Stampin’ Up! Frosted Forest Halloween Card

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop Group! We have a theme challenge today – Halloween – and I have to say up front, I am not a Halloween kinda gal, so this was a bit of a struggle for me. But I have to say, I like my card and I had fun creating it. :O)

Stampin' Up! Frosted Forest Halloween Card

This card started with a Misty Moonlight card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. I layered a Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP to the front cut at 4 x 5 1/4. The blues and purples create a spooky kind of look to me. Next I stamped a gorgeous moon from Under the Moon stamp set in Lemon Lolly ink. It was waaay too large for this card so I punched it with a 1 3/4″ circle punch, then trimmed it down again with the same punch to create this moon image. I set the moon aside while I die cut the trees from Basic Black using dies in the Frosted Forest Dies. They are gorgeous! I die cut three full images, then trimmed them down to get seven trees in all, layering as needed. I added these with liquid adhesive so that every branch wasn’t flat – a bit of dimension please. Once the trees were in place I adhered the moon. Bats are perfect in a Halloween picture, so I stamped the bird in Memento ink and colored it with a Basic Black Marker, die cut it with the Frosted Forest Dies and attached it – close enough for a bat, right?!

For the inside… On a 4 x 5 1/4 Basic White panel I added more of the same image from the Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP – 2 x 4 – and attached a remaining tree with liquid glue. I pulled out the Alphabet Dies and more Basic Black, die cut the letters BOO! and attached them at an angle. Yep – another bird was needed so I did the same as the bird image on front: stamped in Memento ink and colored with Basic Black Marker. Believe it or not, the bird is part of the Frosted Forest stamp set and has a coordinating die!

For the envelope I used more of the Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP that coordinated with what I used on the card front, to adhere to the flap & trimmed to fit. I stamped three images of the bird on the envelope front.

Stampin’ Up! Take A Bow 6×6 Stack & Cut C’mas Cards

This is a brand new week – and hard to believe it is September 2 already. The summer went by so darn quickly…. and yes, it isn’t ended until September 22, I get that. But somehow, Labor Day, school starting, other programs picking up again – it seems like summer ‘up & went.’ Bad English, I know. My cards today… I have resisted creating the ever popular ‘stack & cut cards’. And that’s on me. Yesterday I did it and here are the four cards I created.

One of the reasons I have resisted making stack & cut cards is they are so similar – and I rarely make two of the same card. What I did here is use very different dies for the front sentiment panels. And if you are not familiar with stack & cut cards – here’s the idea… take 4 designer series papers that coordinate, stack them one on top of the other and cut – meaning all four papers are cut exactly the same. What changes is the order of how they appear on the card. And I made my cards as two horizontal and two vertical cards. By switching the cut papers it changes the ‘look’ of each card while using all the same papers. Make sense?

How to create these cards… the DSP is Take A Bow 6×6 DSP available Sep 4 in the new 2024 Sep-Dec Mini Catalog – choose four (4) coordinating patterns, stack them one on top of another and cut 3 3/4 x 5. On the short side cut at 2 1/2″, then cut that strip on the long side at 2 1/4″. And the remaining uncut strip that is now 1 3/4 x 5, cut it at 3 1/4″, leaving two sizes: 1 1/4 x 1 3/4 and 1 1/4 x 3 3/4. Keep papers in appropriate stacks. Cut four different coordinating card stocks 4 x 5 1/4. Begin laying out the DSP patterns by placing all of the top pieces from the same pattern on each of the four cardstock panels – using the cards above as a guide. None of the designer series papers that I chose are directional, so it didn’t matter where they were placed. If any your patterns are directional, that will make a difference. Continue each pattern of DSP until all are distributed. Adhere to cardstock with adhesive of choice, then add to card base with dimensionals.

Besides the Take A Bow 6×6 DSP, here are the various supplies needed for each card:

Card 1 -Something Fancy Dies, Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon in White, Greetings of the Season stamp set, Christmas Friends stamp set on the inside, Real Red ink and Granny Apple Green + Garden Green ink, Adhesive Backed Berries.

Card 2 – Nested Essentials Dies, Greetings of the Season for sentiments, Christmas Friends (mouse) and to color the mouse, Stampin’ Blends Real Red and Granny Apple Green, Adhesive Backed Berries, and inks Real Red and Garden Green.

Card 3 – Greetings of the Season Bundle, Natural Tones Linen Thread in Garden Green, Adhesive Backed Berries and inks Real Red and Granny Apple Green.

