About TL's Bright Spot

I love to be creative - in the garden, crafting, and in leadership roles. There is something wonderful that happens when we design something new and share it with others. It's fun and makes everyone happy.

Stampin’ Up! Lots of Hearts of Elegance

Today’s card is just full of hearts and love and could easily be used for a wedding or anniversary OR Valentines card! I had so much fun playing and pulling out papers to coordinate.

Stampin' Up! Hearts of Elegance card front

I used the Marbled Elegance ONLINE EXCLUSIVE DSP for the very top two layered hearts & the largest most colorful heart. The stripe heart & the heart with circles are from the 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP, Pretty in Pink. The other two hearts are from a leftover piece that I had color blended with various shades of pink. All of these were die cut with the Hearts of Elegance Dies. These are layered on a Basic White panel run through the So Swirly embossing folder, which was then added to the Thick Basic White card base. The bow is made by pulling apart the strands on the White Bakers Twine from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack – and adhered to the heart with a glue dot. I added three Blooming Pearls in Gold, which are from the 24-25 Annual Catalog. This is the link to the card when I created the sheet with Blending Brushes and several shades of pinks.

Stampin' Up! Hearts of Elegance inside card

For the inside I stamped this sweet heart in Pretty In Pink ink then added another double bow using an additional length of the taken apart White Bakers Twine. It was added with a glue dot.

Stampin' Up! Hearts of Elegance card & envelope

For the envelope, I used another piece of the 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP to cover the flap, then stamped the very same heart as the inside on the envelope front.

Stampin’ Up! Heart Shaped for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning happy people! We are back with another fun hop today. My computer has been on the blink :O) and I haven’t posted anything since last week – eek!!! Today it is all about Sale-a-bration which is during Jan-Feb. I chose to play with the beautiful and delicate Heart Shaped bundle that is a’ ‘free’ item with a purchase of $120 in product. And it’s gorgeous.

Stampin' Up! Blog Hop
Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped card front

These dies are just so inspiring – and I’m using them for a card class today, making this card and another something else as well. :O) What I did here was inspired by a couple of demonstrators… Kim McGillis and Mary Ann Cowan. I began by using my Blending Brushes – the small ones – and using several inks – to color a piece of Basic White card stock. The colors I used were Petal Pink, Pretty In Pink and Melon Mambo & Basic Beige. Here’s what my page looked like after coloring.

Stampin' Up! BW Colored with blends & Heart Shaped Dies

I forgot to take a photo before doing so many die cuts, but I think you can easily see (‘cuz I slipped several die cuts back in place). This was a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and you can see how many I was able to get out of it.

The next step was layering these pieces – and really, you don’t have to use as many as I did, I just liked the look of several hearts. I used three hearts and three flowers, attaching them with tiny dots of liquid glue, off-setting each one slightly. The flowers got an additional center with the Antique Pearls (which are from the Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog).

For the card…

  • Thick Basic White card base cut 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.
  • Add with dimensionals a 4 x 5 1/4 Petty Pink panel.
  • Using the largest of the Stitched Shapes Dies and a panel of Basic White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, cie cut a circle equidistant from the top & sides
  • Lay this card front piece on the Petal Pink and adhere only the circle in the opening to the Petal Pink.
  • Wrap a length of ribbon (Scalloped Ribbon in Petal Pink) around the die cut card front and secure in back with tear n’ Tape.
  • Put dimensionals on this card front and adhere in place over the circle.
  • Adhere the heart die cuts to the circle with dots of liquid glue.
  • Stamp your sentiment w/ VersaMark ink on a Petal Pink strip and sprinkle with WOW White embossing powder; heat set with your heating tool. Once cool, die cut with the appropriate die from Heart Shaped Dies, shortening the length of the piece. Add the sentiment with two mini dimensionals.
  • Slip a length of the same Scalloped Ribbon in Petal Pink, under the ribbon in place and tie a knot. Secure in place with a glue dot. DONE!
Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped card inside

For the inside… I kept this very simple since the card front was frilly & feminine. I stamped the image of the flowers in Petal Pink ink on opposite sides of the Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 panel, then adhered the piece in place.

