Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Thoughts Bookmarks

I have had trouble with my computer today – it would not assimilate my photos… 🥴😩 this is VERY late.

Happy Tuesday! Henri has moved on – finally. Very little wind but lots & lots of rain: 2 1/2″ in one day then yesterday another 3/4″. We have a rain gauge that is quite reliable 🙂

Today’s post is about using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch and Nature’s Thoughts Dies, along with some other fabulous Stampin’ Up! products to create bookmarks. Rainbow Glimmer paper was used to die cut the elegant feather with Nature’s Thoughts Dies. And each bookmark was colored using our Blending Brushes and several ink pads: Pale Papaya, Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Bermuda Bay, and Pacific Point.

Aren’t these fun? I confess that I used various retired ribbons for this project. They are a give-away item today to a group I help facilitate. It’s our last meeting and we’re doing a bit of a send-off., along with some yummies.

I die cut all the feathers first: Rainbow Glimmer paper as I mentioned earlier, with the feather die from Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Each tag is Thick Basic White card stock, imprinted with the verse with my computer. I then cut each tag 2 x 5 1/2 (some are shorter), punched them with the Fancy Tag Topper Punch then blended each one individually, depending on which feather was going to be adhered to it. I wanted them to coordinate but not be too matchy-matchy. Each feather was added with liquid glue. I double ribboned most of the tags cuz I liked the way it looked 🙂 and the tags were done. If they were a gift tag they could use some additional embellishment, but bookmarks need to be flat so I left them as you see them.

Using Blending Brushes allows for a lot of creativity: swirls, straight strokes, circles. And there is something cathartic about using the Blending Brushes – relaxing. So I’m encouraging you, if you haven’t used them before, do give it a try. I used three brushes: keeping the tones similar for each brush… Pale Papaya and Mango Melody, Pinks for another & the blues for another. Each time I began with the lighter color, then blended the darker in the same tone. Afterwards I washed each brush with water and allowed it to dry overnight before reusing it again. The ink stains the bristles somewhat, but really not much. The washing allows you to use the brushes in any color any time.

Stampin’ Up! More Whimsy

Hello friends! Hurricane Henri is headed to the Northeast this weekend… it doesn’t look as though it will be too bad here but we will still stack our patio chairs and bring in cushions ~ it can change in a heartbeat.

I’ve used another new product today from the Whimsy Suite of products – the Wonderful Snowflakes. Gosh they are delicate and pretty. I also used another pattern of the Whimsy & Wonder DSP and Whimsy Dies. I’m enjoying this set very much.

More Whimsy.1

Here’s the how to:

  • Misty Moonlight is the card base
  • The next layer is a Smoky Slate panel run through the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, adhered directly to the card base.
  • I took a piece of the Whimsy & Wonder DSP in Misty Moonlight and adhered it to a Basic White panel, wrapped it with a length of Metallic Mesh Ribbon that I scrunched together and attached in back with Stampin’ Seal. I put dimensionals on the back and added it to the card.
  • I die cut a snowflake from Silver Foil using the So Many Snowflake Dies, added a dimensional to it and attached it to the beautiful Wonderful Snowflake. I put another dimensional on the back of this snowflake and added it to the card front.
  • Finally – I added several Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials in Silver to the card to make it look like nice wet snowflakes. 🙂

For the inside…

More Whimsy.2, inside

Super duper simple…I had two leftover trees cut in Shimmer Paper using the Whimsy Dies ~ attached them to the Basic White panel with liquid glue. This was added to another Smoky Slate panel & adhered to the inside of the card. Done!

No sentiment on this card at all – intentionally. This could so easily be a sympathy card, birthday card, thinking of you card, thank you card, masculine card, or a Christmas card ~ all with a wintry look. I’ll add the sentiment when it’s needed.

For the envelope…

More of the same Whimsy & Wonder DSP on the flap trimmed to fit. For the front I stamped snowflakes in Misty Moonlight ink with the Snowflake Wishes stamp set.

Stampin’Up! Christmas Tree Dies with Peaceful Prints DSP

Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend – woohoo, right? How IS everyone… with this Covid variant flare-up, it’s got be nerve-wracking. Thinking about all of you out there – take care of one another.

