Stampin’ Up! Friend Card with Wildly Flowering DSP

Good Monday! It’s turned cold again after a very beautiful day of 81 degrees – ah, that’s Spring. That 81 degrees made the hostas pop up, helebores are in full bloom (they love the cool!), daffodils & crocus are blooming as well. I really enjoy this time of year.

My card today is for a friend who isn’t feeling all that great, I’ve combined the Friends For Life Dies and the Wanted To Say Dies to create my messages – and the last of my Wildly Flowering 12×12 DSP.

Stampin' Up! Wildly Flowering Friend card front

To make this card I began with my card base: Moody Mauve cut 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4. I layered a panel of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 that I ran through a brand new Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, a new favorite. This piece was adhered directly to the card base. Next I cut a piece of the Wildly Flowering DSP 4 x 3, that coordinates with the strips of another piece of the Wildly Flowering DSP. This was cut 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, then into strips 1/2, 3/4, 1 & 1 1/4. I spaced then evenly along the 4 x 3 panel & adhered with Stampin’ Seal. I took a scrap of the Wildly Flowering DSP 4 x 2 1/2 & die cut the background for the word ‘friend’ from the Friends For Life Dies. Next I took a piece of Basic White 4 x 2 5/8 and covered the back with Adhesive Sheets. I then die cut the word ‘friend’ from that, removed the backing of the Adhesive Sheet and attached it to the DSP background die cut. I put this on dimensionals and adhered it over the DSP strips, added dimensionals to the 4 x 3 DSP panel and attached to the card front. As a final touch, I added five (5) Adhesive-Backed Textural Dots and the card front was complete.

Stampin' Up! Wildly Flowering Friend card inside

For the inside, I took another piece of the Wildly Flowering DSP in Moody Mauve, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2, attached aAdhesive Sheet to that & die cut the sentiment from the Wanted To Say Dies. I attached this to the center of a Basic White piece 4 x 5 1/4. I then used a Blending Brush & Moody Masuve ink to add some color to the edges of this Basic White panel, then attached it to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Wildly Flowering Friend Card & envelope

For the envelope, more Wildly Flowering DSP, 2 1/4 x 6, attached to the flap & trimmed to fit. A simple flower from the Wildflower Designs stamp set was stamped in Moody Mauve ink on the envelope front. Done, ready to send in hopes my friend will ‘feel better soon’!

Stampin’ Up! Window Flip Fun Fold

Hello Friday! Today’s card is a fun fold using the Everyday Arches Dies, the Everyday Skies 6×6 DSP and more. It begins with a full sheet of card stock scored at 4 1/4 on the short side, turn and score at 5 1/2 on the long side. Depending how you want the card to fold will determine which quadrant to remove. For this card, it is in portrait style and I removed the upper left quadrant along the score lines. Burnish all score lines. I trimmed an additional 1/16″ off the inside upper quadrant so it would fold nicely.

Stampin' Up! Window Flip Fun Fold, open

In the first photo you see the card closed and the image of the plane that peeks through the ‘window’. In the second photo, it shows the card fully open, with the upper left quadrant removed. :O)

Directions:

  • Adhere a 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 panel of DSP to the card front, inking only along the edges
  • Using the Everyday Arches Dies, 3rd from largest, center die on the front panel and die cut, creating this wonderful window.
  • Remove the DSP from the card stock die cut piece. This is a bit tricky as the holes in the die cut tend to hold the pieces together. Be careful not to tear either the DSP or the card stock.
  • Adhere the DSP to the inside of the upper inside panel of the card as shown in photo 2. I stamped mine using the Adventurous Sky stamp set for the sentiment and the Everyday Arches stamp set for the airplane and Night of Navy ink.
  • With the upper flip flap closed, adhere another piece of the Everyday Skies DSP, 4 x 5 1/4, to the flip panel, closed – photo 3.
  • With that die cut card stock window that you saved, die cut it again, this time using the 5th from largest die in the Everyday Arches Dies, making it a smaller arch.
  • Close the card front and add arch to the ‘star’ covered panel, centering with the card front arch.
  • With Basic White card stock and the 7th from largest die in the Everyday Arches Dies, die cut a white arch.
    • Stamp this piece using the Adventurous Sky stamp set and Balmy blue ink for the clouds.
    • Stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy ink and the coordinating Everyday Arches stamp set. Adhere to the Balmy Blue panel, centering it.
  • Stamp the airplane in Smoky Slate ink on a scrap of Basic White, using the Adventurous Sky stamp set.
    • Add color to the plane with Stampin’ Blends Balmy Blue
    • Die cut propellers from Basic White scrap using the Adventurous Sky Dies. Add with dab of liquid glue.
    • Add plane to this panel with dimensionals.
  • The last panel – the sentiment panel… stamp the clouds from the Adventurous Sky stamp set in Balmy Blue ink. I did this twice overlapping just a tiny bit.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink – also from Adventurous Sky stamp set.
Stampin' Up! Window Flip Fun Fold card & envelope
  • Envelope…
    • Add another piece of the Everyday Skies DSP to the flap, trim.
    • Stamp the clouds on the lower portion of the envelope front with Balmy Blue ink and the Adventurous Sky stamp set.
    • Stamp the airplane from Everyday Arches stamp set in Night of Navy ink.

This is just a great masculine card! And a fun fold to boot just makes it all the more fun.

Stampin ‘ Up! Front flap Thinking of You Fun Fold

Hi folks! Today is – GAME DAY… are you for the red (Kansas City Chiefs) or green for the Eagles? Because of where I live, the Eagles are the players of choice. :O)

On Thursday evening I learned a friend of mine is on hospice care and it really threw me for a loop. I was shocked and dismayed – and heartbroken. This card is for her…

I combined a couple of Stampin’ Up! items… Winter Meadow DSP and the free during Sale-a-Bration bundle called Heart Shaped. It’s delicate, it’s beautiful and perfect for so many occasions.. Here I used I a heart stamped from paper I created with Blending brushes and several colors. I’ll link to the post here that will give all the info about how to do that. The two small flowers were die cut from that same paper with dies from Heart Shaped Dies.

I began with a Thick Basic White card stock 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 scored on the long side at 4 1/4. Cut layer pieces (here it was Misty Moonlight cs) 3 1/8 x 5 3/8 for the front and 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 for the inside. DSP panels should be 3 x 5 1/4 and 1 x 5 1/4. Adhere the larger DSP panel to the larger card stock piece then secure to the card front. The 1″ strip should be added to a Basic White piece 4 x 5 1/4 for the inside of the card. Cut another piece of Basic White 1 x 3 and score at 1/2″ on one end. This will become the tab for the front ‘flap’. Add this tab to the back of the card stock layer for the inside of the card, centering it top to bottom. Now add this card stock to the inside of the card. It will look like the photo below.

Stampin' Up! Fun fold tab

Add the 1″ DSP strip to the right edge of the Basic White layer, then stamp the sentiment.. Here the sentiment is from Everyday Greetings stamp set and stamped in Misty Moonlight ink I also added the stamped heart, twice – once in Pretty in Pink and the second in Moody Mauve stamped off once. Adhere this to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Front Flap card inside

Now close the card and center the square that attaches to the flap. The layers are Basic White 2 3/4 x 2 3/4, Winter Meadow DSP cut 2 5/8 x 2 5/8. The die c ut heart is attached with tiny dabs of liquid glue. The flowers are attached with a mini dimensional for one and liquid glue for the other. The sentiment is again from Everyday Greetings and stamped in Misty Moonlight ink. It was die cut with a banner die from the Heart Shaped dies, then one end trimmed. This was attached with mini dimensionals.

Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the envelope – ugh! – but I did attach more of the Winter Meadow DSP to the flap, trimmed to fit, then stamped the grouping of flowers in Pretty In Pink ink on the envelope front.

I made three more cards using this same ‘pattern’ but chose different DSP for those and different card stock bases as well.I’ll share those photos below.
