Stampin’ Up! Boughs of Holly in a Slimline Fun Fold

Good morning folks! Today’s card is very pretty and just a bit more involved than the tags I shared with you yesterday. And one of the interesting facts about card making is you can make it as simple or as complicated as YOU desire. 😊 This isn’t so complicated as it is layered. It is very pretty and a satisfying card to make. We had a team meeting the other afternoon and this card was designed by one of my teammates. I love it!

Stampin' Up! Boughs of Hololy Fun Fold.1

Let’s begin with the card base of Mossy Meadow 7 1/2 x 8 1/2. Score on the long side at 3 3/4 and 1 7/8; burnish well. Since this is an easel card, both folds will be mountain. Add the Boughs of Holly DSP to a Cherry Cobbler panel slightly larger, then to a Mossy Meadow panel a bit larger yet. (Further card cuts will be found at the end of this post.) Now let’s do some stamping & die cutting using the Leaves of Holly bundle. On a panel of Mossy Meadow and with Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the smaller outline of the two holly leaves three times. Now stamp the filler stamp in Mossy Meadow ink, stamped-off once. This gives the leaves dimension. Die cut these and set them aside. The berries are also a two step stamp as well: stamp the full berry in Real Red ink, then the detail in Cherry Cobbler ink: die cut and set aside. The beautiful label die in this this Leaves of Holly bundle is just gorgeous, with the holly leaves delicate die cuts on one side and the framing that is created. Die cut this in Cherry Cobbler. There is a die that is rather New Jersey shaped for cutting a piece to go behind the holly leaves – use this to die cut from another piece of Boughs of Holly DSP and adhere with dabs of liquid glue behind the holly leaves. Secure this to the large front panel on the left of the card. Add the three previously die cut leaves on the right of this panel, creating a spray. Add the berries in the center of the leaves with dimensionals. Time for a sentiment… let’s stamp this in Mossy Meadow ink using the Mistletoe Magic stamp set and on a Basic White piece. Die cut with the label die from Leaves of Holly Dies. Add to the Cherry Cobbler label with dimensionals. I tucked in three Gold Holly Leaves with glue dots as shown in the photo. Then I added several Real Red Rhinestone Jewels – some on the sentiment, the rest around the large holly leaves. Now attach this large panel to the lower fold of the card front, with glue just to the 1 7/8″ fold line to make this an easel card – and the card front is complete.

For the inside, we’ll do the stamping first: stamp the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink on a Basic White piece using Mistletoe Magic stamp set; die cut with the Frosted Flurry Die and set aside. Now pull out two Textural Elements – these are delicate wood elements and can be colored with Stampin’ Blends: Early Espresso for the stems and Real Red for the berries. I also added some Pearlized Enamel Effects in Real Red to the berries :O). These take a bit of time to harden. Add the Basic White panel to the remaining Cherry Cobbler piece and add it to the inside of the card. Now add the Textural Elements with glue dots on the back of each berry, making sure they are pretty even. These elements will be what the front of the card leans against to make it an easel card. :O) Clever, right? Back to the inside sentiment… add a length of Shimmer Ribbon in Gold with Tear n’ Tape to the back of the sentiment. Put dimensionals on this and add, centering, to the inside – as shown.

For the envelope… obviously a standard A2 envelope will not work for this card 😁 – but a leagal size one will! I happen to have a gold envelope… I covered the flap in more of the Boughs of Holly DSP then stamped the lower left corner with the outline stamp of the holly – Mossy Meadow ink, then stamped a second leaf without re-inking. This makes it look as though it is behind the first leaf. And that’s it! A very classy looking card.

Stampin’ Up! Detailed Tags Dies in a card

It’s Sunday – and we had a full moon a couple of night ago – our daughter’s cats were carrying on at their house. We have a dog and it didn’t seem to bother him at all, thank goodness. So why do I mention this – not sure… perhaps it was remembering the many deer in our front yard last night and wondering if one had anything to do with the other. I don’t know.

Today’s card is made with the Detailed Tags Dies in the 2022-2023 Annual catalog – such a pretty set. I want to share a card that I made with this.

