Stampin’ Up! Holly Berry Dies and More

Good Sunday morning! I have another Christmas card for you, and here it is mid August. :O) I’m just getting around to playing with the Holly Berry Dies ~ and yes, they coordinate with Leaves of Holly stamp set and you save 10% when purchasing together. It is a fabulous set. Let’s take a look …

Look at those gorgeous holly leaves. Such detail! And these are large leaves too. Ok, so here’s what I did… I covered the front of the card base (Basic White Thick) with Boughs of Holly DSP. I took another panel of Boughs of Holly DSP and backed it with a piece of Basic White, same size. I cut a Wonderful Snowflakes in half and played with placement as it was ton go behind the layer just cut. Once in place, I added the smaller layer on dimensionals. I did a bit of die cutting: Soft Suede for the detail of the holly and Shaded Spruce for behind it. I die cut another holly detail die in Basic White. I also die cut the two layers for the berries, using some scrap of the Boughs of Holly DSP that I covered the front of the card base. I loosely adhered one of the holly layers together, the other I adhered totally. And the berry dies I adhered together as well. I used a card on page 24 of the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog for my inspiration. After determining placement, I began adhering leaves & berries in place. I the cut a 1/2″ Natural Woven ribbon in half lengthwise, colored one side with a Stampin’ Blends with Light Crumb Cake, tied a bow and adhered it in place with a glue dot. The last part of the card front was the sentiment banner. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink on a Basic White piece then die cut it with a banner die from the Holly Berry Dies. I adhered this with dimensionals and called the card front done.

For the inside, I cut a panel of Boughs of Holly for my background and adhered it in place. On a basic White panel, I stamped the holly leaves in Shaded Spruce, second generation for the darker leaf, then continued third generation for the other two leaves. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink still using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. I adhered this panel in place and the card was done.

As you can see, more of the red Boughs of Holly DSP for the envelope flap. For the front, more holly leaves in Shaded Spruce using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. When stamping second and third generation, it’s best to re-ink between stamping, stamp off on a scrap then onto your main piece. Love this bundle of stamps & dies! You’ll see more of this I’m sure. 😁

Stampin’ Up! Leaves of Holly

Good morning Saturday. WOW – big temperature drop. It’s actually cool here. Tuesday it was 104; today we waken to 60! Big, big difference. Perhaps I can actually do some work outside today :O) My card… speaks of Christmas. It mostly uses Boughs of Holly Designer Series Paper and a bit of stamping using the Leaves of Holly stamp set. My card tomorrow shows off that stamp & die bundle.

Cards look so different in a photo… I started with a card base of Soft Succulent, then a layer of Evening Evergreen and Basic White – all adhered together. The next layer is all on dimensionals.

top left: Soft Succulent layered with Boughs of Holly DSO then a Textured Element adhered directly. I used the Pearlized Enamel Effects on each of the tips of this element for a bit of added sparkle.
top right: Soft Succulent base, clean with Embossing buddy to remove any static, stamp the two sentiments from Leaves of Holly stamp set in VersaMark, sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat set with the SU! Heat Tool. Once this has cooled, stamp the holly leaf in second generation Soft Succulent ink. Dot with Pearlized Enamel Effects.

Spacing is especially important in this kind of project so lay them out before attaching! The most difficult part for me on a project like this, is determining the sizes of the front layer. Once I do that, the rest is easy!!

This holly leaf from the Leaves of Holly stamp set are just beautiful! I stamped them in second generation Soft Succulent ink then stamped the sentiment (yep, Leaves of Holly stamp set) in full strength Soft Succulent on a Basic White piece. This I adhered to Evening Evergreen then attached it to the inside of the card.

More of the same pattern of Boughs of Holly DSP on the envelope flap, then second generation Soft Succulent ink stamped holly leaf from Leaves of Holly stamp set. Love the colors in this. Stampin' Up! Trees for Sale w/ coordinating Tree Lot Dies

The challenge is shown on. the right… I’ve taken some liberties with the sketch, but I think my card follows it… I used the Double Oval Punch to create the oval that I embossed. The card is just busy, so the eye moves a lot. But I think it still works.