I played with another new set that’s in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini catalog – the Christmas Tree Dies, part of the Whimsical Trees Bundle (page 25). And when I saw ‘played’ – just barely… this set is a gem and really, I’ve hardly touched it.

That tree is just a perfect match for this paper – Peaceful Prints 12 x 12 DSP – which is a FREE item in the Sale-a-bration catalog (with a purchase of $50). The two prints that I used on this card come from this pack of papers. So let’s talk about how I did this…

  • I did all the card cuts… Peaceful Prints DSP layered with Sahara Sand card stock.
  • I ran the Real Red card stock through the Bark 3D embossing folder – you know, tree, bark, they go together, right?
  • I cut the tree from Garden Green card stock using the C’mas Tree Dies
  • I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink on a Basic White panel using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set, then die cut using the Ornate Layers Dies

Once all the layers were die cut and stamped, I put it together:

  • the plaid panel was adhered directly to the Thick Basic White card base with Stampin’ Seal.
  • the Real Red embossed panel was added with dimensionals
  • the deer panel was adhered directly to the Real Red piece with Stampin’ Seal
  • the tree was added with dimensionals
  • the sentiment panel got double dimensionals (one on top of the other) under the two ends
  • as a final touch I added several Gilded Gems to the tree – and the card front was done…

For the inside…

  • stamp the sentiment in Sahara Sand ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set on a Basic White panel
  • stamp the tree, off-set, in Garden Green ink(stamping off once) using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set
  • layer this panel to a Sahara Sand card stock, then add it to the inside of the card – voila!

For the envelope…

On a Basic White envelope, stamp the trees with the Evergreen Elegance stamp set with Garden Green ink – stamping off once first, then not re-inking.

Cover the envelope with Peaceful Prints DSP, trim to fit and done, done, done.

Stampin’ Up! Stitched Triangles Birthday

It’s Tuesday – do you have something F-U-N planned? It’s our son-in-laws birthday today and I’ve made a special card for him… He tends toward the modern and straight lines, so I decided to follow that. We also have a bag that one of his presents is in and that determined the colors for the card, cuz I wanted them to coordinate. Silly? Maybe, but there it is. The cloth bag has tones of brown & a beautiful blue – I decided on Bermuda Bay and it almost matches perfectly! For the brown I used Soft Suede and it’s just ok… I think it looks good on the card.

I’ve used a RETIRED product – totally against the ‘rules’ but again, I wanted to use something that I thought our son-in-law would like. The retired item is Mercury Glass Designer Acetate in silver. A current item is the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate and I SHOULD HAVE used that, turned to the reverse side… but honestly I didn’t think of it. 😦 In my product list, Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate will show, cuz it will totally work!

Here’s what I did…

  • Die cut triangles from Pattern Party DSP – 2
  • Die cut triangles from Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate on the silver side – 2
  • Adhered them together offset – as shown in photo. using Stampin’ Seal (HINT/ TIP: Stampin’ Seal does not show through the acetate!)
  • Adhered to the card base – Thick Basic White as shown
  • Stamped sentiments from Biggest Wish stamp set: happy in Bermuda Bay ink and BIRTHDAY in Sahara Sand ink. I used the Stamparatus for this as it makes it really easy.
  • Added three Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins

For the inside I did some creative die cutting with additional dies from the Stitched Triangles Dies.

  • On the left I die cut directly into the Basic White panel using the Stitched Triangles Dies
  • I die cut two fun ‘banners’ from Soft Suede card stock then Bermudas Bay card stock and adhered them together with liquid glue, off-set.
  • Adhere the Basic White panel to a Bermuda Bay panel, slightly larger, with Stampin’ Seal, then into the inside of the card, again with Stampin’ Seal – – – and the card was D-O-N-E.

For the envelope…

  • Die cut a strip with one of the Stitched Triangles Dies from Bermuda Bay card stock
  • Adhere with dots of liquid glue to Soft Suede card stock the same length but slightly wider
  • Adhere to envelope with Stampin’ Seal – and both card & envelope are d-o-n-e. YAY… Gosh, I just looked at the photo and it’s hard to tell the Bermuda Bay from the Soft Suede <:(

I THINK our son-in-law will like this card – and his gifties. Such fun to create for others with what they like in mind.