For the envelope, I stamped the partial image of the heart using the Heart Shaped stamp set, first stamping in Petal Pink ink, then stamping in Pretty In Pink ink, off-setting when I stamped – so it’s a double image.

Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped bundle card & envelope

I have more die cuts to use for something else, another card or ‘something’. Come back tomorrow to see how I used those.

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Butterflies & the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bundle card front

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies card front

I used Petal Pink for my standard card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). I layered a Basic White panel that I ran through the Starstruck embossing folder (free item during Sale-a-bration (Jan-Feb) with a qualified purchase.) My next layer is Petal Pink 1 3/4 x 5 that I ran through the Fern 3D embossing folder, & adhered it in place. The central focus is the Spotlight on Nature circle was cut from Basic White 3×3. This gorgeous butterfly is from the Beautiful Butterfly Bundle (stamps & coordinating dies) – which also includes a Hybrid embossing folder! I created the butterfly with a wash of color on Watercolor 100 paper with Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo inks. After drying I die cut with the Butterfly die. There are dies even for the butterfly body – which I also die cut from the same Watercolor 100 paper inked for the butterfly. I adhered the body tgo the butterfly with dots of liquid glue, then to the die cut circle. The circle is attached to the card with dimensionals. For a bit of glam, I added a double bow of Linen Thread and these (also free during Jan-Feb sale-a-bration) Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies card inside

For the inside I used a panel of Basic White (4 x 5 14) and stamped the butterfly from Beautiful Butterfly stamp set in Flirty Flamingo ink. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and stamped in Memento ink.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies card & envelope

For the envelope, I ran the flap through the Starstruck embossing folder and the same butterfly stamped on the front in Flirty Flamingo ink.

Now- just for fun… here’s another that I made using the Beautiful Butterflies bundle and suits the challenge, also using watercolor paper.

STAMPIN’ UP! Mixed Media Florals for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday – and welcome to Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We have a color challenge today and so many of these colors come from a specific DSP that I kept this super simple.

Stampin' Up! Mixed Media Florals card front

You can see I focused on the colors Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight & Boho Blue. The card base is Boho Blue, standard A2 card size 8 1/2 x5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. The Basic White panel is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 with the Mixed Media Florals DSP cut 3 3/4 x 5 and adhered to it. I wrapped the Navy ribbon from the Natural Tones Linen Thread pack around these two, twice, and tied a bow, adhering that with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment in Poppy Parade ink on a Basic White scrap and die cut with the Mixed Labels Dies. I love the design around the edge! I added three Opals Round Assortments in Daffodil Delight from the Annual Catalogue. I added dimensionals and attached to the DSP panels, then added those to the card base – also with dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Mixed Media Florals card inside

For the inside, I took a panel of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 and stamped this fun partial image from the Mixed Florals stamp set in Memento ink. I colored it with Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green. This was adhered directly to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Mixed Media Florals card & envelope

I did exactly the same for the envelope front… stamping a partial image in Memento ink and coloring it with the same Stampin’ Blends. You can clearly see the coloring is different :O) – and the card was done! See below the list of names for purchasing these products from me :O)

Stampin’ Up! Storybook Friends in a Bandstand Card

Good Tuesday January 7! Today is the day… the new Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog goes LIVE and… benefits of the Jan-Feb 2025 Sale-a-bration Catalog also go into effect. What that means is when you make a purchase of any Stampin’ Up! items: Kits Collection, Last Chance items, the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog OR the new MINI Catalog, Sale-a-bration items are available. How cool is that! There are two levels: a $60 purchase and a $120 Purchase – each allowing different products that are FREE TO YOU. So, shop, shop, shop!

Today’s card is another fun fold, called the bandstand, and it used products from the two mini catalogs going live today. The Designer Series Paper DSP) is a free Sale-a-bration item, and the rabbit, sentiment and delicate frame die are from the Storybook Friends bundle and Storybook Moments 12×12 SDSP. Here ya go…

Stampin' Up! Storybook Friends in a Bandstand Card

How sweet is that rabbit and how gorgeous that frame!!! I adhered the frame to a Window Sheet so all the DSP would show :O) The rabbit is fussy cut from the Storybook Moments SDSP and attached with dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo ink from the Storybook Friends stamp set and die cut with a die from Happy Little Things Dies, retiring. It is attached with a dimensional on the right end and liquid glue to the rabbit. And here’s the top-down view.

