Stampin’ Up!

It’s Monday morning and a full day ahead… what are your plans? I’ve a bit of computer work today, card making :o), gardening :O) and more, but first, I want to share this masculine birthday card. Part of what makes it masculine is the colors, another is its simplicity and non-fussiness.

I began with retiring Sahara Sand card stock to make this A2 top fold card. Does it seem that I’m trying to use my stash in preparation for all the new? Well – you are sooooo right! I have gotten stuck however, using what’s on my desk. :O( Nonetheless… here’s the card.

Stampin' Up! Masculine birthday w/ By the Bay DSP

As I mentioned, Sahara Sand for the card base. Starting from the front:

  • By the Bay DSP cut 2 7/8 x 3 7/8
  • Layer this to Basic White 3 x 4
  • Adhere both to a coordinating By the Bay DSP 3 7/8 x 5 1/8
  • And Balmy Blue 4 x 5 1/4.
  • Wrap with a length of Burlap Ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack (carrying over!). Adhere ribbon in back with Stampin’ Seal
  • Adhere all this to the card base with dimensionals
  • Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White scrap. This sentiment comes from Waves of Inspiration stamp set – carrying over!
  • Die cut sentiment with Waves Dies, carrying over… and adhere over the ribbon with dimensionals
  • Add three Enamel Dot Essentials in Crumb Cake and the front is complete
Stampin' Up! Masculine birthday, inside

For the inside… adhere a Basic White 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 to a Balmy Blue piece 4 x 5 1/4. Adhere a strip of By the Bay DSP to the bottom and attach all this to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Masculine birthday w/ By the Bay, card & envelope

The envelope… super simple… a coordinating piece of By the Bay DSP for the envelope flap and this masculine card is ready to be sent.

Here’s the exciting part about the products used for this card… The Waves of Inspiration stamp set and its coordinating Waves Dies are carrying over… just not as a bundle. The Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack is also carrying over. Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Basic White card stock are also carrying over, as are the Balmy Blue ink and Night of Navy inks. :O) What is not carrying over into the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog is the By the Bay Designer Series Paper and the Enamel Dot Essentials or the Sahara Sand card stock. Prices are changing in the new catalog… production costs have risen as everything else has risen (such as food costs, clothing costs, gasoline, etc.) If you have a chance, check out getting these carry-over items now before the price increases with the new catalog. You may do that order from me here.

When you place an order of $50 or more (before shipping & taxes), you receive from me a SU! item valued up to $10 + Star-Studded Rewards. If your order exceeds $150, do not use my HOST CODE as SU! has it’s own rewards from which you may choose. You will still receive that FREE ITEM from me up to $10 + the Star-Studded Rewards.  And if your order is $50 or more I will also send you my monthly class tutorials. BONUS! :O)

Stampin’ Up! Waves of Inspiration Masculine Card

Good Sunday morning! I have a quick and easy masculine card for you today using By the Bay Designer Series Paper and the Waves of Inspiration stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Waves of Inspiration

Notice how the DSP has a continuous flow of the pattern. I love it when that happens! The DSP was cut 1 x 4 (three of them) and adhered to a Balmy Blue panel 3 1/2 x 4 1/2. This was attached to a very slightly larger Sahara Sand card stock, 3 5/8 x 4 5/8. I wrapped this gorgeous Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon around these panels and tied a knot. These panels were adhered the to a Night of Navy card base with dimensionals. I took this wonderful image of the seagull on pilings from Waves of Inspiration stamp set and stamped it with Sahara Sand ink. I colored the bill of the seagull very lightly with Watercolor Pencils Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie, die cut with the Waves Dies and attached it over the ribbon with dimensionals. And the card front was done.

Stampin' Up! Waves of Inspiration Masculine card inside.
Stampin' Up! By the Bay DSP

For the inside…. a Sahara Sand panel was attached to the inside of the card, then a piece of Basic White, then a strip of the Bay the Bay on the left side. Also on the inside, I added another piece of the By the Bay DSP to the upper portion of the inside. It just really tied everything together and made the card extra special.

Now for the envelope…

Stampin' Up! Waves of Inspiration card & envelope

This Waves of Inspiration stamp set is just gorgeous! I stamped it first in Balmy Blue ink on the envelope front, then lightly added Night of Navy ink in places and stamped it again. It is really quite stunning. Of course, more of the By the Bay DSP on the envelope flap trimmed to fit.

