Stampin’ Up! Trusty Tools for a Graduation Card

Happy Mother’s Day all you readers… You may remember last weekend I attended a convention, a one of my fellow ‘conventioners’ asked for a special graduation card as the graduate is going into auto mechanics. I pulled out Trusty Tools to see what I could do. I also used a couple of other stamp sets.

Stampin' Up! Trusty Tools graduation card

This doesn’t look much like a graduation card, does it? At least not on the front. Here’s what I did though… I pulled out Boho Blue for the card base (school colors are blue and something else, the woman couldn’t remember) … and stamped the front with what looks like parts welded together, stamped in Smoky Slate. It comes from the new & fabulous Adventurous Sky stamp set. Next I die cut this center panel that looks like a peg board from new Textured Metallic Specialty 12×12 Paper. The color is Tungsten. From the Trusty Tools stamp set and coordinating dies, I pulled out items that I thought an auto mechanic would typically use – wrenches bolts, nuts and an oil can. I stamped in Memento ink the adjustable wrench, the other items I simply die cut. The oil can is from Silver Foil Sheets and cut twice, the other being Blueberry Bushel. I trimmed off the blue oil can top and adhered the blue bottom to the silver oil can – for contrast. I put this on dimensionals and added it to the peg board. The one wrench – the non adjustable one – is adhered directly with liquid glue, the adjustable one is on dimensionals. The screw & bolts are attached with glue as well. I added the peg board to the card front with mini dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Trusty Tools, card inside

I began the inside by cutting the toolbox bottom from Country Woods DSP. I adhered the base to the Basic White inside panel then attached the leftover hole centers from the peg board to the holes created by the toolbox bottom die cut. (Clever me!!) Using another piece of the Textured Metallic Specialty Paper in Tungsten, I die cut the handle and added it as well. Then it was – now what??? I pulled out Cap & Gown stamp set and stamped the cap in Memento ink & ‘Class of’ in Blueberry Bushel. I stamped the sentiment on the toolbox using the Trusty Toolbox stamp – again in Blueberry Bushel ink. The numbers (Boho Blue ink) & stars (Blueberry Bushel ink) come from Alphabest stamp set, a retired one. The gold hearts are from it’s coordinating dies.

Stampin' Up! Trusty Tools graduation, card back

Since there was noway to send a written greeting on the inside of the card, I added another piece of Basic White to the back of the card. On it is the sentiment stamped in Blueberry Bushel from the Cap & Gown stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Trusty Tools gradiation card & envelope

For the envelope, I did a simple stamp of the cap in Blueberry Bushel and the diploma in Memento black ink – both from the Cap & Gown stamp set.

The 24-25 Annual Catalog is now live… here’s a link to take you directly to the items available in this catalog. The Trusty Tools bundle is in the encore section. The Adventurous Sky bundle is in the Suites section. The cap & Gown stamp set can be found in the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES. Happy shopping!

Stampin’ Up! Retiring DSP Thank You Cards

HelIo again – it is April 30 – the final day of two catalogs: the Jan-Apr 2024 catalog and the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. decided to share one more card – or 3 – of the same layout, but in retiring papers… These cards use Forever Love 12×12 SDSP and Poetic Expressions DSP. + the Color & Contour bundle. Here they are…

Stampin' Up! Forever Love SDSP Thank you card front
Card 1 w/ Forever Love SDSP
Stampin' Up! Poetic Expressions DSP Thank You card front
Cards 3 & 2 w/ Poetic Expressions DSP

Card 1 uses Pretty Peacock card base and is layered with Forever Love SDSP and Gold Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper, Pretty Peacock Foil Gems and Gold ribbon. I used Stitched Shapes Dies to create the sentiment .

Card 2 uses Thick Basic White for the card base, a layer of Wild Wheat embossed with the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder, then the layers of Poetic Expressions DSP. This card uses the Textured Ribbon in Wild Wheat, the Color & Contour stamp set for the sentiment, die cut with the same Stitched Shapes Dies circle. This was embellished with the 24-26 In Color Shimmer Gems in pink.