Stampin’ Up! Love of Leaves Thinking of You

Hello! How’s your Saturday? It’s beautiful here on the East Coast… and a good day for some outdoor activities 🙂 While it is still full swing summer here, I chose to make this easy, fun, fall card. It uses the stunning Stitched leaves Dies that emboss and die cut all in one movement. This is a carry-over item into the 2021 Annual Catalog that coordinates with the Love of Leaves stamp set, but for this card I have used some new products available in the to the general public from the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog. Aug 3 is that big date!

Love of Leaves & Stitched Leaves Dies.1

What are the new products? The awesomely sparkly Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP is one of the new items on this card; the other is the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots in gold. The white bow is made by pulling apart a length of the Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and attaching it with a glue dot. This is a new item in the 2021 Annual Catalog.

Ok, so you see the colors: Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider and the Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP, layered on a piece of Early Espresso card stock (which was added to the card base with dimensionals). The card base is Very Vanilla that has been run through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. The large leaf was adhered just in the center with liquid glue. The Cinnamon Cider leaf got dimensionals and was placed over the large leaf. The Cherry Cobbler leaf was adhered with liquid glue as well. The inspiration for this card came from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge as seen in the sketch below. What do you think? Does it look like the sketch?

Each of the leaves has been die cut with the Stitched Leaves Dies, two of them have that wonderful stitching that looks like veins in the leaves. I REALLY like these! Of course I like the large leaf too, but I didn’t think the veins would show on that sparkly DSP. What else can I tell you about this – oh, the long Cinnamon Cider leaf was cut from the 2020-2022 In Color 6×6 DSP.

Let’s take peek at the inside of the card.

I die cut this small leaf from Cherry Cobbler card stock scrap and once I put the card front together, here was this fun scrap. I decided to add it to the inside of the card with liquid glue. It brings a fun element to the card. I stamped the sentiment from the Loves of Leaves stamp set with Cinnamon Cider ink. All this was done on a Very Vanilla panel which was added to the inside of the card.

The leaf stamps in the Love of Leaves stamp set are distinctive, which means they don’t make a solid image. The large leaf in this set was stamped in 2nd & 3rd generation with Cinnamon Cider ink on the front and the flap.

It seems strange to make a fall kind of card at this time of year, but that’s what seem to come together – and I like it. It’s just that it won’t get used for a while!

Hi there! It’s Wednesday the 28th – just days away from the END of the 15% off select DSP sale (Aug 2) and the LAUNCH of the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog (Aug 3) & Sale-a-bration catalogs (Aug 3 – Sep 30). WhooHoo! Shall we call this WooHoo Wednesday? Silliness, right? OK … today’s project is the envelope for a Diagonal Gatefold card. The card information was shared in yesterday’s post which you may see here. The envelope is created with one of the paper packs avail in the 2021- 2022 Annual Catalog called Pattern Party DSP. It is available when you make a purchase of $300 or more. The pack is wonderful – black & white on one side and colorful on the other. Below is the finished envelope for a look see. The “address” label on the front shows the other side of this particular piece.

The how to…

  • Cut the DSP 8 1/2 x 12: score on the LONG side 3/4, 7 3/4; score on the SHORT side 7/8, 6 3/4
  • Burnish all score lines and trim – see photo for reference

  • Use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the edges of the flap
  • Add Tear n Tape to the outside pieces just long enough for the fold up of the bottom.
  • Add Tear n Tape to the flap as well

  • Fold up bottom and adhere. You can clearly see that I ran the Tear n Tape too long on the sides. I simply rolled it down once the covering was removed and it worked perfectly.
  • Using the Seasonal Labels Dies to cut a panel for the front to use as an address label. I used some of the same Pattern Party DSP for the label. The seasonal Labels Dies will be available in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog beginning Aug 3. It is part of the Christmas Season Bundle.

Stampin’ Up! Anniversary Card w/ Hand-Penned

Oh my – I am smitten with Hand-Penned: Memories & More Card Pack, Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, the DSP, the bundle, the whole nine yards! For my project today I’ve created another anniversary card.