Here’s the exciting part about the products used for this card… The Waves of Inspiration stamp set and its coordinating Waves Dies are carrying over… just not as a bundle. The Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon is also carrying over. Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Basic White card stock are also carrying over, as are the Balmy Blue ink and Night of Navy ink. AND the Watercolor Pencils are also carrying over :O) What is not carrying over into the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog is the By the Bay Designer Series Paper.

Prices are changing in the new catalog… production costs have risen as everything else has risen (such as food costs, clothing costs, gasoline, etc.) If you have a chance, check out getting these carry-over items now before the price increases with the new catalog. You may do that order from me here.

As so many items are being sold out rapidly, best thing to do is visit my ‘shop’ and see what’s still available. If it’s listed, it’s available. If it isn’t listed, it’s sold out – simple as that. The sale goes to May 1, 2023.

And… here’s my HOST CODE CXR49K4W for ordering any products from the retiring lists or any other items… order from me here and be sure to use my HOST CODE CXR49K4W. Look for my name listed as your demonstrator at the top of the page!

TriFold Shutter Card

Happy Friday! Fun folds are just that, fun. And sometimes easier than they look. I’m sharing a trifold shutter card today that really is quite easy and is a real “show off”. It’s a card within a card. :O) I’ve used Fancy Flora DSP (again!) as it has what I call, a continuous pattern. To coordinate with that, I also used the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and it’s coordinating Two-Tone Dies.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with DSP

This begins with a full length of card stock 11 x 5 1/2, scored on the long side at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 5 1/4 and 7. I used Petal Pink card stock for this. Burnish the score lines: mountain, valley, mountain and valley. The next step is to place this on the paper trimmer with the short side to the top and at 1 1/4. Cut from the 1 3/4 score line to the 5 1/4 score line. Turn it over and do the same on the other side. It should look like this.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card

Cut Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper: it’s helpful to use a DSP that has a continuous pattern and this works really well. Remove 1″ from the top of the 6×6 piece. With the long side at top, cut four pieces 1 1/2 x 5, keeping them in order. Adhere pieces 1 & 4 to the first & fourth panels of the card stock. With the bottom end of the two remaining pieces, trim to 1″ and attach to panels 2 & 3, following the continuing pattern. Turn around and with top of those two strips, cut 1″ from top. Attach those to the tops of panels 2 & 3. That leaves centers of panels 2 & 3 blank. Making certain to follow the continuous pattern of the DSP, trim the remaining piece that coordinates with panel 3. It should measure 1 1/2 x 2 1/2. Now cut a 2 3/4 square with a coordinating card stock. I chose Soft Suede. Cut another piece of Soft Suede 7 1/2 x 5, score on long side @ 3 3/4. Burnish and add to back 4″ panel of the Petal Pink card base. This is what makes the card within a card.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter card in steps

Cut a piece of Basic White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 (cut 2) for the additional card panels. Cut a piece of Basic White 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 for the very front of the card. Adhere this square to the 2 3/4″ square.

Stamp the two panels that are 3 1/2 x 4 3/4: one is for the inside of the back card, while the other is for it’s front. Use Soft Suede ink to stamp the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set and add to the ‘back’ card front. On the other panel, same size, stamp the flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set, in stamped off Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the detail of that flower with full strength Calypso Coral ink. Adhere both to the appropriate panels.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter card.. full length
Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with inside card

Notice another panel of DSP on the opposite side of the stamped panel – yep.. that’s a piece of the Fancy Flora DSP, but the reverse side :O) All that’s left to do now is decorate the 2 1/2″ square on the card front. On a scrap of Basic White, stamp the flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set in stamped-off Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the more details flower patten with full strength Calypso Coral ink. Die cut the flower with Two-Tone Flora Dies. Stamp two sets of leaves in Evening Evergreen ink as it coordinates with the DSP :O). Die cut with Two-Tone Flora Dies. Attach the two leaf sets to the back of the flower with dimensionals. See photo.

Stampin' Up! Two-Tone Flora flower

Add more dimensionals to the back of the flower. Attach a length of the Open Weave Ribbon in Soft Succulent to the Basic White square. Attach flower over the ribbon to the Basic White square of the card front. With the card closed, add three large Iridescent Pastel Gems in Calypso Coral, then two small Iridescent Pastel Gems in Calypso Coral.

Stampin' Up! Trifold Shutter Card with Fancy Flora

For the envelope… more Fancy Flora DSP to the envelope flap. For the envelope front, stamp the same flower from Two-Tone Flora stamp set with stamped-off Calypso Coral ink, and the detail stamp with full strength Calypso Coral ink. DONE!!!

