Stampin’ Up! Happiness Abounds Wedding Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! It is always fun to see what others do with a sketch challenge ~ what would you create? I would love to see what you would do with the below challenge: share it with me, would you?

It’s close to that TGIF day and I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. As for me, I head out today to attend a convention IN PERSON… which, due to the pandemic, we haven’t been able to do for two years! It seems forever since we have been together ~ and it has. I return Sat. late afternoon. So if I don’t respond to your request for something right away, it’s because I’m ‘conventioning’ and will get to you ASAP.

Below is the sketch challenge ~ and below that is the card I created for it. It’s a wedding card for a friends daughter who is getting married ~ and it’s already out the door :O).

Often times wedding cards are extremely feminine and frilly. For some reason, I thought of the groom and how, well, does he feel left out with all the frilliness ‘n stuff. This card is different, in that I mixed Designer Series Papers from two packs: stripes from Sun Prints 12 x 12 DSP and the floral from Hues of Happiness 12 x 12 DSP. Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to the sentiment panel for a bit of glitter & glam. The ribbon is a two-in- one… meaning Pool Party Sheer Ribbon tied in a bow, then White Crinkle Seam Binding tied right onto it. And I love how it came together: feminine but not too fussy.

Happiness Abounds.1

Step by step:

  • Adhere panel of Sun Prints 12 x 12 DSP to the card front with liquid glue – or adhesive of choice.
  • Die cut with Stitched Rectangle Dies, the floral pattern from Hues of Happiness 12 x 12 DSP.
  • Cut a larger piece of card stock 1/8″ larger all around – this is Night of Navy. Adhere floral die cut panel to the Night of Navy with liquid glue or adhesive of choice. Put dimensionals on back of the panel and center it on card front
  • Tie Pool Party Sheer Ribbon into bow, then tie White Crinkle Ribbon onto it, making it a two-in-one bow :O) Add to the end of the panel with a glue dot
  • Stamp sentiment on a Basic White scrap in Night of Navy ink, trim ends as shown. Put dimensionals on back and adhere, overlapping bow. The sentiment is from Happiness Abounds stamp set
  • Add three Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a bit of glam – and bingo, the card front is complete!
Happiness Abounds.2

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Happiness Abounds stamp set in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White panel. I then stamped this sweet floral stamp in Night of Navy ink, colored it with Stampin’ Blends Pool Party and Color Lifter. For a final touch I added some Crystal Effects for a bit of highlighting. Hopefully you can see that in the photo below. (OOPS! I just looked in the 2022-2023 AC and Crystal Effects is no longer listed as a product SU! sells, aargh!) This Basic White panel was adhered to a piece of Night of Navy card stock, then adhered to the inside of the Pool Party card base. – And done!

Happiness Abounds.3

For the envelope, I added more of the Sun Prints 12 x 12 DSP to the flap & trimmed it to fit. For the front of the envelope, I used one of the marvelous dies in the Blossoming Happiness Dies that coordinates with the Happiness Abounds stamp set (buy it as a bundle for 10% off!)- and die cut one of the roses from the Hues of Happiness 12 x 12 DSP. These dies & the paper coordinate so well! There are several dies that can be used on the DSP – yay! SU! really knows how to pull things together :O) Oh, this rose was adhered with liquid glue to the envelope front then trimmed to fit the envelope.

Stampin’ Up! Sneaky Peek w/ Botanical Layers Bundle

Good Tuesday everyone! The 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and ordering will soon be available to absolutely everyone… yay! I DO hope you will like the new In Colors. Personally, I really, really like them. And today’s card shows off a couple of them: Starry Night and Parakeet Party, oh and Orchid Oasis. The Designer Series Paper I used is more new issue: In Color 6×6 in Starry Night, Sun Prints 12 x 12 and of course the vellum is Lovely Layers Vellum (part of the Botanical Layers Bundle). There are a couple of other new products on the card as well: 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots – Orchid Oasis and Metallic Woven Ribbon in Parakeet Party. WooHoo! If you have a catalog already, take a peek at pg. 93 for my inspiration. Love the color combination!

