Good Tuesday morning and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Appreciate your loved ones, all of them. Send them a note or give them a call, whatever works for you. Today’s card plays along with the challenge for this week – a birthday card. And it’s a Diamond Flip card that’s fun to do, and did I say easy?

Gosh, the photo is a bit dark… but isn’t this a sweet card? Here’s a photo of it unfolded showing the outside.

And here’s one of it folded showing the inside. Notice the diamond on the left is ‘flipped’, or folded.

And one more photo… this one shows the front again, with the diamond fold to the inside. This way you clearly see how it’s all put together.

Directions:

Cut card base (here I used Granny Apple Green) 4 1/4 x 11 and score at 2 1/8 & 5 1/2
On the 2 1/8 end, mark the center point, on the short side which happens to be 2 1/8.
Fold card in half – on the 5 1/2 score line
Cut from the 2 1/8 score line to the point mark on a diagonal, going through both layers.
Now do the other cut from 2 1/8 score line to point. By cutting both ends at the same time, this makes the ends exactly the same!
Cut a 3″ square, also from Granny Apple Green, and adhere to the 2 1/8 end, adhering just to score line. This allows that end to be flexible.And this is the end to be decorated.
- Add a 2 7/8″ square, this time in a coordinating color or Basic White. I chose Textured Shimmer Paper in Balmy Blue
- Stamp the floral image from True Beauty stamp set in Blushing Bride ink, then die cut with coordinating die from Organic Beauty Dies.
- Stamp the leaves in Granny Apple Green ink using True Beauty stamp set. Die cut with coordinating die using Organic Beauty Dies
- Adhere the floral image with dimensionals to the now diamond. Slip the leaves under this a bit and adhere with liquid glue.
- Cut a banner 1/2 x 3 1/4 and stamp with sentiment from Sentimental Park stamp set, in Merry Merlot ink. Slip banner just under flower and adhere with liquid glue.
- Add bow ribbon with glue dot: Twill Ribbon Combo Pack in Old Olive
- Add Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins in Petal Pink (Jan-Apr Mini Catalog)
- Cover floral image with Wink of Stella
Add Balmy Blue panel 3 1/4 x 4 1/8 to card front
Add Awash In Beauty DSP over Balmy Blue, 3 1/8 x 4 1/8

For the inside

Add a 3 1/8 x 4 panel of the Awash in Beauty DSP to the panel on left
Stamp the sentiment using Sentimental Park stamp set and Merry Merlot ink on the Basic White panel (3 1/8 x 4)
Stamp the flower in Blushing Bride ink using the True Beauty stamp set, cover in Wink of Stella then add more Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins in Petal Pink
Cut a 2 7/8 square from Awash in Beauty DSP, cut in half creating two triangles. Adhere to each inside end

This card fits perfectly in a regular size envelope and I forgot to take a photo! However… here’s what I did… Cut another piece of Awash in Beauty DSP 2 1/4 x 6, add to envelope flap & trim to fit. Stamp a floral image from True Beauty stamp set in Blushing Bride, adding a bit of Merry Merlot to the center with your finger or a sponge dauber, then stamp on front of envelope. Cover with Wink of Stella.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday Cards & My Special

WooHoo, it’s February 13 – do you know what that means? Of course not… but, it’s my birthday today 😀 Yep – right next to Valentines Day… but my friends & family don’t forget. I’ve received some really lovely cards from fellow stampers & I’m going to share several of them with you today.

These two cards I did not intentionally pair together, but interestingly they both use the Season of Chic bundle along with the Texture Chic Specialty DSP. Aren’t they fun?!

The card on the left uses the Country Bouquet bundle and Country Floral Lane DSP from the Jan-April Mini Catalog. The card on the right is lovely and I totally forget what stamp set that is – I’m thinking it is a retired set.

And just one more card today… and a picture of me with some beautiful tulips in front of our fireplace.I didn’t keep the tulips there long as the heat would have made them open even more!

Stampin’ Up! Flap Front Fun Fold Birthday

I am smitten with the Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper and have made a fun birthday card with it. This is so super easy you will want to make one too.

This little fox is just so stinkin’ C-U-T-E! Look at that grin & that sassy walk. That little guy is die cut straight from the Rain or Shine DSP and die with the Layering Circles Dies. It’s back layer is Mango Melody die cut with the Layering Circles Dies, scallop. Ok, directions.