This DSP is retiring and it’s stunning. The ribbon is also retiring, as is Soft Suede card stock & ink, and Evening Evergreen ink. The Iridesent Pastel Gems are also retiring.

Since these items have been available for a bit, it’s best to check so you know exactly what is available. you may do that here. order from me here

Stampin’ Up! By the Bay Fun Fold + Designer Series Paper Share Info

Good Wednesday morning! We have beautiful weather temps today, but there is a brush fire somewhere making everything very smoky :O( Ugh. My card today is using a retiring DSP, By the Bay and a carrying over product Something Fancy stamp set & it’s coordinating Something Fancy Dies. And… I’m frustrated… my box of new goodies from Stampin’ Up! is ‘stuck’ somewhere and has yet to be delivered. But this By the Bay is just stunning Designer Series Paper. So let’s take a look at the card ~ and I’ll get past this disappointment.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold

This begins with a Balmy Blue card base 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. With the long side up, remove 2 3/4 of the length. Set that piece aside as it becomes that front extended panel :O) Begin layering… Basic White 2 1/2 x 4 on the front left panel and on the set aside piece (cut 2). Layer on that the By the Bay DSP cut 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 (cut 2). What I did here was use the shell pattern for the front and the reverse side of the DSP for the side panel. I wrapped a length of the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack in Crumb Cake around the front panel and tied a bow. I then die cut a Balmy Blue using the Something Fancy Dies, put dimensionals on it and secured it over the twine. I secured the bow in place with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set on a Basic White piece with Balmy Blue ink and die cut it with the next smaller die from Something Fancy Dies. This was adhered with dimensionals to the Balmy Blue banner. I then took this completed front panel and attached it only on the left side to the left front of the card.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold, inside

For the inside… I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set in Balmy Blue ink on the Basic White panel (4 x 5 14), making certain it would not peek out from behind the front flap of the card.. I adhered this in place with my adhesive of choice, green glue. You can certainly use Stamp[in’ Seal if that is your preference. Once in place, I closed the front of the card and added these Balmy Blue Solid Faceted Gems (retiring!)

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold card & envelope

Stampin’ Up! Hand-Penned Petals with Country Gingham 6×6 DSP

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop Group! Our challenge this time is to create something “For The Ladies/Girls” and we could create this any way we wanted. I have created a very ‘girlie’ card, feminine in other words.

Stampin' Up! Amy's Inkin' Krew Blog Hop Group
Stampin' Up! Hand-Penned Petals

I’ve used Country Gingham 6×6 DSP adhered to a Mint Macaron card base to get me started. Then a Basic White panel with the long side run through the cut & emboss machine using this adorable scallop die from Penned Flowers Dies. I stamped the floral image in Memento ink using the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set, then colored it with So Saffron Blends and Soft Succulent Blends. This was die cut with the coordinating die in the Penned Flowers Dies and added to the scalloped panel with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from Hand-Penned Petals, also in Memento ink, then added the scalloped panel with dimensionals to the card front. The bow is tied with White Crinkled Seam Binding and attached with a glue dot. And finally… Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels for the sparkly touch.

Stampin' Up! Hand-Penned Petals + Penned Flowers Dies

For the inside, another panel of Basic White die cut with the scalloped die from Penned Flowers Dies :O), followed by stamping the flower stem in Evening Evergreen ink and the Flowers in So Saffron ink. This was adhered to another panel of the Country Gingham 6×6 DSP, then into the inside of the card ~ and done.

Stampin' Up! Hand-Penned Petals card & envelope

For the envelope… more of the Country Gingham 6×6 DSP adhered to the envelope flap, then run through the die cutting machine with what else – the scallop die from Penned Flowers Dies! L-O-V-E this extra feminine touch! For the front of the envelope, I did the same stamping as the inside of the card: Evening Evergreen ink for the stem and So Saffron ink for the flowers.

Each of the products used in the card (except Memento ink & Basic White card stock) is retiring as of May 1 and is on the LAST CHANCE PRODUCT list. The Country Gingham 6×6 DSP is on the Jan-April 2023 Mini Catalog list. More info about that below!

Stampin’ Up! Radiating Stitches Dies with Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP and More

I made this card a bit ago and forgot to post it… do you know how this happens? At any rate… a friend asked for a card (or two) to be used as a sympathy card. I also needed a card of congratulations for a man and since I was on a roll – why not do both with the same dies just different Designer Series Paper? I’m pleased with how they both turned out – hope you like as well.