Card 3 is so similar… the difference is Wild Wheat card base and embellishments of 23-25 In Color Dots in Wild Wheat. Everything else is the same as card 2.

Stampin' Up! Forever Love & Pretty Peacock thank you card, inside
Card 1, inside
Stampin' Up! Poetic Expressions Thank You Card, inside
Cards 2 & 3 same inside

The inside of the cards are similar as well… a flower stamped then stamped again with a filler stamp w/ second generation ink. On the Pretty Peacock card, I added a layer of the Forever Love SDSP before adhering the inner panel – and of course the flower is stamped with Pretty Peacock ink. The other two cards have no DSP layer for the inside, just the stamped panel in Wild Wheat and second generation ink for the flower ‘filler’.

Card 1, Pretty Peacock
Poetic Expressions DSP Thank You Card
Cards 3 & 2 w/ Poetic Expressions DSP

The envelopes… Pretty Peacock ink was used to stamp the flower on both the envelope flap and the envelope front. On the other two cards I adhered Poetic Expressions DSP to the flap & trimmed to fit and stampoed the flower image in Wild Wheat ink. Finis.

Stampin' Up! Diagonal Split Fun Fold w/ Daisies

Isn’t this pretty? I’m heading to a convention on Thursday and the ‘logo’ is daisies – so what better use of this Delightfully Eclectic DSP and Scalloped Contour Dies? and this fun fold is so quick & easy.

  • Directions
    • * Cut card base – here it is Thick Basic White – 4 1/4 x 10 1/4, score at 5 1/2
    • * Cut Designer Series Paper – Delightfully Eclectic DSP – 4 1/4 x 4 34 and adhere to card front
    • * While this is drying, cut additional pieces of DSP 2 5/8 x 3 15/16 + 2 1/4 x 6 (envelope flap)
    • * Place card front in Paper Trimmer and cut on the diagonal. For my measurements I used 1 1/4 on left upper corner and about 1 1/2 on right lower corner.
    • * Using Basic White card stock and the 2nd largest of the Scalloped Contour Dies, create the scalloped piece. Adhere the small panel(2 5/8 x 3 15/16) of DSP to it’s center. Add dimensionals to the back of this panel, both top & bottom.
    • * Add this panel to the closed card front – top portion only! Remember the cut diagonal removed the bottom :O) It will be about 1/2″ from top of fold and about 5/8″ from each side.
    • * With the card closed, slip the bottom diagonal piece under the scalloped die cut, making it even with the inside of the card bottom & sides. Remove backing on remaining dimensionals and close card.
    • * Using the Sweetly scripted stamp set, Tuxedo Black Memento ink and a 4 1/4 x 1″ strip of Basic White, stamp the preferred sentiment. Add dimensionals to each end and adhere over the die cut panel

Stampin' Up! Diagonal Split card inside

On the inside of the card… on a Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 panel and using the daisy outline stamp from Color & Contour stamp set, stamp in Petal Pink both in the upper right corner and lower left. Now stamp the ‘fill’ image of the flower in stamped off Petal Pink – this is called second generation stamping. Add the panel to the inside of the card – and done! I created at least 3 of these, just like this, then did two others using the Subtles 6×6 DSP in Petal Pink to cover the card front, yet continued with the Delightfully Eclectic Daisy DSP on the Scalloped Contour Die.

Stampin' Up! Diagonal Split Front Fold w/ Scalloped Contour Dies

For the envelope, I used another piece of the Delightfully Eclectic DSP to cover the envelope flap and trimmed it to fit. On the envelope front, I did the same daisy stamp from Color & Contour stamp set with Petal Pink ink. I did the same for all five cards.

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper Gatefold Card

Good morning.! I’ve been on a ‘kick’ lately about using more of my retiring Designer Series Paper – and I’m happy to say I’m making progress. Of course, in doing that I haven’t been showcasing new items as much as perhaps I should. Having said that, know you can use current DSP & die cuts to your hearts delight -:O)

Stampin' Up! DSP Gatefold Card

This card uses Masterfully Made DSP, which is very colorful and abstract -gives the idea of torn edges. This particular paper has Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry – at least on this card. Here are the deets…

The card base is 4 x 5 1/2 and I used Berry Burst as there is so much of this wonderful color in this particular portion of the DSP. I cut the Designer Series Paper 5 1/4 x 12 and scored it @ 2, 4, 8 & 10. On each short end mark the center (2 5/8) and trim from the score line to the mark, saving that piece to adhere to the front. Fold along score lines mountain, valley, valley, mountain. Adhere this to the card base.