Botanical Layers.1

I began with a card base of Starry Night card stock and adhered a panel of the 6 x 6 DSP Assortment in Starry Night. I then cut a piece of Sun Prints 12 x 12 (there are some gorgeous patterns in the pack!) and adhered it cockeyed, intentionally :O) I stamped the leaf design from the Botanical Layers stamp set in Orchid Oasis ink, kind of a purpley blue and heat set it with the heat tool to help it dry.It WILL dry on it’s own, but it will take a bit and I didn’t want to wait. I die cut the leaves from the Meadow Dies (coordinates with Quiet Meadow stamp set) and Basic White card stock then used a Blending Brush and Pale Papaya ink to gently add color. I also die cut the butterfly from the same Meadows Dies and Pale Papaya card stock then used the same Blending Brush to add more color to the butterfly. I added the white branch of leaves to the card with glue dots. I stamped the additional leaves on a Basic White piece in Parakeet Party ink and fussy cut it. This was an easy process by the way… I added this over the white leaves with dimensionals. I cut a length of Parakeet Party Metallic Ribbon and slipped it under the green leaves, adhering with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment from the Botanical Layers stamp set in Orchid Oasis ink and trimmed the Basic White strip as you see it. A single dimensional under the right section of the sentiment and a dab of liquid glue on the left adhered it to the card. Two final touches: add the butterfly with mini dimensionals, then add the 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots in Orchid Oasis. And the card front is complete.

Botanical Layers.1

For the inside I stamped the leaves in Orchid Oasis ink using the Botanical Layers stamp set, then added a strip of the 6×6 DSP Assortment in Starry Night to the bottom of the Basic White panel. This was added to the inside of the card and voila – the inside was also complete.

Botanical Layers.2

For the envelope, I stamped the leaves in Parakeet Party ink on the front of the envelope using the Botanical Layers stamp set. To the flap I added 6×6 DSP Assortment in Parakeet Party and trimmed it to fit. Done, done!

Botanical Layers.3

Stampin’ Up! W-V Fun Fold w/ Abstract Beauty and Butterflies

Fun Folds are just that – f-u-n to create. And this one is so easy, although it looks complicated, it isn’t. I’m continuing with a theme of sorts, Bugs or Butterflies using the Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 DSP to attract the butterflies. Let’s take a peek…

Brilliant Wings Dies & Abstract Beauty.1

Here you can easily see the W-V fold of the card and I’ve added three of the Brilliant Wings Dies in various places. Cut out of the DSP or vellum or combining the two papers, the butterflies appear almost real. Here’s another photo with the card flat.

Brilliant Wings Dies & Abstract Beauty.2

You may be saying, but there’s no place write… so flip the card over and this is the perfect place for notes.

W-V Fun Fold, back.3

Night of Navy was used for the card base, and Crushed Curry card stock to coordinate with the DSP. In these photos, it almost looks orange! On the butterflies are holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to add some glam; Basic White for the sentiments stamped in Night of Navy ink come from Artfully Layered stamp set. I embossed the Crushed Curry card stock using the Hive 3D EF prior to adhering them. Here are a few more photos… and yes, there are two cards, so you will notice the butterflies are cut from other papers in the Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 DSP pack and the envelope flaps are other papers in the pack.

This is a really fun card to make ~ let me see if I can give you some pointers for putting it together. Card cuts are listed below. One of the important parts is making certain that sentiment on the back panel is centered. I tend to use my grid paper to line things up just right.