Card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 scored at 4 1/4 and I used Balmy Blue
- Remove 1″ from card base front & trim that strip to 3 1/2″, then score one end at 1″
- Attach the short end of this strip to the card back with the score line at the edge – long end to the right
Add a 1 1/4 x 5 3/8 strip of DSP over top of strip – see the raindrop strip in photo, that’s it.

Attach the circle die cut to the long end of the strip. I wanted a nice ‘finish’ to the back side so die cut another circle with the Layering Circles Dies from Brights 6×6 DSP in Mango Melody & adhered it to the back side.
A panel of Basic White 2 3/4 x 5 3/8 is stamped with the birthday sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set in Memento ink. Adhere to inside of card.
Back to card front… Add a panel of Rain or Shine DSP to the card front – 3 1/8 x 5 3/8
Stamp a sentiment in Memento ink on a Basic White Scrap & die cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
Add a Mango Melody strip behind it 5/8 x 2 1/4. This could be a length of ribbon instead, or a pice cut slightly larger than the sentiment panel. Add with dimensionals to the card front
I added three Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots in Mango Melody for a bit of bling.

Super easy card – and you could easily change it up… front flap embellished could be a square, a rectangle, a heart. All kinds of possibilities!

For the envelope… more of the Brights 6×6 DSP for the flap, trimmed to fit and another die cut from the Rain or Shine DSP, this time die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. A super fun card to send & receive!

Stampin’ UP! Best Day Book Fold

Good Monday morning! It is Martin Luther King day. Are you working today, or is your place closed? Schools are closed here, but I do know teachers in some private schools are open. At any rate, whatever you do, may you make it a good day. My card today is made with a new stamp set from the Jan-Apr 2023 Mini Catalog – called Best Day. It is so cute and I had a really playful time with color.

I focused on using several shades of blue and am really happy with the results. And the Granny Apple Green really makes everything pop. I started by stamping the image on a Basic White piece with Memento ink then got busy coloring with Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight Granny Apple Green, Tahitian Tide and Pale Papaya. I even stamped the little whirlies in three of those colors. I die cut this with the largest square of the Stylish Shapes Dies. I wanted this piece on dimensionals so did that. Then came the playful layers: Textured Shimmer Paper in Balmy Blue (this is a new paper and it’s wonderful!) layered to Pacific Point. Then I pulled out the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP in Tahitian Tide and layered that on another panel of Pacific Point. My card base is Granny Apple Green and is made into a book fold: 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 and again @ 4 1/2. Fold the card in half then adhere the section together between the 4 1/2 & 5 1/2 score lines ~ and the book fold is created. Now decorate by putting the layers together. What’s on dimensionals… the kitty cat of course, then also the Textured Shimmer Paper layered on the Pacific Point, that’s also on dimensionals. The final touch was Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

For the inside, again I kept that playful, colorful theme going. I stamped the image from Best Day stamp set in Memento ink then colored with Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Tahitian Tide and Pale Papaya. And while you can’t really tell in the photo, the cake is covered in Wink of Stella.

For the envelope… more of the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP in Tahitian Tide on the flap then I stamped the sparkles from Best Day stamp set in Tahitian Tide ink, Pale Papaya ink and Granny Apple Green ink. This card can so easily be for a child or a playful adult ~ I love it!

Stampin’ Up Wisteria Wishes Birthday

So here I am with a different kind of card for you… I’m working with the Wisteria Wishes stamp set and coordinating Wisteria Dies. I’ve also included some stampin and a bit of the 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper. The color I’m using is Orchid Oasis, cuz, wisteria is often purple, right? And glimmer paper is well, just sparkly & fun. I’ve also done some stamping. Let’s take a look.

The card base is Thick Basic White. The next layer is the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Glimmer Paper in Orchid Oasis. The next layer is Basic White that I ran through the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. Doesn’t it remind you of a brick wall? It does to me! Then I did some stamping and die cutting.

Stamping: In the background I hope you see the wisteria from Wisteria Wishes stamp set, in a different shade than the glimmer paper~ that’s a two-step stamp: first the background stamped in Highland Heather ink, then the detail stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink, then die cut with the Wisteria Dies. I also stamped the wisteria leaves/branch from Wisteria Wishes stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink and used a sponge dauber to add some depth with Old Olive ink. I did some additional die cutting with the Wisteria Dies: leaves/branch from Pear Pizzazz card stock & three more wisteria, this time from the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Glimmer Paper in Orchid Oasis. Because the Glimmer paper is graduated in shade, it provides a really nice variance/ difference in each of those particular die cuts. The leaves/ branch die cuts are adhered with liquid glue; the stamped wisteria are adhered with dimensionals; the glimmer paper wisteria are added with liquid glue. I love how many of the leaves are loose to create depth ands the glimmer paper wisteria are free-flowing at the ends – also to create depth. The sentiment banner is stamped in Highland Heather ink on a Basic White strip using the Happiness Abounds stamp set. I trimmed the end into a ‘banner tip’ then added it to the card front with dimenstionals. Final step… the three 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots in Orchid Oasis.

