SU! Tasteful Touches

Hi Everyone – I tried something new for me today – does that surprise anyone? Maybe we shouldn’t go there… I saw a video by Kylie Bertucci, a very creative demonstrator from Australia and had to her ideas a ‘go’. Here’s the completed card…

Tasteful Touchers – Feather
#1

Can you see the sparkly on the background? It’s sprinkled embossing powder! This is done on Basic Gray cs and I love the look. So here’s what I did… First, swipe the card stock with your embossing buddy to remove static and create a ‘clean’ surface. I tapped the Versamark ink pad around the perimeter of the card stock – no need to do the center since it was to be covered. Then I sprinkled the silver embossing powder with my fingers, keeping the powder light and not clumping or globbing – then I heat set it. Fun look. Yes, I SHOULD HAVE taken a picture at that stage – but didn’t really think about it until just now 😳 well – silly me…

The rest of this card is so very simple: using the feather image from the  Tasteful Touches stamp set, stamp randomly in stamped off once Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock. I then took a sponge dauber and Gorgeous Grape and did very light sponging on the feathers. I love this color and it gives the feathers a totally different look. This was mounted on Gorgeous Grape card stock with liquid glue. I wrapped a length of the Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding around these two pieces and tied a knot. I put dimensionals on the back and mounted it on the silver sprinkled, heat embossed panel of Basic Gray. This then was adhered to a panel of Whisper White with liquid glue. This was adhered to the Basic Gray card base. As the final step, I took a 5/8″ strip of Basic Gray, rubbed it with the embossing buddy then stamped the sentiment from the In The Pines stamp set in Versamark. I sprinkled it with silver embossing powder then heat set it. The final length is about 2″. This strip got dimensionals and was placed over the ribbon.

The inside is even simpler yet – a single stamped feather in several times stamped off Basic Gray ink on a Whisper White panel. This was mounted directly to the card base with liquid glue.

Tasteful Touches – inside
#2

I started the main panel with the feathers as a larger piece. Once I cut it down to the size I wanted I saved the strips and adhered one of those to the envelope front. And that was it – the card was complete. This could so easily be a masculine card. It IS however, going to a young woman who is battling cancer – and loves purple. It will be gone by the time you read this post.

SU! Love of Leaves Bundle

Fall is such a great time of year… and this card says ‘Fall’ all over it. This stamp/ die set is just so lovely – can be used for masculine cards for sure, which I sometimes have a hard time making. But this was so easy peasy and I love how it turned out.

Love of Leaves bundle #1

I kept the look really simple and clean, using the Stitched Leaves Dies as the main focus. Aren’t they stunning? What I especially like about them is the way they have a stitched border around the leaf die cut and the leaf embossing with another die. With one roll through that die cutting machine  I was able to cut the square with the Square Dies AND one set of leaves in Very Vanilla cs! The border color is one of the new In Colors – Cinnamon Cider – a gorgeous shade of golden brown. That was cut with a Square Scalloped Die. The rectangle for the largest leaf was die cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies, again in Very Vanilla.

I adhered the Very Vanilla square with the leaf ‘hole’ to the Cinnamon Cider with liquid glue. The leaf itself I adhered with dimensionals. I set those aside While I worked on the Very Vanilla background. First I located where the leaf squares would be, then laid the sentiment from Love Of Leaves stamp set in place. I moved the squares off the piece and stamped the sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink. Then I ran it through the Tasteful Textures. embossing folder. This panel I adhered to a piece of Cinnamon Cider. I laid the leaf dies back on the textured Very Vanilla panel, glued on the squares and the rectangle with liquid glue. Then in the opening, I placed the leaves which had dimensionals on the back.

I put dimesionals on the back of the Cinnamon Cider panel and adhered to a Thick Very Vanilla card base.

Love of Leaves bundle
#2

For the inside i stamped another leaf from the Love of Leaves stamp set, stamping off twice, onto Very Vanilla cs in Cinnamon Cider. I then stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in full strength in Cinnamon Cider. I should probably stamped the sentiment again ass the word ‘changes’ gets a bit lost in the leaf.. ugh.