Card 4 – Greetings of the Season Bundle, Christmas Friends stamp set, (mouse)and Stampin Blends Real Red and Granny Apple Green for the mouse, Red & White Baker’s Twine, Adhesive Backed Berries.

Stampin’ Up! Iconic Celebrations Suite Holiday Card

Good morning! It’s been hot & steamy this week and yesterday buckets of rain with more due today – all remnants of Hurricane Beryl. So what to do – make a card that reminds us of cool :O) The iconic Imagery bundle has several themes: leaves (fall), snowflakes (winter), stars & hearts & candles, and various sentiments – grateful (Thanksgiving), celebrate (birthday or anniversary or special holiday (Christmas, New Years). And the dies include several banner dies, snowflake, leaves, stars, hearts & trees.

Stampin' Up! Iconic Celebrations Holiday card front

I’ve used one of the Cherry Cobbler papers in the Iconic Celebrations 6×6 DSP pack to create a background for the gorgeous banner die that I used for the word ‘celebrate’ – all from this suite of products.

The card base is Mossy Meadow 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 with the fold at the top. I cut a Basic White panel and layered it with the Iconic Celebrations 6×6 DSP and adhered this to the card front with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Iconic Imagery stamp set and stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and die cut with Iconic Imagery Dies. I cut a 3/4″ strip of Mossy Meadow and adhered that directly to the banner, added dimensionals and adhered this in place. From one of the Iconic Celebrations 6×6 DSP papers, I die cut several of these cute trees – yep, directly from the DSP! I added a mini dimensional on the back near the top of the tree and liquid glue at the bottom of the tree and added this to the banner and card front. I colored a Rhinestone Basic Jewel with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends and set it aside to dry while adding Pecan Pie & Clear Ribbon Adhesive-Backed Dots to the banner (from the suite!). With the Rhinestone dry, I added it to the top of the tree. I cut three short lengths of White 3/8″ Frayed Grosgrain ribbon, trimmed the ends as you see them and tucked them in behind the banner and beside the tree, then also in the lower left corner adhering in place with glue dots. With Linen Thread I tied three bows and pushed them under the banner, adhering them in place with a glue dot. What’s kinda fun – I used every product from this suite for this card :O) Finis for the front!

Remember those extra trees I die cut from the Iconic Celebrations 6×6 DSP? Here are three more, adhered directly to a Basic White panel for the inside of the card. :O)

And here’s the last tree I die cut – on the envelope front! And the Iconic Celebrations 6×6 DSP from which I die cut the tree – a piece adhered to the flap, pulling the whole card together. This would be a card that could be used for a birthday during the winter holidays – or for a Christmas card – just add an appropriate sentiment. And – it could be a masculine card.

Stampin’ Up! Charming Duck Pond for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Today we have a theme challenge titled ‘birds’ and I have chosen to use the Charming Duck Pond bundle & it’s coordinating Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP – and made another front flap fun fold :O) For my birds – I chose to use these sweet ducks.

Oh my goodness – such a cute array of stamps and dies in this bundle. I especially like the dies! So let me explain how I did this card.

The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in Pretty Peacock. I layered it with a panel of 4 x 5 1/4 Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP. I cut another piece of Pretty Peacock card stock 3 x 8 1/2 and scored it at 4 1/4. This was adhered to the card base front with the fold at the top and centered – this is the front flap fold. I decorated this first with another piece of Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP in the same pattern as the card front, cut 2 3/4 x 4 and adhered it in place. From a Basic White panel 4 x 3 3/4 I centered this stunning circle die that cuts & embosses the fun design. It has cattails and reeds and lily pads – perhaps you can see the embossing on the cattails from this die. I created another die cut with Granny Apple Green card stock 1 x 3 for additional lily pads – and a scrap of Pretty Peacock for one more lily pad – and a flower in Pretty in Pink card stock. I layered these in place with liquid glue. The additional reed and cattails were die cut from another piece of the Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP and adhered these also with liquid glue. I took yet another piece to showcase these adorable ducks & cut this 3 7/8 x 3 5/8 and adhered it to the back of the Basic White die cut. These I added to another piece of Pretty Peacock cut 4 1/8 x 3 7/8 and adhered this to the front flap. For a sentiment… I used the Labeled with Love Punch and Pretty Peacock to create the sentiment banner. I cleaned the piece with the embossing buddy then stamped the sentiment in VersaMark ink, then sprinkled with embossing powder over it and heat set with the heat tool. I punched another banner from basic White and adhered it to the back, trimmed the one end so as not to cover mamma duck and adhered it in place with liquid glue. As a final touch I added three Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins and the card front was complete.