Stampin' Up! Radiating Stitches Dies with Fancy Flora DSP

I used a piece of the Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP and layered the dies next to one another ran it through the die cutting machine. This created three die pieces to use. With the largest panel, I added dimensionals to the back and attached it to a Soft Succulent card base. The center piece is also on dimensionals and centered in the opening. I used Evening Evergreen ink to stamp on a Basic White strip then die cut with a banner die from the Sending Smiles Stamp set. This was attached with liquid glue directly to the center panel with dimensionals on the ends. For an additional touch three Loose Frosted Dots were attached with tiny dabs of liquid glue.

Stampin' Up! Radiating Stitches Dies, inside card

For the inside I added the remaining die cut piece to a panel of Basic White, also run through the Radiating Stitches Dies. It created a wonderful outline! Can you see the heart? That is also from the Radiating stitches Dies set – and die cut from a scrap of Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP.

Stampin' Up! Fancy Flora 6x6 DSP with Radiating Dies

For the envelope I added more Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP to the flap & trimmed to fit. I stamped the front of the envelope with stamps from the Sending Smiles Stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink.

Here’s the congratulations card…

Stampin’ Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy

Good Friday Morning! I have a couple of quick cards for you today, both very similar and made with By the Bay Specialty DSP (retiring product!) and Inspired Thoughts stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy #1
Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy #2

The card on the left has an additional layer of embossed Basic White (with Cross Hatch embossing folder) behind the DSP layers. The left card uses Shimmer Ribbon and Festive Pearls in Silver, while the right card uses Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and Classic Matte Dots. The left card is stamped in Gray Granite ink while the right card is embossed with White Embossing powder and heat set. Both use the Label Me Fancy Punch for the sentiment banner. The card on the left was made for a gentleman who lost his mother and the card on the right was made for a woman – same formats, just a bit different.

Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy #1 inside

The card on the left uses Night of Navy ink for the sentiment (from Inspiring Thoughts stamp set) while the card on the right is Gray Granite ink. Both are stamped on Basic White with a layer of Night of Navy ~ and both have a card base of Gray Granite card stock.

Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy card & envelope #1
Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts Sympathy card & envelope #2

The lighting is so different on these two cards! Go figure… I’m curious, do you have a preference? Do you like one card better than the other? I think my preference is the card on the left with the embossed layer of white.

Card cuts are listed at the bottoms of this post.

Stampin’ Up! Fancy Flora Step Fun Fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the hop! This is a talented group of folks with whom I am privileged to participate. And this week we have a color challenge!

Stampin' Up! Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop 3/6
Stampin' Up! Blog Hop Color Challenge 3/6

The colors I chose were Orchid Oasis, Calypso Coral , and Soft Succulent . Plus of course, the Fancy Flora DSP that brings it all together. Here’s my Step Fun Fold.

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold.hop 3/6

I used Orchid Oasis as the card base, cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. I also used the Fancy Flora 6×6 DSP for the main focus. I wanted a continuity, all of it cut to piece together like a puzzle. And, I think it worked! I also stamped the flower in Calypso Coral ink and the leaves in Soft Succulent ink for the ferny kind of leaves, and Evening Evergreen ink for the 2 leaves. I used the Two-Tone Flora stamp set & Two-Tone Flora Dies to create the flowers & leaves. The sentiment is stamped using the Something Fancy stamp set with Orchid Oasis ink on a Basic White panel and die cut with the Something Fancy Dies. I added three small Pearl Basic Jewels around the die cut flower for a bit of femininity.

It stands like this…

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold.hop 3/6,side view

This is a side view when standing, so you can see how it folds and makes a ‘step’. It’s super easy, you just must be extra careful making the cuts correctly and the score lines. The template below should guide you.

It’s easier to show a template with score lines and cuts than to explain it. Here that is… dotted lines are score lines. You may need to enlarge this to see it better :O)

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold Template

On the back of the card is Basic White panel stamped using the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and Orchid Oasis ink. Please understand, there are two places this panel could be placed: on the back as I did here, or on the inside. Since this card was going to my hubby’s sister, he got to choose the placement :O)

Stampin' Up! Back side of Step Fun Fold
Stampin' Up! fully open Step Fun fold
Stampin' Up! inside Step Fun Fold

It’s clear here, the stamped panel for the back, the full card open (just not standing!), and the inside of the card – again where a stamped panel could be placed.

Stampin' Up! Step Fun Fold card & envelope

For the envelope, more of this gorgeous Fancy Flora DSP on the flap and some fun stamped flowers in Orchid Oasis ink from the Two-Tone Flora stamp set. Gorgeous, gorgeousness. Hope you like… my hubby was thrilled to send this to his sister.