Stampin' Up! Bandstand card top-down view

This card fold flat and works perfectly in a standard envelope. Here’s the envelope for the card

Stampin' Up! Storybook Friends card & envelope

That cute rabbit is from the Storybook Friends stamp set and is stamped in Memento ink and colored with Stampin/ Blends: Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Peach Pie and Old Olive.

Here’s how to make this card…

Card base, back: 4 1/4 x 5 3/8 scored on long side at 3/4 & 4 5/8. Burnish.

Card base, front: cut 2 – 1 1/4 x 4 1/8, score on long side 3/4, 2 1/2, 4 1/2 & 6 1/4. Burnish. These are the pop-out sections.

Decorate:

  • Cut DSP for inside back, 5/8 x 4 1/8, 3 3/4 x 4 1/8 and again 5/8 x 4 1/8 and adhere to the inside back.
  • For pop-out sections: cut a single strip 1 1/8 x 5 1/8 then trim to 1 5/8 x 1 1/8, 1 7/8 x 1 1/8 and lastly 1 5/8 x 1 1/8. By cutting this as a single strip and trimming down, this allows for a continuous pattern. Do this twice, then adhere to the pop-out strips, leaving the ends without DSP

Turn strips over and adhere Tear n’ Tape to the ends as shown.

Stampin' Up! Bandstand Pop-Out strips

Putting together:

  • Leaving the strips face down, lay the decorated back panel, decoration side down and even at top of strip, centering the back panel between score lines. There will maybe be a 1/16″ between the score line and the back panel. Remoce cover on Tear n’ Tape & adhere to back panel. Do this again at the bottom. Notice there is ‘wiggle room’ on the ends in the photo – this is as it should be!
Stampin' Up! Bandstand card putting together

Now is the perfect time to decorate the back of the card where you can write your message.

Here I used Peach Pie as a nice contrasting color, 3 3/4 x 4 1/8, and adhered it to the back. I cut a Basic White 3 5/8 x 4 and stamped it with an image from Storybook Friends in Memento ink, coloring it with Stampin’ Blends: Peach Pie & Old Olive. I adhered this in place.

Decorate the front: the key here is to provide something to ‘stabilize’ the card and. to adhere it only to the center panel. It can extend beyond the center panel as the pop-out sections go back not forward.

  • Die cut from Basic White this gorgeous frame. With liquid glue adhere it to a Window Sheet.
  • Add Window Sheet to card front adhering only to the center panel with Stampin’ Seal
  • Fussy cut the bunny from the Storybook Moments SDSP OR use one of the fabulous pieces that can be punched out – 2 sheets of these are provided in the SDSP pack!

Fun, fun! And you can get these today – click the phot below to see what’s available in the Jan-April 2025 Mini Catalog.

Stampin’ Up! Fun Fold with Calming Creek Cards & Mixed Florals Bundle

Oh my – tomorrow – Jan 7 is the BIG DAY for ordering from the Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog AND using benefits from the Jan-Feb Sale-a-Bration Catalog. WooHoo! Excitement is building!!! My card today uses the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog and the Mixed Florals Bundle from an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE. I love this bundle (and it’s part of a suite of products too). So… here’s the card.

Stampin' Up! Calming Creek Card w/ Mixed Florals Bookfold

I folded the Calming Creek card on it’s score line then scored again at 3 1/4. Between the 4 1/4 & 3 1/4 scores I added adhesive to secure it in place. I wrapped that section with Bordered Ribbon in Basic Beige and secured it with a glue dot at the knot. I took one of the Elements of Text stamps (also an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE) and stamped a Basic Beige panel in two places with Memento Ink – see the image. I die cut the panel with second from the largest Perennial Postage Dies then removed just enough from the left edge for it to fit on the book fold front. Save this removed piece!

