Stampin’ Up! Lighter Than Air Suite Shaker Card

Hello folks! Here it is Wednesday already – where has the week gone? I apologize for being MIA… I’ve had trouble with a couple things and it’s been frustrating. Hopefully we’re back on track again. My card today is a shaker card made with the amazing Hot Air Balloon stamp set & coordinating dies and other products in this suite – but the stamp & dies are KEY! First of all, I love the Lighter Than Air 6×6 DSP – soft but colorful papers. Pool Party is soft, as is Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath – all colors in this particular DSP and ink I used on today’s card. Balmy Blue comes across a bit stronger but is still soft.

Don’t you love the stripes? Here’s what I’m not seeing though…, the stamped sentiment! Aargh! It just isn’t showing in the photo. Aargh again, because I pick up the card and it isn’t that visible there either. HOW DID I MISS THAT? Aaargh. Well, here we are. I’ll just have to die cut another piece and re-stamp it and adhere it over this one, maybe in Balmy Blue. Or maybe I need to re-ink my ink pad? I’m posting the card anyway, and may have to show it again later. The idea is super fun. I haven’t made a shaker card is forever, so there was a learning curve going on… re-teaching myself. :O)

The card base is Pool Party 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored on the long side at 4 1/4. I added the Basic White layer – 4 x 5 1/4 that is just a frame. Note that the color that shows through the hot air balloon die cut is the Pool Party card base. Next I die cut the hot air balloon top with the Hot Air Balloon Dies, turned it to the back side of the Lighter Than Air 6×6 DSP and added a piece of Window Sheet and adhered it in place over the opening. I then added a Foam Adhesive Strip around the die cut. I added more dimensionals on the back side of the DSP and set this aside. I used the die cut piece from the balloon die to note where the DSP panel would be added – and stamped a design for the balloon in Pool Party ink. Yep, I guess I really DO need to re-ink the ink pad! To the card base, I used a small condiment spoon to add some Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots to where the balloon die cut front panel will be attached to the card base, then turned the DSP over so it was face up and attached it to the Basic White panel/ card base. YAY! All was in place! And I set about decorating the front.

I die cut the basket for the balloon and the “strings'” that hold the basket to the balloon from Fresh Freesia card stock – both using the Hot Air Balloon Dies. They are so cool, you guys! But then, I proceeded to cover up the ‘strings’ with the sentiment banner. The sentiment banner is in two parts – at least on this card it is… The underlay I’m going to call it, and the overlay. :O) The overlay is the stamped sentiment in Pool Party ink that is too light to see in the photo. It says: Up, Up, And Away! HOORAY! IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY – and it’s been attached with dimensionals. I attached the basket with dabs of glue. I added two Balmy Blue Rainbow Adhesive Backed Dots (part of the suite of products) on either side of the banner, then added a bow with a glue dot. The Balmy Blue bow is from the Baker’s Twine Three Color Pack – which is also a part of the Suite.

For the inside… I stamped the balloon in Fresh Freesia ink, then the sentiment in Balmy Blue ink, and the basket in Bubble Bath ink. I left plenty of room for writing as I know where this card is headed. Have you ever been on a hot air balloon ride? I have – and it was fascinating. I could not believe how QUIET it was. We couldn’t hear traffic or even birds singing. Not hearing birds singing was a bit disconcerting to me. I hadn’t suspected it to be that silent.

The envelope… the flap has Lighter Than Air 6×6 DSP adhered and trimmed to fit. The envelope front has a partial sentiment from the Hot Air Balloon stamp set, stamped in Balmy Blue ink. I like this card but am disappointed I didn’t notice how light the stamping. Maybe it was the excitement of a ‘first time play” – who knows. I will play again, and re-ink a couple of ink pads before I play :O)

Stampin’ Up! January Paper Pumpkin – Lovely Lavender

Good Saturday – we have a simply gorgeous snow-covered landscape this morning. Photos never do it justice. Some of my favorites are the trees with snow on every branch, glistening and sparkling. Nature is amazing.

My January Paper Pumpkin arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to put it together. The patterns coordinate with the Perennial Lavender suite of products. I did NOT, however, use any of those – these were gorgeous all by themselves. What it makes is four gift tags (which can easily be made into cards if needed – and I might), and eight cards, 4 of each design.

