Stampin’ Up! Cottage Wreaths for Fall

This card is very fall-ish: plaid designer series paper, a wreath & leaves ~ what more could you ask for in a fall card? So here ya go…

Stampin' Up! Cottage Wreaths, Fall.1

I began by stamping the wreath on a Basic White piece in Soft Suede ink with the Cottage Wreaths stamp set, then die cut it with the Country Wreaths Dies. I took another panel of Basic White and ran it through the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder to use as a background for the wreath. I covered the front of an A2 Pumpkin Pie card stock with the Gingham Cottage DSP in Pumpkin Pie. I took a piece of Pale Papaya card stock and ran it through the Deckled Rectangles Dies, cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock just slightly larger to layer behind it. Because I wanted yet another layer (😁) I used a smaller Deckled Rectangle Die to cut a pice of the Texture Chic Specialty DSP. All of these I layered, centering each one as you see, except the Basic White embossed panel. This I offset, put dimensionals on the die cut wreath and adhered it to the card front. Then I set about the leaves.

Stampin' Up! Baby Wipes & re-inkers.2

On a baby wipe, I dropped a couple of drops of re-inkers in these colorsCrushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie & Mossy Meadow. This is so fun to watch them bleed into one another. I took the small three leaves from the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and stamped it several times on a Basic White scrap, then die cut them all, choose several and attached with dimensionals to the wreath and on the card. There are actually seven of them. My last step was to tie a double bow using the Metallic Woven Ribbon in Parakeet Party and linen Thread together. These were attached with a glue dot.

For the inside of the card… I stamped a Basic White panel with this sentiment from Cottage Wreaths stamp set in Soft Suede ink. Then, remember the Pale Papaya cut for the card front? I used the remainder of that piece for the inside of the card, adhering over the Basic White framing it. My last step was to add more of the Baby Wipe stamped leaves from the Cottage Wreaths stamp set – just with a dot of liquid glue. This was added to the inside of the card & voila!

The envelope was extra easy & fun – I just used the same three leaves, stamped them on the baby wipe & onto the envelope, both on the front and all over the flap. Done! What’s extra nice is this card can be used for several things: thank you, birthday, congratulations – all because of the sentiment. Yes, I will have to send it this fall :O)

Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration and Paper Pumpkin

Good morning. Sale-a-bration is nearing it’s end… Aug 31 is the last day for FREEBIES; Sep 1 begins a really fun special promotion called Perfect Partners. Before I get to more of that, I do want to share some fun cards I made yesterday. I kind of went haywire and did a LOT. The first set of cards were inspired by Leann Greff (hope I spelled her name correctly!) They used the free cards & envelopes of Soft Sea Foam & Pool Party. Unfortunately they are sold out & technically I shouldn’t be sharing these since you can no longer get them. But if they are sitting on your shelf unused, perhaps this will get you using them. :O) Here they are…

Most of the cards are made using the Soft Seedlings stamp set, Scalloped Contour Dies, various ribbons, two embossing folders (Stripes & Splatters, Pretty Posies) & Layering Circles Dies. The butterfly is from Amazing Silhouettes stamp set. In each case of the stamp on the circle, It was inked with Soft Sea Foam then I used a sponger dauber to add Pool Party in various areas then it was stamped on Basic White. And I actually die cut the circle first and stamped directly on it.

The next set of cards are from the August Paper Pumpkin. Gosh, this was SUCH a gorgeous set! Here they are…

Some of these were designed per kit instructions., others I’ve taken ‘liberties.’ This was just a spectacular kit and I loved every bit of it. Since we’re talking about Paper Pumpkin (PP is how it is endearingly shortened), let’s look at next months kit.

Stampin’ Up! Elephant Parade Fun Fold, Baby

Hi Ya’ll. Ha, I’m not from the south… I just had to say it :O) Today’s card was supposed to be another fall card. It’s all ready & everything. But… I got an order for a baby card and decided THIS would be the post for today.

