Stampin’ Up! Stitched Triangles Birthday

It’s Tuesday – do you have something F-U-N planned? It’s our son-in-laws birthday today and I’ve made a special card for him… He tends toward the modern and straight lines, so I decided to follow that. We also have a bag that one of his presents is in and that determined the colors for the card, cuz I wanted them to coordinate. Silly? Maybe, but there it is. The cloth bag has tones of brown & a beautiful blue – I decided on Bermuda Bay and it almost matches perfectly! For the brown I used Soft Suede and it’s just ok… I think it looks good on the card.

I’ve used a RETIRED product – totally against the ‘rules’ but again, I wanted to use something that I thought our son-in-law would like. The retired item is Mercury Glass Designer Acetate in silver. A current item is the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate and I SHOULD HAVE used that, turned to the reverse side… but honestly I didn’t think of it. 😦 In my product list, Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate will show, cuz it will totally work!

Here’s what I did…

  • Die cut triangles from Pattern Party DSP – 2
  • Die cut triangles from Hydrangea Hill Mercury Designer Acetate on the silver side – 2
  • Adhered them together offset – as shown in photo. using Stampin’ Seal (HINT/ TIP: Stampin’ Seal does not show through the acetate!)
  • Adhered to the card base – Thick Basic White as shown
  • Stamped sentiments from Biggest Wish stamp set: happy in Bermuda Bay ink and BIRTHDAY in Sahara Sand ink. I used the Stamparatus for this as it makes it really easy.
  • Added three Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins

For the inside I did some creative die cutting with additional dies from the Stitched Triangles Dies.

  • On the left I die cut directly into the Basic White panel using the Stitched Triangles Dies
  • I die cut two fun ‘banners’ from Soft Suede card stock then Bermudas Bay card stock and adhered them together with liquid glue, off-set.
  • Adhere the Basic White panel to a Bermuda Bay panel, slightly larger, with Stampin’ Seal, then into the inside of the card, again with Stampin’ Seal – – – and the card was D-O-N-E.

For the envelope…

  • Die cut a strip with one of the Stitched Triangles Dies from Bermuda Bay card stock
  • Adhere with dots of liquid glue to Soft Suede card stock the same length but slightly wider
  • Adhere to envelope with Stampin’ Seal – and both card & envelope are d-o-n-e. YAY… Gosh, I just looked at the photo and it’s hard to tell the Bermuda Bay from the Soft Suede <:(

I THINK our son-in-law will like this card – and his gifties. Such fun to create for others with what they like in mind.

Stampin’ Up! Merriest Moments

Happy Monday! Oh wow – late in the day post today… we went sailing this morning… 🙂 what a wonderful way to begin the week! Here’s a quick photo you might enjoy – then I’ll get on to the real reason for this post: today’s card.

Beautiful sky, right? It was pretty peaceful out there on the river. OK – today’s card is made with the very new Merriest Moments bundle which can be found in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog. This comes with three pieces: stamp set, hybrid embossing folder and dies. Hybrid indicates this embossing folder has a coordinating die that can be run through WITH the embossing folder, at the same time! Whoa… It is very cool. Here is the end result – well, my end result for my first play with this set.

This card was made with Very Vanilla card stock, gold foil, gold embossing powder and a couple more items. I happen to like monochromatic cards and this one certainly fits that criteria. My first step was to run the embossing folder through without any dies. It created the gorgeous background you see. I then ran another piece through with the embossing folder AND the large outline die – using the embossing plates. I then used the die cutting plates to cut with the detail die to get this gorgeous detail die cut. There is also a rectangle die in this die bundle – and I used that for the sentiment panel. As you can see, I used gold embossing powder for the sentiment – which comes from the Merriest Moments stamp set. I then added three of the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots in gold to that panel.

My layers went like this…

  • Thick very Vanilla card base
  • Gold Foil sheet adhered with liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal
  • Embossed panel in Very vanilla adhered with Seal+
  • Die cut in Very Vanilla adhered with many dimensionals – both mini and regular
  • Sentiment panel in Very vanilla adhered with dimensionals

For the inside, on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock I stamped this sweet leaf spray in Soft Suede ink, then used the Soft Suede marker to make the squigly pattern . This was adhered to the inside of the card: liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal.

For ther envelope, I stamped the pine spray and the word JOY with Soft Suede ink and that was it! DONE!!! Oh I DID enjoy playing with this gorgeous bundle… can’t wait to play some more.