For the inside, I chose another branch die cut from the Wisteria Dies and Pear Pizzazz card stock, slightly trimmed, to adhere around the stamped Highland Heather ink sentiment from Happiness Abounds stamp set. At the bottom is a scrap of the leftover 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper in Orchid Oasis.

For the envelope… a 2 1/4 x 6 strip of the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP for the envelope flap, trimmed to fit. The sentiment is from Happiness Abounds and stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink. I made a bit of a ‘bluber’ (mistake) when I stamped, so used the Gorgeous Grape Marker to create this fun design around it to look like a postage stamp 🥴 And it’s ready for mailing! Stampin’ Up! Fabulous Frames & By the Bay Specialty 6×6 DSP

Good Monday Morning! Oh my goodness… family was here for a couple of days and it was so so incredibly good! Lots of work keeping up with all the dirty dishes and constantly making food, but so worth it. Grateful, thankful, feeling very blessed.

Today’s card uses more of the Fabulous Frames Dies & By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP – and in a more feminine birthday card. The colors are so perfect for this young person.

The sentiment used the Let’s Celebrate embossing folder again, and this time I not only cut it down, but cut it apart :O) I die cut two frames using the Fabulous Frames Dies, one in Basic White and another in Pool Party, which is a coordinating color to the paper. I wanted the outside frame in the Basic White and the inner portion in Pool Party – now I have extra to play with another day . The card has a layer of the By the Bay Specialty 6×6 DSP on the Night of Navy card base, then the Fabulous Frame Die cut was adhered with liquid glue. The Pool Party panel is on dimensionals; the Happy Birthday is adhered with liquid glue, and the Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems were added ~ and the card front is really complete.

For the inside, a b it of a strip of the By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP along the edge of the Basic White panel, which was then adhered to the inside of the Night of Navy card base. I left the inside blank ‘cuz I have lots of things to say to her. ❤️

For the envelope, there was a short panel of the By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP remaining, so I used it on the front of the envelope. I took another piece of Pool Party card stock and embossed it with the Let’s Celebrate embossing folder and adhered that to the flap. Durn – forgot to take a photo!

At any rate – this By the BaySpecialty DSP is stunning and gorgeous and has a beachy feel to it – so versatile. It will be available in the Jan-Apr 2023 Annual Catalog.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday with By the Bay Specialty DSP

Hello – ’tis Sat and our families are here to celebrate Thanksgiving. We share with in-laws :O)and they come here after. It works. Today’s card is a shaker card for a special birthday young man. I’ve used a couple of new items: two new to me & one new in the Jan-Apr 2023 Mini Catalog: the Let’s Celebrate Embossing Folder and the Fabulous Frames Dies are both new items for me. The By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP is also new to Jan-April 2023 Mini Catalog and is gorgeous!

Stampin' Up! By the Bay 6x6 Sp DSP Shaker card

This DSP looks so ‘beachy’ to me so I’ve used Sahara Sand card stock to create the frame using the Fabulous Frames Dies. And the Let’s Celebrate Embossing Folder was used for just this sentiment. I cut it way down just for this. I should have taken more pictures 😖… Anyhoo… the By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP was adhered to a Sahara Sand card base so it encompassed the full front of the card. To secure the window sheet to the inside of the frame, I used Tear n’ Tape all around the frame, then put the window sheet in place, then the Foam Adhesive strips were adhered to that. I attached the ‘frame’ to the card front just at the bottom, then sprinkled in a few Effervescent Elements and secured the rest of the frame in place. The sentiment was adhered just to the frame. Very masculine, don’t you think?

I kept the inside really simple ‘cuz I have some special things I want to write. 😏 I adhered a strip of the very same By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP along the left side to a Basic White panel – and called it done. I kept the envelope simple as well – another strip of the same By the Bay 6×6 Specialty DSP, just wider, to the left edge of the envelope. I really do like the masculinity of this card.