Now it’s time to decorate… I used the Stitched Shapes Dies to cut a circle from Basic White, then pulled out the Gorgeously Made stamp set (retiring April 30) and stamped images on the circle: the wording in stamped off once Crushed Curry and the lines in Pumpkin Pie, full strength. While this stamp set was on my table, I stamped the same lines image on a piece of Basic White 43 3/4 x 5 across the bottom in Pumpkin Pie ink. I die cut this stunning open leaf from Basic White using the Artistic Dies (also retiring April 30. And now, ready to put together… I closed the card with folds intact and noted where to place the circle so it would be centered on the card front. NOTE>>> when attaching with dimensionals, it’s only on the one side. Remove backing on the dimensionals and add. With the card in the closed position again, add the large leaf die cut with dabs of liquid glue along the stem and tips of leaves – just where it will attach to the circle.Add three Berry Burst dots from the Glossy Dots Assortment – carrying over to the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog! Now add the Basic White stamped panel to the inside of the card – and ready!

Stampin' Up! DSP Gatefold card, inside

Envelope.. Cut another piece of DSP 2 1/4 x 6 and adhere to the envelope flap, trim to fit. Across the front of the envelope, stamp the lines image along the bottom. With no sentiments on this card, it can be sent for just about any reason at all… to a man or a woman. Perfect for your stash! and you can add a sentiment to the inside if you need to, when the time comes.

Stampin' Up! DSP Gatefold card & envelope

A couple of things to remember: this DSP, the Gorgeously Made Bundle and the Artistic Dies are all retiring end of day April 30 – so if you want to get them, do so ASAP in the Last Chance Products.

Stampin’ Up! JuniorLegal Pad Notebook w/ Masterfully Made DSP & Thoughtful Expressions Bundle

Yesterday was a very successful working outside kind of day! 77 degrees and dry leaves that could easily picked up, some Easter bulbs planted and yard furniture taken out from shed. Whew! To say the least, just a bit sore today :O)

I like notebooks and have a few notepads on shelves and in convenient places – and decided to make some fun covers for them – they are nice notepads – and give as gifts. Here’s my first.

Stampin' Up! Masterfully Made DSP & Thoughtful Expressions bundle, notepad cover

This is such pretty Designer Series paper! I love the colors, wonderfully paired Lost Lagoon, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist. Yummy. And the belly band is made with Pretty Peacock. The base of the notebook is the white backing for the DSP – you know the one with name of DSP and color coordinations. It is cut 10 3/4 x 8 1/4 scored at 5 1/4 & 5 1/2. I rounded the corners but you wouldn’t have to do that. The front DSP mat is 5 1/8 x I 8 1/8.

Stampin' Up! Masterfully Made DSP, notepad cover w/o belly band

And here are inside and back photos.

Stampin' Up! Masterfully Made DSP
 notebook, back side.

Just to explain the inside a bit: in photo with the butterfly (butterfly is a Paper Pumpkin add-on called Thanks & Beyond Dies) – that is a pocket for extraneous notes (3 7/8 x 5) with a full liner of Pretty Peacock 5 1/8 x 8 1/8. The second photo above shows another ‘liner’ of Pretty Peacock 5 1/8 x 8 1/8 and the ‘holder’ for the notepad 1 1/4 x 12 – also from the backing of the DSP. I wrapped it around the heavy piece of the back of the notepad, adhered the ends together, removed it from the notepad and adhered it to the notebook with the smooth side up. This allows for replacement of a Junior Legal notepad at any time. The last photo is another panel of Masterfully Made DSP 5 1/8 x 8 1/8 adhered to the notepad base.