For the inside I took a piece of basic White 2 3/4 x 4 and added a strip of Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP, then attached this to the inside of the flap. Done!

Stampin' Up! Charming Duck Pond card & envelope back

The envelope back has a piece of Lily Pond Lane 6×6 DSP adhered & trimmed to fit. The envelope front is stamped with two images from Charming Duck Pond stamp set in Memento ink, then colored with other stamps in the set: the duck… beak & feet with Pretty in Pink ink, body in Gray Granite ink, tail feathers in Pretty Peacock ink; the frog… body in Granny Apple Green ink and the lily pad in Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends. What a fun set! Hope you enjoy this card.

Stampin’ Up! Fun Fold for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop

We have a fun fold challenge for this Tuesday team blog hop and I’m using several of the new ONLINE EXCLUSIVE products from the Season of Green & Gold Suite Collection. Let’s take a peek.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold Easy Flap Fun Fold card front

This card is called a Front Flap Fun Fold.n I did a bit of die cutting using the Golden Greenery Dies and Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper (better known as SDSP) and the Graceful Greenery Vellum. The bells are die cut from the SDSP and the wonderful fronds from the vellum.

Card instructions:

Card base is Mossy Meadow 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Layer a panel of SDSP (here I used the Season of Green & Gold SDSP, plaid pattern), attaching with adhesive.
Cut a 3 x 8 1/2 Mossy Meadow piece and score at 4 1/4: attach to center of card, with fold at top of card base.
Cut 2 panels of Basic White 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 & decorate
- Front panel of Basic White
  - I cut two Garden Green fronds and one Old Olive frond from the Graceful Greenery Vellum and adhered to one of the Basic White panels, centering them at top
  - I die cut the single bells from the Season of Green & Gold SDSP, adhered them together then added them over the fronds with dimensionals
  - I added a double Linen Thread bow to the top of the bells with a glue dot.
  - Stamp the sentiment and ampersand sign in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Greetings of the Season stamp set (this also comes as a bundle – with dies – but I did not use those for this card)
  - Embellish with several Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems
  - Adhere this panel to the folded Mossy Meadow
- Inside panel of Basic White
  - Stamp the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink using the Greetings of the Season stamp set
  - Stamp the fronds detail stamp in stamped off once Mossy Meadow ink
  - Stamp the fronds full stamp in stamped off twice Mossy Meadow ink
  - Add panel to inside of flap card panel – and done!

Now for the envelope… cover the flap in a piece of the Season of Green & Gold SDSP and trim to fit. On the envelope front, stamp a different detail front in stamped off once Old Olive ink. Stamp the full frond in stamped off twice Old Olive ink – and this card is ready for that Christmas card pile.

Stampin’ Up! Changing Leaves Thinking of You

Hello folks. It’s really, really hot here in New Jersey. I’ve chosen a card today that will remind me of cooler weather (hope, hope). It’s the Changing Leaves bundle in the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES of Stampin’ Up! I’ve used Granny Apple Green and a Blending Brush to create some variation to the card.

First thing I did was run a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock through the Changing Leaves Hybrid 3D Embossing Folder with the large die in place. This embosses the image & die cuts at the same time. After removing the die cuts, I trimmed along one side, creating a ‘edge’ of leaves that I cut with my paper snips. I used the Granny Apple Green ink and Blending Brush to add color to some of the edges of the leaves. I then turned it over and laid it on a Basic White panel 4 x 5 1/4 and added color to the Basic White – both along the edge of the paper snip trimmed leaves and along the edges of the paper. I turned this back right side up, placed it again on the same Basic White panel and with a lighter touch of the Blending Brush, added more Granny Apple Green. This kind of color layering creates shadow-like effects that show depth.

Next step was to stamp the lovely leaf stamp in Granny Apple Green ink – first time full strength, then stamp again without re-inking, and do the same one more time.. That last one is really hard to see, but it’s in the upper right corner.

I added a strip of Brights 6×6 DSP in Granny Apple Green to the portion of the Granny Apple Green card stock that was not in the embossing folder,, put this whole piece on dimensionals and added it to the stamped and colored Basic White piece. This was added to a Thick Basic White card base 8 1/2 x 5 12 scored at 4 1/4. Because I had in mind using this for a sympathy card, I pulled out Sketched Butterflies stamp set for the sentiment – Thinking of You – and stamped it in Memento Ink. I die cut this with the circle die from Changing Leaves Dies. I used Seal+ to adhere the ribbon on the back of the circle, then added dimensionals and attached it to the card front. The Ribbon is Black & Very Vanilla Ribbon. I toyed with adding embellishments but didn’t really like anything.