Adhere the floral panel and the embossed pieces in the appropriate places using the photos above as your guide. Adhere the sentiment panels (the Night of Navy square) to the far right panel, again using your grid paper to make certain it is centered. The reason for this is… the V panel when the card is closed, covers this completely, so you want it just right. :O)

Adhering the V panel before decorating the card is next: lay the V panel on top of the sentiment panel, centering it. No glue at this point! Now close that inner W to see where it will ‘sit’ on the W (you are adhering the V to the fold that is closest to the flat portion of the card!); then lift the W, add a bit of glue to the V on the portion that will be adhered to the card and close that first W on the V. Once that dries sufficiently, close the card completely and fold the embossed portion of the V onto the card front panel (the floral piece). Note where that will ‘sit’, open the card and add liquid glue to that portion of the V, close the card again and adhere. Bingo! Now decorate as desired. YAY!!! You did it 😏

Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 DSP is not carrying over to the new cattie. Nor are the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Brilliant Wings Dies IS carrying over, just not in the bundle with the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. Night of Navy & Crushed Curry card stocks ARE in the new cattie, as are Basic White products. Do share with me what you create with this wonderful fun fold :O).

Products to make this card are listed below so feel free to order away. :O) If you do not have a demonstrator and need an Annual Catalog please reach out to me (the 2022-2023 AC) – happy to send one to you. AND… I have the Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog and can send that as well – ordering from that catalog ends May 2! When ordering, please also use current host code: 22R4JPCG. I offer my customers a free item from Stampin’ Up! item valued to $10 with your order of $50 and above. Click here to go my store. Stampin’ Up! Daisy Garden and Honeybee Home for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

HELLOOOO! Exciting things happening today at Stampin’ Up! – FREE SHIPPING ON ORDERS OF $75 & UP. Welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop… the sketch challenge is as you see it to the right ~ butterflies or bugs, and chose bees from the Honeybee Home bundle. You can see my card below.

Daisy Garden & Honeybee Home.1

I used the Daisy Garden stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White panel. The Night of Navy ink makes the flowers look elegant, but the Flowers for Every Garden Ribbon ‘countryfies’ it a bit. I colored the leaves/ stems in Shaded Spruce Blends, a really nice contrast with the navy. I colored the centers of the flowers with Dark Mango Melody Blends.

The bees ~ love these bees! They are stamped in Memento Black ink on Basic White, using the Honeybee Home stamp set. I colored them in Bumblebee for the body and Balmy Blue for the wings – Stampin’ Write Markers! They were die cut with the Honeybee Blooms Dies after coloring. They were attached to the floral panel with dimensionals. The ribbon (Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Pack) was wrapped around the card front and attached in back with Stampin’ Seal+, then the panel was adhered directly to the Night of Navy card base. I took another length of the same ribbon and tied it, then slipped a glue dot behind it to hold it in place.

The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy ink on another Basic White scrap using the Honeybee Home stamp set and fussy cut, put on dimensionals and adhered on top of the ribbon. Front … done!

Daisy Garden & Honeybee Home.2

For the inside, I used the Honeybee Home stamp set to stamp the flowers in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White panel. I again used the Bumblebee Marker to add color to the flower. I then stamped the bumblebee from Honeybee Home stamp set in Memento Black ink and colored it with Bumblebee Marker & Balmy Blue Marker – as on the front of the card. l-o-v-e! This panel was adhered to the inside of the card & bingo… card was complete.

Daisy Garden & Honeybee Home.3

For the envelope, I stamped the bumblebees in Memento ink on the flap three times and colored them as before… Bumblebee and Balmy Blue Markers. For the front of the envelope, I stamped the same floral pattern from Honey Home stamp set in Night of Navy ink and colored the flowers with Bumblebee Marker.

This card can be used for SO MANY occasions – just add a sentiment inside or write whatever you want. Versatility is the key… again… l-o-v-e…

Stampin’ Up! Paradise Palms for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

WooHoo! It’s time for another fabulous Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. Below is the sketch challenge ~ and just so you know, I was very liberal in my interpretation of the sketch :O)

And here’s my card… don’t you just love these palm trees? They were die cut with the Palms Dies from the sparkly Ombre Specialty Paper (why haven’t I used this paper more often???). I’m not certain the variation shows very much in the picture, but it does in person. In my interpretation of this sketch, I moved the center panel to the bottom of the card and in lieu of flowers I bordered the panel with grasses, also die cut using the Palms Dies. As I mentioned – loose interpretation.

