Stampin’ Up! Daffodils for the Happy Inkin’ Blog Hop

Hello Friends… it’s happy Thursday.

Welcome to the Blog Hop! There will be some gorgeous creations on the hop today – enjoy – and be sure to go through everyone’s blog. I’m using one of the springy Designer Series Papers for my card today – Daffodil Afternoon 12×12 that is FREE during Sale-a-bration. This is only available through Feb 28, 2022 with any order of $50 – get yours before it ends! Here’s my card.

Daffodils for the Blog Hop 2/24.1

And here’s our sketch challenge.

This is a very feminine card – and I love the combination of Designer Papers. Daffodils are one of the first signs of Spring and this just feels so ‘right.’ Here are the details…

  • Cut card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, score at 4 1/4. This is Pear Pizzazz
  • Cut DSP 4 x 5 1/4 and adhere w/ liquid glue
  • Cut coordinating DSP 2 5/8 x 3 7/8. Adhere to card stock panel (Crushed Curry here) 2 3/4 x 4. Adhere these to a Very Vanilla panel 3 x 4 1/4. Add dimensionals to the back and center on card front.
  • Stamp sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink using the Art Gallery stamp set on a Very Vanilla scrap. Die cut with the Tailor Made Tag Dies.
  • Add ribbon to tag: Bumblebee Gingham ribbon, securing together with a glue dot
  • Put dimensionals on back of tag & attach to card front. Done!
Daffodils for Blog Hop 2/24.2 (inside)

For the inside…

  • Cut DSP 4 x 5 1/4 and adhere to the inside of the card.
  • Cut Very Vanilla panel 3 1/8 x 4 1/8.
  • Stamp with butterfly from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set in Memento ink and color with Daffodil Delight Blends & Black Blends.
  • Stamp the ‘pollen’ from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set in Crushed Curry ink ~ the butterfly is scattering pollen from his legs ass he flies from flower to flower. :O)
  • Add this panel to a piece of Crushed Curry 3 3/8 x 4 3/8, then to the inside of the card. Finis!

For the Very Vanilla envelope…

Daffodils for Blog Hop 2/24.3
  • More DSP added to the envelope flap
  • Stamp the daffodil from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set in Memento black ink.
  • Color leaves with both Old Olive Stampin’ Blends
  • Color the daffodil with both Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends

I love how ‘fresh’ this looks. It’s cheerful too. Hope you like it as well. Remember the Daffodil Afternoon DSP is only available to the end of Sale-a-bration, 28 Feb., with any $50 order. Dont’ wait, don’t hesitate ~ get it now :O)

Stampin’ Up! On the Horizon with Sailing Home

The New Horizons 6×6 DSP can create a card all by itself. Today I have used the Sailing Home stamp set along with the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies to make the card special for a friend who needs a ‘lift me up.’ It’s also a fun fold…

On the Horizon w/ Sailing Home.1

The card base is Basic White (thick) 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4. Then fold the front piece back on itself to create the fold. Easy peasy! Next, I began by cutting the DSP to a 5 1/4 length, then twice at 1 7/8. That left one piece wider – 2 1/4. The birds are stamped using the On The Horizon stamp set in Misty Moonlight directly onto the New Horizons 6×6 DSP. I then mounted them on panels of Blackberry Bliss 2 x 5 3/8 (2) and 2 3/8 x 5 3/8 and added them to the card. I stamped the sailboat using the Sailing Home stamp set (this person is a sailor) in Misty Moonlight and die cut it using the Smooth Sailing Dies. I put dimensionals on the back and added it to the front panel. To the last panel I stamped the sentiment from On the Horizon stamp set in Blackberry Bliss, taping off the word ‘you’. That word was stamped on the white section left. I then stamped the word ‘breathe’ in Misty Moonlight – also from the On the Horizons stamp set. The three birds are stamped in Misty Moonlight using the Sailing Home stamp set. I underlined the word ‘breathe’ with the Blackberry Bliss marker. For a final touch I added the Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels -(NEW ITEM) I’ll put my personal note on the back of this card.

On the Horizon w/ Sailing Home.2

For the envelope, I used more of the New Horizons 6×6 DSP to the flap and stamped the anchor from Sailing Home in Smoky Slate ink. Done. Love the simplicity of this.

Stampin’ Up! On the Horizon with Brilliant Wings Dies Sympathy

It’s Monday the 21st & celebrating President’s Day! WooHoo! It’s a 3-day weekend so folks can travel someplace fun for a couple of days. No mail delivery, no school, etc. Quiet day, maybe.