Love of Leaves bundle #3

Using yet another leaf from the Love of Leaves stamp set, I stamped both the envelope flap and the front as well – in Cinnamon Cider.

This bundle can be found in the new Aug-Dec Mini 2020 catalog that goes live to customers Tue Aug 4. And when purchased as a bundle in lieu of individually, you save 10% I strongly encourage you to. put this on your wish list.

Bonus days are coming to an end soon – now through 3 Aug, just 3 days. That $5 coupon (s) should be eating a hole in your pocket… to use in Aug.

SU! Back On Your Feet Double Z Fold

Hi everyone ~ how’s it going? You doing OK? Some days during this self containment are easier than others, right? So, one day at a time just do the best you can; try not to look ahead too far cuz that can get you kinda crazy. Take the best care you can of yourself and family. Guess I’m feeling a bit philosophical this morning….

Todays card is for a friend who had surgery on their neck – a couple of fuses – and they are struggling, really struggling. I decided a little levity might be helpful and this is what I created.

Back On Your Feet Double Z Fold
#1`

Is this perfect for neck surgery or what! And it’s a double z fold which puts it up a couple of notches in being special. The World of Good Specialty DSP is perfect for this man as he has traveled around the world and then some. I doubt they will notice the significance but I certainly did while making this card.

Here are the products I used… card cuts are listed at the bottom of the post…

  • Back On Your Feet stamp set
  • Crumb Cake cs for the base of the larger Z and the smaller Z
  • Early Espresso cs for layering
  • World of Good Specialty DSP
  • Whisper White cs
  • Old World Paper 3D embossing folder
  • Stitched Rectangles Dies
  • Lovely Labels Pick a Punch
  • Wink of Stella
  • Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks
  • 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots, Cinnamon Cider

When I create a card like this, I do one portion at a time – one Z fold, then the other. You can cut everything and lay it out for efficiency, but I was still working out sizes for the smaller Z. Crumb Cake is the base of the card, layer the Early espresso for all three sections of the larger Z, then layer the World of Good Specialty DSP for the three sections. For the smaller Z, Crumb Cake cs was used for the card base layer, then Early Espresso cs for the first (or front) and last (or back) layers, then DSP on the first and Whisper White for the last (for sentiment). For the front layer, the DSP was run through the Old World Paper 3 D embossing folder. Gosh that embossing folder is amazing… You can see it very clearly in this photo.

Back On Your Feet Double Z fold
#2

I don’t adhere the Whisper White panel until I have the sentiment or design on cuz – you know, mistakes happen… lol. The turtle was stamped in Early Espresso ink. Then I took my Wink of Stella and colored in the shell only. This moved the ink around a bit and gave it some variety. Then I stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink.

Now that both Z folds are created I put them together… I lay the small one on to get an idea where it should sit on the larger Z. When the card is closed, we don’t want to see the last panel of the small Z at all. Once I have seen how it fits, I adhere the back panel first, then the front and it creates this wonderful Z. Take a peek at this photo from the top of the card.

That cute giraffe was stamped on Whisper White in Crumb Cake ink. I used the light Crumb Cake Blends to color in the spots very lightly, then covered the giraffe in Wink of Stella. Again, this moves the ink around a bit and colors the giraffe lightly. The giraffe was adhered with dimensionals. I then stamped the word OUCH! on a 1/2″ wide length of Whisper White in Early Espresso and cut the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. I added three 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots and attached with liquid glue.

The envelope flap was covered in the World of Good SDSP and then stamped on the front with the word SIGH… several times since this is such a long recovery. The card is complete and guess what – mine is already in the mail as we speak. How fast is that for a turn-around?