Aren’t the colors pretty? Tahitian Tide & Orchid Oasis, with a bit of Rose Gold Specialty DSP. It’s obvious where I used the Rose Gold SDSP – the rose, and I removed some of the die cut pieces AND I fussy-cut around the outside. The butterfly I created by marking Basic White with Stampin’ Blends: Light Starry Sky and Light Daffodil Delight and die cut the image. It has two Glossy Dots Assortment in Pool Party on the butterfly.

The centerpiece is the largest die in the Detailed Tags Die set and is die cut from from 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 DSP – Tahitian Tide. I die cut another from Tahitian Tide card stock and adhered them together for strength before slipping a length of Natural Finish 7/8″ Ribbon through the openings. Once the rose and butterfly were attached with liquid glue I put dimensionals on the back and set it aside.

To the Thick Basic White card base I adhered a panel of Tahitian Tide (3 3/4 x 5). I then ran a slightly smaller Orchid Oasis panel through the Pretty Flowers embossing folder and added it to the Tahitian Tide. The dimensionals were already on the Detailed Tags Dies piece, so it was attached off-set as shown.

For the inside I die cut a ‘spray’ with the Detailed Tags Dies in Rose Gold SDSP and added it to a piece of Basic White card stock. With that in place I stamped the sentiment: Go To Greetings stamp set in Orchid Oasis. This panel was added to a Tahitian Tide and into the inside of the card – done!

The envelope was easy enough… more 2022-2024 In color 6×6 DSP for the envelope flap and another sentiment from the Go To Greetings stamp set in Orchid Oasis on the front. I like the contrast of the bright colors with white – it really makes it stand out.

Stampin’ Up! Happier Than Happy Fun Fold

Hello again. Guess what? I have another fun fold for you :O) In card class Thursday we made two fun folds ~ the one I posted yesterday with the Caroling Mice – a swing fold; and the other is the one I’m sharing with you today, made with Happier Than Happy stamp set. This could be masculine or a child’s card because of the colors & DSP. It could also be a woman’s card – it has flexibility.

See what I mean that this could be a child’s card? And these colors too are bright & cheery and wonderful together. Calypso Coral is the card stock base and Sahara Sand is the contrasting color. The DSP is from the Happier Than Happy 12 x 12 DSP pack. So – how to make this card…

Calypso Coral pieces: 5 1/2 x 11, scored on long side @ 4, 5 3/4, 7 1/2, 9 1/4; 5 x 2 1/2 scored at 2 1/2; 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 (inside panel)
Sahara Sand pieces: 2 1/4 x 2 14, 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 – emboss all of these with the Timber 3D embossing folder
Basic White: 2 x 2 (sentiment panel for inside) + additional pieces for stamped items
DSP – Happier Than Happy 12 x 12: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, cut 2

Begin by adhering pieces to panels 1,3 & 5: that’s DSP, Sahara Sand & Sahara Sand.

Adhere the square Sahara Sand piece to the left area on the scored 5 x 2 1/2 strip. Now adhere this strip to the front panel… with the card closed, place the left Sahara Sand portion on the front so it is equidistant from the left edge of the card & the right side of the card as well. Now, with the card folded accordian-style, adhere the right part of the 5 x 2 1/2 strip to panel 4. Adhere the additional DSP piece over top. Time to do some stamping/ decorating… stamp the front sentiment in Calypso Coral ink on Basic White using the Charming Sentiments stamp set; die cut with the coordinating Sentiment Silhouette Dies. Adhere to the front with mini dimensionals. Stamp the owl, stump and fox from Happier Than Happy stamp set on another Basic White scrap in Sahara Sand ink and die cut with the Happy Forest Friends Dies. Adhere in place as shown in photo. Stamp the inside sentiment (WOOHOO) from Charming Sentiments stamp set on the remaining Basic White 2 x 2 square in Sahara Sand ink and adhere to the inside. For the final touch, add the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots. Turn card over & adhere a panel 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 in Basic White on the back for writing a sweet note. DONE!

