Stampin’ Up! Jan. Paper Pumpkin Fun Fold~Alternative

Hello again! Snow is still on our ground. The neighbor kids were sliding down the hill behind us and WE had such fun watching. They were up and down dozens of times, and played until nearly dark. Ah youth 🤗

On the home front here, I created another Paper Pumpkin Alternative using the January kit called Sending Hearts. I used minimal additional supplies.

Jan. PP Alternative Fun Fold – #1

For the front of the card I used a Floral Heart Die to cut this lacy heart from Basic White card stock. I used a Basic White strip to fussy cut an arrow. Both were adhered with liquid glue. I then colored the sentiment from the kit with a Petal Pink Stampin Blend and adhered it with dimensionals.

Jan. PP Alternative Fun Fold n- #2

I have no idea what this fold is called, I just knew I wanted to try it! The inside is one of the kits card bases, trimmed 1/8″ on the long side and scored one inch on either side of the center fold. The center fold becomes the mountain and the other two the valley folds. Adhere one side first; close card and adhere other side ~ both done with liquid glue. I stamped the very cute snail in Memento Black ink and colored him with Light Smoky Slate Stampin Blends, then covered that with Wink of Stella. I also stamped the sentiment with the same Memento Black ink.

The center heart is one provided in the kit cut down to 3 x 3 1/4. I stamped the hearts from the stamp in the kit using Petal Pink ink, then covered all the solid hearts in Wink of Stella to give it a bit of glam. I colored one of the resin hearts from the kit using Poppy Parade Stampin Blends, added it to the upper right corner over one of the hearts. I then colored the Whisper White Crinkled Ribbon with Poppy Parade Stampin Blends, tied it in a bow and adhered with a glue dot. I mounted the panel on Poppy Parade 3 x 3 3/8 with liquid glue and it was ready to go into the card. It was mounted using liquid glue in the center of the card. And voila!

Jan PP Alternative Fun Fold #3

On the envelope I stamped the XOXO in Memento black ink and called the card done…. Love it when something comes together ~ and most of it from the monthly kit!!!

A couple of things to remember when using this kind of fold… The center panel must be no taller than the dimension from the fold to the edge of the DSP on the bottom of the card – or it will stick out beyond the top of the card… ask me how I know that!

Stampin’ Up! Jan. Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

We got snow last night! Woohoo! I happen to like snow, so I enjoy it. This snow is pretty wet though. It’s a snow/ rain/ sleet mix, so kind of a funny snow. Fortunately we don’t have to be out driving around in it!

Today I have been playing with the January Sending Hearts Paper Pumpkin kit and have so far created three alternatives. Here they are…

The only thing you really need to know is I trimmed the heart piece so it was a 3 1/4″ square. Other than that, I think you can easily figure what I did by just looking at the pictures. Here are the products I used in addition to the items in the kit.

  • Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo pack – gold cord
  • Shimmer Ribbon in Gray Granite
  • Smoky Slate card stock and Stampin Blends
  • Basic Black card stock & Tuxedo Black Memento ink
  • Petal Pink card stock, ink and Stampin Blends
  • Poppy Parade Stampin Blends
  • Wink of Stella
  • Basic Whiter card stock.

Stampin’ Up! Angled Pop-Up

Hello… it’s Saturday… big plans this weekend? I have a couple of folks coming for an ‘in person’ class: masked, physically distanced and other restrictions. As long as I keep these small and folks adhere to the guidelines, I feel it’s worthwhile and working. Other than that, it’s pretty quiet here: snow is due to begin tomorrow night and into Monday. We really haven’t had any to speak of, at least none to stick or stay., so I’m looking forward to it. :O)

What I have in the way of a card today uses the Lots of Heart bundle, which includes the Many Hearts Dies. It is an AMAZING bundle and another first with my playing seriously with it. My directions will be limited… cuz you really need to check a video by demonstrator Dawn Griffith. But I’ll give you card cuts and some tips to help.

Angle Pop-Up w/ Lots of Heart – #1

Isn’t this pretty? Sahara Sand mixes so nicely with Basic White. It mixes with other colors too but this is what I wanted to use. I began with Thick Basic White card stock for the card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). I then cut 2 panels of Sahara Sand card stock (4 x 5 1/4) and ran them through the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I also made sure I had a panel of Basic White card stock for the inside of the card (4 x 5 1/4) and some extra Basic White pieces (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) for the die cuts. Preparing everything ahead makes putting the card together pretty easy. Die cut the two hearts for the front of the card from the same panel of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Basic White card stock. Die cut a heart from Love You Always Specialty DSP in Sahara Sand. Adhere the delicate heart die cut piece from the Basic White to the DSP heart with liquid glue. Adhere this to the scalloped heart with dimensionals and set aside.