My last post was a sympathy card ‘cuz one of our church staff members passed away unexpectedly. Today’s card is for a man on staff who worked closely with the deceased. While it doesn’t look masculine, it is… The blues and other coloring are subtle & gentle – offering solace. Here it is…

On the Horizon w/ Brilliant Wings Dies Sympatghy.1

Using Granny Apple Green, Misty Moonlight & Pacific Point inks and a Blending Brush, I colored a piece of Thick Basic White card stock, overlapping colors as I liked. Then I used the Brilliant Wings Dies to cut several butterflies. Let me say here, that I have two sets of these dies… one cut apart & one left as it came – whole. For this project I used the cut apart dies so I could place them in strategic places on the inked card stock. 🙂 The next step was to run a panel of Basic White through the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. I love the deepness of embossing this creates. I adhered this with liquid glue directly to the Misty Moonlight card base. Next I stamped the woodgrain ‘log’ with Basic Gray ink then die cut it with the Horizon Dies. I stamped the sentiment using the On the Horizon stamp set and Pacific Point ink on the ‘log’. This I put on dimensionals and adhered to the card front, leaving room for the butterfly. The butterfly has dimensionals only under the body. I added a Misty Moonlight/ Silver bow from the Flowers for Every Season pack with a glue dot. This is such a great combination of ribbons! Then I added 3 Adhesive-Backed Hexagons to the ‘log’ and the card front was complete.

On the Horizon w/ Brilliant Wings Dies Sympathy. inside

On the inside I stamped the silhouette of a leaf pattern using the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set in Granny Apple Green on a panel of Basic White card stock. I stamped the sentiment using the Inspired Thoughts stamp set (one of my favs!) in Misty Moonlight ink. This panel was adhered direcvtly to the inside of the card – and done!

On the horizon w/ Brilliant Wings Dies Sympathy.3

For the envelope, I used the ‘silhouette’ of two butterflies that I had die cut from the Basic White piece, then used the Blending Brush, Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point inks to color it. L-O-V-E!

Stampin’ Up! Calming Camellia Sympathy

We had a tragic loss in our church last week when one of our staff had a heart attack. He was youngish and leaves behind a family. It was such a shock and so unexpected. The man was treasured… touching so many lives with his generous heart. I’ve used Calming Camellia for the women on the staff and want to share one of those with you today. It uses the whitewashing technique, which I have used before.

Calming Camellia Sympathy.1

I began with a card base of Soft Succulent, then cut another panel in the same color just a shade smaller. I embossed this smaller piece twice, first with the Tasteful Textile EF then ran it through again using the Timeworn 3D EF. I followed by fraying the edges by rubbing the open scissors along all four sides and also made a few tears. Next I stamped Calming Camellia in Soft Succulent ink on a piece of Soft Succulent cut squarely slightly larger than the stamp. I then used Whisper White ink pad, my oldest Blender pen and an acrylic block: ink the acrylic block by stamping it on the ink pad, then add a drop of white ink refill. Now color using the fairly dry Blender pen to color the flower. You may find it necessary to add layers of the white – I did until I was satisfied with the look. I ruffled the square as before for added texture, then adhered it to a piece of Marbled 6×6 DSP cut to the same size (this DSP is available for FREE during Sale-a-bration!)

Putting the card together…

  • Wrap a length of white Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack around the panel that was twice embossed. Adhere the twine in back with Stampin’ Seal. Now adhere that piece to the card base with liquid glue. With dimensionals on the back of the square pieces, add to the card front, centered or off-set. I tend to like mine off-set, so did that. I added a Baker’s Twine bow then some pearl Basic Jewels.
Calming Camellia Sympathy, inside

For the inside, I stamped the leaf from the Calming Camellia stamp set in Soft Succulent ink on a Basic White panel, then added the sentiment, also in the same ink color, nearby. This panel was adhered to the inside of the card & voila!

Calming Camellia Sympathy.3

For the Basic White envelope, I stamped the leaf both on the envelope flap and the front of the envelope in Soft Succulent ink. I added the scrolly stamp in Evening Evergreen ink. This finished card looks very Victorian to me & I really like it. And I think it will fit the individual for whom it is intended. Hope you like it as well.

Now, just a word about Calming Camellia – this is a hostess stamp set – so a $300 purchase is necessary to get it for FREE! The Marbelized 6×6 DSP is also FREE during Sale-a-bration. So… hint, hint. Get your buddies together to have an order valued to $300 so you too can get this set! For more info, see the ordering info below.

Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Afternoon DSP B’day

Hello everyone! It’s c-o-l-d here on the Jersey coast – 9 degrees yesterday, 19 today (wow – a heat wave!). I have two cards for you today, both of which are birthday cards using Daffodil Afternoon DSP from Sale-a-bration. It’s a FREE DSP pack when ordering $50 or more.

Daffodil Afternoon DSP.card 1

Notice how on this card more of the daisies show their glory even though there are daffodils in the lower half. Begin by creating the card base: Flirty Flamingo and covering the front with a panel of Daffodil Afternoon DSP that would coordinate with the main front. Then cut a piece of the DSP, cut it in half lengthwise, then take the right piece and cut it in two pieces. You can vary the cuts to suit the design. Adhere this DSP to a panel of Flirty Flamingo, put dimensionals on the back and center it on the card front. For the sentiment panel, I stamped in Memento Black ink on Pale Papaya card stock using the brandy newy Waves of Inspiration stamp set ‘happy birthday’. It is a perfect size for this card. Then I die cut it with one of the Waves Dies and put dimensionals on the back. I slipped a length of the fun Glittered Organdy Ribbon behind the front panel and then through each side of the sentiment banner, securing the ribbon in place with a glue dot on each end. I added three Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels… and the card front was complete.

Daffodil Afternoon DSP.card 2

Card 2 was begun the same as the first. The difference is the front panel was off-set to the top in lieu of center. Also – no ribbon. And the sentiment banner is stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and die cut with Tropical Layers Dies. I’ll be honest, I like the front panel better when it’s centered, but I thought this looks ok. I still included the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels and like the added sparkle.

The inside of the cards are the same: a stamp from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set was stamped in Pale Papaya ink on the Very Vanilla panel and adhered to the inside of the card. For the envelope, I used the same stamp & ink for the front and more of the Daffodil Afternoon DSP for the flap.

And there you have it… two cards, same DSP, very similar layout/ design. Card cuts will be listed at the end of this post. I hope you like… these cards are definitely a breath of spring – which is right around the corner!

Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Jan ’22

Happy Monday! New week, new day, new start to whatever. I like to think of it as a new beginning each day, a start-over. Gratitude, praise, thanks, then go… Howe do you like to start your day ~ besides with a cup of coffee or tea?

My Paper Pumpkin arrived the other day and since our grandkids are coming this weekend (it’s my birthday weekend:) I thought, what better time than now to put these adorable cards together & give them to our “Grands” to share with their classmates or teachers. So I set to work. I limited myself to additional Stampin’ Up! products as I needed to keep these simple. I chose Sweet Talk 12 x 12 DSP, Daffodil Afternoon 12 x 12 DSP and Gold Foil Sheets for decorative papers; the Heart Punch and the Scalloped Heart punch, Basic White, Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink card stocks + all the PP kit ingredients. So – lots of pictures in this post…

And a couple of photos of the inside of the alternative cards…

Additional inks used were Blushing Bride & Flirty Flamingo + the ink in the kit, Gray Granite. 17 cards in all ~ that’s a lot of cards with minimum product added to the Paper Pumpkin kit. Such a good deal – just sayin’. And these kits come monthly with each one different from the last. Some make cards, some are boxes or treats, it varies, which is kinda fun. This way a person doesn’t get bored :O) Now is a good time to join Paper Pumpkin too, ‘cuz prices increase just a bit as of Mar 1, 2022. And if you get the entire year subscription, that becomes a fixed price before Mar 1… Get your Paper Pumpkin, click here.

Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Afternoon DSP and Daisy Punch

It’s Friday ~ TGIF! It’s amazing how quickly the days pass. I hope you have plans to do some creative fun this weekend. Whatever your plans, may you be safe. My card today shines with the Daffodil Afternoon 12 x 12 DSP that is free during Sale-a-bration when you place an order of $50 or more. It also uses the Medium Daisy Punch. Let’s take a look.

Daffodil Afternoon DSP & Daisy Punch.1

I’ve used several items to create this card, but really love how they worked together. The zig zag elements are cut with the Tropical Layers Dies and create this wonderful trim to make the DSP pop. The die has what I’m calling a stitched edge that also enhances the lines on the DSP daisy. I used Daisy Lane Stamp set for stamping the daisy with Basic Gray ink on Very Vanilla, colored the center with Flirty
Flamingo Stampin’ Blends then popped three Pastel Pearls on it for glam. I layered two dimensionals on top of one another before adding it to the card front. The sentiment comes from another FREE Sale-a-bration item called Special Moments stamp set and was stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla card stock and fussy cut. I put it on dimensionals and added it to a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock. (This also comes with an order of $50 or more.) Two more Pastel Pearls were added to pull this together.