Last but not least is the envelope… more of the same Happy Forest Friends DSP on the flap, adhered & trimmed to fit. For the front, stamp the cute owl from Happier Than Happy stamp set in Sahara Sand – and it’s all read for someones special birthday :O)

Stampin’ Up! Caroling Mice Fun Fold

Good Friday morning! It’s fun fold Friday :O) This is such a quick & easy card even though it’s a fun fold. It’s really about paying attention to the detail – as in following instructions. I made this card not long ago but with the elephants and made it a baby card – also, the ‘swing’ was a square not a circle. This is called a Half Swing or Pop-Out Swing Card and it’s one of the cards we made in my card class yesterday. And here ya go…

I began with Thick Basic White card stock, standard A2 size (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) I adhered the DSP (4 x 5 1/2) on the right side only, then die cut the circle with the Stylish Shapes Dies (second largest). NOTE: the circle is rather equidistant from both sides and the top of the card front. I removed the circle, and adhered the rest of the DSP to the card front. With a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 square of Thick Basic White, cut the ‘frame’ for the circle using the two largest circles in the Stylish Shapes Dies and run them through the die cutting machine. On this circle, stamp the single mouse from the Caroling Mice stamp set in Memento ink: color the mouse with Stampin’ Blends. I used Evening Evergreen for the jacket, Real Red for the scarf, Light Basic Gray for the mouse and Soft Succulent for the hat. Put a dot of Pearlized Enamel Effects in white on the hat top and set aside to dry. This takes a bit of time to dry and you don’t want to smear it! Now lets create the ‘swing’ part :O)

Cut another piece of Thick Basic White 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score on the long side at 2, 4 and 6. Burnish well. On the 1/2″ end, make a cut to the score line approximately 1/2″ from top and 1- 1 1/2″ from the bottom and trim away the middle portion. You scored & trimmed piece should look like this.

And when adhering to the inside of the card, it will look like this. .. note in particular the direction of the tabs.

BEFORE ADHERING TO THE INSIDE OF THE CARD, STAMP THE VARIOS PANELS. I capitalized that sentence ‘cuz someone I know did not do that and stamping after it was adhered to the card base was tricky. :O( Here’s a photo after stamping and coloring with Stampin’ Blends – and already showing it attached.

The street light image from Caroling Mice stamp set was stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends: Basic Black, dark Real Red, So Saffron. For the light I first did the Light So Saffron, then used the Dark So Saffron in the lower portion of the left small opening and in the left corner of the large opening. This gave it a bit more depth. I also added Wink of Stella to the light area and the bow. The tree from Caroling Mice stamp set was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink and topped with Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins in red. Once everything was stamped & colored I adhered the inner panel to the card: the right portion got adhesive and was attached to the far right on the inside of the card, about 1/8″ from edge; with the tabs facing ‘in’ (see photo), add adhesive, fold the accordian inside flat and close the card front over. The tabs will adhere in the proper place and should NOT SHOW THROUGH the circle opening.

There is an extra circle die cut from the card front – use this to adhere to the stamped caroling mouse circle. Close card and put adhesive on the area that shows through the circle on the right side, attach colored caroling mouse circle and hold in place for a bit to make certain it is dry. Now open the card and wheee – the mouse is attached.

Now let’s finish the card front. Using Sweet Candy Canes stamp set, stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen on a Thick Basic White scrap. Die cut with the die from Candy Canes Dies. I found it easier to adhere the sentiment banner then add the ribbon – so that’s what I did. Adhere the sentiment banner with dimensionals; attached ribbon to both ends – I used the Real Red from the Real Red & Garden Green 3/8″ Ribbon Combo Pack in theJul-Dec Mini catalog. I used a length of Linen Thread tied in a knot to hold the ends together. For the final touch, three Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins were added to the banner. Such a fun card!