Now let’s make a template 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. From the top left corner, measure on the long side 3 1/2″ and mark. From the same top left corner, measure on the short side 2 3/4″ and mark. Now draw a diagonal line connecting the two marks and cut along the line. Label the triangle as shown below. Your template should look like this:

Angle card template
  • Using repositionable seal, cover the small triangle on both sides. REPOSITIONABLE seal is key! (Stampin’ Up! does not currently have this product.)
  • Lay your card base on the table in the closed position with the fold at the top. Place the triangle with the template label facing up and the repositionable seal on the upper left corner and with your bone folder, score along the diagonal line.
  • Remove the triangle and turn the card base over, keeping the fold at the top.
  • Turn the triangle over so the writing is against the card stock and place in the upper right corner. Score as on the other side. Remove triangle. Burnish the fold lines. It should look like this:
Burnished & folded score lines
  • Now it is time to trim the card stock panels for adhering to the card. Let’s begin with the embossed piece for the front….
    • Using the triangle, place it on the embossed panel on the left corner with the long edge of the triangle along the long edge of the panel. Side edge and top edge must be even. Cut along the diagonal line, removing the corner. Discard this corner. Adhere the panel to the card front.
    • The heart is ready for placement on the front left corner… make certain it is not above the fold line of the card stock (this will allow the card to fit in a standard envelope).
      adhere with liquid glue.
    • Make a double bow using the 1/4″ Crinkled Ribbon in Whisper White and adhere with a glue dot. Your card front is complete – hip hip hooray!

For the inside…

Remember you embossed a second panel of Sahara Sand 4 x 5 1/4… place the re-positionable triangle in the lower left corner with the long side of the triangle on the long side of the embossed panel. Cut along the diagonal… RESERVE THE TRIANGLE! Adhere the large panel to the top inside of the card with liquid glue.

Now prepare the lower panel of basic White (4 x 5 1/4)…

  • Lay the re-positionable triangle on the top left corner just as you did the front embossed panel. Cut along the diagonal… RESERVE THE TRIANGLE! Adhere the large panel to the bottom of the card with liquid glue.
  • Take both reserved triangles and lay together, the embossed piece right side up, the Basic White panel against it, matching all the edges. Trim off 1/2″ ON THE SHORT SIDE OF BOTH TRIANGLES…. this can be done by placing the triangles at the bottom of your trimmer with the long side against the edge of the trimmer.
  • Adhere the triangles to the appropriate corners with liquid glue. You are almost done and it’s gorgeous already! See photo above…

Prepare the heart for the inside of the card by using the plaid heart in the Lots of Heart stamp set… stamp on a Basic White panel with Shara Sand ink and die cut with the appropriate heart die in the Many Hearts Dies. I die cut the heart border and adhered it with liquid glue. Die cut a tiny heart using Cherry Cobbler card stock and cover with Wink of Stella. Adhere to the stamped heart with a mini glue dot. Adhere this to the inside of the card, making certain it does not block the closing of the card. MAKE CERTAIN THE WINK OF STELLA IS THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE CLOSING THE CARD! (ask me how I know that 🥴)

To embellish the bottom of the card…

  • With Sahara Sand card stock, cut the ‘bubble’ for the word love using the Always Dies. Die cut the word itself in Basic White card stock and adhere to the bubble with liquid glue.
  • Die cut the word ‘you” with Sahara Sand card stock using the Well Wishes framelits.
  • Die cut the sweet scrolly hearts with Basic White card stock using the Many Hearts Dies. I only used two of the scrolly hearts but die cut the whole strip so I could use them later.
  • Determine placement for these three pieces: word ‘love’, word ‘you’, and scolly hearts and adhere with liquid glue and your card is complete!!!

Not so hard, was it? You do have to pay attention to the triangle cutting, but really, not a difficult card.

The envelope… Cover the envelope flap with the Love You Always Specialty DSP, trim to fit. For the front of the envelope, it would be nice to add more of the scrolly hearts. I didn’t think of it until just now, so since I have them left over, I probably will.

This could so easily be a wedding or anniversary card. I would add two hearts to the card front if that were the case. This however is going to … oh I almost said who! Can’t do that – they read the posts… 😊

Stampin’ Up! Floral Heart Dies, Part II

The other day I posted a card using the center heart from the Floral Heart Dies. Todays card features the beautiful ‘rim’ that is just stunning.

I began by die cutting this beauty from Blushing Bride card stock. Then on a piece of Basic White scrap about 1 1/2″ wide by about 4″ in length, I used Stampin Blends Just Jade and Flirty Flamingo to color opposing ends of the strip. Use both light & dark to blend together nicely – no sharp lines. From the Flirty Flamingo end, die cut the three flowers in one die from the Floral Heart Dies. On the Just Jade end of the paper, die cut the four leaves in one die, also from the Floral Heart Dies.