Stampin' Up! Elephant Parade Fun Fold, Baby.1

This is a fun fold… Half Swing Card or Pop-out Swing Card – you know, for Fun Fold Friday 😁 The sweet plaid is from Hue of Happiness DSP and is adhered to Flirty Flamingo card stock. The square is the 2nd largest of the Stylish Shapes Dies and I die cut the square AFTER adhering the DSP. But let me explain… I did not want adhesive all over the die, so, I adhered the DSP just on the right side to the card stock. After die cutting, I added more adhesive to hold the DSP in place, including on the die cut square panel. It was at this point I added the additional piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock, then the swing square, then decorated.

Directions:

  • Cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score @ 4 1/4. (This is an A2 card panel)
  • Cut DSP to fit entire card front. Adhere just on right side to the A2 Flirty Flamingo card front
  • Die cut square, off-center. Because of the DSP/ card stock layers, I ran my square through twice (forward then back)
  • Remove square, adhere rest of DSP in place. Be sure to adhere DSP to the square as well. (Ask me how I know that!)
  • At this point you could opt to make a ‘frame’ for the square on the card front. I didn’t want that for this card so won’t give directions for that process ~ maybe in a future card.
  • Cut another piece of Flirty Flamingo 6 1/2 x 5 1/4 and score on long side @ 2, 4 & 6. Burnish well.
  • On the 1/2″ edge, make a slit to the score line down from top about 3/4″ Do same at bottom. Trim away the area in between so just ‘tabs’ remain. (I should have taken a picture & didn’t!)
  • Adhere the scored piece w/ 2″ area to the inside of the card back, 1/8″ from edge. I found it helpful to keep this scored panel closed to adhere it.
  • With the tabs in the ‘valley’ fold, put glue on tabs, close the card and they will adhere to card inside front.
  • With card closed, adhere square in place with glue only on the additional scored panel seen through the open square.
  • It should look like the photo below… sorry about the shadows!

  • Cut a Basic White piece 1 7/8 X 5 1/8, stamp & decorate. Adhere to inside. See photo.

  • Decorate Square & card front

The elephants, flower, butterfly & balloon were stamped with Memento Black ink on A Basic White piece, colored with Stampin’ Blends and die cut with the Elephant Dies. The elephant on the square was adhered with dimentionals, while the lower elephant was attached with liquid adhesive. The flower was attached with dabs of liquid glue; the butterfly with a mini dimensional; the balloon with a dimensional only under the balloon; the grass with liquid glue.

Stampin’ Blends used were: Dark Flirty Flamingo & Light Granny Apple Green for the flower; Light Tahitian Tide & Light Daffodil Delight for the butterfly; Smoky slate, both Light & Dark for the elephant. A bit of Colo0r Lifter was used when necessary for highlight. The balloon was covered in Wink of Stella. The ribbon: Glittered Organdy Ribbon, was added with a glue dot under the knot.

For the envelope… more of the Hues of Happiness DSP on the flap and three baloons stamped in Memento Black ink. Stamp set is Elephant Parade. The balloons were colored with Stampin’ Blends: Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo & Tahitian Tide. DONE!

I THINK THIS CARD MAY NEED SOME CLASSIC MATTE DOTS IN WHITE… what do you think? Or something… anyway – you see it as it is right now.

Stampin’ Up! Shaded Summer Circle Card

Happy Sunday ~ or is it Sad Sunday since the weekend is, you know, almost over. :O( Whatever you’re up to today, stay safe and be wise… My card for you today is a small one, but oh so sweet. It’s less than 3 1/4″. Here it is…

Isn’t this just adorable. So perfect for a special gift – birthday or even wedding. And, this is not hard to do.

  • On a 3 1/2 x 11 card stock, fold over one end larger enough for the largest scallop circle. Place this scallop die just slightly over the fold so it does not cut a full circle, but does allow for a circle ‘fold’ cut. Then die cut one full circle at other end of paper. I used Coastal Cabana. It should look like this…

Notice how the one ‘set’ is die cut on the fold? And one side is then folded in half.