With the card front complete I cut a remainder strip of the embossed Granny Apple Green piece (from the Changing Leaves Hybrid Embossing Folder) and added it to a 4 x 5n12 Basic White piece. I die cut another leaf in Basic White and adhered it with liquid glue. This leaf is a die cut from Changing Leaves Dies.

For the envelope… more Brights 6×6 DSP for the flap, trimmed to fit, and a stamped off once leaf for the card front – of course from the Changing Leaves stamp set and Granny Apple Green ink.

Stampin’ Up! Season of Green & Gold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

We have a fun sketch challenge today and I’m sharing a sneak peek of new DSP that’s part of the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES and a suite of products: Season of Green & Gold 12×12 SDSP, Greetings of the Season stamp set (it’s a bundle really, but I only used the stamp set), and Golden Greenery stamp set (also a bundle but only used the stamp set for this card.)

This DSP is gorgeous – and I used the Basic Borders Dies for the fun accent trim. The final touch was adding Pecan Pie Ribboned Adhesive-Backed Dots. To create this card…the card base is Garden Green card stock cut 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4. I added a piece of the Season of Green & Gold SDSP cut 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered directly to the card base. I turned this same SDSP over to the other side and cut a piece 2 1/2 x 3, then trimmed it at an angle. I adhered only the far left corner to the card front. With the Basic Border dies and a strip of Old Olive 3/4 x 5, I cut a trim piece, then adhered that to a piece of Very Vanilla 1 x 5, then slipped it under the corner piece, adhering it in place. After all was adhered in place, I trimmed the overlapping Basic Border trims. I then added three embellishments in Pecan Pie from the Pecan Pie and Clear Ribboned Adhesive-Backed Dots.

For the inside, I cut a Very Vanilla panel 4 x 5 1/4 and stamped it in Garden Green ink with the Greetings of the Season sentiment stamp. I added a strip of Basic Border die cut in Garden Green to coordinate with the card front.

For the envelope, I added a piece of the Season of Green & Gold 12×12 SDSP to the envelope flap then stamped the front of the envelope using the Golden Greenery stamp set and the pine bough stamp – first in Old Olive ink, then the detail pine bough in Mossy Meadow ink. And WooHoo, first holiday card!

Now, just have to say… I had unfinished elements of a card on my desk (anyone else have that?) and decided to use the pieces to follow the sketch. This card uses some retired SU! products but also uses a current bundle called Stippled Roses. The roses were stamped in Smoky Slate ink and colored with Blending Brushes and several inks: Pretty in Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, and Old Olive. After coloring I used Wink of Stella to add glam to all the dark lines of the design. The leaf die cuts are from Old Olive card stock. The embellishments are Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins – another ONLINE EXCLUSIVE. The card base is Thick Basic White. The additional layers are Smoky Slate and a retired free DSP the name of which I do not remember. On the inside of the card is stamped the gorgeous leaves from Stippled Roses stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink. I will add shopping information for this card as well, but separately. My main purpose is to share how using a sketch can bring a different level of creativity depending on the stamps/ dies/ and other elements used. Hope you enjoyed this bit of ‘extra’.

Stampin’ Up! w/ Thoughtful Journey DSP & Emboss Resist

Good morning, good morning! It’s cool this AM – 57 – after a couple of days of 100% humidity and 87 temps. This feels much more refreshing :O) Thursday was my card class and we did a window z-fold card, similar to what I posted a week or so ago, which you see here. I’m hooked on this style card – just sayin’. I needed a couple of cards – thank you and another for a friend recovering from surgery – and here’s what I did.

I really like the colors of the thank you card with the Misty Moonlight card base than the other card. However, when making a card for a specific person, and the card on the right was, we follow what would be best for them. The card cuts and basic directions are the same for both cards. The main difference is the inside on the second card using the emboss resist technique. The Stitched Shapes Dies were used for the circles and the banner die cuts.

I stamped the partial image of these flowers in VersaMark ink using the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set – re-inking and stamping across the bottom five times. I sprinkled white embossing powder over the image, heat embossed with the heat tool and let it cool for a bit. Once cool, I took a Blending Brush and Boho Blue ink and with swirling/ circling strokes went over the stamped images. Here’s a close-up.