The background paper is the wonderful Pattern Party DSP adhered directly to the Flirty Flamingo card base. I adhered the left palm with liquid glue, then the center palm with dimensionals cut down to fit and liquid glue at the bottom of the trunk. The right palm tree was also adhered with liquid glue, slipping it under the center palm and trimming the trunk to the proper length. I cut two of the grasses to fit below the palms: in Garden Green and the new Parakeet Party card stocks. The banner is 3/4″ and trimmed at each end with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink using the Through It Together stamp set. I adhered the banner with liquid glue and dimensionals along the bottom and right end. I die cut two more of the grasses, this time from Mossy Meadow card stock and adhered them with liquid glue and dimensionals. I added several (too many???) Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels both to the banner and in the palm trees. Those in the trees represent coconuts! (You know, vivid imagination.) My final step was the sun, cuz something was missing on the card without it. I die cut the sun, again using one of the dies in the Palm Dies, from a sticky note, then with a Blending Brush and So Saffron ink, colored it in. And the card front was done.

Paradise Palms Bundle.1

For the inside, I stamped the small palms in Mango Melody ink after adhering this wonderful panel of
Flirty Flamingo card stock die cut with another of the Palm Dies. The strip was adhered with dabs of liquid glue (isn’t it a fun addition?). The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink, again using the Through It Together stamp set. All of this was on a Basic White panel that was adhered to the inside of the card when completed.

Paradise Palms Bundle.2

The envelope got another small group of the palms stamped in Mango Melody ink. More of the Pattern Party DSP was adhered to the flap and trimmed to fit. Done, done! This was another one of those cards created out of my usual comfort zone. Experimenting is a good thing! It was inspired by a T-shirt I saw advertised with palm trees across the front and a striped background.

Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered Fun Fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Oh my – who doesn’t love a fun fold? This was so. much. fun. And it fits all the criteria for the…

So yes, Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop AND a color challenge. I just may have used more than three :O), but who’s counting! Here’s my card:

Artfully Layered Fun Fold.1

This was inspired by several folks who have made this fun fold, but mainly my upline Mary Deatherage. What makes this fun is the ladybug is sort of ‘free’. In other words, that diagonal is movable. This fun fold is called, I think, a Corner pop-up. I used three different Designer Series Papers on this card: Artfully Composed 12 x 12, (retiring May 2), In The Wild 12 x 12 (also retiring May 2) and Waves of the Ocean (available only while supplies last). The stamp sets used were: Artfully Layered for the inside sentiment + the greens on the envelope; Artistically Inked for the front sentiment. I also used the Tropical Layers Dies, Tailor Made Tags Dies for the sentiment banner on the front, and the very, very sweet Ladybug Builder Punch. Card stocks used were: Thick Basic White for the card base, Evening Evergreen for background pieces and the ladybug, Shimmer Vellum in Pale Papaya for the wings of the ladybug, Calypso Coral and Just Jade for the leaf die cuts. I used Just Jade ink for the front sentiment and Calypso Coral ink for the inside, Old Olive ink for the front of the envelope. Embellishments: Bumblebee Trinkets, Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots and Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya. This card fits perfectly in an A2 sized envelope and will definitely need extra postage due to thickness. It will also need an ‘overlay’ so the bumblebees do not poke through the envelope. 😳 So fun to do…. Can’t wait to see your creations with this fun fold :O)

Here are more pictures of this fun fold:

See in the center photo just above how some of the Artfully Composed DSP is covered by the Evening Evergreen card stock for the ‘flap’? I just didn’t like that… and made yet another card and look what I did with that bendable flap… I adhered it first and put the DSP panel on top of it. I like this MUCH better :O) The green shown is THE BRAND NEW PARAKEET PARTY in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog :O)

Stampin’ Up! Abstract Beauty Support

Hi Everyone! TGIF!!! Whew – long, busy week – how about you? And here it is almost weekend and well, still full plate. Not complaining, just sayin’… Today’s card is not my usual style, it’s a bit on the modern side. The thing is – I really like this paper :O). It’s called Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 DSP. This sort of ‘brush stroke’ look is modern and fun. The butterfly definitely softens the look.