For the inside…

Daffodil Afternoon inside.2

This seems like a modern type of card to me, and since I had these pieces that fit so nicely inside, I used them! They are Very Vanilla card stock adhered to the Mossy Meadow card base. I then stamped the daisy with Mossy Meadow ink using the Daisy Lane stamp set. The sentiment (Friend) also comes from Daisy Lane and is stamped in Mossy Meadow ink.

For the envelope…

Daffodil Afternoon DSP & Daisy Punch.3

I stamped the daisy randomly on the envelope flap in Mossy Meadow ink, then stamped a single daisy on the front ~ and the card was done. Love this layout!

Stampin’ Up! Calming Camellia for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome! It’s Thursday and that means we have a special blog hop… love these hops and all the creativity that is shared.

We have a sketch challenge which you will see below – fun sketch. I kept thinking of all kinds of ideas to do for this, but settled on a favorite new (to me)technique called ‘whitewash’ and I did it a bit differently than I shared the other day. You can see that post here.

May be an image of text that says 'Happy Inkin Thursday Blog Hop February 3-Sketch Challenge aasasss'

And here’s my card for this sketch, using the fabulous Calming Camillia stamp set. This set comes when you do a $300 order. That means as a host, you can take orders from others to get to this amount. It’s a win-win. And don’t forget, Sale-a-bration is on until Feb 28 and lots more freebies come during this time when you place an order of $50 or more. But… on with how to make this card. 🙂

Calming Camillia.1

Stamp the flower from Calming Camillia on a Night of Navy panel with Night of Navy ink. Color the flowers only using an empty but damp water painter brush and Whisper White ink. In other words, the brush itself was still wet but the holder just had drops of water in it. I used an acrylic block and placed it on the white ink pad. covering it with ink. I took my brush and used the block as my ink pad. With this technique the ink went on more easily – and I colored only the flowers. These I wanted to stand out. I used just the very tip of my brush to create some highlights along various edges. Once that was good and dry, I ruffed the edges with the side of my paper snips. I cut another panel of New Horizons 6×6 DSP and ruffed the edges of it as well. This gives it kind of a vintage look, don’t you think so? I adhered the two together with liquid glue, offsetting the DSP panel.

I took another piece of the Night of Navy card stock and ran it through the Hive 3D embossing folder, then ran it through again with the Timeworn 3D embossing folder, then roughed the edges of that panel too. I laid a length of Flowers For every Season Ribbon Combo pack on the card base then adhered the embossed panel to the Night of Navy card base. I tied a bow on the side, put dimensionals on my square pieces and adhered this over the ribbon. At this point I felt the card needed a little more color to it, so I die cut the fun curved panel from the Brilliant Rainbow Dies and a scrap of the New horizons 6×6 DSP, slipped it under the ribbon and adhered it with dabs of liquid glue. For a final touch I added three Polished Dots to the floral panel and the card front was done.

For the inside…

I stamped the leaf image from Calming Camillia in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White panel, then added a couple of the flourishes from the stamp set, also stamping in Night of Navy ink. The sentiment also comes from Calming Camillia stamp set and was stamped in Night of Navy ink. I added this stamped panel to the inside of the card with liquid glue.

For the envelope…

Calming Camillia.4

More of the New Horizons 6×6 DSP was adhered to the envelope flap. For the front of the envelope a beautiful leaf from Calming Camillia was stamped in Night of Navy ink.

This is a wonderfully versatile card: it could be used for a birthday, sympathy or simply just a note to someone special. I love that it can be used for several different occasions.

Stampin’ Up! Whitewash Technique with Daisy Garden

This is a new technique for me ~ and I loved it. For one thing, I enjoy coloring and that’s helpful with so many flowers to do – lol. And I’ve prepared two cards… one is silver embossed while the other is stamped with Misty Moonlight ink. Both are done on Misty Moonlight card stock.

Whitewash w/ Daisy Garden & Embossing.1

With the photo on the left, I inked the Daisy Garden stamp with my VersaMark ink pad then stamped it on the Misty Moonlight card stock that had first been rubbed with my embossing buddy to remove any static or finger prints. I sprinkled the image with silver embossing powder and heat set it. While it was cooling, I prepared my acrylic block by placing it on the White stamp pad to get a good amount of ink on it. I also added a dab of White reinker to the same block. Then I set to coloring using my blender pen as the tool of choice. I colored all the flowers with a basic layer of white ink then followed by adding more white where I wanted it. I used the reinker for additional highlights. I attached this to a Basic White panel with liquid glue, put dimensionals on the back then added that to the Misty Moonlight card base.