The belly band… 1 1/4 x 12 Pretty Peacock covered with a strip of Masterfully Made DSP 1 1/8 x 12. Wrap loosely around closed notepad and adhere ends together in front with Tear n’ Tape. Decorate: Using the Thoughtful Expressions Dies, I die cut two pieces for the label – Lost Lagoon and Lemon Lime Twist and adhered together with liquid glue. I stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Wishes stamp set in Pretty Peacock ink and added several dimensionals to the back. With the belly band in place on the notebook I attached the die cuts to the belly band. With the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set I stamped the floral image on a Basic White piece in Memento ink and colored it with Stampin’ Blends: Berry Burst, Lost Lagoon and Lemon Lime Twist. I die cut the image with the appropriate die from the Thoughtful expressions dies and adhered in place with dimensionals. As a final touch, I added three Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins in Berry Burst – an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE.

The Masterfully Made DSP retires at the end of April as the 23-24 annual catalog sadly ends. It is still available, but not for long! Click the Last Chance photo to take you directly to the shop!

Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Wishes & 24-26 In Color 6×6

Good Friday morning! The wind & rain pummeled our house last night, waking me. Hubby slept right through it! My card for today uses a couple of new products from the 24-25 Annual catalog: Pretty In Pink card stock & ink, 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP, White Diagonal Trim (from the Petal Pink & White Diagonal Trim Combo Pack), 24-26 In Color Shimmer Gems and Thoughtful Wishes bundle – all available May 1!!! It It also includes a retiring Playing In The Rain stamp set (moving to ONLINE EXCLUSIVE) and Deckled Rectangle dies, also from the ONLINE shop.

Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Wishes & 24-26 In Color 6x6 card front

I adhered the 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 piece of 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP to a Basic White 4 x 5 1/4, put dimensionals on the back and attached to a Pretty In Pink card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2. I stamped the floral stamp from Thoughtful Wishes stamp set in Old Olive ink on a Basic White scrap and die cut it with the coordinating Thoughtful Wishes Dies. With those dies still on my desk, I die cut another in Old Ol;ive card stock and the small flower in Old Olive and Pretty In Pink, trimmed the Pretty In Pink flower off and adhered it to the stem of Old Olive. I adhered the tasll Old Olive die cut directly to the card front, then the floral spray with dimensionals and the small flower with liquid glue.. I stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Wishes in Pretty In Pink ink on a Basic White piece and die cut it with the Deckled Rectangle Dies. I attached a length of the White Diagonal Trim with Stampin’ Seal, then added the sentiment banner with dimensionals on each end. The final touch was tghree 24-26 In Color Shimmer Gems in Pretty In Pink.

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain inside card

For the inside, I wanted something light & fun so pulled out the Playing in the Rain stamp set, stamped the sentiment in Pretty In Pink ink and the flowers in Old Olive ink – all on a Basic White panel. This was adhered directly to the card base.

Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Wishes & 24-26 In Color 6x6 card & envelope

For the envelope, I used the same panel of 24-26 In Color 6×6 DSP and turned it to the other side, adhered it to the flap and trimmed to fit. On the front I used the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set ‘splotch’ stamp and Pretty In Pink ink to stamp – some first generation and others stamped off. This is such a gorgeous shade of pink – love the new 24-26 In Colors!!! If you do not have a 24-25 Annual Catalog, please connect with me & I’ll send one to you ASAP. My regular customers have theirs already.

Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Expressions Sympathy Card

Good Tuesday – day after the solar eclipse! Did you see it? Wasn’t it amazing??? What was interesting to me was how quiet all the birds & animals became – they disappeared and stopped their singing, chirping, playing around. I expected some of that as I had read about it, but that’s different than experiencing it. Just sayin’.

Today’s card features a couple of the LAST CHANCE PRODUCTS that go on sale today, April 9.: Poetic Expressions 12×12 DSP and the Thoughtful Expressions Bundle. Later in this post is a link to the Last Chance Products shopping with me.

