7/8 X 5 1/8, stamp & decorate. Adhere to inside. See photo.

The elephants, flower, butterfly & balloon were stamped with Memento Black ink on A Basic White piece, colored with Stampin’ Blends and die cut with the Elephant Dies. The elephant on the square was adhered with dimentionals, while the lower elephant was attached with liquid adhesive. The flower was attached with dabs of liquid glue; the butterfly with a mini dimensional; the balloon with a dimensional only under the balloon; the grass with liquid glue.

Stampin’ Blends used were: Dark Flirty Flamingo & Light Granny Apple Green for the flower; Light Tahitian Tide & Light Daffodil Delight for the butterfly; Smoky slate, both Light & Dark for the elephant. A bit of Colo0r Lifter was used when necessary for highlight. The balloon was covered in Wink of Stella. The ribbon: Glittered Organdy Ribbon, was added with a glue dot under the knot.

Stampin’ Up! Book-Binding Gatefold Card

Hi there! I have a very fun & easy card for you today. Yes, layers, that’s me. It’s a fun fold.

Stampin' Up! Book-binding Gatefold Card

I’ve used the Boughs of Holly DSP and the Leaves of Holly stamp set with it’s coordinating dies: Holly Berry Dies.Notice this center sentiment banner. Gorgeous, right? The berries on the lower right are holding the gatefold closed by simply slipping part of the sentiment banner under the berries, which are on dimensionals of course. And here it is out from under the berries.

Notice how the ‘gate’ is open? Ok, how to make this beauty.

  • Cut the card base 4 1/4 x 11 & score @ 2 1/8, 3 3/8, & 8 7/8 (this is Real Red card stock) & burnish
  • Cut layering panels: 1 1/8 x 4 1/8, 2 x 4 1/8 (cut 2) * for inside 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 (this is Soft Succulent card stock)
  • Cut DSP panels: 1 x 4, 1 7/8 x 4 (cut 2) (this is Boughs of Holly DSP) Notice they are coordinating
  • Basic White square inside is 4 x 4
  • Thick Basic White : 6 x 4 for sentiment banner & berries

The first step is to create the book-binding… adhere together with a strong adhesive (I used Seal+) the scored area between 2 1/8 & 3 3/8. Adhere DSP panels to their like card stock cuts, then onto the card front. That’s really it except for decorating the card front :O)

To decorate: die cut 2 sentiment banners from Thick Basic White and from Evening Evergreen, the backing for the holly leaves. Adhere Evening Evergreen piece in place behind holly leaves, then adhere other banner piece to this for strength. Stamp sentiment in Real Red using the Leaves of holly stamp set.

Stamp berries ~ the detail is stamped first in Sweet Sorbet ink, then stamp over this with the more solid berry stamp in Real Red ink. Die cut with the appropriate die from Holly Berry Dies. Do this three times. Add one set of berries to the upper right corner of the sentiment banner, behind. Cut apart one set of berries to use two berries to add with dimensionals near the holly leaves. Close the Gate fold and adhere sentiment banner only on the left ‘gate’. Put dimensionals on the remaining set of berries and attach so the corner of the sentiment banner can slide under it. YAY, done! Now add several Rhinestone Basic Jewels for sparkle.

Here you can see five of the seven rhinestones added to the card front.

Stampin' Up! Book-binding Gatefold, inside

To create the inside is super easy too. Adhere the Soft Succulent panel first. Now stamp the Basic White piece: berries first. Detail stamp is Sweet Sorbet, more solid stamp is Real Red. Finally stamp the sentiment from the Leaves of Holly stamp set in Real Red. Adhere this panel in place and the card is finis. :O) Beautiful, right?

For the envelope I stamped the sentiment from Leaves of Holly in Real Red ink across the bottom front. The flap got more of the Boughs of Holly DSP. Lovely, fresh, cheery.