I love this effect and it mimics the Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP. I stamped the sentiments in Fresh Freesia ink using the Unbounded Love stamp set.

Here’s the inside of the ‘thanks’ card.

On this card I stamped the partial image in Wild Wheat ink, mimicking the image on the front of this card. I used a Blending Brush and Misty Moonlight ink to add color over this.

After stamping the image on the inside of the card and not really ‘sold’ on the image, I looked over my stamps and found another image I liked better to use on the envelope front. I stamped it in Whisper White ink then heat set it since it is a pigment ink and takes a bit to dry. I then used that same Blending Brush that I had used on the inside with Misty Moonlight ink and colored over the image. In person, the image is obvious – in the photo it is not. The stamp set used for that was the Charming Ducks stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! Frames & Flowers Sympathy Card

Frames & Flowers 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper is simply gorgeous – soft colors, leaf & flower themed, the pack of papers includes die cut images as well. This paper may be found on page 29 in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. To make today’s card, I used several of the die cuts, You are Beautiful stamp set and the Hope You Know stamp set for the sentiments. The card base is Lost Lagoon cut 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored @ 4 1/4 with a layer of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4.

I began by adhering the frame die cut from the pack of Frames & Flowers 12 x 12 DSP onto a basic White panel. I stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink using the Hope You Know stamp set. I added a couple of die cuts from the DSP pack attaching them with dimensionals: the leaves in the lower right and the flower & leaves corner die cut. I added Wink of Stella to the several of the darkest leaves on the lower left and on the flowers of the corner die cut. This doesn’t show in the photo, but in person it adds a beautiful touch of elegance.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink using the Hope You Know stamp set. The leaf image is another of the die cuts from the Frames & Flowers 12 x 12 DSP pack, and was adhered with dabs of liquid glue. And yes, I added Wink of Stella to several of the leaves here as well.

For the Basic White envelope I stamped the leaf images using the You are Beautiful stamp set and Lost Lagoon ink. This is a ‘distinctive’ stamp set, meaning when the images are stamped there is depth. Notice how some of the leaves on the flap are darker than others – that’s what I mean.

Stampin’ Up! Sketched Butterflies Thinking of You card

Good Tuesday morning! I have a sweet thinking of you card today using the awesome Sketched Butterflies stamp & die bundle. Stampin' Up! Sketched Butterflies card front

I like the idea of versatility for a card when I’m not creating for a specific individual – and this card is just that. The card front is layers of Balmy Blue for the card base, then Highland Heather, Basic White and Subtles 6×6 DSP in Balmy Blue. The ‘frame’ for each butterfly comes from the Labeled with Love stamp set, stamped in Memento ink & die cut with it’s coordinating die. On each ‘frame’ is a stamped butterfly from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set. Stamped with Memento ink on a Basic White scrap, the two outside butterflies were colored with Stampin’ Blends: Light Balmy Blue on the body center & inner wings, Light Highland Heather then Light Fresh Freesia on the outer portions of each wing – both adhered with dimensionals to the ‘frame’. The center butterfly has two parts: the same Memento stamped image but stamped on a scrap of Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP and die cut with the butterfly outline die from Sketched Butterfly Dies. The overlay is the intricate die cut from the same scrap of Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP. These two were adhered together in the middle with a dab of liquid glue and a Purple Fine Shimmer Gem was added to it. This was attached to the ‘frame’ with mini dimensionals. I added little doodle dots with my Basic Black Marker on the two outside ‘frames’. Attaching the frames to the card front: I attached the center ‘frame’ first, centering it on the card front, then added the outer two, creating equidistant margins.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Labeled with Love stamp set in Memento ink on a scrap of the Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP and fussy cut it with my paper snips. This was adhered to the Basic White inside panel and that was adhered to a Highland Heather panel and both to the inside of the card. As I’m writing this, a friend is having surgery tomorrow, and since the sentiment is ‘thinking of you’, it will be perfect! But it could also easily be a sympathy card, an ‘in general’ note or a birthday card!

The envelope flap has the very same Subtles 6×6 DSP in Balmy Blue adhered & trimmed to fit. I stamped a different butterfly from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set – in Memento ink – directly on the DSP. On the envelope front is the same butterfly as the flap, stamped in Memento ink and colored as those on the card front: Stampin’ Blends Light Balmy Blue, Light Highland Heather & Light Fresh Freesia. When working on an envelope, remember to slip a card scrap inside so the alcohol blends do not bleed through!