Thoughtful Expressions Sympathy card front

I began with die cutting the beautiful Poetic Expressions 12×12 DSP with the largest of the Perennial Postage Dies. I saved the outside rim of the die cut to use on the inside – see that in next photo. I adhered this DSP die cut to Bubble Bath card stock 4 18 x 5 3/8, put dimensionals on the back and attached it to a Wild Wheat card base (8 1/2 x 5 12 scored at 4 1/4). I then stamped the image from Thoughtful Expressions stamp set in Memento Black ink on a Basic White scrap 2 3/8 x 3. I colored this sweet floral image with Stampin’ Blends: Bubble Bath, Daffodil Delight, Lost Lagoon and Light Mossy Meadow, then die cut it with the coordinating die in the Thoughtful Expressions Dies. I pulled out one of the banner dies in Thoughtful Expressions Dies and die cut from Basic White 1 3/4 x 3 1/4. I stamped the sentiment in Memento ink using the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set. I adhered the floral die cut to the sentiment banner with liquid glue then added lots of dimensionals to the back. I set this aside to add a Sheer Ribbon in Bubble Bath (from the Sheer Ribbon Combo Pack) to create a background for the sentiment banner. I added the ribbon with Stampin’ Seal & wove it back & forth, then added the sentiment banner over it to further secure it in place. The final touch was adding the three Iridescent Foil Gems – and the card front was complete.

Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Expressions sympathy card, inside

For the inside… the first step was to adhere the outer rim of the Poetic Expressions DSP, the one die cut with the largest Perennial Postage Dies, to a 4 x 5 1/4 Basic White panel. I then stamped the hummingbird image from Thoughtful Expressions stamp set in Bubble Bath ink. I then stamped the sentiment – also from Thoughtful expressions stamp set – in Memento ink. This panel was added to a
Bubble Bath card stock 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, then to the inside of theWild Wheat card base. Love, love – so feminine – and so perfect for a sympathy card.

Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Expressions Sympathy card & envelope

For the envelope… more of the same Poetic Expressions 12×12 DSP adhered to the flap, then a die cut from the same DSP using one of the Thoughtful Expressions Dies – also added to the envelope front.

Stampin’ Up! Sneakie Peek of Loveliest Trees Thank You Card

Good Sunday morning. It’s SUNNY here this morning – after days of rain AND a 4.8 earthquake – we live in central, east coast New Jersey and earthquakes are not common here, so it was strange to have the whole house shaking! No damage and everyone is ok…

My card today uses a new bundle – Loveliest Trees and it is… well, lovely.

Stampin' Up! Loveliest Tree Thank You card front

The card base is Thick Basic White. The colored card stock layers are Early Espresso (3 3/4 x 4 7/8) and Garden Green (3 5/8 x 4 3/4). The Basic White top panel was embossed after stamping & die cutting the tree image – with what else – Timber 3D Embossing Folder. The grain is going up & down – as a tree grows :O) Unfortunately it doesn’t show well in the photo.

I inked the tree from Loveliest Trees stamp set with Granny Apple Green ink, then with a sponge dauber tapped in Pecan Pie ink on the trunk and a bit of the branches, then stamped it on the Basic White panel and die cut it with the Loveliest Trees die. That’s when I ran the panel through the Timber 3D EF – after adhering the layers together, I attached the tree in the open die on dimensionals. Then all the layers were added to the Thick Basic White card base with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from Loveliest Trees stamp set in Garden Green ink, trimmed the Basic White strip down to 3/8″ x about 2 7/8″, added it to a slightly larger Garden Green strip & attached it as shown with dimensionals near the ends of the strips. With all in place I added three brass birds from the Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds that retire the end of April.

Stampin' Up! Loveliest Trees thank you, inside

For the inside, I stamped this sweet leaf from Loveliest Trees stamp set in Garden Green ink, and stamped it twice more without re-inking. Love how it gives shades of the same color! I adhered this to a Garden Green slightly larger panel then to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Loveliest Trees Thank You card & envelope

For the envelope, I used the same process as the inside of the card – inked the stamp with Garden Green ink, stamped it once then twice more without re-inking. I did the same on the envelope flap – and it’s ready to send!

Just to share, here are two more sample of the stamped image… Granny Apple Green ink for the entire image and Granny Apple Green (stamped off once) with Pecan Pie added by sponge dauber. I rfeally like this second image a lot.