SU! Mini Gatefold

Hello there… Weather advisory for the East coast is to stay INSIDE today – it will feel like 104! Yeck!  Be safe…I have been doing doing several different fun folds lately and well, I just couldn’t stop… todays is a mini version, a little 3″ card for a grandson turning 20… Cannot believe he is 20! 6’4″ and handsome – oh my…I’m just a little bit prejudiced. 😍 Anyway, the card… This young man has come to expect something fun in the way of a card, not something you can buy at the store – yay.. getting them trained. :o) So here it is…

Mini Gate Fold
#1

Mini Gate Fold #2

Mini Gate Fold
#3

This is so cute – perhaps because it is small. And I just love the way the folds are… here it is from a another angle.

Mini Gate Fold
#4

Now you can really see all the folds. Here are the products used in this cute mini card:

  • Whale of a Tail DSP
  • Whisper White card base + belly band
  • Details Bands Dies – oval in Whisper White cs
  • Celebration Labels and Dies for the larger portion of the banner, Pacific Point cs
  • So Much Happy stamp set – balloons, fussy cut
  • A Grand Kid stamp set – front banner sentiment
  • Little Treats stamp set – inside sentiment
  • Pear Pizzazz and Pacific Point inks

Let’s see if I can tell you how to do this…

  • card stock base (Whisper White) is 3 x 6 scored at 1 1/2 and 4 1/2 on long side. Burnish well.
  • DSP panel (Whale of a Time) is 3 x 6. Mark center on the long side, at the top & bottom lightly with pencil. Fold from the top left to center bottom making a triangle – burnish and open. Fold from the left bottom to the center top making another triangle – burnish and open. Fold left portion to center, as in step one – burnish and open.
  • Do the same on the right side: right top to center bottom making a triangle, burnish and open. Right bottom to center top making a triangle, burnish and open. Right to center, burnish and open. It will look like picture #4 above even though it isn’t attached to anything yet. 😊
  • Cut a panel in Whisper White for inside sentiment, 2″ square. Stamp the sentiment from Little Treats stamp set in Pacific Point ink. Then stamp the party favors in Pear Pizzazz ink. Remember to stamp ON THE DIAGONAL. Adhere to the DSP.

Mini Gate Fold
#3

  • Now adhere adhere the DSP to the Whisper White card base: triangle on the left first making certain it is al the way to the edge. With the papers flat, adhere the center diagonal square then the right triangle.
  • Belly band: 1″ x about 7″ to go around in Whisper White, DSP is 3/4″ x about 7. Adhere the papers together and wrap around card. Secure in front with Tear n Tape. It should slide easily on and off the card.
  • Cut banner in Pacific Point using the smallest Celebration Labels & Dies. Put dimensionals on back and attach to belly band where it overlaps.
  • Stamp the banner sentiment from A Grand Kid in Pacific Point – off to the right side to allow room for the balloons. Cut with the oval from Detailed bands dies. Adhere with liquid glue to the Pacific Point banner.
  • Stamp balloons from the So Much Happy stamp set: one in Pacific point and one in Pear pizzazz. Fussy cut both. Adhere the larger with liquid glue and the smaller with a dimensional. Slide over the card and bingo this cute little mini is ready for giving.

I love this. Mini cards are just a different kind of treat and this one is extra special cuz it’s a Gate Fold.

That does it for today. Think about shopping during SU! Bonus Days. Items for this card are listed in the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog which goes live to customers 4 Aug. AND the 2020 – 2021Annual catalog. Don’t have a catalog or a demonstrator? Then talk to me and we can fix that 😁

SU! Wishes and Wonder Bundle

Hello… muggy day here even though it is 67 degrees. Of course it is not quite 5 AM either. Doomed to be a hot one. Yesterdays card was more ornate ~ todays is layered and more country, but still Christmas. It is a CASE of a card on the back of the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog.