Stampin’ Up Fun Fold and Mountain Air

Happy Thursday folks! My goodness it has been HOT lately. Ugh – makes it hard to breathe. Thank goodness for air conditioning! I grew up without it and remember the lethargy that set in with the heat. Now there is no excuse 🙂

Today’s card is pretty easy for a fun fold – and it’s called a side step. When you see the card, the name fits it perfectly.

  • We start with a card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.
  • Place the paper in the paper trimmer(portrait style) at 2 1/2″. With the short side at the top and over to 2 1/2″, cut from 2 1/8″ to 7 5/8″
  • Turn the paper counterclockwise (left), place it at 2 1/8″ and score to the cut line at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 5 1/2, 6 3/4, 7 5/8.
  • Gently fold each score line and burnish so it looks like the photo below

Now decorate 🤩 My card base is Pear Pizzazz. The next layer is Mossy Meadow. The DSP is Heartwarming Hugs which is a carryover DSP. I used the Mountain Die to die cut two large trees: one in Pear Pizzazz and one in Basic White and layered them together slightly offset. They are adhered to the card front with mini dimensionals cut in half. The sentiment is from Christmas To Remember stamp set, stamped in Real Red on a Basic White scrap and fussy cut. I adhered it in place with mini dimensionals. For the two additional side panels I stamped the trees from Mountain Air stamp set: Pear Pizzazz ink on the Basic White panel & Mossy Meadow ink on the Pear Pizzazz piece. They were die cut with the Majestic Mountain Dies. The panel with double & single trees has a Basic White piece that I die cut with one of the Majestic Mountain dies to make it look as though there was snow on the ground. And you can see I cut it into usable lengths. I adhered one of the strips with liquid glue, then the single tree over it. The double trees were placed on dimensionals then the white strip added with liquid glue. For the back step, I stamped the trees in Pear Pizzazz ink on a Basic White piece, then stamped it the other way to make it appear as though it were a shadow. (This wasn’t exactly mirror stamping!) Again I die cut this piece with the Majestic Mountain Dies and adhered in place with liquid glue. The trees were added with dimensionals. For a final touch I added a few Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the sentiment panel and one on the tall finely die cut tree. And the card is done. Love this!!! Such an easy fun fold and so many possibilities.

For the envelope, the flap got more of the Heartwarming Hugs DSP adhered with liquid glue. The front sentiment was stamped in Real Red ink using the Christmas To Remember stamp set.

Stampin’ Up Note Card Gift Box

Happy Sunday! It’s rainy here this morning, and yet it’s still a day to remember. Our first grandchild turned 21 yesterday and we will be together soon with other family too. Such fun. While it’s raining here, it shouldn’t be raining where we are headed – yay! We have some fun items to hang from trees and silly things to blow on – to make this a light, fun moment of turning 21. It should be as good day. 😁

Several days ago I shared a note card with cork and mentioned that this card needed to be repeated and shared in a gift box. Well, I finally got to it… and made the additional four cards you see below. (In lieu of the cork, I used In the Woods DSP and various different card stock bases: Early Espresso, Gorgeous Grape, Crushed Curry, and Mossy Meadow. I also used various ribbons, some current and some not, and in lieu of the cute little bumblebee trinket, I used a retired Little Ladybug. The current ribbons used were Faux Suede in Early Espresso, Gingham Ribbon in Bumblebee and finally sheer ribbon in Fresh Freesia.

And here’s the box, a mini Paper Pumpkin box, that I decorated on the top. I used Crushed Curry card stock topped with the Harvest Meadow DSP which I love. I then cut a tag using Basic White card stock and the Tailor Made Dies. I stamped the beautiful wildflower spray and the sentiment using Garden Wishes stamp set and Early Espresso ink. I colored the flowers with markers: Bumblebee, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz and finally Soft Suede for the flower center. I added a Faux Suede Ribbon in Early Espresso and the cute little Ladybug Trinket, mounted it on dimensionals and added it to the mini box.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday In The Wild

Happy Saturday! It’s a beautiful day here on the East Coast and I’m hoping your day is a good one as well. I have a fun fold for you today – a tri-fold – you could maybe call it a cascade tri fold . It’s our grandsons 21st birthday today. Nothing like a grandchilds birthday to make me feel O-L-D! But then I figure – age is all in the head…besides, I’m doing some good things and age just doesn’t really matter.