Stampin’ Up! Hello Harvest Fun Fold

Hello again! It’s time for another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop Group… and the theme is “Fall Frenzy”. Check out my card…

Stampin' Up! Hello Harvest

Whoa… the colors on my card are clashing with the the blog hop logo – yikes! But it just doesn’t matter!!! My card… these Leaf Labels are so fun to play with – here I added some color to the edges with sponge daubers and several inks: Poppy Parade, Evening Evergreen and Crushed Curry. I kept them pretty soft. And in the middle is stamped the simple word ‘hello’ from the Soft Seedlings stamp set. I love this font! I also added some of the Amber Gems that come packaged with the Leaf Labels. But I’m ahead of myself… perhaps we should begin with the card base 🥴 I like layers as you know, so: Crushed Curry card base layered with Crumb Cake then Rings of Love DSP (FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 product order!) The next is the fun fold part… Crushed Curry 3 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 14. Layer the front with Crumb Cake, then Gingham Cottage DSP in So Saffron. Take another piece of Crushed Curry 2 1/2 x 4 14 and lay it crosswise on the front and adhere with dimensionals. Run a slightly smaller panel of Crumb cake through the Timber 3D embossing folder and add it to this Crushed Curry piece. Now we decorate…

  • Ink the leaf stamp from Hello Harvest stamp set, in Crushed Curry, stamp off and with sponge daubers add a bit of color to the leaf tips: Evening Evergreen and Poppy Parade. Do this twice cleaning between each process, then die cut using the coordinating Rustic Pumpkin Dies. Before putting this stamp away, stamp a 4 x 5 14 Basic White panel and the envelope front following the same procedure.
  • Place the two die cut leaves, one under the Leaf Label and one on top. Add a twirly stem die cut using the Rustic Pumpkin Dies and Garden Green card stock scrap.
  • Adhere all these to the embossed Crushed Curry piece.
  • Add the bow made from separated strings of Baker’s Twine in White and Crumb Cake… with a dab of liquid glue.

Add this folded panel to the card base (remember the three layers that started the card), centering it. Now decorate the inside of the folded portion: Crumb Cake layer, then decorated Basic White layer.

  • The Basic White layer… stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede ink using this wonderful sentiment from Hello Harvest stamp set.
  • Stamp two flowers in Memento Black ink on either side of the sentiment. Color the flowers with Stampin’ Blends Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede

Now turn the completed card over and add the Basic White panel stamped with the leaf from Hello Harvest.

Envelope: Remember the front has already been stamped with the leaf from Harvest Hello. Now add more of the same Gingham Cottage to the flap and your card is complete :O)

Stampin’ Up! Faux Step Fun Fold

Hello again… what’s it like in your part of the world? Warm, chilly, rainy, sunny? It’s been uber hot here lately and plants hav e suffered for it. Me – I’m fortunate to have sir conditioning and have stayed inside quite a bit. Whatever your weather, taken care of yourself, ok?

I decided to play with a fold I hadn’t done before and it was super easy. I used the Rings of Nature DSP that’s FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 purchase. It’s beautiful paper! And I brought in some elements from the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog as well. Of course, card stock is in the Annual Catalog, so guess I used products from all three – ha!

Stampin' Up! Faux Step Fun Fold

What do you think? It looks pretty easy doesn’t it? So, let me talk you through it.

  • Two elements of card base: the short one and the tall one.
    • Poppy Parade 2 1/2 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 & burnish
    • Poppy Parade 4 1/4 x 9 scored at 1 1/4, 2 1/2 & 5 3/4 & burnish; mountain, valley, mountain
  • Layer the tall front panel with Mint Macaron 2 1/4 x 5 1/4; layer DSP (Rings of Nature) 2 x 5 onto that
  • Cut a piece of Basic White for the back of the tall panel (2 1/4 x 5 1/4) & decorate. I stamped it with the super cute flower from Nature’s Prints stamp set by inking the flower part with Poppy Parade marker and the stem with Crumb Cake marker. I huffed on it and stamped. Adhere to the back of the tall panel and set aside.

  • Take a Textural Element and add Pearlized Enamel Effects to each tip. Set aside to dry & firm.

  • Cut a piece of DSP (Rings of Nature) 3×4 and adhere to the larger panel
  • Adhere the tall panel to the small section in front, centering it.
  • Close both pieces and adhere the tall panel to the back of the shorter , folded piece
  • Decorate the front of the tall panel.
    • Die cut a single leaf spray in Mint Macaron using the natural Prints Dies.
    • Adhere a Textural Element to that.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink on a Basic White scrap and die cut with a Layering Circles Die. Put dimesnionals on the back of the circle being aware of where it will be attached.
  • Add circle to the card front.
  • Slip the Textural Element in behind the circle
  • Separate strands of White Baker’s Twine and Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine and tie to make a bow. Attach to the Textural Element with a glue dot. These are both part of the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack.
  • Add Amber Gems to the circle for added glam. These are from the Leaf Label & Amber Gems Pack.