Whitewash Technique w/ Daisy Garden.2

With this photo, I stamped the Daisy Garden (yes, using my Stamparatus) with Misty Moonlight ink. I then took an acrylic block and ‘inked’ it on the White stamp pad. I did this by simply putting the acrylic block directly to the ink pad and lifting it. I also added a drop of White reinker to the block. I used my my blender pen as a paint brush to add color to the flowers. As the ink dries it becomes more pale and therefore more coloring is needed to get the desired amount of white to the flowers. I used the drop of reinker when I wanted more highlights in detail and this shows nicely in this photo. it does not show as well on the silver embossed card – at least not in the photo. I added the panel to a Night of Navy piece, wrapped a length of Seam

Binding ribbon around it and tied a knot. I put dimensionals on the back and adhered it to a Basic White card base. I added another small bow with a glue dot, then three Pearl Basic Jewels. I will do the same sentiment as the above card, but use Misty Moonlight ink in lieu of embossing. It will get dimensionals & be added on top of the ribbon. I simply forgot!!!

On the embossed card I made what I call a ‘fussy bow’ using the Seam Binding Ribbon in White and the Silver Cording from the Simply Elegant Trim pack. (This is a great bow for hand delivered cards!) For the sentiment on the front, I used the Love & Happiness stamp set, stamped it in VersaMark ink then sprinkled with Silver Embossing powder and heat set. I put dimensionals on the back and and added it appropriately. For a final touch, I added three Pearl Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

For the inside of these cards…

Whitewash Daisy Garden, inside.3
Whitewash daisy garden, inside.4

For both cards I stamped the sentiment from Love & Happiness stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on a Basic White panel. For the card on the left, the panel was adhered directly to the inside of the Misty Moonlight card base. For the card on the right, I adhered the panel to a Night of Navy piece then into the Basic White card.

Love this technique and can’t wait to do it again, using another floral stamp!

Stampin’ Up! Z Fold Window Card

Hello Friday! It’s been a busy week here and what we’ve got today is a fun fold for Valentines. And these are for our grand kids :O) I think they are going to like them. I’ve used Sunshine & Rainbows 6×6 DSP (FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order – just sayin’) and some of the new stamp bundles from the Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog.

For the card on the & far left I’ve used the Brilliant Rainbows Dies to get the rainbow, die cut directly from the Sunshine & Rainbows 6×6 DSP! And I used the Cloud Punch to create the clouds, again, directly punching them from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP. The little heart is from the Sweet Hearts Dies.

For the middles card I taken the heart from the Love & Happiness bundle – using the Bouquet of Love dies and the smaller heart. The sentiment panel is a die from that same set, while the sentiment is from Love & Happiness stamp set.

For the far right cards: heart, flowers and sentiment banner are all from the Bouquet of Love Dies. The DSP is another of the Rainbows & Sunshine 6×6 DSP.

OK, I got theses in reverse order! But you can still see they are all different while still being the same fold. And here’s the full view of the inside when it’s pulled fully open.

Z Fold Valentines

Sweet conversations stamp set for the hearts & both sentiments.

Sweet Conversations stamp set for the sentiments on the center; Happy & heartfelt for the sentiment on the flap; and the tiny hearts are from Rainbows of Happiness stamp set.

Z Fold Window card, inside

The sentiment & hearts are from Rainbows of Happiness stamp set.

Directions for creating this fun fold are super easy.

  • Card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Basic White panel is 8 x 5 1/4, scored at 4″ & 6″
  • The Designer Series Paper is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (front panel); 1 3/4 x 5 (inside panel) and 1/2 x 4, all from the same DSP piece, just turned over to use the opposite side
  • Adhere the DSP to the card front and cut the window with the Layering Circles Dies. I found it helpful to run it through twice for a sure cut.
  • Stamp the Basic White panel as desired, then adhere to the inside of the card as shown.
  • You may at this point chose to die cut additional circles, just be certain to use the same size as the circle cut from the card front – so it covers the entire window opening. Adhere all pieces together.
  • Close the card and adhere the circles making certain to put adhesive only on the side that attaches to the fold :O). It’s best to adhere when the card is closed, so the circle fits the window perfectly.
  • Now finish decorating the circle as desired, making certain nothing interferes with the closure. Finis!