This card is loaded with Designer Series Paper and very little card stock and it feels good in the hand – not flimsy. The base is In The Woods DSP cut 12 x 5 1/2, scored on the long side at 4 & 8, then burnished & folded mountain, valley. I then marked the front panel 1 1/2″ down from the top on the far left end and trimmed with my paper trimmer from the mark to the 2nd fold. This creates the cascade look. I then decorated each of the panels, inside & out. I used In The Wild DSP as the true focal point – it’s masculine and colorful. Since I do not have the dies for these beautiful creatures, I fussy cut a few and set them aside to add as necessary.

Panel 2 got a layer of this beautiful In The Wild DSP cut 3 15/16 x 5 1/2. I adhered it, then placed the card in my trimmer and trimmed off the top edge.

.Panel 3 actually got some card stock… 3 15/16 x 4 1/4 Basic White adhered in place. I added one of the beautiful creatures with liquid glue, making certain it did not show when the card was closed. I then stamped the word HAPPY using the Biggest Wish stamp set and Crushed Curry ink. I die cut the numbers 21 using scrap from the In The Wild DSP and the Playful Alphabet Dies. ((TIP: for strength of the numbers & balloon, I adhered some basic White to the DSP then die cut or punched as necessary.) I added the numbers with liquid glue. The balloon… is punched using the Balloon Punch, which is a retired item. I do have a die for a balloon but this punch was handy. First I cut a short length of Linen Thread and held it in place on the back of the balloon with a couple of dimensionals, then put it in place on the card.

Now I finished the front panel. With the card closed I adhered this beautiful creature with liquid glue just on it’s lower portion. The reason the card is closed is because you don’t want it on beyond the card 🙂 I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black ink using the All Squared Away stamp set on a Basic White scrap and fussy cut it. I like the font on this. I used a stitched rectangle from the Ornate Layers Dies and cut a panel of DSP (and yes, I did adhere Basic White to it before die cutting for strength.) I adhered the sentiment to this rectangle with liquid glue, then put dimensionals on the back and added it to the front of the card. I also added three Matte Black Dots.

I turned the card over and decorated the back side – with more of the In The Wild DSP. And I added a small fusasy cut beautiful creature for fun. I used the same trick for trimming the angle of the panels as before – the paper trimmer. For the right panel I did have to do some fussy cutting around the animals.

For the envelope I adhered more DSP from In The Wild DSP pack and then stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze ink from the All Squared Away stamp set. This is the perfect sentiment and again, I love the font.

So, what do you think? I wanted something bright but not gawdy, not too sophisticated (which this definitely is NOT), masculine and yet fun. For me, this fits the bill. Except for the numbers, this card could be used many ages – and I like that idea too.

Stampin’ Up! Christmas to Remember

Hello again… The Jul-Dec 2021 Mini catalog is LIVE – woohoo! What’s your favorite? One of my favorites is the Painted Christmas Suite of products. Yes, I have been using it a lot. I’m a traditional girl, but I also like that the DSP in this suite is not red/ green, but mostly shades of green. card has lots of layers but is really pretty simple. The die used is from the Christmas Pinecone Dies which is paired with Christmas to Remember stamp set. The suite has two stamp sets: one with sentiments (Christmas to Remember) and Christmas Season which has the pinecone, pine needles, holly and various leaves stamps. They are meant to go together. It also has two die sets, Seasonal Labels Dies and Christmas Pinecone Dies.

For this card I began by punching four rectangles from a piece of the Painted Christmas DSP. The punch used is the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch – and it’s from the same DSP, just the other side.. I mounted these on a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock, then wrapped a length of Shimmer Ribbon in gold around it and secured it in back with Stampin’ Seal. I die cut the background pine in Evening Evergreen, then the overlay in the Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP that is a freebie in the Sale-a-bration catalog.I trimmed off two of the pine sections, lightly adhered them together with liquid glue and added them to the card front. I then took a scrap of Basic White and punched the oval using the Double Oval Punch. It was stamped with one of the leaves from Christmas Season stamp set with Soft Sea Foam ink 2nd generation (that means stamped off). Then I stamped the word MERRY in Evergreen ink from the Christmas to Remember stamp set. This oval got dimensionals and was adhered to the center of the card. I added three 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to the oval.

The card base is Evening Evergreen. The next layer is Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz added to the base with dimensionals. Then the completed panel was added to it with dimensionals.