Wishes & Wonder bundle
#1

Gosh, the picture is kinda dark… but I think you can see the many layers. I knew I wanted to play with the papers in ‘Tis the Season 6×6 DSP pack and I knew I wanted to use the stag again. I have used him before and he is so elegant. Anyway, staring me in the face was the back of the catalog and I just went for it… There are so many great dies in the North Pole Wonder Dies. I haven’t quite played with all of them yet, but it’s definitely in the cards 🙂

I started with the die that looks like a tag and die cut two of those, then went to the DSP again for a coordinating paper for the back drop. Love this plaid! I then die cut a single long leaf stem in Shaded Spruce, then played around with the ‘spray’ stamp. That I stamped in Crumb Cake on Whisper White and die cut with the coordinating circle. Notice how the tag has those jagged edges – like pinking shears? So does this particular circle! Gosh, I could go off on a tangent about pinking shears… they bring back so MANY memories. But.. the stag – one gorgeous animal… die cut from Brushed Metallic cs, not as shiny and bold as gold foil. I began layering, didn’t have papers cut yet ~ this off-center look is kinda fun, and then I put the tags together and off-centered them so both showed. They HAD to have a string ~ I found the 1/16″ Gold Cord from the Wonder of the Season Combo Pack and it brought in another element of sparkle that I like. OK, time to cut papers and put things together… and you can see the layering, all adhered with liquid glue. I debated with a banner, wasn’t sure I wanted anything more, but the card needed it…. stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink on a Whisper White scrap, added dimenionals and the card front was complete.  Card cuts are listed at the end of this post.

The inside was easy. I wanted it simple and stamped the sleigh from the Wishes & Wonder stamp set in Real Red on Whisper White. Adhered that to the inside and bingo, the card was done.

Wishes & Wonder
#2

While the sleigh was out I stamped it on the envelope front n- continuing with the Real Red ink. The envelope flap got another piece of the ‘Tis the Season 6×6 DSP. And that was it!

SU!Snow Wonder w/ Snow Time Dies

Hi Everyone! Hurricane Fay was in the area yesterday ~ dropped lots of rain and w-i-n-d-y. Thankfully no damage; some branches down but that’s about it. Whew! Today is Saturday and I’m calling it Snowman Saturday. Yep – Snowman… right after a hurricane, right? Ha! I was ready and wanting to play with the Snow Wonder stamp set and it’s coordinating Snow Time Dies. And I have created two cards for your cards for your pleasure. Let’s take a look.

Snow Wonder stamp set
Snow Time Dies
#1

Snow Wonder and Z Fold
#2

Aren’t these fun? Let me tell you about card #1 first… Seaside Spray card base is the standard 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 scored @ 4 1/4. Layer a Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4 panel that has been run through the Evergreen Forrest 3D embossing folder  (this is a stunning embossing folder!). I ruffled the edges with my scissors then adhered with Stampin Seal, but left the edges free. Next I stamped the snowman from the new Snow Wonder stamp set in stamped off once Tuxedo Black Memento ink, then colored him with our colored pencil: Granny Apple Green, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Pumpkin P{ie and Balmy Blue. Use the blender pen for the hat to smooth the lines of the pencil. Then die cut this with the Snow Time Dies and adhere with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White in Seaside Spray and die cut with the Snow Time Dies. I cut another banner out of Seaside Spray, cut it in half lengthwise and adhered to the back of the Whisper White. Put this on dimensionals as well and adhere to the card front. Add those sweet little Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes and the front is done.

Snow Wonder stamp set
#1a

For the inside I took another panel of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White and stamped the trees in Shaded Spruce, stamping off once on a scrap first. Then I stamped the sentiment in Seaside Spray, adhered this panel to the inside with liquid glue and done, done done.

Card #2 is a Z fold card again and is so much fun to do – so many options for variety. Just look at yesterday’s card that was a double Z fold to get an idea… anyway, today’s second card… Seaside Spray cut 4 1`/4 x 11 and scored at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2 on the long side. Highland Heather is 3 1/4 x 10 scored at 2 3/4 x 5 1/2. The Whisper White panels are 3 x 4 1/4 and (2) 3 x 2 1/2.