On a Basic White piece, I stamped the floral image in Memento ink and colored it with Stampin’ Blends: Wild Wheat, Daffodil Delight and Summer Splash. Once the coloring was complete, I added Wink of Stella to many of the small flowers, to the large flowers and to some areas of the leaves. I die cut this with the appropriate die from the Mixed Florals Dies, added dimensionals to the back and attached it to the card front. I then stamped the super cute lady bugs from Mixed Florals stamp set in Memento ink and colored with Petunia Pop Blends.

Stampin' Up! Calming Creek Book fold card inside

On the inside of the card I added the removed cut strip from the Perennial Postage die cut and that was it.

Stampin' Up! Calming Creek card & envelope

Here is the card with it’s own envelope. I love how they coordinate. And yes, I could have stamped a portion of the floral stamp, but chose to keep it simple.

Stampin’ Up! Mixed Floral with Calming Creek Cards &Envelopes

It’s 2025 – and quite frankly, I can’t believe it… but here we are. In two day – Jan. 7, 2025 the new Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog goes LIVE. WooHoo! Today’s card however, is from a fairly new ONLINE EXCLUSIVE called Mixed Florals, which can be a suite of products or individual items. Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes are from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. I received the cards & envelopes from my’ upline’ Mary Deatherage – as a thank you gift.

Stampin' Up! Mixed Florals w/ Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes

This card base from the Calming Creek cards is Misty Moonlight. In looking at the Color Wheel for ideas of colors for the flowers and leaves of the Mixed Floral stamp set, it suggested Poppy Parade, Lemon Lime Twist. I also added Granny Apple Green & Lemon Lolly – all in Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves & flowers of this gorgeous stamp from Mixed Florals. While it doesn’t really show in the photos… I also used lots of Wink of Stella – on the small flowers and the tulips. I also added three Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies which may be found in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. – and a bit of Linen Thread (one of my favorites!) with a double bow and a glue dot. The background for the flowers is a Basic Beige panel die cut with the Postage Stamp Dies and embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder.

For the inside, I used the border of the Postage Stamp Dies die cut from Basic Beige to adhere to a panel of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4. This is a wonderful card n- could be stamped for a birthday, just a note, hello or leave blank for your own comments. I’m making a set of these to give away – stay tuned!

Stampin’ Up! Spring Corners Thank You Card Fun Fold

Happy 2025! Here it is already Jan 3… oh my goodness, hard to believe! Before I share my card I want to say thank you to those who follow my blog, who order from me, who are part of my team – you are awesome and I am thankful, grateful for you. If there is something that I can do to help you in your creativity or in communication, whatever it is, please reach out to me. I am here to help support what you desire to do. Thank you again…

My card for today has this fun addition that is the fun fold part – almost like origami. I don’t know what the fold is called, but you can find it on Wild West Paper Arts, Rae Burnet – or Karen Titus.

Stampin' Up! Spring Corners Thank You Card front

This is a thank you card for a friend of ours who is an amazingly fabulous cook – or I really could say ‘chef’. She ‘volunteers’ at our local JBJ Soul Kitchen as one of the cooks. She is awesome… We were at her home for a fun gathering recently and this is a card specifically for her and for all she does – for me, for others.

I used the Take a Bow 6×6 DSP that is retiring very soon and the Spring Corners bundle which is an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE bundle. Let’s create the origami part first…. score each side of the 6×6 @ 1 1/2″, gently score. Remove corner pieces.

Stampin' Up! Spring Corners thank you card, origami part

Can you tell in this photo that four ‘corners have been removed? I hope so! After doing that, fold in to the score line, the right hand portion of the remaining bit – you can see the folds here. Cut a Real Red panel 3 x 3 and adhere to the center of the Take A Bow 6×6 DSP. Cut a panel of Basic White 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 and stamp using the Spring Corners Stamps. Here I did the sentiment in Garden Green ink and the bouquet in Real Red ink, then adhere it to the Real Red panel. Set aside.

Cut a piece of Basic White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 to create the card base. (You could make the card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). Add a panel of Take A Bow 6×6 DSP cut to 4 x 5 1/4 and adhere to the card base. With a 3 3/4 x 5 Basic White panel, stamp the corner sentiment in Real Red ink – using the Spring Corners stamp set. Adhere the ‘origami’ fun fold with liquid glue, then add three berries from ______________ just below the origami fold. And DONE!