I used the Boughs of Holly DSP adhered to a Soft Succulent panel just slightly larger. That got dimensionals and was added to the Thick Basic White card base. Still using Thick Basic White, I die cut two trees (both the outline and detail + an additional tree detail) using the Tree Lot Dies (they are FREE w/ a qualified order during Sale-a-bration… hint hint) I die cut another tree outline from Soft Succulent card stock then put the trees together with tiny dabs of liquid glue. I then punched an oval from Thick Basic White using the Double Oval Punch. I ran that through the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder. I stamped the ‘Trees for Sale’ sign with Mossy Meadow ink on another scrap of Thick Basic White (Trees for Sale stamp set!) and die cut it with the Tree Lot Dies. I adhered this at an angle to the oval with dabs of liquid glue. I punched an ‘edge’ at each side of the card and added White Baker’s Twine from the Twine essentials Pack. I secured it in back with Seal+. I put dimensionals on the two white trees, liquid glue on the Soft Succulent tree and added them to the card. The oval also got dimensionals and was added over the twine.

I used the same Boughs of Holly DSP as the front of the card – just the other side of it… to die cut the trailer. I also die cut a wreath in Basic White, a bow in Real Red and adhered those to the trailer. I added a piece of window sheet to indicate a window for the trailer door & eating space, and adhered that with glue dots. Once I knew where I wanted the trailer on the Basic White panel, I stamped the cute dog in Crumb Cake ink, then adhered the trailer over it with liquid glue. It looks as though the dog is barking for his ‘peeps’. I adhered the panel to the inside of the card – and that was it.

For the envelope I kept it real simple… using the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the flap. And that’s it. So let me just say, using the Tree Lot Dies is so much fun … creating a fun picture with die cuts. :O)

Stampin’ Up! Trees For Sale Christmas Fun Fold

Hello folks! We had a break in temps… down 20 degrees from yesterday – now 77. Whew – so relieved. Today’s card is a fun fold and I don’t know what to call it ~ maybe you can recommend a ‘name’ for it :O)

What do you think? Do you like a mostly white card with just a bit of color? I have to say, I do. I find it rather elegant. Card base is Thick Basic White: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, covered with the Gold & Silver Sale-a-bration DSP, silver stripe
Cut a Thick Basic White: 5 1/2 x 7 12, score on long side @ 1 5/8, 2 1/2, 4 3/4, 5 7/8
Cut panels of the Gold & Silver DSP, silver dots: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 (cut 2), 7/8 x 5 1/4 (cut 2) adhere to appropriate folded panels
Cut Basic White: 2 1/8 x 5 1/4 for middle panel
Die cut with Tree Lot Dies & Thick Basic White card stock at least 5 trees. Note there are 2 small and 3 larger trees, including the intricate dies that coordinate. Adhere as shown with liquid glue for larger trees and dimensionals on the small ones. Of course, the tree intricate dies are added with liquid glue to the trees first!

Now let’s create the center panel…
- Stamp the dog on Thick Basic White with Gray Granite ink. Die cut with the Tree Lot Dies.
- Die cut a bow with Real Red card stock and add to dog with a dab of liquid glue. Add to the thin panel with liquid glue
- Stamp the ‘sign’ in Garden Green ink
- Stamp the dog prints in Memento Black ink

Add panel to the fun fold center with liquid glue.
Stamp the sentiment from the Trees For Sale stamp set on the Basic White strip in VersaMark ink, sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder, heat set with the Heat Tool. Add to the left portion of the folded panel – glue only the left side so that the strip is evenly on the folded flat front.
Add three Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the sentiment panel
Add the folded panel to the DSP covered card base, centering it in place

This is what the card looks like viewed from the top ~ see how the folded piece is centered?

For the envelope, more of the Gold & Silver 6×6 DSP FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 purchase. It is adhered to the envelope flap and a strip added to the bottom of the envelope front. You can just barely see the stripe of the same DSP on the card ends in this photo – but it’s there!

Stampin’ Up! C’mas Banners Bundle for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy, happy Thursday! We have a fun creative challenge today for the hop and you may have come from Tara or just hopping in here. Either way this is what I’ve created for the hop.