Anniversary Card with Hand-Penned.1

I used the card pack (Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack) to create the pretty polka-dot banner as well as the floral background for the sentiment. They are heavier weight than the DSP, so have a strength that doesn’t require a backing. After trimming the banner to make it 2″ wide, I used the Tailored Tag Punch to create the end. This was adhered just at the top to a slightly wider Basic White panel, and the end was trimmed to match the polka dot one. I wrapped the Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya around the top and tied a bow, adhering the knot with a glue dot. This was adhered to the card front (from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Cards & Envelopes) with liquid glue. The sentiment banner background piece was die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and added to the Garden Green 5/8″ wide strip with Seal+. I stamped the sentiment from Elegantly Said stamp set in Memento Black ink on a Basic White scrap then die cut it with another of the fantastic dies from Stitched So Sweetly Dies. This also was mounted with dimensionals on the background panel. Three 2021-2023 In Color Jewels were added for a bit of glam – love the added touch! The Garden Green strip was now added to the card front with dimensionals and the card front was done…

Anniversary Card w/ Hand-Penned.2

For the inside, I took a panel of Mint Macaron (3 1/2 x 5 1/2 and adhered it to the inside of the card. I then stamped the pretty floral from Hand-Penned stamp set in Memento Black ink on a Basic White panel (3 1/2 x 5). The word CONGRATULATIONS also comes from the Hand-Penned stamp set and was stamped in Memento Black ink. The Basic White panel was adhered with liquid glue and voila – all done.

The envelope is part of the Hand-Penned Cards & Envelopes and is beautiful as is. The project is ready to send to someone special.

Stampin’ Up! True Love & Happy

It is Super Bowl weekend! Woohoo! And what are YOU doing during Super Bowl? I’ll probably color something while watching the game – it’s the perfect time. Or fussy cut… but that’s not my preference. Speaking of coloring, todays card uses the Stampin Blends and it gives a bolder look than the card of yesterday with the pencils. I used another one of the True Love DSP papers too. Let’s take a look…

True Love Happy #1

This card incorporates the Pretty Perennials stamp set in the sentiments on the card front and the word ‘happy’ just pops! I colored just the smallest of the flowers using both the Light & Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends – just enough to tie in the Daffodil Delight card stock it sits on and the Ruched Ribbon, also in Daffodil Delight.

I stamped the word ‘happy’ in VersaMark ink on a piece of Basic Black card stock after using the embossing buddy to clear it of any static, then sprinkled White embossing powder over the ink and heat set it. Once it cooled a bit I fussy cut the word. I then adhered it to a piece of Basic White card stock and fussy cut around it again, giving it a white border. I stamped the word ‘birthday’ also from the Pretty Perennials stamp set, in Memento Black ink on a Basic White scrap and punched it with the Classic Label Punch. After deciding where I wanted to place the larger word, I ran a strip of Stampin’ Seal across and wove the Ruched Ribbon to just the way I wanted it, and the Stampin Seal held it nicely in place. I put dimensionals on both sentiments, adhering the larger word first, then the ‘birthday just over the ends, also on dimensionals. I added three 2020-2022 Enamel Dots in Bumblebee for the final touch.

The True Love DSP panel was adhered to Daffodil Delight card stock, put on dimensionals then added to the Thick Basic White card base and the card front was complete.

True Love Happy #2

For the inside I added a 3/4″ strip of the same True Love DSP to the bottom of the Basic White panel after coloring with the Daffodil Delight Stampin blends. This panel was adhered to a Daffodil Delight panel with liquid glue then to inside of the card base, also with liquid glue – and the card was done. Easy peasy…

For the envelope I did no coloring, just added a strip of the True Love DSP to the envelope flap and that’s it. A bright, cheery card ready to send to someone special.