Aren’t the colors wonderful? Notice the card next to the tags… it has an opening – that’s where the tag came from! Clever, right? And everything comes in the kit: glue dots, dimensionals, linen thread, stamp set, ink spot – and all the pieces/ parts to make both tags & cards. Oh, and did I mention envelopes? These envelopes are decorated on the inside and perfect for cutting open and using in some way. I confess, while I did make all four tags, I only made twocards of each design, with the intention of doing something with the envelopes. :O)

Stampin’ Up! December Paper Pumpkin is a WOW!

Good morning! My December Paper Pumpkin arrived yesterday and with no outside obligations last night I set right to work to put it together. The cards are gorgeous… and spring-like. There’s even a clear box for them so they can be given as a gift :O)

These last two photos show the envelope front and the acetate box with all nine cards inside. Notice there is a wrap around (belly band) piece with a single flower attached. Stampin’ Up! really went all out with this months kit. I love everything about them – and they took such a short time putting them together. I felt no need to come up with alternatives either – these are so pretty. At least for me – they fit the bill perfectly!

This kit is appropriately called All The Best and makes nine gorgeous cards. I’m hoping to pick up a refill or two when they become available. If you would like to start a Paper Pumpkin subscription, you can do that here. There are various types of subscriptions and you can find that info here.

Good morning! ‘Tis Tuesday Dec 19… we decorated our Christmas tree last night. It has become tradition to have a couple of family members come for dinner & tree ornament placement on the tree. Hubby got up Sunday morning at 4 AM and put all the lights on – 6-7 strands worth. It is thick with lights :O) Anyway – that isn’t why you’re here. Let’s check out this new stamp set from the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog…

Stampin' Up! Quiet Reflection stamp set

I used Mossy Meadow as the card base, Basic White and Neutrals 6×6 DSP then stamped a Basic White panel for the top layer. The stamping used Gray Granite ink, which looks a bit soft brown & gray. It’s perfect for this ‘scene’ – it’s a woodsy shadow look that is quite peaceful. And it’s meant to be. The sentiment is also from the Quiet Reflection stamp set and it was stamped with Gray Granite ink, as I mentioned earlier. I adhered the Basic White strip to Gray Granite card stock, put dimensionals on that and attached it to the stamped panel. As a final step, I added three Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots around the tree shadow.

For the inside of the card, the sentiment from Quiet Reflection is stamped in Gray Granite ink on the Basic White panel. I added a strip of the Neutrals 6×6 DSP in Mossy Meadow to the bottom – and that was it. Love this font!!!

For the envelope – more of the Neutrals 6×6 DSP in Mossy Meadow adhered to the flap & trimmed to fit. And that was it – kept very simple.

Stampin’ Up! Garden Meadow Bundle with Merry Bold & Bright DSP

Good Monday – ’tis already Dec 18! How are you doing with shopping? I’m nearly there but not quite :O) today’s the day to finish though. I had this Merry Bold & Bright DSP on my table and decided to use it – in kind of a different way. Really I’m just playing around. And I pulled out the Garden Meadow stamp set bundle. This is a fun bundle found in the new Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog. I love the rain boots stamp & coordinating die! And I wanted to use the ‘every day is a fresh start’ sentiment. To me it indicates we can wipe the slate clean and begin again, or… pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start anew. Anyway, here’s my card.

I also pulled out the Heartfelt Hexagon bundle to create the sentiment banner. I stamped the hexagon outline with Melon Mambo ink on a Basic White scrap, punched it out with the coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch then stamped the sentiment in Memento ink using the Garden Meadow stamp set. I stamped the boots in Memento ink as well, but on Merry Bold & Bright DSP, then die cut it with the appropriate die – both from the Garden Meadow bundle. Then I set about making the card base: Melon Mambo 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. I created layers with Flirty Flamingo and more Merry Bold & Bright DSP, trimming each on an angleI layered them together with liquid glue. I placed the boots on dimensionals and attached them. I stamped the sweet flowers in Memento ink using the sweet stamp in Garden Meadow stamp set. I colored the flowers with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends. (I should have stamped this sweet stamp in Garden Green ink!) The two layers were attached to the card base with dimensionals, then the hexagon piece was attached also with dimensionals.