For the inside, I added more of the same die cuts adhered with liquid glue to a Basic White panel, then stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink. Yep, this is from the Christmas to Remember stamp set. This panel was added to Soft Sea Foam with liquid glue then into the inside of the card. And the card is done…

The envelope flap has the same DSP from Painted Christmas DSP pack adhered, then the leaves were stamped in Soft Sea Foam and the pines in Evening Evergreen. Come the end of November, this will go to some favorite folks. I love the glitter of the Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP. It adds extra glam to the card 🙂 Want to know how to get some of this fabulous DSP? WOOHOO! The Jul-Dec 2021 Catalog is L-I-V-E! Yay… Welcome. Today I’m sharing a card using the Painted Christmas DSP that is now available for purchase. It’s beautiful.

I’ve used a rather non-traditional color for the card base – Pear Pizzazz. It coordinates so well with this particular sheet of DSP. I’ve used the Christmas Season stamp set to stamp on the die cut sentiment banner in Soft Succulent 2nd generation. I used the Seasonal Labels Dies to create the banner. And finally, I used the Christmas to Remember stamp set to stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen. I set this aside while I put the card together.

  • Pear Pizzazz for the card base
  • Painted Christmas DSP adhered to Evening Evergreen card stock. Dimensionals on the back and adhered to the card base
  • Cut a length of Reversible Ribbon and adhere with glue dots.
  • Put dimensionals on the back of the sentiment banner and adhere over the ribbon
  • Add three Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front is complete.

For the inside I used a couple of the stamps in the Christmas Season stamp set to create a beautiful ‘header’. I used Soft Succulent 2nd for the larger leaf. I then stamped the pine needles in Evening Evergreen ink 2nd & 3rd generation. Of course, these were stamped on Basic White card stock. I adhered this to a panel of Evening Evergreen, then into the inside of the card.

For the envelope I added more of the same beautiful DSP to the envelope flap, then stamped the pine stamp from Christmas Season stamp set in Evening Evergreen. And – done. A quick card that is just beautiful. These stamps and dies may be found on pages 16-17 of the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog.

Stampin’ Up! Love of Leaves Thinking of You

Hello! How’s your Saturday? It’s beautiful here on the East Coast… and a good day for some outdoor activities 🙂 While it is still full swing summer here, I chose to make this easy, fun, fall card. It uses the stunning Stitched leaves Dies that emboss and die cut all in one movement. This is a carry-over item into the 2021 Annual Catalog that coordinates with the Love of Leaves stamp set, but for this card I have used some new products available in the to the general public from the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog. Aug 3 is that big date!

What are the new products? The awesomely sparkly Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP is one of the new items on this card; the other is the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots in gold. The white bow is made by pulling apart a length of the Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and attaching it with a glue dot. This is a new item in the 2021 Annual Catalog.

Ok, so you see the colors: Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider and the Be Dazzling 6×6 DSP, layered on a piece of Early Espresso card stock (which was added to the card base with dimensionals). The card base is Very Vanilla that has been run through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. The large leaf was adhered just in the center with liquid glue. The Cinnamon Cider leaf got dimensionals and was placed over the large leaf. The Cherry Cobbler leaf was adhered with liquid glue as well. The inspiration for this card came from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge as seen in the sketch below. What do you think? Does it look like the sketch?

Each of the leaves has been die cut with the Stitched Leaves Dies, two of them have that wonderful stitching that looks like veins in the leaves. I REALLY like these! Of course I like the large leaf too, but I didn’t think the veins would show on that sparkly DSP. What else can I tell you about this – oh, the long Cinnamon Cider leaf was cut from the 2020-2022 In Color 6×6 DSP.

Let’s take peek at the inside of the card.

Stitched Leaves Dies.2

I die cut this small leaf from Cherry Cobbler card stock scrap and once I put the card front together, here was this fun scrap. I decided to add it to the inside of the card with liquid glue. It brings a fun element to the card. I stamped the sentiment from the Loves of Leaves stamp set with Cinnamon Cider ink. All this was done on a Very Vanilla panel which was added to the inside of the card.

The leaf stamps in the Love of Leaves stamp set are distinctive, which means they don’t make a solid image. The large leaf in this set was stamped in 2nd & 3rd generation with Cinnamon Cider ink on the front and the flap.

It seems strange to make a fall kind of card at this time of year, but that’s what seem to come together – and I like it. It’s just that it won’t get used for a while!