Snow Wonder stamp set #2a

The largest panel is the adorable snowman, colored just as card #1. I added the adorable adhesive- backed snowflakes then the sentiment stamped in Balmy Blue. These were just scraps. The next panel is Snowflake Splendor DSP (awesome DSP!).The wreath is stamped off once in Shaded Spruce and the ribbon highlighted with Wink of Stella. The sentiment comes from the Dove of Hope stamp set and stamped in Highland Heather. The bottom panel is from Snow Wonder stamp set in Seaside Spray. The snowflakes were stamped in Versamark then heat embossed in white. Once the embossing had cooled, I used a sponge to very lightly color the snowflakes with Seaside Spray. Adhere each of the white panels in the appropriate place on the Highland Heather Z fold. This gets adhered to the Seaside Spray, top panel first, but only a portion of it… center it on the SMALL section of the Seaside Spray and add liquid glue just to the upper  panel. Lay the entire card flat and adhere the bottom panel. And you are done! Wasn’t that easy? Two cards so different from the other but using the same stamp set. YAY!

Remember these are bonus days at Stampin! Up! For every $50 spent you will receive a $5 coupon to be redeemed in August. Bonus Days. Earn in July, spend in August.

SU! Guilded Autumn Specialty DSP, Double Z Fold

Hello… Today is Fun Fold Friday – at least for today anyway. Fun Folds can be complicated or easy, This one is pretty easy: it’s as though you are creating two cards, one smaller, and putting together. Let’s take a look…

Guilded Autumn Specialty DSP, Double z Fold #1

Is that fun or what? And beautiful? SU! has done it again with their gorgeous coordinating papers. These papers come from the Guilded Autumn Specialty DSP pack in the August ~ December 2020 Mini Catalog. If you want to know how to get your pack of these papers, contact me and we’ll connect!

Now let’s talk about how to put this card together:

  • Crumb Cake  is our card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4 on the long side; cut another piece for the smaller portion 3 3/4 x 6 1/4, score at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4 along the long side
  • Cut Early Espresso (2) 2 x 5 3/8  and 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 for the card base; for the smaller card cut Early Espresso (3) 1 7/8 x 3 5/8
  • Cut Specialty DSP (2) 1 7/8 x 5 1/4, 4 x 5 1/4; for the smaller card cut Specialty DSP (2) 1 3/4 x 3 1/2
  • Cut Very Vanilla 1 3/4 x 3 1/2
  • Stamp the sentiment on Very Vanilla using Early Espresso ink ~ mine is from Path of Petals stamp set
  • Adhere all Specialty DSP to the appropriate size Early Espresso.
  • Adhere these panels to their respective card bases, including the Very Vanilla sentiment panel
  • Adhere these to their respective card bases EXCEPT THE LARGEST PANEL.
  • Wrap a ribbon around the right edge of this largest panel and tie as knot. Adhere in back with glue dots and also under the knot. My ribbon is from the Guilded Autumn Suite and it is called Mint Macaron 1/2″ Basketweave Ribbon. It comes in a combo pack called the Basketweave Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack. Gorgeous! Now adhere this large panel into your card base.

Now it is time to adhere the two cards together.. I find it helpful to use my grid paper for placement.. This NOT difficult… place the smaller card in the center of the larger panel and adhere with liquid glue. TIP: I find it helpful to use my grid paper for centering.

Now close the card with the smaller, loose card flap coming over the top of the base card. Keeping the base card closed, adhere the loose panel with liquid glue. Bingo…

I used my Oval Dies to cut a scalloped oval out of Early espresso. Stamp the appropriate sentiment in Early Espresso ink on a panel of Very vanilla (mine is from Good Morning Magnolia stamp set) then die cut with another plain Oval Die. Adhere together with liquid glue. Put dimensionals on the back and attach to the small front card. YAY! Your card is complete and wonderful and ready to send. Mine is going to a family that I have worked with over the last 30 plus years that has done printing for me. The woman died after a very short illness. UGH! Loss is so hard, especially during these physically distant times….

