Stampin’ Up! Wisteria Wishes Fence Card

I have a pretty card for you today, using a retiring stamps and dies. It’s called Wisteria Wishes, but they are made into Lupine instead :O) And I confess (confession is good for the soul), the design is from a demonstrator in Australia, Gail Ellis. We made this in card class Thursday.

Stampin' Up! Retiring Wisteria Wishes
Stampin' Up! Wisteria Wishes card inside.

I’ve used Basic White Thick card stock for the card base, fence posts, flowers & stems. Soft Sea Foam card stock was used for the die cut leaves. Inks were Orchid Oasis and Soft Sea Foam.

Begin with a card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. Remove 4 -5/8 x 5 1/2″ strips from the card front and set aside. Die cut 6 ‘posts’ using the long banner die from the Harvest Dies. These dies and coordinating stamp set, Quiet Meadow, are carrying over to the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog.

Close the card with the short front side facing up. Place a long length of washi tape or something similar, and with the sticky side up, attach in the center of the short front side. The tape should form a sort of ‘T’ when looking at the card front. Lay a 5/8 x 5 1/2″ strip so it aligns with the card back and sticks to the tape. Place two other lengths in between the spacing of the short front and bottom edge of the front. It is helpful to have this card on a grid paper to keep everything straight. Adhere the two outside posts to the ‘fencing’. Once this is done the card will be much more stable. :O) When adhering the posts, I did not use the full length of the post. It should be about 5/8″ up on the card front and about 3/8″ from the edge. Remove the sticky tape and adhere the center post. Turn the card over and adhere three posts on the inside. Cut off the overhanging edges of the ‘posts’. That was the hard part! The rest is pretty easy.

Stamp the set of three wisteria flowers in stamped off Orchid Oasis ink. Stamp the detail stamp in full strength Orchid Oasis ink.. Do this twice so there are two sets of blooms, then die cut with the Wisteria Dies.

Stamp the stems in Soft Sea Foam ink, also twice, and die cut with the appropriate die from Wisteria Dies. Adhere the first set of stems to the far right edge of the card and attach with with liquid glue. Attach one set of blooms with dimensionals overlapping the stems. Use the photo for reference. Adhere the other set of stems with liquid glue. Note placement by referring to the photo. Adhere second set of blooms, also with dimensionals, overlapping as necessary.

Die cut the sentiment banner from Basic White Thick card stock. Stamp the sentiment in Orchid Oasis ink. (The sentiment I chose required me to tape off a portion of the sentiment, ink, remove tape and stamp on the banner.) Adhere banner in place with dimensionals.

Leaves: I die cut three bunches of the leaves from Soft Sea Foam card stock, then used a sponge dauber and Soft Sea Foam ink to darken areas of the leaves. I trimmed down the second bunch of leaves: one branch to fit under the sponged leaves and another to fit on top. Again, refer to photo for placement. I added retiring 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots in Orchid Oasis and the front was complete.

For the inside… on a 4 x 5 1/4 in panel of Basic White, I adhered the third branch of leaves to the far upper right. I wanted to make sure, it would be covered by the largest part of the card front. I stamped the rest of the sentiment in Orchid Oasis ink. Just as before, I taped off what I didn’t want, inked the stamp, removed the tape and stamped on the panel. This was adhered to the inside of the card & voila! Love, love, love!

Stampin’ Up! Cheerful Daisies

Good morning stamping friends. It’s Saturday! The other day I mentioned that my box of goodies had arrived from Stampin’ Up! with fun new products from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. Well, I didn’t know where to begin…. but I was drawn to the daisies. So here we go… Cheerful Daisies Bundle, first play.

Stampin' Up! Cheerful Daisies

The daisies is all one die, until I added layers. :O) But I want you to understand/ know, this is all together. The other thing is, they can be cut apart after die cutting to use individually. Look on page 111 of the new catalog at the coordinating Fresh as a Daisy DSP. This particular paper came from the large sheet with all the individual patterns. The coordinating colors here are Pretty Peacock (a returning color) and Wild Wheat, a new 2023-2025 In Color. This photo makes it look more yellow than it really is, but it’s more of a dark mustard. I’m really liking it.