Now that the card is complete, decorate the envelope. I did this simply by adhering Rings of Nature DSP to the flap and a 1/2″ strip to the front of the envelope.

Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Prints and Sun Prints for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hello & happy Thursday! It’s our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop with a color challenge… and you can see my card that I created for it. Nature’s Prints and the coordinating Sun Prints DSP are just so perfect together. It doesn’t mean they MUST be used together ~ they just CAN BE… and I did! And – it’s a fun fold to boot. Not sure what to call it… I’m going to call it an envelope fold, cuz that’s what it looks like to me. :O)

I began with a piece of Pacific Point card stock as it coordinates so nicely with the Sun Prints DSP. I scored then trimmed the right side as shown… marking the center point and trimming 1″ in from the top & bottom to the center mark.. It really is important to be very precise in your cutting – ask me how I know that! Trim 1/8″ from the left edge of the card base so it does not interfere with the fold. Cut your Sun Prints DSP: panel for the left front and another for the right pointy part. Card cuts are listed at the bottom of this post. Cut your center panel in Basic White. Stamp this Basic White panel.

I used the leaf stamp from Nature’s Prints and Starry Sky ink, stamped the first leaf full strength and continued with the next two without re-inking. I stamped the sentiment from Nature’s Prints stamp set in the same Starry Sky ink, stamped off once. Adhere this to the inside of the card.

Back to the front of the card… I used a 1 5/9 circle from the Layering Circles Dies to cut the circle in the pointy part of the fun fold. I cut another circle in Thick Basic White with the same circle die and stamped it: sentiment in stamped off Starry Sky, then the two portions of the fern – inking, stamping off, then stamping in place. The sentiment and the fern leaf are from the Nature’s Prints stamp set. I closed the card and adhered the circle to the left portion of the card but in the place of the hole of the right side. Does that make sense? I adhered it with liquid glue.

To keep the envelope fun fold closed, I cut a piece of the Sun Prints DSP with the very smallest of the Layering Circles Dies.. I also cut another circle from Pacific Point card stock and adhered these two together, put a few dimensionals on the back and with the card closed, put the small circle in place.

I stamped the sentiment – again from Nature’s Prints stamp set in full strength Starry Sky on a Basic White strip. I did a bit of fussy cutting then adhered it to another piece of Pacific Point and adhered it to the card front on the cut ‘like envelope’ side. I added three Classic Matte Dots and the card was done!

For the envelope… another of the wonderful nature images stamped on the envelope front and flap with Starry Sky ink, the flap image stamped off. And that was it! Pretty simple really. The tricky part is the cutting to the center of the piece and trimming the DSP perfectly.

Stampin’ Up! Angled Gatefold

Hello there! It’s Tuesday and time for another fun fold design I think you will like. It features the Happy Forest Friends DSP in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and the stamp bundle, Happier Than Happy stamp set along with its coordinating dies. I didn’t use the coordinating dies but did pull in dies from All That Dies from He’s All That bundle to use on the belly band.

Is this pretty DSP? Calypso Coral is its main feature and I’ve used that color for the card base. I’ve seen this style card on Pinterest a lot and have wanted to give it a try. The tricky part is the layering pieces and getting the proper angles. It took me a couple of tries, but I’m pretty please with the final card. There are plenty of videos for you to see first-hand how this is done, but I will try to explain it. I do encourage a watching a video though!

The card base is 5 1/2 x 11, scored at 3 3/8 from each side. With the inside of the card facing down, measure down 1 1/2″ from the top right corner: trim from the score line to the 1 1/2″ mark. With the inside of the card still facing down, measure in 1″ along the bottom of the card and trim from the corner just cut to the 1″ mark. Do the same on the other side. Refer to these two photos for reference.

