Stampin’ Up! Decorative Trees Bundle & Two Projects

What is your passion? Do you like doodling, creating, doing or making things for others? I enjoy people, most people that is, and I enjoy creating mostly for others. Creating calms me when life sometimes gets out of control. It lowers my stress level when life gets out of balance. Thursday was a card class day and we used the the Decorative Trees bundle. This is in the Sep-Dec 2024 Mini Catalog and I highly recommend it. This catalog goes live Sep 3 – just days away. Let’s look at what we made…

Stampin' Up! Decorative Trees card front

Talk about Christmas – this is it! Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are thy branches. Hee Hee. This does NOT show the glittery paper! Darn! However… this is a two step tree die cut, using two dies. The first tree is the background and is die cut from Festive 12 x 12 Glimmer Paper in Granny Apple Green. The next layer is plain Granny Apple Green cardstock with Adhesive Sheet applied to it. The Adhesive Sheet allows you to peel back and stick – similar to how we use dimensionals. :O) When the die cut is delicate, it makes it so easy to use the Adhesive Sheets. Now the tree is together, let’s work on the rest of the card.

  • the card base is Garden Green 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2
  • layer Basic White 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and adhere to card front.
  • next layer is Granny Apple Green 4 x 5 1/4 and embossed in the Birch Wood 3D embossing folder, then adere directly to the Basic White
  • next layer is Basic White 3 1/8 x 3 1//8
  • final layer is Take A Bow 6x6b DSP cut 3 x 3 and adhered to Basic White: both adhered to card front with equal top & side edges
  • add the tree with dimensionals
  • add a double bow from Natural Tones Linen Thread in Garden Green – a glue dot works well

The card front sentiment comes from the Decorative Trees stamp set. I wanted this sentiment to have a sheen and have heat embossed in clear embossing powder. Here’s how…

  • ink the sentiment with VersaMark ink, then ink right away with Garden Green ink and stamp on the Basic White strip 1 x 3 1/8
  • sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the heat tool.

Attach the Basic White sentiment strip to the card front with dimensionals and add Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins in Granny Apple Green.

Stampin' Up! Decorative Trees card inside

For the inside, I wanted the same sheen to the sentiment from Decorative Trees stamp set:

  • ink sentiment with VersaMark ink, then ink stamp with Garden Green ink – stamp the 4 x 5 1/4 Basic White panel
  • sprinkle the ink with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool
Stampin' Up! Decorative Trees card & Envelope

For the envelope…I used the same Take A Bow 6×6 DSP pattern to adhere to the flap and trimmed to fit. On the front I stamped the tree image from Decorative Trees stamp set in Garden Green ink – and done!

For our second project, we created an ornament using the Decorative Trees Dies only. Below are the front, attached loop for hanging and dimensionals to hold in place and last photo is the back side, DSP only.

I used the Decorative Trees outline die to die cut the tree from another DSP in the Sep-Dec Mini Catalog: Season of Elegance SDSP in Pretty Peacock, cut 2. I die cut the snowflake/ tree detail die from Nests of Winter DSP to which I added Adhesive Sheet for easy adhering. I also added Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems to two places on the snowflake diecut. Isn’t this paper gorgeous? It comes in Pretty Peacock, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Beige.

Stampin' Up! Sophisticated Sled card & envelope

For the envelope, I used another panel of the Take a Bow 6×6 DSP to add to the flap, trimmed to fit, and stamped this same cardinal from Sophisticated Sled in Memento ink and colored it in Stampin’ Blends Real Red.

Stampin’ Up! Greetings of the Season Christmas Fun Fold

Good Sunday morning. One of the Online Exclusive bundles/ Suites is the Season of Green & Gold Suite – perfect for Christmas/ holiday cards. I have used the papers in this suite to create a fun fold.

Stampin' Up! Seaqson of Green & Gold Fun Fold

Can you see how it stands on it’s own? And it’s decorated on both sides of the card.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold fun fold, back side

Here are the basics – just remember, any papers can be used to create this card and many different dies as well. I used the items from the Season of Green & Gold Suite: Season of Green SDSP, Graceful Greenery Vellum, Greetings of the Season Bundle and Golden Greenery Bundle. I also used the Spotlight on Nature Dies to create the circle on the card front with the Seasons of Green SDSP.

Card base and basics:

  • 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored on the long side at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 6 & 7 1/4
  • Designer Series Papers for the folds are all cut 1 x 5 1/4. Cut 8
  • Center panels are 3 1/2 x 5 1/4

For the die cuts on the card front, I used Very Vanilla, Distressed Gold SDSP and Graceful Greenery Vellum and the Golden Greenery Dies. For the sentiment panels on front and back I used the Greetings of the Season Bundle, Old Olive ink, Cherry Cobbler ink, more of the Distressed Gold SDSP, Very Vanilla and Season of Green and Gold SDSP. The embellishments are not from this suite, but are Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems. And the Linen Thread bow is a double bow adhered with a glue dot.

Here’s a top view of how the card looks:

And the card & envelope

For the envelope, more of the Season of Green & Gold SDSP on the flap trimmed to fit – and on the front, this beautiful pine bow frond stamped in Old Olive ink: the inner is full strength and the main is second generation stamped.

Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Journey Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are always difficult. We often know the person well – or the family and we get emotional when making them. It can also be a form of remembrance and fond memories allowing us to feel connected differently. This is one such card.

For today’s card I have taken a leftover piece of Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP and cut it down to 3 x 4. I attached it with Stampin’ Seal to the Painted Texture 3D embossed panel of Basic White cut 4 x 5 1/4. This was added with dimensionals to a Thick Basic White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. With the Friends For Life Dies and Distressed Gold Specialty Paper (1 3/4 x 4), I die cut the beautiful leaf, trimmed it into two sections and adhered the longer section to the card front with small dots of liquid glue. In cut a strip of Calypso Coral 1/2 x 5 and adhered it in place, grounding the DSP scene. I added a 1/4 x 4 3/4 strip of Mossy Meadow. The sentiment strip is 3/4 x 3 3/4 stamped in Early espresso ink – using the Everyday Greetings stamp set. I adhered this with dimensionals and added the remainder of the leaf die cut from the Friends For Life Dies. To enhance the gold, I attached three Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins in gold.

Stampin' Up! Sympathy card with Thoughtful Journey 6x6 DSP, inside

I die cut that same leaf pattern with the Friends for Life Dies and Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP. This was adhered to a Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 panel. Another 1/4 x 5 1/4 strip of Mossy Meadow was added to the bottom – and the card was complete.

Stampin' Up! Sympathy card & envelope with Thoughtful Journey 6x6 DSP

For the envelope, another piece of the Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP was added to the flap & trimmed to fit. I stamped the leaf from Friends for Life stamp set first in full strength Mossy Meadow ink, then stamped again without re-inking. I think it might have looked better with the single leaf, but it was done. I’m hoping the recipient will find the card hopeful and peaceful and comforting.