Stampin’ Up! Friends Are Like Seashells Book Fold

Good Sunday morning – actually, Palm Sunday morning. Spring is definitely in the air. I ordered several Hellebores (Lenten Rose) and they arrived this week. It’s been too cold at night to plant them yet (30 degrees) and it’s best to try to acclimate plants a bit at a time anyway. Yesterday it was 60 degrees so I took them outside is a shaded sun area, then was able to leave them overnight as temps didn’t go too low. I was able to do the same with coleus I had rooted from last years plants then potted – and they look super this morning.

You did not join me to talk about plants… this is another book fold with By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP ( I was on a roll) but I used a seashell pattern and paired it with Friends are like Seashells bundle. Love this bundle & I’m sad it’s going away… but it is time to make room for new :O) I also used the Lasting Label Punch for the sentiment banner and Faux Sea Glass Shapes to decorate the banner – all of which will be retiring as of May 1. Don’t you love those Sea Glass Shapes?!

Stampin' Up! Friends Are Like Seashells book fold

For this card I began with Night of Navy cut 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2 & 6 3/4. I adhered the section to the card back between 5 1/2 & 6 3/4 to create the book fold, then decorated the front panels. See the image below for how it should look.

Stampin' Up! Book Fold w/ Friends Are like Seashells

First a layer of Balmy Blue then a layer of the By the Bay 6×6 DSP. I pulled out the Friends Are Like Seashells bundle for the sentiment and a coordinating shell. I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink on Basic White, punched it with the Lasting Labels Punch, then used a Coastal Cabana Marker to decorate the edge. For even more sea-likeness, I added the Faux Sea Glass Shapes. Aren’t they fun? I stamped the sea shell in Sahara Sand ink on another Basic White piece & die cut it with the Seaside Seashells Dies. I added the decorated label to the card front with dimensionals, then the seashell right beside it, also on dimensionals. Really & truly, the DSP does all the work on this card.

Stampin' Up! Friends Are Like Seashells inside

For the inside I kept it really simple… a strip of the DSP on the Basic White panel and that was it. Since the inside panel is only 4 x 4, there is not a lot of room, and with a sentiment as is on the front, a personal note is usually needed.

Stampin' Up! Friendas Are Like Seashells card & envelope

For the envelope, more of the By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP on the flap and then some fun seashells from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set on the front: inks used were Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy & Balmy Blue, bringing out like colors of the DSP on the card front.

These are all retiring products: the By the Bay Specialty DSP, Friends Are Like Seashells bundle and the Fancy Label Punch and will go away as of May 1. As with all things retiring, there is a retiring list for both the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog AND the Jan-Apr 2023 Mini Catalog. These items are available while supplies last… and the sale beings 4 April through 1 May.

Stampin’ Up! By the Bay Book Fold Card

Good morning folks! It’s Saturday… and I have a masculine card for you using the By the Bay Designer Series Paper. This is for a gentleman who just had a hip replacement and is struggling with being able to do things. Thankfully he just began rehab, but he’s a bit ‘under the weather’ you might say. He’s a really big man and that’s part of the trouble… moving isn’t easy. So, a card for encouragement!

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Book fold

Isn’t this paper pretty? It’s also masculine and that helps me keep it simple. I really like how these papers coordinate and in corporate other shades of blue and bring in Sahara Sand and some sparkly as well. I used Wisteria Wishes stamp set for the sentiment and Night of Navy ink. To die cut, I used two dies from Something Fancy Dies (carrying over!) and die cut the larger in Night of Navy and the sentiment is Basic White. I wrapped Linen thread around each end of the Basic White piece (this fellow is a sailing friend and it fits), tied knots then added it to the Night of Navy piece with dimensionals. Then onto the card base with liquid glue. I added Sea Glass embellishments to tie in the colors of the DSP.

So… book fold how to:

  • Card base is 4 1/4 x 11 scored @ 5 1/2 and 6 3/4. Burnish the score lines
  • Add adhesive to the area between score lines and secure to the unscored section of the card. And there you have it, the book fold!

My card base is Balmy Blue – a carry over color. :O) The layers on the card are Night of Navy (carry over color) and the DSP. I’ll put the measurements at the bottom of the post. For the inside Idid not add the layer of Night of Navy, but did add a 5/8 strip of the By the Bay DSP to the Basic
White panel.

This inside leaves plenty of room for words of personal encouragement for this gentleman. For the envelope, I again kept it really simple… more By the Bay DSP on the envelope flap and that was it. This man does not want fussy.