Anyway, back to the card…  for the envelope I adhered a strip of Early Espresso then the additional Specialty DSP to the envelope flap and nothing else. I hope you try making this fun fold. I like all the layering… it adds a ton of elegance to the card.

SU! Gilded Autumn Suite

Hi Everyone – so excited to share today’s card. It is hot as blazes here on the East coast and just thinking fall makes me feel cooler… so here ya go…

Autumn Greetings stamp set
Autumn Punch Pack
#1

SU! does such a great job of coordinating and this product line is no exception. The Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP is gorgeous AND there are a couple of papers in that pack that have these fun images of leaves and acorns. I used the Autumn Punch Pack to punch out a bunch of them. I also used a die set from last years catalog that is still available called Gathered Leaves Dies. They were used to die cut three leaves out of Mint Macaron that forms the beginning point of my wreath.

I’ll back up just a bit… Whisper White cs 4 x 5 1/4; die cut a circle with the Circle framelits (I used second to largest). This is your basis for the wreath! While I didn’t do it this time, I would suggest running this panel through the Subtle embossing folder to create a wonderful textured background. Then simply begin layering, beginning with those three die cut leaves. I used liquid glue to adhere all these, curling each one a bit as I went along. Once I completed the wreath, I made a fun bow with Linen Thread and attached that very sweet Acorn Trinket from the suite.  Next I took a piece of the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP and cut it to fit behind the open circle. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso using the Autumn Greeting stamp set and adhered that panel with liquid glue. This was glued to a piece of Early espresso 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, then adhered to the Terracotta Tile card front (4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2). I adhered two Early Espresso strips to the card front and trimmed the ends. These were simply in my stash.

For the inside, I took a 3 3/4 x 5 panel of Whisper White and Mint Macaron ink to stamp the sweet leaves from the Autumn Greetings stamp set. This was adhered to another panel of Early Espresso cs 4 x 5 1/4 and glued in place to complete the card.

Autumn Greetings stamp set
#2

The envelope got the same treatment of leaves for the card front and the flap got special detail. I ran the Early Espresso 2 1/4 x 6 through the Greenery embossing folder, glued in place on the flap and trimmed it to fit. Voila! Obviously I’m not mailing this one just yet… out of season. But it’s ready to send to someone special.

I couldn’t help myself – got working and made 4 cards! I wanted to do a One Sheet Wonder with  6×6 paper, so the ‘Tis the Season 6×6 DSP in this suite was perfect for that. Here are the four cards…

Wonder of the Season Suite

Here are the measurements I used for the One Sheet Wonder:

  • 1 1/2 x 5 1/2
  • 3 x 3
  • 3 x 1 (three of these cut directly under the 3 x 3)
  • that leaves a strip 1 1/2 wide… make four 1 1/2″ squares ~ bingo, four cards!

Card #1

Wishes & Wonder stamp set
North Pole Wonder Dies #1

I used the 3 x 1 strips adhered to a panel of Cherry Cobbler 3 1/4 x 3 1/2. Additional papers used were Garden Green and Shaded Spruce for the pines, Gold foil for the stag, 3/4″ x about 5″ Cherry Cobbler for the sentiment banner (the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch was used after heat embossing the sentiment), Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack using the Gold trim, and let’s see, Cherry Cobbler ink for the circle element. This stag is stunning!

Card #2

Cherish The Season stamp set
Sounds of the Season Dies
#2

For this card, the obvious is the 1 1/2″ x 5″ strip adhered to Cherry Cobbler 1 5/8″ x 5 1/2″. The pines were stamped in Garden Green, bells die cut rom Gold Foil sheet, pine die cuts from Shaded Spruce, ribbon is Real Red Sheer 3/8″ and finally Red Rhinestone Gems. I think this is my favorite card of the four – love those bells!