Example of coloring with Blends for die cutting

Next, stamp the single flowers in Crumb Cake ink on a strip of Basic White card stock and color using the Flirty Flamingo Blends. Do this twice so you have six flowers available to play. It’s always advisable to have more to use in lieu of stopping and creating more. TIP: If you don’t use them all, save in either the stamp set or with the appropriate dies. I then added Wink of Stella to all the flowers.

Stamp the leaves in Crumb Cake ink on another strip of Basic White. Again, stamp extra leaves – maybe a total of five or six. Color using Stampin’ Blends Soft Sea Foam. Die cut with dies from the Floral Heart Dies.

Place your heart on a silicone sheet so that as you adhere the flowers and leaves, the heart does not adhere to other card stock or anything else. I didn’t use all the flowers and leaves as I didn’t want the heart too ‘heavy’. All of the flowers were adhered with liquid glue, some attached behind the heart. once everything is adhered, I moved my heart off the silicone sheet and splattered Wink of Stella all over.

Splattered with Wink of Stella

I placed my heart (without glueing!) on a panel of Basic White card stock, noting just where I wanted my sentiment. Using the Stamparatus for this step is so helpful… I removed the heart and stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink from the Always In Your Heart stamp set. Run the Basic White panel through the Subtle 3D embossing folder for some added texture. Now adhere the heart with liquid glue. I adhered an additional flower & leaf to the lower left corner, adhering with liquid glue. The last step is adding the Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

The Basic White panel is adhered to Flirty Flamingo card stock with liquid glue. Place dimensionals on the back and adhere to a Crumb Cake card base and your card front is complete. Love, love, love how this turned out!

I have not completed the inside of the card yet – waiting to determine just who the special recipient will be. But… definitely a Flirty Flamingo panel layered with a Basic White panel 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Snailed It

Hello folks. It’s Tuesday and we just might get snow today. If I put it in writing, maybe it will happen. I like snow – it’s soft and beautiful, especially if it’s big flakes. There probably won’t be much, b ut a covering is always nice. 🙂

Todays card is made with a bit of whimsy… clotheslines with hearts dangling, and some falling into the cutest little envelope. And of course, as the title indicates, Herb the snail is on a delivery mission.

Snailed It – #1

The base of the card is Thick Basic White. On this is a layer of Pool Party card stock adhered with dimensionals. The top layer is Flirty Flamingo – and should have been embossed. It would give the card so much more character, texture, ‘oompf’ if I had. 😦

  • Die cut hearts came from many sources: Many Hearts Dies (new), Heart to Heart (new), Stitched Be Mine dies and Detailed Hearts dies. I like the varied shapes and sizes, some hollow, some not. It adds charm.
  • With Linen Thread, string on the open hearts and adhere others with liquid glue. The Linen Thread is adhered to the back of the Flirty Flamingo panel with Stampin’ Seal.
  • Die cut this adorable envelope using the Snail Dies. The paper is Sand & Sea DSP (gorgeous, right?!)
  • On a piece of Basic White card stock, stamp the word ‘hello’ from the Snailed It stamp set in Memento Black ink, then die cut with one of the Snail Dies.
  • On another piece of Basic White card stock, stamp “Herb the snail” from the Snailed It stamp set in Memento Black ink. Color him with several Blends: Bermuda Bay & Pool Party, Petal Pink & Light Lovely Lipstick for the packages and Smoky Slate for Mr Herb. Carefully add Wink of Stella to Herb & the packages, not blending the colors into one another (otherwise they smear – and you don’t want that!).
  • Adhere Herb with dimensionals, the envelope with liquid glue, then add the additional hearts, as though they are falling from the clotheslines. I layered a couple of them. and one is on dimensionals with a cute pink heart from the Sending Hearts Paper Pumpkin kit!
  • For a final touch of glam, add three Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
  • Adhere the Flirty Flamingo panel to the Pool Party with liquid glue and your card front is complete.
Snailed It w/ Heart To Heart – #2

For the inside… Adhere a panel of Pool Party to the inside of the card. with liquid glue. Note just where you want your ‘frame’ and stamp the leaf from the Heart To Heart Bundle in Granny Apple Green ink. Add one of the leftover die cut hearts for the ‘flower’. Now add the frame panel with liquid glue and your card is complete. Now, I suppose you want to know about that inside panel and where it came from… it’s the border of an Ornate frames die.

For the envelope I veered back to the Snail Mail DSP for the envelope flap, then stamped the ‘Happy Mail’ from the Snailed It stamp set in Memento Black ink. I colored the little envelope in Light Pool Party Blends – and the whole kit & kaboodle is ready to send… I’m using mine as a Valentine card for someone special 🙂