I chose to really ‘stick with’ the sketch challenge today 😏 and had lots of fun doing it. The DSP for the background is Sweetest Christmas 12 x 12 DSP and I edged it with narrow strips of Pool Party. I built on that with lots of die cuts using Decorated Pine Dies for the large pine fronds, then Christmas Banners Dies for the rest of the die cuts. I wanted to use all the colors in the DSP. The sentiment banner is stamped with the Christmas Banners stamp set in Sweet Sorbet then die cut with the same dies. I added it to the card front with dimensionals under the far ends of the banner, then slipped all the other die cuts in under and held in place with liquid glue. The large pine fronds die cut in Garden Green served as the background – as mentioned using the Decorated Pine Dies. The lower pine fronds are from the Christmas Banner Dies. Next layer is the stamped in Pool Party ink leaves (and I did three) and die cut with the Christmas Banner Dies. I used Pear Pizzazz card stock to die cut the single layer of leaves – also from the Christmas Banner Dies. For the berry spray, the branches were die cut from Soft Suede card stock (again 3). The berries are stamped in Real Red ink and die cut with the C’mas Banners Dies then adhered with dabs of liquid glue to the variousSoft Suede branches. Lastly I added Adhesive Backed Seasonal Sequins: 3 in Garden Green above the banner and 2 in white below the banner.

For the inside of the card… I stamped a leaf bunch from the C’mas Banners stamp set in stamped off Pear Pizzazz ink, then over that with a pine spray from the same stamp set in Garden Green ink. I stamped the Merry in Real Red ink and the Christmas in Sweet Sorbet. Can you tell the difference? I like the contrast! This Basic White panel was adhered to Pool Party card stock then into the Thick Basic White card base ~ and the card was complete.

For the envelope, another bit of the same Sweetest Christmas 12 x 12 DSP on the flap and that was it. While this card has several die cuts, it is not heavy and I do not think will need extra postage – and that’s a PLUS!

Stampin’ Up! Perched In A Tree for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s that time of week for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. You may have come from the fun creation of Tara Carpenter or just hopped in right here. Whatever the case… welcome!

Our challenge is a color one: Black & White + color of choice. I chose Balmy Blue, which you can see in the background between the trees. Snow gets a fun tinge to it when it’s falling at dusk :O) The challenge is below.

Back to my card… I die cut the Basic White front panel with the Aspen Trees Dies. It coordinates with Perched In A Tree stamp set and comes as a bundle (which means 10% off!). Remember, this bundle is available Jul 1 – which is Friday – woohoo!!! OK, card… I keep getting distracted. I used a Blending Brush to shade the aspens and Basic Gray ink. I love the look it gave. I set that aside and took another panel of Basic White and stamped the ‘snowflakes’ in Balmy Blue. I stamped the sweet bird in Memento ink and colored it with Watercolor Pencils in Balmy Blue and Early Espresso. I used a Blender Pen to smooth the pencil lines. I die cut the bird with the Aspen Trees Dies and adhered it with liquid glue. I did move it around a bit before I found the right spot, cuz wanted him peeking out of the trees. The Aspen die cut got lots of dimensionals & was adhered to the snow-stamped panel. That was added to the Thick Basic White card base. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink – love, love the font! – and fussy cut it. I used Stasmpin’ Seal on the back and wrapped a length of the Simply Elegant Trim in Silver on the back, then added dimensionals and placed it on the front. Final touch – a bit of glam with three Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins in white.

For the inside… Using a Blending Brush I added Balmy Blue all around the edges of the Basic White panel, then stamped the sentiment from Perched In A Tree stamp set in Basic Gray ink. This was added to the inside of the card.

For the envelope, more Balmy Blue ‘snowflakes’ to the flap and the wonderful Aspen branch stamped in Basic Gray to the front. I really, really like this. And yes, I took some liberties and substituted Basic Gray for the Black for the challenge. :O) Now – it’s time to get on with the hop! Stampin’ Up! Christmas Banners

Hi everyone… I didn’t post yesterday, silly me. But I had a REALLY good read of the most recent National Geographic magazine AND worked outside. But… here’s a promised card done in Parakeet Party – one of the new In Colors. It may seem a bit bright, but I have to say, I really, really like it. :O)