  • The extra circle will be adhered to the folded front half, matching the scallops.
  • Die cut three circles, (largest circle die) from Basic White card stock.
  • Cut one of those circle in half.
  • Stamp near the straight edge the desired sentiment and any additional stamp. I used the sweet leaf stamp in Garden Green ink from Shaded Summer stamp set. The sentiment is from…….
  • Adhere this stamped half circle to another full circle with dimensionals. This portion on dimensionals becomes the ‘stand’ for the upper portion.

The next part is decorating the front – and you can do just about anything! I chose to use the Summer Shadow Dies, Daffodil Delight & So Saffron card stock, then Flirty Flamingo and Basic White for another flower and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. The background is a piece of 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP in Petal Pink. Here’s another look.

Because this is slightly larger than 3″, I DID have to make an envelope – and I used a piece of very retired Envelope Paper in Mint Macaron.

You can easily see how it is trimmed and shaped in the photo above and where I used Tear ‘n Tape to adhere it together. Dimensions: 4 3/4 width, 7 1/4 in length. When slipping the card in the envelope, I found it easier to slip in face down, so the die cuts do not snag on the envelope :O)

Stampin’ Up! Elephant Parade & Candy Cane Dies

Hello again… have you ever put a couple of items together just ‘off the cuff’? I had these ‘pieces’ left on my desk from the Candy Cane Dies from a project some time ago: Parakeet Party pieces just resting on Starry Sky card stock. Well, they looked awesome together, so I began playing. Here’s what happened.

Stampin' Up! Elephant Parade & Candy Canes Dies

It’s colorful for sure, right? This is my first play with the elephant bundle… and I’m a bit smitten. The eyes… the smiles.. the cuteness overload. Anyway… the sentiment is stamped in White and doesn’t stand out the way I had hoped. Embossed with white would have been better. And the balloon is colored with Tahitian Tide Blends. The elephant & mouse are colored with Smoky Slate & Ivory Blends then die cut with the Elephant Dies.

I used a template made of the Candy Canes Dies (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) for placement of all the die cuts… laid it on the card front, added glue to each of the openings (one at a time of course) and placed the Parakeet Party pieces. They came from the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP. Once all were in place, I lifted my template and voila. I’m sending this to a friend of mine who has just become a first-time grandparent.

On the inside, the sentiment is stamped in Starry Sky ink and that sentiment comes from the Elephant Parade stamp set. The elephant is stamped in Smoky Slate ink and colored with same in Blends.

The envelope got a mix of Starry Sky & Parakeet Party 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP to tie it all together. The mouse was stamped in Smoky Slate and the balloon in Memento Black. Just right.

Stampin’ Up! Boughs of Holly + Merriest Moments for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hi there! We have a challenge for our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop that is sketch challenge and here’s what I did for it.

I’ve chosen to do a slimline card :O) for this challenge using the Boughs of Holly DSP as the main focus. I even used another piece of DSP as a layer behind the super colorful panel. I colored the Crinkled Seam Binding with a Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends to ‘tie’ it all together. And the sentiment on the front is on a Basic White piece stamped in Mossy Meadow ink using the Leaves of Holly stamp set & die cut with the Holly Berry Dies. These two coordinate & so when purchased together offer a 10% discount!!! Just sayin’… if you want this bundle, this is the way to go. OK, what else…you can see I slipped the ribbon behind the sentiment banner for a bit of fun. I think it adds a nice touch. The ribbon is adhered in place with a glue dot and the piece that slips behind the sentiment banner also has a glue dot. The banner is on dimensionals. Measurements will be given at the end of this post. :O)

Stampin' Up! slimline card, inside, Merriest Moments

For the inside I used another piece of the same DSP as on the layer on the front, from Boughs of Holly DSP. then added a Basic White panel. This panel is stamped using Merriest Moments stamp set. The sentiment is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink. The holly leaves are stamped first in Old Olive ink, stamped off, then with a sponge dauber, inked with Shaded Spruce ink and stamped on the panel. I love this look, the varied colors so similar to nature! Again, card stock measurements will be listed at the end of this post.