The next step is to cut the same angles on a 3 1/8 x 5 1/4 piece of DSP. Tricks here are to make certain which papers you desire for each side and trimming them properly :O) For me, I decided to use computer paper to make a template – and that took a couple of tries to get the cut the way I wanted it. I used that template to cut the Happy Forrest Friends DSP, then adhered it in place with liquid glue. Make sure the papers line up on the bottom edge in particular, so when the card is closed, they are even. Here’s a photo without the belly band on the card.

Now work on the inside… On a Basic White panel 4 x 51/4, I stamped this uber-cute bear in Smoky Slate ink. I then stamped the two leaf sprays, also in the same ink. I used the sentiment from Happier Than Happy stamp set & Calypso Coral ink to stamp the words. I adhered this in place with liquid glue. and created the belly band.

The belly band is 1 x 10 in Calypso Coral and scored at one end at 2 1/4″. Wrap this around the card with the scored end to the left and fold the other side over, firming the second fold. Add Tear n’ Tape to each end and secure while around the card. This helps make the belly band not too tight :O) … ask me how I know that! Decorate the belly band: In Smoky Slate card stock, make the rectangle using a die from the All That Dies. Secure in place on the belly band, covering the fold over, with liquid glue. Die cut this fun-edged circle with another die from All That Dies and Basic White card stock. Stamp the sentiment from Eden’s Garden with Smoky Slate ink. Before placing the circle over the rectangle, i felt it needed a bit of trim – and came up with Pale Papaya Open Weave 3/8″ Ribbon. I secured it to the rectangle with Stampin’ Seal, then added the circle with dimensionals. Three Classic Matte Dots in gray were added to tie it all together.

For the envelope I added more of the Happy Forrest Friends DSP to the flap and that was it!

This card is going to a friend who is moving, so the inside sentiment, hello baby, is an endearing term for friend. At least, that’s how I’m using it! If this were a true baby card, I would use totally different DSP…

Stampin’ Up! Floating Gatefold Card

Such a fun card… and I used the Hippest Hippo bundle from the Sale-a-bration Catalog. These two items – stamp set & dies – are separate items that can be earned with purchases of $50 each. And remember, during Sale-a-bration, all these items are while supplies last. Once gone, g-o-n-e! Here’s this fun card.

This gal is one dancin’ ballerina – on a bucket :O) which is adhered with dimensionals. Pacific Point card base, Basic White layer, Brights 6×6 DSP in Pacific Point. The hippo is colored with Blends: Light Smoky Slate & SU900; the skirt is Dark Highland Heather; Basic Black marker for the ballerina shoes, then die cut and added with dimensionals. The flowers are die cut from So Saffron and have Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels in the center and added with dabs of liquid glue. The sentiment is stamped in Memento ink on Basic White, then die cut with Stylish Shapes Dies and added with a dimensional.

This is what makes this a ‘floating’ gatefold, the inside. These super cute hippos ‘float’ on the card with a definite 3 dimension. Coloring is the same as the hippo on the front. Additional blends: Dark Cherry Cobbler for the flower and Dark Shaded Spruce for the leaf. Additional die cuts are in Real Red and So Saffron. Don’t you just love the eye glasses?! I will be adding a Basic White panel to the back of the card for writing a note.

These two photos indicate the ‘floating’ mechanism, the strip. They also show where the small squares should line up – no higher/ or lower than the inside Basic White liner. The floating mechanism or strip is first attached to the square, then to the card gatefold (you can see this in the second ‘more inside help’ photo), then to the inside panel. All stamping or additional die cuts are added to the inside panel AFTER the Hippo & mechanism have been added. This way you know exactly where the open spaces are and the card easily lays flat for these additions. Sorry… should have taken a photo of the card totally flat but didn’t think of it 🥴

  • Pacific Point:
    • card base – 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, score at one end at 2 1/8, fold other end over ton meet it & burnish
    • front layer – 3 x 4
    • inside squares – 2 1/2 (cut 2)
    • additional scrap for bucket
  • DSP: Brights 6×6 DSP in Pacific Point 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 (cut 2 for front gatefolds)
  • Basic White:
    • 2 x 5 3/8 (cut 2 for front gatefolds)
    • 3 1/4 x 4 14 (front layer)
    • 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 (front layer for die cuts)