For the inside… another layer of Flirty Flamingo was added to the card base. The Basic White panel was stamped first with the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink, then the basket of flowers in Memento ink. Both come from the Garden Meadow stamp set. I colored the flowers & leaves with Stampin’ Blends: Light Poppy Parade, Light Daffodil Delight, Dark Flirty Flamingo and both Dark & Light Lemon Lime Twist.

For the envelope… more of the Merry Bold & Bright DSP on the flap and the same precious basked from the Garden Meadow stamp set stamped on the front in Memento ink – same coloring as the inside basket :O). Stampin’ Up! Class Gnomes

Good morning Friday! We are headed out to pick up our live-cut tree this morning. It’s a tradition – no artificial tree for us. :O) We had card class yesterday – but in lieu of cards or boxes or a paper item, we made mop-head gnomes. – and a reindeer from clothes pins. Both turned out so cute.

Aren’t these fun? And it took about an hour to make the gnome and just a bit to make the reindeer. Great project for something different.

What to purchase to make the gnome:

  • 16 oz dry beans
  • sock
  • scarf
  • mop head
  • wooden pull for nose
  • Jingle bells & ribbon

How to make:

  • Keep beans in bag & insert into one sock.
  • Coat mop head with glue with glue gun
  • Roll down excess sock and insert mop head into opening
  • If so desired unroll some of the mop head ‘strings’ so beard is finer (we did)
  • Cut scarf in half, cut into v-shape, glue sides, turn inside out and place over mop head
    • Add jingle bell to length of ribbon and tie onto pointy end of hat
    • Can stuff hat with tissue to make it stand up – I did
  • Hot glue nose into place pushing it onto the sock ‘bean bag’
  • Done!

Stampin’ Up! Stippled Roses in Calypso Coral

Good Friday morning! What’s going on in your ‘neck of the woods’? We have coldness here in NJ – 27 degrees this AM – and have our heated bird bath working. The birds are flocking to it! I’m amazed how many are on it at the same time – and variety too. Nature has lessons for us :O)

My card today is another using Stippled Roses – I’m loving the detail of the stamped roses and the die cut leaves are just stunningly detailed.

I ran a Basic White piece through a new embossing folder called Softly Sophisticated 3D EF to create more texture for the card and added it to a Thick Basic White card base. I’ve paired the Softly Stippled DSP with Lost Lagoon card stock, adhered together, then added to the card front on dimensionals. I die cut a circle with the Stylish Shapes Dies as I like the look of the edge. I stamped the rose in Calypso Coral ink on a Basic White scrap & die cut it with the Stippled Roses Dies. I also die cut the leaves in Lost Lagoon card stock with one of the Stippled Roses Dies. I added the leaves to the circle with liquid glue and the rose image with dimensionals. Three Blooming Pearls were added to the circle which was adhered to the card front with liquid glue.

Nothing Calypso Coral on the inside of this card :O) – it’s all Lost Lagoon! Just look at those gorgeous leaves stamped. It’s a single stamp and simply beautiful – from Stippled Roses stamp set. The sentiment comes from the So Sincere stamp set in the retiring Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog. I layered the Basic White stamped panel to Lost Lagoon and then right onto the inside of the card base. DONE!

I kept the envelope super simple… added a piece of the Softly Stippled DSP to the envelope flap and that was it.

Good Thursday! And since it’s a Thursday – it means another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop :O) We have a sketch challenge today.

Is this DSP beautiful, or what?! It’s called Softly Stippled DSP and is in the new Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog. The leaves are all die cut with the Stippled Roses Dies using the Distressed Gold SDSP and they take my breath away – so much detail!. I used these to create the vertical line element of this sketch. The bottom line is made with another of the Softly Stippled DSP cut at 1″ for the width of the background DSP. I folded a length of Burlap Ribbon (from Real Red & Burlap Ribbon combo pack) and attached it in place with several glue dots. It sits behind the sentiment: stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on Basic White using a stamp from Stippled Roses stamp set, then die cut with the Perennial Postage Dies, another new item in the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog. It’s great to be able to mix stamp sets/ dies and DSP papers. This sentiment is added with dimensionals. There are two pieces of Designer Series Papers used on the card front – both from Softly Stippled DSP pack. These two were adhered together & added to the Lost Lagoon card base with dimensionals – and the card front was complete.