Stampin’ Up! Diagonal Gatefold Envelope

Hi there! It’s Wednesday the 28th – just days away from the END of the 15% off select DSP sale (Aug 2) and the LAUNCH of the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog (Aug 3) & Sale-a-bration catalogs (Aug 3 – Sep 30). WhooHoo! Shall we call this WooHoo Wednesday? Silliness, right? OK … today’s project is the envelope for a Diagonal Gatefold card. The card information was shared in yesterday’s post which you may see here. The envelope is created with one of the paper packs avail in the 2021- 2022 Annual Catalog called Pattern Party DSP. It is available when you make a purchase of $300 or more. The pack is wonderful – black & white on one side and colorful on the other. Below is the finished envelope for a look see. The “address” label on the front shows the other side of this particular piece.

The how to…

  • Cut the DSP 8 1/2 x 12: score on the LONG side 3/4, 7 3/4; score on the SHORT side 7/8, 6 3/4
  • Burnish all score lines and trim – see photo for reference

  • Use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the edges of the flap
  • Add Tear n Tape to the outside pieces just long enough for the fold up of the bottom.
  • Add Tear n Tape to the flap as well

  • Fold up bottom and adhere. You can clearly see that I ran the Tear n Tape too long on the sides. I simply rolled it down once the covering was removed and it worked perfectly.
  • Using the Seasonal Labels Dies to cut a panel for the front to use as an address label. I used some of the same Pattern Party DSP for the label. The seasonal Labels Dies will be available in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog beginning Aug 3. It is part of the Christmas Season Bundle.

Stampin’ Up! Diagonal Gate Fold for Christmas

It’s Tuesday – shall we call it Terrific Tuesday? I sorta like that 🙂 Todays card is just that – terrific. This is a fun fold that is not new, but since I never made one, well, it was time. I’ve used the Tidings of Christmas 6×6 DSP and combined it with the Evergreen Elegance bundle which may be found in the Annual Catalog, page 91. This is such a fun and easy card to make.

How to make…do all your scoring first, then cut your papers and adhere.

Scoring

  • begin with your card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/4, scored on the long side at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2. (mine is Cherry Cobbler)
  • score the left panel from the upper left corner to the 1st score line on the diagonal
  • score the right panel from the upper left corner of the 2nd score line to the bottom right corner
  • burnish the score lines so they are mountain, valley, valley, mountain

Cutting your papers

  • cut each card stock layer 2 5/8 x 5 3/8 (there will be 4, three in Soft Succulent, 1 in Basic White
  • cut TWO of the Soft Succulent layers on the diagonal from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (the remaining piece will be the center panel)
  • cut the Basic White panel from the upper right corner to the lower left corner
  • cut a Basic White panel for the card center 2 1/2 x 5 1/4
  • cut DSP layers 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 (I cut three coordinating panels)
  • cut TWO DSP layers on the diagonal from the upper left corner to the lower right corner
  • cut ONE DSP layer from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (this is my Soft Succulent DSP layer), there will be one of these left over

TIP: When cutting your DSP layers, if there is a definite direction to the design, make certain you are cutting it in the proper direction. 🙂

Next steps

  • Stamp the center Basic White panel and add decoration
    • The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set
    • The trees at the bottom are punched using the Evergreen Border Punch, Soft Succulent card stock and Evening Evergreen card stock and adhered to the panel with liquid glue
    • Adhere this panel to the center of the card
  • Stamp the diagonally trimmed Basic White panel using Evening Evergreen ink and the smallest tree from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set: first full strength, then the two side trees without re-inking
  • Adhere this Basic White panel as shown in photo

You are nearly done…

  • Adhere the trimmed panels with liquid glue: layers are card stock then DSP!
  • Stamp the sentiment for the front banner in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set – on a Basic White strip
  • Cut the banner with this beautiful die using the Seasonal Labels Dies (this is in the Jul-Dec Mini Catalog on page 17 and is part of the Christmas Season bundle)
  • Adhere the die cut sentiment banner to a piece of Soft Succulent card stock 1 1/8 x 4 1/4
  • Close the card and adhere the banner with dimensionals on the left side only
  • Add Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the banner and to the tree – voila! Beautiful, right?

This card will need a handmade envelope as the finished size is 5 1/2 x 6. I will include directions for the envelope in tomorrow’s post. 🙂

Below is some information about a Sales Tax Holiday for particular states

US SCHOOL SUPPLY SALES TAX HOLIDAY

Eleven states will be offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July or August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” To see the names of participating states, products exempted from tax, and sales tax holiday dates, click here.

Please note that you must place your order with Stampin’ Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (which is midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday). Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday; the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

If you have customers who live in states who benefit from the sales tax holiday (yay!), be sure to give them a call and let them know.

Note: Georgia, Louisiana, and Wisconsin have suspended the sales tax holiday for this year.