Abstract Beauty Support.1

Several layers here, but that is what makes it fun – it keeps the eye moving.

  • Card base is Thick Basic White 8 1/2 x 5 12 scored at 4 1/4
  • Abstract Beauty background layer is 4 x 5 3/8 adhered to the card base
  • The next panel is also Abstract Beauty 3 x 3 1/2 and adhered.
  • The stripe layer is yet another panel of Abstract Beauty 1 1/2 x 5 and adhered directly
  • On a 5/8″ strip of Basic White, stamp the sentiment in Just Jade ink. The sentiment comes from Through It Together stamp set. I punched the one end with the Tailored Tag Punch. This was attached with dimensionals.
  • Die cut a Vellum circle with the Layering Circles Dies.
  • Adhere the butterfly about in the center of the circle with liquid glue just along the body.
    • The butterfly was created by using a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz inks on a Basic White piece, then die cutting with the Brilliant Wings Dies.
  • Add dimensionals to the Vellum circle but just along the body of the butterfly. The reason is the dimensionals will show if added anywhere else and here they are hidden but still give dimension to the piece.
  • Add several Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the circle, butterfly and on the sentiment panel. Done!
Abstract Beauty Support, inside

For the inside I added a scrap of the background Abstract Beauty DSP with liquid glue. I stamped the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink – from the Through It Together stamp set. And the final touch here – two of the adorable and perfect Brushed Brass Butterflies. The Basic White panel was adhered to the inside of the card and voila ~ the card is complete.

Abstract Beauty Support

The envelope got another bit of the same Abstract Beauty 4×6 DSP to the flap.

Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Brilliance for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hello one and all! Welcome to the talented Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! It’s always fun to meet a sketch challenge and I turned the sketch to make this card.

Brilliant Wings Die.1

And here’s our sketch…

I started with this beautiful butterfly… using a Blending Brush and various inks (Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz) I colored a Basic White piece then die cut the butterfly (Brilliant Wings Dies) from that panel and again from Vellum. I then layered those butterflies together with Stampin’ Seal. With a panel of Basic White 3 x 5 1/2 and using my Stamparatus to make certain the sentiment was straight and centered and placing the butterfly in the approximate position but not adhering it, I stamped the sentiment in Pacific Point ink (after removing the butterfly!). That sentiment comes from the Through It Together stamp set. I then added the butterfly with liquid glue. Notice I left the wings and the antennae free :O)

The next step was the create the card base itself: Thick Basic White cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. Add strips of Coastal Cabana about 1/4″ from each edge, then another strip of Pacific Point. Add the butterfly panel and the final touch are the lovely Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels. (These can be purchased as part of the Waves Collection right now ~ and only available while supplies last., They will NOT be in the 2022 – 2023 Annual Catalog.) As you can see there are several shades of jewels and I mixed them up because of the butterfly.

Brilliant Wings Dies.2

The envelope got special treatment with a piece of Abstract Beauty 4 x 6 DSP adhered to the flap and trimmed to fit. I stamped the butterfly right on the DSP using the Butterfly Brilliance stamp. First I inked with Coastal Cabana, then picked up the Pacific Point and inked just the lower wings. You could easily do this with a sponge dauber but I was lazy and just used the ink pad.

Brillance Wings Dies.3

After cleaning the stamp I repeated the process of inking the butterfly with Coastal Cabana then tapping the lower wings with Pacific Point. and stamped the front of the envelope.

Brilliance Wings Dies.4

This card has a lot of white space and I’m not used to making cards like this, but I like it ~ it’s simple and elegant. For all the products used in today’s card and more information about current happenings in Stampin’ Up!, scroll down below the names :O)