Stampin’ Up! Trimming the Tree in White

Good Tuesday morning… School starts today for many of the children around here. That reminds me of football games, marching band, cheerleaders, etc. etc. What are some of your mem’ries? And fall leads to Christmas, right? So today’s card is a Christmas card and it reminds me of my father-in-laws Christmas tree farm. His full time job was quite different: he designed engines for airplanes, but he loved his trees. There was a specific time of year for trimming, shaping ~ in hot July & early August. And trees trimmed that summer weren’t sold until at least the following year so the tips grew over. Nowadays when we go looking for a Christmas tree, they have all been recently shaped – ugh. Reminiscing… back to today’s card…

I chose not to use traditional Christmas DSP on this card, I used Texture Chic Specialty DSP ~ it adds a softness, doesn’t it? I had an aunt that would purchase heavily flocked trees and this sort of reminds me of that. Notice the tree on the left, it isn’t cut out entirely, just the pine boughs – and prior to attaching to your card stock, it’s easy to make those boughs poke out for more of a 3D effect. :O) The smaller tree on the right does the same thing – but it is totally die cut from the card stock. I cut very tiny pieces of dimensionals for the back of this tree to give it some depth. And those bows – are they delicate and sweet or what? They were die cut with the Tree Trimmings Dies as well as the trees: and so were the stars. The Tree Trimmings Dies coordinate (partner) with the Trimming the Tree stamp set in the Annual Catalog. The dies are being offered during the month of September only as part of the Perfect Partners promotion. These dies are wonderful – little ornaments and tree stands, and swags and so much more. But, back to the card. There are some layers here: Texture Chick SDSP, 12 x 12 Gold Foil, Gold 6×6 (as in Gold & Rose Gold 6×6 DSP) and the White Glimmer Paper for one of the stars, and Brushstroke in Soft Succulent (bows and backing to the trees). I’ll add the card cuts at the end of this post.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the snowflake from the Season of Chic stamp set in VersaMark ink then sprinkled it with Gold embossing powder and heat set. Once cool I used a Blending Brush to add some color – Soft Succulent. The sentiment is stamped in Evening Evergreen ink using the Trimming the Tree stamp set. on a Basic White panel. This was added to a piece of Evening Evergreen card stock, then added to the Soft Succulent card base.

For the envelope, more of the snowflake Texture Chic SDSP for the flap, trimmed to fit after adhering. And for the envelope front, I stamped the same snowflake from Seasons of Chic stamp set in Soft Succulent ink – two of them stamped-off & one in full strength. I can’t wait to play with these dies again…Tree Trimmings Dies, part of the Perfect Partners promotion! Stampin’ Up! Christmas Barn Bundle

Whew – Labor Day! How’s it going for you? Our dog got me up extra early this AM – before 4… and I’m draggy, didn’t get my post completed when I wanted to – but can’t blame him for that! Hope YOUR day is going well. My card today features the Christmas Barn Bundle PLUS the fabulous Split Card Textures Dies – both new to me. I also used another new product for me… the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint. Now THAT item takes a bit of getting used to. I couldn’t seem to make a thin enough ‘ribbon’ of Puff Paint, but I’ll share the card anyway.

The DSP in the background is the Painted Christmas DSP, a carryover from last year. I love it! Can you see the Puff Paint? I should have taken a couple of close-up photos. The line near the bottom is pretty good, and under the trees is OK. I DON’T like it on the trees :O( For one thing, it absorbed some of the green from stamping the tree. Who knew? Live & learn. Do you like the snowflakes though? They are from the Barn Dies – three sizes, just small. The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink from the Christmas Barn stamp set. And the sleigh… so cute. I couldn’t really decide what colors to use: Bronze for the sleigh, Lt. Cherry Cobbler for the blanket and the drivers hat; Lt. Soft Suede for the horse with a bit of Color Lifter for contrast; Lt Basic Black for the main & tail; Lt Evening Evergreen for the other hat and Light Smoky Slate for the trousers. After coloring, this was die cut with the coordinating Barn Dies. The trees were stamped in Garden Green from the Christmas Barn stamp set and die cut with the Barn Dies. They were adhered with liquid glue while the sleigh & its passengers were mounted on dimensionals. What else, that may be it for the card front.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Barn stamp set, stamped in Real Red ink on a Basic White panel. The wreath was stamped in Garden Green ink, then Lt Real Red Stampin’ Blends was used to color the pretty bow. I also covered the bow in Wink of Stella. I know you can’t see it here, but I did.