Stampin' Up! Spring Corners Thank you card back

On the back of the Basic White card base I added die cut ‘corners’ from the Spring Corners dies and Garden Green card stock. I decided not to add any more sentiment as I want to say thanks to this woman who has worked so dedicatingly well with me this year and is such an amazing individual.

For the envelope… more of the Take A Bow 6×6 DSP adhered to the envelope flap and this sweet, sweet floral bouquet stamped in Real Red ink on the envelope front.

Stampin’ Up! Delightful Wishes for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hello – welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop – 2025!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR! We have a sketch challenge today and I have chosen to work with some of the Floral Delight Suite of products from the Jan-April 2025 Mini Catalog, which customers may begin ordering from Jan 7, 2025. WooHoo!

Stampin' Up! Delightful Wishes Bundle

I started with a Daffodil Delight card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4. I stamped around the edges with a leaf stamp from the fabulous Delightful
Wishes stamp set – using Old Olive ink. The next layer is Basic White 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 and added with dimensionals. I cut a panel of Floral Delight 12×12 DSP 3 3/4 x 5 and ran it through my Cut & Emboss machine with the extra fun die from Delightful Wishes Dies. See those cute florals peeking through with the Basic White showing? I adhered this to the Basic White panel then proceeded to stamp the sweet flowers from another of the Delightful Wishes stamp set. This particular stamp is a two-step, so I stamped in Dasffodil Delight ink, stamped off then stamped on a Basic White panel. The second stamp was full strength Daffodil Delight. I die cut these with the coordinating die from Delightful Wishes Dies and set them aside. I pulled out a piece of crumb Cake and die cut the branch using Delightful Wishes Dies, then with a Blending Brush added some Pecan Pie ink to create depth. I added these to the card front, trimming them as needed, then added the die cut flowers on dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Pecan Pie ink and die cut with a label die from this same Delightful Wishes Dies. Once that was added with dimensionals, I added three Tiny Bee Trinkets with a dab of liquid glue, and the Linen T
hread bow with a glue dot.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Wishes inside card

For the inside, I cut another panel of Floral Delight DSP 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered it to the inside. On a Basic White panel I stamped these sweet flowers in the same manner as those on the front – Daffodil Delight stamped off, then the detail full strength. I used the Old Olive Marker to color just the leaves I wanted to stamp around the flowers. And this was adhered to the inside.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Wishes card & envelope

For the envelope… I used yet another piece of Floral Delight DSP to add to the flap. And done! Now – time to see what others have created for the hop. Click the ‘next’ button or click on a name to take you on the hop. Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Sketch Challenge for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

What a week this has been. As I write this on Wed, I was so sick a week ago. Not over whatever it was/ is, but am so much better! At any rate – the hop… we have a sketch challenge and I chose to work with a new bundle that is a Sale-a-bration bundle available January 7. It’s called Heart Shaped.

Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped Bundle

I used my 2 3/8 circle punch to create 3 circles – 2 in Basic Beige and the center in Pecan Pie. I die cut the gorgeous heart from Calypso Coral and adhered it to the Pecan Pie. The plaid paper is from the Jan-Apr Mini Catalog, also available January 7 – cut at 3/4 x 5 1/2. I cut a 4 14 x 5 1/2 Calypso Coral piece and ran it through the So Swirly embossing folder and adhered that to the same color card base. I die cut three flower centers from the other side of this same Timeless Plaid 6×6 DSP and adhered directly to the circle and also with dimensionals. I added this super Tiny Bee Trinkets with liquid glue and a double Linen Thread bow with a glue dot, and ONLINE EXCLUSIVE Low Profile Dots in gold..

Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped bundle, card inside

On the inside, I cut a panel of Basic Beige 4 x 5 1/4, stamped just a portion of the sentiment from Heart Shaped stamp set in Calypso Coral in, then die cut three more flowers from Calypso Coral card stock I added each with just a dab of liquid glue then added the ONLINE EXCLUSIVE Low Profile Dots in gold.

Stampin' Up! Heart Shaped Bundle card & envelope

For the envelope, I added a 2 1/4 x 6 Timeless Plaid 6×6 to the flap and that was it.