Here’s the ‘how to’ for this card. I took apart the cover sheet of this DSP, setting aside all the other squares and rectangles cut from the paper. This DSP panel is 4 x 5 1/4. I adhered it to a Basic White piece 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, then onto a Wild Wheat card base just an eensy bit larger. I die cut the large panel of daises from Thick Basic White, then the layers that go on each of the three. I used a sponge dauber to lightly color, using Wild Wheat ink. I then adhered these in place with tiny dabs of liquid glue. I die cut the sentiment banner – yep, part of the dies in the Cheerful daisies Dies, in Wild Wheat and while I was at it die cut the two daisies ‘centers’ also from Wild Wheat. The sentiment I chose is cute, but had extra words I didn’t want to use, so I taped those off, I stamped in VersaMark, removed the tape and stamped on the banner; sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set from the back side. Why the back side? I find it gives a more clear finish and doesn’t blow off any of the little powders.

I added the little die cut ‘circles’ to the backs of the two larger daises. I wanted all the detail to show, but wanted some color behind as well. I added dimensionals to the daisies and adhered them in place. I slipped the banner under one of the daisies and adhered with liquid glue. I added the bow with glue dots using the Simply Elegant Trim in gold. I added three Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems in Lemon Lolly (new color and new gems – available May 2!)

For the inside…. On a Basic White panel I stamped the daisy from Cheerful Daisies stamp set. This is a two-step stamp; the background is stamped off While Wheat; the more detail stamp is full strength Wild Wheat. The center is stamped in Early Espresso ink. I wanted to carry the Pretty Peacock to the inside of the card, so adhered the panel to a slightly larger piece. Now… here’s the really funny part… are you ready?

True confessions: I went to adhere this to the inside of the Wild Wheat card base and realized I had adhered the daisies & banner upside down!!! Now I just have to say – I have never done this before and I was really surprised – AND disappointed. I trimmed the upper portion of the card off and cut it down a bit so it would fit on a Basic White Thick card base. It worked, just not what I had wanted.

Stampin' Up! Cheerful daisies, inside of card

For the envelope… More of the fun Fresh as a Daisy DSP on the flap, trimmed to fit., and the same stamped daisy on the envelope front.

Stampin’ Up! Let’s Set Sail for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

We have a fun theme challenge today for our scheduled weekly hop – outdoors!

Stampin' Up! Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop
Stampin' Up! Hop Challenge
Stampion' Up! Let's Set Sail. hop 4/20

This is a fun fold… hmmm what do we call this? Side fold? I don’t know. but let me tell you how to make this…

The card base is cut 8 1/4 x 4 1/4 and scored on the long side at 5 1/2. I used the new Misty Moonlight for the base. It has just a hint of gray in it. And it’s perfect for a sailing card :O) I cut a panel of the Sun Prints DSP in stripe 2 1/2 x 4 (yep, it’s retiring and I’m trying to use it!). This was adhered to the left front fold. I wrapped a length of Baker’s Twine (carrying over!) from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack in Crumb Cake around it twice and tied a knot, which I adhered with a glue dot right at the knot. For the inside, I added a piece of another design but also from Sun Prints DSP, to the right inside of the card base (4 1/8 x 5 3/8). THEN… I cut Basic White card stock 7 1/4 x 3 1/2 and scored it at 3 5/8. This becomes the right-sided fold that flips over the front left panel of the card base. I stamped the two sentiments in Misty Moonlight ink (new!) from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set (retiring!) I then added this basic white folded piece to the card base, as shown.

Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail fun fold
Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail fun. fold, left side
Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail front image

For the front of that Basic White addition , I added another piece of the Sun Prints DSP (retiring!) to the front of that fold. It was cut 3 3/8 x 3 3/8. Now to decorate that square… Using the Stylish Shapes Dies largest circle, I die cut a piece of the Hues of Happiness DSP (yep, retiring). I stamped the bird image from Let’s Set Sail in Memento ink, then added that circle with dimensionals. Now… the sailboat :O), the boat was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink; the sails were stamped in Crushed Curry ink, then punched with the Sailboat Builder Punch. I added the boat directly to the circle, then attached the sails with mini dimensionals. And guess what, the card was done.