Stampin' Up! Slimline Envelopes

And here’s the Slimline Envelope (157981) decorated using the Merriest Moments stamp set.I inked the holly leaf stamp in Old Olive, stamped off, used the sponge dauber & Shaded Spruce ink to add a bit of variation, then stamped the envelope with each holly leaf. And that was it!!! YAY!

Hi there! I have a very fun & easy card for you today. Yes, layers, that’s me. It’s a fun fold.

Stampin' Up! Book-binding Gatefold Card

I’ve used the Boughs of Holly DSP and the Leaves of Holly stamp set with it’s coordinating dies: Holly Berry Dies.Notice this center sentiment banner. Gorgeous, right? The berries on the lower right are holding the gatefold closed by simply slipping part of the sentiment banner under the berries, which are on dimensionals of course. And here it is out from under the berries.

Notice how the ‘gate’ is open? Ok, how to make this beauty.

  • Cut the card base 4 1/4 x 11 & score @ 2 1/8, 3 3/8, & 8 7/8 (this is Real Red card stock) & burnish
  • Cut layering panels: 1 1/8 x 4 1/8, 2 x 4 1/8 (cut 2) * for inside 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 (this is Soft Succulent card stock)
  • Cut DSP panels: 1 x 4, 1 7/8 x 4 (cut 2) (this is Boughs of Holly DSP) Notice they are coordinating
  • Basic White square inside is 4 x 4
  • Thick Basic White : 6 x 4 for sentiment banner & berries

The first step is to create the book-binding… adhere together with a strong adhesive (I used Seal+) the scored area between 2 1/8 & 3 3/8. Adhere DSP panels to their like card stock cuts, then onto the card front. That’s really it except for decorating the card front :O)

To decorate: die cut 2 sentiment banners from Thick Basic White and from Evening Evergreen, the backing for the holly leaves. Adhere Evening Evergreen piece in place behind holly leaves, then adhere other banner piece to this for strength. Stamp sentiment in Real Red using the Leaves of holly stamp set.

Stamp berries ~ the detail is stamped first in Sweet Sorbet ink, then stamp over this with the more solid berry stamp in Real Red ink. Die cut with the appropriate die from Holly Berry Dies. Do this three times. Add one set of berries to the upper right corner of the sentiment banner, behind. Cut apart one set of berries to use two berries to add with dimensionals near the holly leaves. Close the Gate fold and adhere sentiment banner only on the left ‘gate’. Put dimensionals on the remaining set of berries and attach so the corner of the sentiment banner can slide under it. YAY, done! Now add several Rhinestone Basic Jewels for sparkle.

Here you can see five of the seven rhinestones added to the card front.

Stampin' Up! Book-binding Gatefold, inside

To create the inside is super easy too. Adhere the Soft Succulent panel first. Now stamp the Basic White piece: berries first. Detail stamp is Sweet Sorbet, more solid stamp is Real Red. Finally stamp the sentiment from the Leaves of Holly stamp set in Real Red. Adhere this panel in place and the card is finis. :O) Beautiful, right?

For the envelope I stamped the sentiment from Leaves of Holly in Real Red ink across the bottom front. The flap got more of the Boughs of Holly DSP. Lovely, fresh, cheery.

Stampin’ Up! Four-Panel Card: Leaves of Holly

Hello stampers… this is my second post for the day as I’ve had requests for measurements for a card posted recently. Don’t ya love it when folks ask for information? I know I do! Here’s the card…

And here are the measurements:

  • Card base: Soft Succulent 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2
  • Layer: Evening Evergreen 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 (cut 2, one for inside)
  • Layer: Basic White 3 3/4 x 5 (cut 2, one for inside)
  • Top left: Soft Succulent 1 5/8 x 3 1/8; DSP 1 1/2 x 3
  • Top right: Soft Succulent 1 5/8 x 1 7/16
  • Bottom right: Soft Succulent 1 5/8 x 2 3/8; DSP 1 1/2 x 2 1/4
  • Bottom left: 1 5/8 x 2 1/8