Stampin’ Up! Fitting Florets Collection, Birthday Fun Fold

It’s Friday and I’m off to a Stampin’ Up! Convention ~ headed to Jacksonville, FL. Yes, it should be raining but it may clear by mid day 😀 I’m taking a rain coat… Today’s card uses many of the items in the Fitting Florets Collection: Framed Florets and the coordinating Framed Florets Dies (notice how Stampin’ Up! ‘heard’ our pleas to use same titles for coordinating dies!), the Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls and the absolutely lovely Fitting Florets DSP. And ~ this is a fun fold.

This Fitting Florets DSP is simply gorgeous! And I especially love this particular pattern. I hated covering it with the beautiful Framed Florets Dies, but alas, it was necessary. I wanted to show off these beautiful framing dies. After die cutting in Basic White, this becomes two pieces – the center oval and the outside elaborate frame. I stamped the center oval with a sentiment from the Framed Florets in Evening Evergreen ink; adhered the outside frame to the DSP, centering it. I put dimensionals on the center oval and added it to the framed outline. I added the very pretty (and flat) Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls to highlight the sentiment. I debated and debated about adding more of the die cuts available, but I really liked the simplicity of this. The DSP was adhered to Balmy Blue card stock then to the Night of Navy A2 card front.

For the inside, I took another piece of the Fitting Florets DSP and adhered it to the left side. I stamped the small leaf image and the berry ‘spray’ in Evening Evergreen ink and colored with Soft Succulent Blends for the leaves and Balmy Blue Blends for the ‘berries’. I also stamped the sentiment from the Fitting Florets stamp set in Evening Evergreen ink.

Next I created the ‘fun fold’ portion – and here’s how… cut a panel of Night of Navy card stock 4 3/4 x 8 and score at 2, 4, and 6.
Burnish well. Mark 2″ from the bottom on the right side. Trim from the top left corner to the 2″ mark on the right corner. Adhere panels from the Fitting Florets DSP cut at 1 7/8″. To get the correct angle on the DSP, prior to adhering…cut the panels 1 7/8 x 4 3/4 then lay down on table with the Night of Navy piece on top of it. With a ruler, mark the angle on the DSP. Trim 1/8″ off each bottom strip. Lay on top of card stock to see if any more trimming needs to be done, then adhere in place. This is called an Accordion Fun Fold.

Add far left panel to left side of inside of card, centering. I wanted my fun fold section to line up on the bottom with the DSP & Basic White panels. Adhere right section of the fold to the right inside panel. Here’s what it should look like looking down from the top.

Now decorate the rest of the inside to your desire. Here’s what I did… stamp the two smaller flowers on a Basic White scrap in Evening Evergreen ink using the Framed Florets stamp set. Color both with Stamp’ Blends in Soft Succulent; die cut with Framed Florets Dies. Die cut a small leaf from Gold Foil Sheets (I used a scrap. Adhere each with liquid glue as shown.

For the envelope… more of the same Fitting Florets DSP adhered to the envelope flap & trimmed to fit. I then stamped the larger of the two small flowers in Evening Evergreen ink and this time colored them with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. It matches the flowers in the DSP! I then stamped the leaves in Evening Evergrren ink and colored with Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends. They too, match the DSP 😊

Stampin’ Up! Birthday Fun Fold w/ Framed Florets Bundle

Good Saturday morning.I’ve created a fun fold birthday card for you today using the new Framed Florets Bundle. The card cuts will be listed as I go along and then again at the bottom of this post so you too, can create this fun fold.

Isn’t this paper (DSP) just beautiful? I guess it’s a bit tricky to see much of it here :0] You’ll have to take my word for it – unless of course you decide you want to get it now… in which case, keep reading and I’ll tell you how you can. For now, a couple more photos to see this card and how it stands to really it off.

The photo to the left shows more of this particular DSP (Fitting Florets 12 x 12 DSP) and the above photo shows how this stands to show off the fun fold.

This is a two part card: the card base and the fun fold adhered together. The card base is Night of Navy 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and has a single strip of Fitting Florets DSP adhered to either side (3/4 x 5 1/4). The fun fold portion is also Night of Navy 8 x 5 1/2 scored on the long side at 1 1/2, 2 3/4, 5 1/4 and 6 1/2. Burnish the folds: mountain, valley, valley, mountain. Add Fitting Florets DSP to each valley fold and the far right mountain fold in this order: 1 x 5 1/4, 1 x 5 1/4 and finally 1 1/4 x 5 1/4. See photo as a guide. The center message panel is Basic White 2 1/4 x 5 1/4.