Stampin' Up! Let's Set Sail card & envelope for the Thur hop

For the envelope… more of the Sun Prints DSP on the flap trimmed to fit and another narrow strip added to the bottom of the envelope front. This is yet another great masculine card for my stash – yay!

My demonstrator order of new products arrived from Stampin’ Up! late last night. Somehow it got ‘lost in the shuffle’ and finally arrived. I cannot WAIT TO PLAY!!! What will I play with first? Probably the daisies… I’m a daisy FAN! :O) But who knows?

Time to move on in the hop… click the ‘next’ button to visit Carol, or click on a name if you want to skip around. Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! By the Bay Fun Fold + Designer Series Paper Share Info

Good Wednesday morning! We have beautiful weather temps today, but there is a brush fire somewhere making everything very smoky :O( Ugh. My card today is using a retiring DSP, By the Bay and a carrying over product Something Fancy stamp set & it’s coordinating Something Fancy Dies. And… I’m frustrated… my box of new goodies from Stampin’ Up! is ‘stuck’ somewhere and has yet to be delivered. But this By the Bay is just stunning Designer Series Paper. So let’s take a look at the card ~ and I’ll get past this disappointment.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold

This begins with a Balmy Blue card base 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. With the long side up, remove 2 3/4 of the length. Set that piece aside as it becomes that front extended panel :O) Begin layering… Basic White 2 1/2 x 4 on the front left panel and on the set aside piece (cut 2). Layer on that the By the Bay DSP cut 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 (cut 2). What I did here was use the shell pattern for the front and the reverse side of the DSP for the side panel. I wrapped a length of the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack in Crumb Cake around the front panel and tied a bow. I then die cut a Balmy Blue using the Something Fancy Dies, put dimensionals on it and secured it over the twine. I secured the bow in place with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set on a Basic White piece with Balmy Blue ink and die cut it with the next smaller die from Something Fancy Dies. This was adhered with dimensionals to the Balmy Blue banner. I then took this completed front panel and attached it only on the left side to the left front of the card.

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold, inside

For the inside… I stamped the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set in Balmy Blue ink on the Basic White panel (4 x 5 14), making certain it would not peek out from behind the front flap of the card.. I adhered this in place with my adhesive of choice, green glue. You can certainly use Stamp[in’ Seal if that is your preference. Once in place, I closed the front of the card and added these Balmy Blue Solid Faceted Gems (retiring!)

Stampin' Up! By the Bay Fun Fold card & envelope

On the Envelope… more of the By the Bay DSP on the flap trimmed to fit and the card/ envelope are ready to send. This goes out to my hubby’s sister who is recovering from a stroke. I’m trying to send a card a week so she knows we are thinking of her & giving encouragement. She is such a dear sweet soul!

With the introduction of the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog going LIVE May 2, several items are retiring… from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog AND the Jan-April 2023 Mini Catalog. As so many items are being sold out rapidly, best thing to do is visit my ‘shop’ and see what’s still available. If it’s listed, it’s available. If it isn’t listed, it’s sold out – simple as that. The sale goes to May 1, 2023.

And… here’s my HOST CODE CXR49K4W for ordering any products from the retiring lists or any other items… order from me here and be sure to use my HOST CODE CXR49K4W. Be sure my name is listed as your demonstrator at the top of the page!

When you place an order of $50 or more (before shipping & taxes), you receive from me a SU! item valued up to $10 + Star-Studded Rewards. If your order exceeds $150, do not use my HOST CODE as SU! has it’s own rewards from which you may choose. You will still receive that FREE ITEM from me up to $10 + the Star-Studded Rewards.  And if your order is $50 or more I will also send you my monthly class tutorials. BONUS! :O)