The card base as you can see, is Parakeet Party with a die cut in the same color die cut with Candy Canes Dies and adhered to the card base with liquid glue. The next is a grouping created on the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP (Sweet Sorbet). Layers attached to the DSP are die cuts in Garden Green card stock, Lovely Layers Vellum, Soft Suede, and the berries are die cut from 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Glimmer Paper, Sweet Sorbet. The holly is stamped in both Garden Green ink & Parakeet Party ink on Basic White. The sentiment banner is stamped in Sweet Sorbet ink with the words in Garden Green ink. This was die cut with the Christmas Banner Dies and is on dimensionals. The fabulous die cut background is a die from the Candy Canes Dies, cut from Parakeet Party card stock and adhered with liquid glue to the same color card base. Isn’t that die wonderful? The Parakeet Party is a non-traditional color for Christmas, but I really like how it all ties together. Hubby is a conservative man and I wasn’t sure what he would think either, but he liked it a lot! The last touch for the card front was three Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins in white.

For the inside… the pine frond stamp from the Christmas Banners stamp set, first in Parakeet Party, then in Garden Green on the basic white panel.

As you can see, the envelope got the same treatment: pine frond from the C’mas Banners stamp set, stamped first in Parakeet Party ink, then in Garden Green ink. What do you think of the colors? It’s hard to tell the Sweet Sorbet is not Real Red! And I have to say, I like the contrasts of color.

Stampin’ Up! Sweet Candy Cane

Good morning! I’ve a fun Christmas card for you today. Why Christmas? Well, it takes me a bit to make all my cards for Christmas mailing AND because the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog goes l-i-v-e for customers to order on Jul 1. And who doesn’t need inspiration? Here ya go…

What’s more traditional than red & white & candy canes? The DSP is called Sweetest Christmas and it’s a wonderful mix of Real Red, Garden Green, Pool Party & Sweet Sorbet. These candy canes are stamped in Real Red ink on a Basic White panel & die cut with the Candy Canes Dies. With dimensionals on the back they are layered on a circle of Lovely Layers Vellum, die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies and heat embossed with this sentiment from the Sweet Candy Canes stamp set. How did I do that? Super easy…

With a Stamparatus, stamp the Vellum in Real Red ink.
Clean the stamp & ink again with VersaMark ink.
Sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.
Once cool, die cut the Vellum

The circle of Vellum also has dimensionals under the candy canes :O) and is adhered to the two layers of Sweetest Christmas 12×12 DSP. These two layers were added to a panel of Basic White run through the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folder. . The Basic White was adhered to Real Red card stock. A 3/8″ Garden Green ribbon from the Ribbon Combo Pack was wrapped around the card and adhered with a glue dot under the bow and all of it added to a Basic White Thick card base.

For the inside, the ‘greens’ were stamped in a circle with Garden Green ink. The is a distinctive stamp and I love the depth of color. I’m calling these mistletoe leaves :O) The sentiment from Sweet Candy canes stamp set is stamped in Real Red ink on Basic White and die cut with the second smallest circle of the Stylish Shapes Dies. This was added over the mistletoe leaves with liquid glue. The Basic White panel was adhered to a piece of Real Red slightly larger, then added to the inside of the card.

The envelope got more of the same Sweetest Christmas 12×12 DSP on the flap and a narrow strip added to the front of the envelope as well. And there you have it! It’s ready for mailing… in a few months :O)

Stampin’ Up! Decorated w/ Happiness #2

Good Saturday morning! It’s a goin’ to be a hot one today. I’ll need to get outdoor chores done ASAP, but I do want to share this card with you first. It’s yesterday’s card in different colors – monochromatic if you will, and I like it even better.

The card base is Smoky Slate, inks for pine boughs & sentiment are also Smoky Slate; Silver Foil for the bell, pine boughs and stars; Shaded Spruce for the small boughs & Cherry Cobbler for the ‘smoosh’ behind the bell; and Whisper White for the snowflakes. And – you can see the Jingle Bell Trinket – I love the added touch and it doesn’t bother me that it contrasts with the foil.

The inside I did just a bit differently from yesterdays card – by adding the pine bough. Inks are Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler & Shaded Spruce stamped on a Basic White panel.

The envelope is very similar to yesterday’s card – just using Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler. And here are the photos for yesterday’s card…