The front panel is Night of Navy 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 and is adhered to the far left section of the fun fold, but centered when the card is closed – see 1st photo! Adhered to that is Balmy Blue 3 1/4 x 5 1/4. Adhered to that is the Basic White decorated panel. Stamp & decorate prior to adhering it!

To decorate this panel: Stamp the sentiment from Framed Florets stamp set in Night of Navy ink at the upper portion of the Basic White front panel; Stamp the leaf spray , also from Framed Florets stamp set, in Memento Black ink and color with Light Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends. Stamp the floral bouquet from Framed Florets stamp set on a separate panel of Basic White, color with Stampin’ Blends: Polished Pink (both Light & Dark Blends), Soft Succulent (both Light & Dark), & Petal Pink; die cut with Framed Florets Dies. Add dimensionals to back and adhere to panel front. Create this beautiful bow with Silver-Threaded Twine that has been separated. Adhere bow with a glue dot. Add three Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls. Now add this completed panel to the front and your fun fold is done. :O) Because I was playing with the stamp set and it’s coordinating dies, I stamped the very cute berry spray from Framed Florets stamp set and colored with Polished Pink Blends then added it to the inner Basic White panel with liquid glue.

For the envelope I added more of the same pattern from the Fitting Florets DSP pack to the flap, trimmed to fit. I then then stamped this sweet flower from the Framed Florets stamp set in Memento Black ink on the envelope front & colored it with Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends. Just as a reminder, when using Stampin’ Blends on an envelope, slip a heavy card stock in the envelope so the alcohol ink color does not go through to the other side of the envelope :O)

Night of Navy: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (card base); 8 x 5 1/2 scored at 1 1/2, 2 3/4, 5 1/4,& 6 1/2 (fun folded section); 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 (card front)

Balmy Blue: 3 1/4 x 5 1/4

Basic White: 3 x 5 (front); 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 (message panel on inside)

DSP: 3/4 x 5 1/4 (for card base, cut 2); 1 x 5 1/4 (cut 2) & 1 1/4 x 5 1/4 (for fun fold sections)

Hello again. Guess what? I have another fun fold for you :O) In card class Thursday we made two fun folds ~ the one I posted yesterday with the Caroling Mice – a swing fold; and the other is the one I’m sharing with you today, made with Happier Than Happy stamp set. This could be masculine or a child’s card because of the colors & DSP. It could also be a woman’s card – it has flexibility.

See what I mean that this could be a child’s card? And these colors too are bright & cheery and wonderful together. Calypso Coral is the card stock base and Sahara Sand is the contrasting color. The DSP is from the Happier Than Happy 12 x 12 DSP pack. So – how to make this card…

Calypso Coral pieces: 5 1/2 x 11, scored on long side @ 4, 5 3/4, 7 1/2, 9 1/4; 5 x 2 1/2 scored at 2 1/2; 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 (inside panel)
Sahara Sand pieces: 2 1/4 x 2 14, 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 – emboss all of these with the Timber 3D embossing folder
Basic White: 2 x 2 (sentiment panel for inside) + additional pieces for stamped items
DSP – Happier Than Happy 12 x 12: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, cut 2

Begin by adhering pieces to panels 1,3 & 5: that’s DSP, Sahara Sand & Sahara Sand.

Adhere the square Sahara Sand piece to the left area on the scored 5 x 2 1/2 strip. Now adhere this strip to the front panel… with the card closed, place the left Sahara Sand portion on the front so it is equidistant from the left edge of the card & the right side of the card as well. Now, with the card folded accordian-style, adhere the right part of the 5 x 2 1/2 strip to panel 4. Adhere the additional DSP piece over top. Time to do some stamping/ decorating… stamp the front sentiment in Calypso Coral ink on Basic White using the Charming Sentiments stamp set; die cut with the coordinating Sentiment Silhouette Dies. Adhere to the front with mini dimensionals. Stamp the owl, stump and fox from Happier Than Happy stamp set on another Basic White scrap in Sahara Sand ink and die cut with the Happy Forest Friends Dies. Adhere in place as shown in photo. Stamp the inside sentiment (WOOHOO) from Charming Sentiments stamp set on the remaining Basic White 2 x 2 square in Sahara Sand ink and adhere to the inside. For the final touch, add the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots. Turn card over & adhere a panel 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 in Basic White on the back for writing a sweet note. DONE!

Last but not least is the envelope… more of the same Happy Forest Friends DSP on the flap, adhered & trimmed to fit. For the front, stamp the cute owl from Happier Than Happy stamp set in Sahara Sand – and it’s all read for someones special birthday :O)