For the envelope, more of the same Painted Christmas DSP for the flap, adhered & trimmed to fit. For the front, this super sweet wreath was again stamped in Garden Green ink and colored with the Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends. Done!

Now here’s the thing… I SHOULD HAVE posted a card using one of the Perfect Partners for today. After all, it’s Sep. 5 and this weeks ‘deals’ only go through Sep 7. But I didn’t. I will give more information below about the Weekly Deals & the Perfect Partners stamps/ dies. :O)

Stampin’ Up! Apple Harvest Bundle Envelope Fun Fold

Hello again ~ Sat Sep 3, yikes the time is going f-a-s-t… Stampin’ Up has this super deal right now with Perfect Partners. What that means is they created dies to go with an existing stamp set and only during the month of September will they be available. Today I’m sharing some of the not so obvious dies in the bundle to create this fun envelope fold. Let’s take a peek.

In this photo you can see the really fun apple blossoms and the wonderful branch. The flowers have intricate lines in each of the petals that really set them apart from other floral dies. And you can see there are two sizes of blossoms and the fun stamens as well. Gorgeousness. I added a single Glossy Dots Assortment in Daffodil Delight to the center of each blossom. And the branch is die cut from Soft Suede and has detail ridges and lines in it too – very delicate. The bottom front of this envelope fold is embossed in the Pretty Posies embossing folder. I like the added texture & pattern. The DSP is Gingham Cottage in Blushing Bride. I might note here that the smaller blossoms above were die cut from scrap of this DSP. The stamens were die cut from scrap of the Abigail Rose DSP used on the inside of the card. To make the v-shape for the distinctly ‘envelope’ card I used the Basic Borders Dies.

The inside shows more of the Apple Blossom Dies at the top with the sentiment banner – that stamp & die are from the Apple Blossom Bundle, and at the bottom with the beautiful scallop. What you see is a strip from the die cut, the bottom, and the very delicate upper scallop is the real deal. Both sentiments on this are from the Apple Blossom stamp set.

The upper portion of the envelope flap is covered in Abigail Rose DSP using a Smoky Slate piece to coordinate with the card base.

The photo above shows the entire length of the card – back side. It’s clear I used two sizes of the plaid from Gingham Cottage DSP – love the contrast.

For the envelope – more of the same Blushing Bride Gingham Cottage DSP for the flap. At the bottom of the envelope is the remainder of the scallop die cut from the Apple Blossom Dies. Here’s what I did… I began with a strip about 1 x 6 and used the scallop die close to one edge lengthwise. After running it through the Cut & Emboss machine it left three pieces – this is the last of those and the piece closest to the edge when die cut.

I can’t wait to play more with this Apple Harvest Bundle – such a beautiful set. The stamp set is from the Jul-Dec catalog, but the bundle is new. You can purchase each of these individually, but with 10% off when bundled, why would you?

Stampin’ Up! Cottage Wreaths in Rose Gold

Hello again… I have another Christmas card to share with you today, but truth be told, it wouldn’t have to be a Christmas card: change the outside sentiment and it could be ‘hello friend’. Yes, you might want to change the colors too. Maybe I should do just that??!! Here’s my card for today.

Stampin' Up! Cottage Wreaths in Rose Gold.1

The colors in this are so soft. A bit Victorian looking as I look at it now. I started with Thick Basic White in an A2 size, then cut another panel of Basic White & ran it through the Stripes & Splatters embossing folder. This I adhered directly to the card front. Before doing any more, I die cut two wreaths using the Country Wreaths Dies: one in Gold Metallic 6×6 and one in Rose Gold Metallic 6×6. They come together in a 6×6 packet. I layered them together with dabs of glue along the center, then curled the leaves slightly with my fingers. I added several Pearl Basic Jewels. The bow… is also from the Country Wreaths Dies and uses the Pearlescent Paper that has a glorious sheen to it. This I added with a couple of dimensionals. This was layered on two panels: top is the Brushstroke in Blushing Bride (gosh it’s gorgeous… I think I’ve been hoarding it) and Rose Gold. These were adhered together and added to the card front; the wreaths were added next, centering in the almost square. I stamped the sentiment in Blushing Bride ink using the Hope & Peace stamp set from the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog, on a Basic White piece and die cut it with the Potted Succulent Dies from the 2022-2023 Annual catalog. Isn’t it fun how easy it is to co-mix Stampin’ Up! items? Once die cut this was adhered with dimensionals – and the card front was done.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment on a Basic White panel with Blushing Bride ink and another wording from the Hope & Peace stamp set. This was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Blushing Bride card stock then into the card itself – and DONE.