Hi everyone! It’s been a couple of days since I posted… things have been a bit crazy here. Another gorgeous day here on the East Coast. Truly, I wish this would last a while. We’ll wait for Mother Nature to decide though :O) Today’s card…

And here’s how…

  • With an acrylic block, stamp the block on an ink pad, stamp off then stamp on the Whisper White card stock This leaves a fun background on which to stamp.I first used Mango Melody, then Pacific Point then Just Jade inks. It doesn’t make a sold imprint but one that easily will show another stamp over it.
  • With Tuxedo Memento Black ink, stamp the image directly on the center of the ‘inked spot’. This adorable ornament comes from Tag Buffet stamp set.
  • I did some minor coloring on each ornament using Mango Melody Blends, Pretty Peacock Blends and Just Jade Blends.
  • Stamp the word ‘believe’ in the open area of the center ornament. This comes from Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • Using a Take Your Pick Tool, poke a hole in the ornament top and slip a bit of string or  ribbon through to the back and tape. Here I used the Misty Moonlight/ silver Bakers Twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack. Add a bow with a glue dot on the center ornament.
  • Adhere this completed Whisper White panel to a piece of Pacific Point card stock.
  • Adhere a panel of Bright 6×6 DSP to the Thick Whisper White card base with liquid glue.
  • Now attach the decorated  panel to the card front with dimensionals.
  • The sentiment banner was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a Thick Whisper White 1/2″ strip. 
  • I trimmed the ends with the Banners Pick a Punch. Adhere with dimensionals to the card front.
  • For a final touch I added these fun and elegant Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems.

The inside was super easy…

  • Add a strip of the Brights 6×6 DSP in Pacific Point to the bottom of the card.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • Adhere to card inside with liquid glue.

  • With another piece of the Brights 6×6 DSP in Pacific Point, adhere with liquid glue to the envelope flap and trim to fit.
  • Stamp the ornament o0n the front of the envelope with Tuxedo Black Memento ink using the Tag Buffet stamp set.
  • Again I colored with Just Jade Blends and Bronze Blend for the top. Remember to slip a piece of scrap card stock in. the envelope before coloring or the blends will bleed through.

  • Fun card to create folks and so easy using an acrylic block to create the background.

SU! Winter Woods

Howdy! It’s Sunday… do you have routines for a Sunday? We certainly do… and they have changed some ever the last several months due to the pandemic. I look back and remember the routines of my family on a Sunday – it was something that could be counted on. I wonder in our routines of a Sunday if it’s something that will be handed down. I just finished reading a book by Lisa Wingate – The Book of Lost Friends. It’s about generational history, beautifully written. I highly recommend it.

Today’s card looks like tradition to me – a stately tree, decorated for the holidays.

Here’s what’s needed for this project….

  • Thick Whisper White card stock and regular Whisper White cs
  • Winter Woods stamp set
  • Cherish the Season stamp set (inside sentiment)
  • Ornate Frames Dies (banner on front)
  • Just Jade card stock/ ink
  • Cherry Cobbler ink
  • Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder
  • Star Designer Elements
  • Wonderful Gems

On a Whisper White panel, stamp this beautiful tree from Winter Woods stamp set in Just Jade ink. My inking pad is very inky so it was necessary for me to stamp off once. With another Whisper White scrap – say 1 1/4 x 3, stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink. I love this combined font – so crisp! Using a die from Ornate Frames Dies, die cut, add dimensionals and adhere under the tree. Adhere this tree panel to Just Jade cs. It too should have dimensionals before adhering to the Thick Whisper White card base. I added the Star Element at the tree top, then the Wonderful Gems all over the tree and on the sentiment panel as well.

I love how this turned out, and there’s a story here. I had cut my Whisper White panel and must have gotten distracted, cuz I stamped the trees as though it was a landscape profile, not portrait!  (Yes, I needed to stamp off once more.) I went ahead and stamped the sentiment from Cherish the Season stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink. It was then I realized the error. 😳 Instead of going into a panic, I simply cut the inked paper down to size, adhered it with liquid glue to the Just Jade panel and then into the card base. I adhered another panel below it for writing a message. Project saved!!!

I used a strip of Just Jade cs and ran it through the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder, adhered it with liquid glue and cut it to fit. For the from I stamped this sweet pine needle from the Winter Woods stamp set along the side and bottom in stamped off once Just Jade ink, And the card is complete – yay…