Card #3

Wishes & Wonder stamp set
North Pole Wonder Dies
#3

This ribbon makes the most awesome bows! It is part of the Suite – Ribbon Combo Pack in Shaded Spruce; it’s called Argyle Stain Ribbon. Cherry Cobbler is cut 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, also the banner under the sleigh is 3/4″ by probably 4 1/2″ before using the new Banners Pick A Punch to trim the ends. The sleigh is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and I added Wonderful Gems in Real Red. Also is the Gold 1/8″ cord from the same Ribbon Combo Pack. I wanted it to look like reins!

Card #4

Wonder * Wishes stamp set
North Pole Wonder Dies
stag from the Wonder of The Season Memories & More Card Pack
#4

This card uses the four  1 1/2″ squares, more of the 1″ Argyle Satin Ribbon, stamped circle using Cherry Cobbler ink and the North Pole Wonder Dies to cut out. The stag is a sticker – yes, a sticker… from the Wonder of The Season Memories & More Card Pack. The background is a Whisper White panel run through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. I really like this embossing folder!

Stampin’ Up! and DSP

Hi everyone! Monday, Monday – do you remember that song? Don’t ask me why but it’s rumbling through my brain. Goodness… Today’s card is super simple… a show-off of a DSP and some ribbon, a little of this and that. I like the color combo, the simplicity of it and the fact it could serve so many purposes AND that it shows off both sides of the DSP. Let’s take a look…

2020-2022 In Color 6×6 DSP
#1

Here are the supplies needed to make this quickie:

  • Misty Moonlight cs and ink
  • Bumblebee cs
  • Whisper White cs
  • 2020-2022 In Color 6×6 DSP – Misty Moonlight
  • Elegant Faceted Germs
  • Bumblebee Gingham 1/4″ Ribbon
  • Many Mates stamp set
  • Hooray To You stamp set
  • Ornate Frames Dies

That seems like a long list of supplies, but once the cs is cut, this card will go together licekety-split. Let me tell you how to do it…

Misty Moonlight cs is the card base cut 8 1/2 x 5 12 then scored at 4 1/4. Remove 3 1/4 of what should be the front of the card, so that 1″ is left beyond the score line. Cut the DSP 4 x 5 1/2. Lay the DSP inside the card, folding the 1″ section over it. Now use the adhesive (I used the new Stampin Seal) to run down the far left side of the DSP and the outer rim of the 1″ fold-over. Making certain the edges of the DSP align with the back of the card, close the 1″ fold-over so it adheres to the DSP. Voila! Now add all the fun stuff to make this card special…

Stamp the sentiment from Many Mates stamp set with Misty Moonlight ink onto a Whisper White scrap. Use the Ornate Frames Dies to cut it into a banner then cut another banner out of Bumblebee. The Whisper White banner gets dimensionals and is attached to the Bumblebee banner. Add the Elegant Faceted Gems – I used the white gems, the larger in the center and smaller ones on either side. These are so neat!  Add dimesnionals to the Bumblebee piece as well but set it aside while fussing with the Bumblebee Gingham 1/4″ ribbon. Here’s my TIP for the ribbon: Don’t cut it just yet; lay it where you think you might want it and run just a tiny bit of Stampin Seal to adhere the one section of the ribbon. I try to work the ribbon in about a 2″ space horizontally on the card. Attach as you get the placement just right.  Since Stampin Seal is used on both sides of the ribbon, use very small amounts in order to move it where you want it without tearing the paper – don’t press it down too firmly either. Get the ribbon the way you like it, then place the banner over top and sort of centered on the DSP. Since the banner is on dimensionals, it allows the ribbon bit of give. Now cut the ribbon – and woohoo, your card front is done!

The inside is a Whisper White panel 4 x 5 1/4, with a 1/2″ strip of the same DSP across the bottom. Add the sentiment using Misty Moonlight ink and the Hooray To You stamp set. Adhere the panel with liquid glue to the inside of your card and the card is done…

#2

The envelope gets a bit of stamping from the Hooray To You stamp set and a bit of DSP as well. And that’s it!