For the envelope… a panel of Basic White was run through the same Stripes & Splatters embossing folder and adhered to the flap & trimmed to fit. This gorgeous bow from the Cottage Wreaths stamp set was stamped in Blushing Bride ink and coated with Wink of Stella. I know you can’t see it in this photo, but it makes a nice glam & glitter :O)

Stampin’ Up! Christmas for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

This was fun challenge sketch. I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do, but wanted to show off some DSP and this was the result. The DSP is Boughs of Holly and it has some stunning papers in the package. These sweet poinsettias and that stripe – love them together. And that rather mottled piece is from the same packet. It sets everything apart. Those gold pine boughs are from the Christmas Banners Dies and die cut from Brushed Metallic DSP. There are three of them. The sentiment banner stamped on Basic White is from the Christmas Banners stamp set, die cut with the Christmas Banners Dies. The banner portion was stamped in Evening Evergreen while the sentiment is in Cherry Cobbler. And those uber cute embellishments? Those are Red & Green Adhesive-Backed Pearls found in the Jul-Dec Mini Catalog.

Let me explain the inside. I used the Deckled Rectangle Dies to die cut the poinsettia DSP on the card front & placed the die in the center of the paper to create this ‘frame’ for the inside. Clever, right? I adhered the Basic White to the back of the ‘frame’ in order to realize the proper spacing for stamping. The sentiment is from Christmas Banners stamp set and done in Evening Evergreen ink. The sprig of berries is Evening Evergreen for the branch and Real Red for the berries. I wanted them vibrant! This was adhered to the inside of the card – and done.

The envelope uses the same DSP for the flap, just the reverse side. And the spray of berries was accomplished the same manner as the inside of the card.What do you think… do you approve? Stampin’ Up! Creating Your Own DSP w/ Quiet Meadow

Good morning! Oh I do hope you like today’s post… a quick & easy and fun card ~ creating your own DSP or Designer Series Paper. I used the Quiet Meadow stamp set, a tag left over from the August Paper pumpkin kit and several inks: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede and Blackberry Bliss.

I started with a card base with a very light wash of Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry inks. When dry I began stamping, first in the corners with the ‘words’ stamp in the Quiet Meadow stamp set and stamped off Soft Suede. You can see I stamped it three times. Next I stamped the large floral stamp in stamped off Melon Mambo, then the single flower in stamped off Crushed Curry.I incorporated just a bit of Blackberry Bliss with the splatter stamp and finally the small flowers in stamped off Melon Mambo. I wanted to be sure the card front was pretty well covered. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink, full strength, on a left over tag from the August Paper Pumpkin kit. You could easily create your own tag though! I decided on a Pale Papaya Woven Ribbon to place behind the banner, put dimensionals on the banner and voila – in no time at all the card front was stamped & ready… I adhered it to a slightly larger Melon Mambo card stock then added those to the Thick Basic White card base.

For the inside, in lieu of a wash I used my Blending Brush and Crushed Curry ink to add a background color for the single flower in Quiet Meadow stamp set. The flower was stamped in full strength Melon Mambo then I continued stamping two more times without re-inking.

For the envelope you can see I used my Blending Brush again to create a background of Crushed Curry, then stamped the large floral in Melon Mambo. For the flap, more Crushed Curry for background, then the single flower stamped in Melon Mambo. Again, I did not re-ink, I simply continued stamping. Simply love how simple and easy this was and what a pretty card it created. I’ll be honest, I haven’t even wanted to try this before. Now I’ve done it I’ll probably do it fairly often :O)