For the inside of the card – simplicity personified. This sweet rose was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on the Basic white panel. I took a water painter & smoothed the ink on the leaves. The stamp is from Stippled Roses stamp set. Added three Blooming Pearls around the lower leaf.

I did the same process stamping on the envelope: Lost Lagoon ink and a water painter to smooth the ink on the leaves. The stamp is, of course, from Stippled Roses stamp set. The envelope flap got more of the Softly Stippled DSP.

If you are a customer of mine and have ordered from me in the last 6 months it won’t be long before your catalogs are in the mail. I was able to order them Dec 5 and they should be here in a day or two so I can send them on, along with a letter & some info.. They have shipped from Utah, I know that :O)

Stampin’ Up! Brightest Glow & Labels Aglow Dies

Good Tuesday morning! Today is an exciting day for us Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators – for we are able to order Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalogs for our customers, Sale-a-bration catalogs AND items from the mini catalog to preview & play with. Oh my credit card!!! That is not why you joined me today..,. several days ago I mentioned how I thought all Christmas Cards were made – and then I got an order for 10. I completed them last night, so am sharing them this morning.

You can see I used the same layout for every one of the cards, but different card stock layers & DSP. My card base for all of them is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2. Colored card stock layers were pretty much the same as well… 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 and 4 x 3 3/4. Designer Series Papers were adhered to each panel and they are 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 & 3 3/4 x 3 1/2: Shining Christmas SDSP, Winter Meadow DSP, Joy of Christmas DSP. The sentiments were stamped in coordinating ink colors for each card: Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler, Blueberry Bushel, Lost Lagoon, and Mossy Meadow. I used the Layered Essential Dies for the sentiment area. For the bows: Linen Thread and Simply Elegant Trim in both Silver & gold. The sentiment is from the Brightest Glow stamp set. I did not take a photo of the inside, but used the circle die from the Labels Aglow Dies, stamped it in VersaMark ink and heat set in White Embossing Powder.

Stampin’ Up! Shining Christmas and Merriest Trees Dies Gift Card Holder

Good Monday morning! Gosh – here we are really INTO December. Have you decorated the house yet? We are in the midst and it is so very messy with all the boxes of decorations. The tree is the last thing to do… as we purchase a live cut tree. So we wait so it doesn’t become too dry and a hazard. :O)

Today’s post is all about gift card holders – and I have one to share that’s different. I like it!

Stampin' Up! Shining Christmas SDSP & Merriest Trees Dies

Love this little gift card holder and I’m in the process of making a few. This SDSP is shiny and of course, two-sided. The panel is 4 x 12 scored at 3, 6, & 9 1/8. Burnish gently. On last panel mark 1/2″ from the last score line at the top of the segment; make another 1/2″ mark up from the bottom of the end panel and cut diagonally.

Add Tear n Tape where the white strips are. Cut a panel of Basic White 2 7/8 x 3 7/8, stamp with sentiment (here I used the Brightest Glow stamp set and Cherry Cobbler ink) and adhere to second panel of SDSP (between 2nd & 3rd score lines). Remove Tear n Tape & close.

Cut about 20″ length of ribbon (here I used Real Red from the Real Red & Garden Green combo pack); add Stampin’ Seal to ribbon about 6 1/2 from one end and for about 6″.; add to front panel and to second panel, centering from top to bottom. Now decorate!

Stampin' Up! Shining Christmas SDSP & Merriest Trees Dies

I used the various sections of the Merriest Trees Dies to die cut the layers for the tree in Basic White. I attached each layer with dimensionals and added it over the ribbon – with dimensionals. I used the Silver & Gold Adhesive Backed Glimmer Paper and Merriest Trees Dies to die cut the trim and the star atop the tree and added these ever to easily to the complete the tree. I die cut a banner to add a name with the Tailor Made Tags Dies in Basic White and two circles over the hole in Cherry Cobbler. I colored a length of white twine with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends and tied it in a bow. This tag was attached with dimensionals. I die cut another tag jst as an illustration of where the gift card or check could be placed in the enclosure. And done!