Stampin’ Up! Holly Berry Dies and More

Good Sunday morning! I have another Christmas card for you, and here it is mid August. :O) I’m just getting around to playing with the Holly Berry Dies ~ and yes, they coordinate with Leaves of Holly stamp set and you save 10% when purchasing together. It is a fabulous set. Let’s take a look …

Stampin' Up! Holly Berry Dies & More

Look at those gorgeous holly leaves. Such detail! And these are large leaves too. Ok, so here’s what I did… I covered the front of the card base (Basic White Thick) with Boughs of Holly DSP. I took another panel of Boughs of Holly DSP and backed it with a piece of Basic White, same size. I cut a Wonderful Snowflakes in half and played with placement as it was ton go behind the layer just cut. Once in place, I added the smaller layer on dimensionals. I did a bit of die cutting: Soft Suede for the detail of the holly and Shaded Spruce for behind it. I die cut another holly detail die in Basic White. I also die cut the two layers for the berries, using some scrap of the Boughs of Holly DSP that I covered the front of the card base. I loosely adhered one of the holly layers together, the other I adhered totally. And the berry dies I adhered together as well. I used a card on page 24 of the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog for my inspiration. After determining placement, I began adhering leaves & berries in place. I the cut a 1/2″ Natural Woven ribbon in half lengthwise, colored one side with a Stampin’ Blends with Light Crumb Cake, tied a bow and adhered it in place with a glue dot. The last part of the card front was the sentiment banner. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink on a Basic White piece then die cut it with a banner die from the Holly Berry Dies. I adhered this with dimensionals and called the card front done.

For the inside, I cut a panel of Boughs of Holly for my background and adhered it in place. On a basic White panel, I stamped the holly leaves in Shaded Spruce, second generation for the darker leaf, then continued third generation for the other two leaves. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink still using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. I adhered this panel in place and the card was done.

As you can see, more of the red Boughs of Holly DSP for the envelope flap. For the front, more holly leaves in Shaded Spruce using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. When stamping second and third generation, it’s best to re-ink between stamping, stamp off on a scrap then onto your main piece. Love this bundle of stamps & dies! You’ll see more of this I’m sure. 😁

Stampin’ Up! Leaves of Holly

Good morning Saturday. WOW – big temperature drop. It’s actually cool here. Tuesday it was 104; today we waken to 60! Big, big difference. Perhaps I can actually do some work outside today :O) My card… speaks of Christmas. It mostly uses Boughs of Holly Designer Series Paper and a bit of stamping using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. My card tomorrow shows off that stamp & die bundle.

Cards look so different in a photo… I started with a card base of Soft Succulent, then a layer of Evening Evergreen and Basic White – all adhered together. The next layer is all on dimensionals.

  • top left: Soft Succulent layered with Boughs of Holly DSO then a Textured Element adhered directly. I used the Pearlized Enamel Effects on each of the tips of this element for a bit of added sparkle.
  • top right: Soft Succulent base, clean with Embossing buddy to remove any static, stamp the two sentiments from Leaves of Holly stamp set in VersaMark, sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat set with the SU! Heat Tool. Once this has cooled, stamp the holly leaf in second generation Soft Succulent ink. Dot with Pearlized Enamel Effects.

  • bottom right: Soft Succulent base with holly leaf stamped in second generation Soft Succulent ink then dotted with Pearlized Enamel Effects.

Spacing is especially important in this kind of project so lay them out before attaching! The most difficult part for me on a project like this, is determining the sizes of the front layer. Once I do that, the rest is easy!!

This holly leaf from the Leaves of Holly stamp set are just beautiful! I stamped them in second generation Soft Succulent ink then stamped the sentiment (yep, Leaves of Holly stamp set) in full strength Soft Succulent on a Basic White piece. This I adhered to Evening Evergreen then attached it to the inside of the card.

More of the same pattern of Boughs of Holly DSP on the envelope flap, then second generation Soft Succulent ink stamped holly leaf from Leaves of Holly stamp set. Love the colors in this. The stamp bundle, Designer Series Paper, Pearlized Enamel Effects and the Textured Element may all be found in the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog. You’ll see more of these in tomorrows post – hint, hint.
