SU! Daisy Delight – Sympathy Card

Hi Everyone – I haven’t posted in a couple of days… lost a dear friend to complications of Covid 19 and well, it just stinks… know what I mean? She was misdiagnosed initially and therefore didn’t get any treatment for longer than necessary. And that’s disappointing on many fronts. She was a gentle soul.

The card today is being sent to her family. Besides being church buddies, we also belonged to a women’s organization together. This card symbolizes some of that organization. And I find the card uplifting and hope the family does as well.

Daisy Lane – Sympathy

It starts with a panel of Whisper White and I have adhered a strip of Subtles 6×6 DSP in So Saffron. On either side I have used the Ornate Borders Dies to die cut a beautiful trim, again from So Saffron, which also is adhered to the Whisper White panel with liquid glue. I then ran this entire panel through the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I haven’t done this before – where I added layers to a card front and ran it all through an embossing folder, but I love the look! You may see this again in the near future 🙂

Next I took a piece of the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo pack (Whisper White 1/2″ Faux Linen Ribbon) and adhered it with Stampin’ Seal, right through the middle of the DSP strip. Then I added a length of the 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon in Bumblebee over that. This was attached with Stampin Seal in the back only. Then I added the daisy which was stamped from the Daisy Lane stamp set on Whisper White with So Saffron ink. I stamped twice and punched them both with the Daisy Punch. I curled the petals downward using a gentle touch with the bone folder. These were layered together with liquid glue, then two dimensionals together on the back and onto the card front. The center of the daisy got these awesome Beaded Pearls that add a really finished and elegant touch. I made a bow from the same 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon and adhered it with a glue dot.

Daisy Lane – Sympathy

The sentiment comes from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set and was stamped in Memento Black ink on Whisper White and fussy cut. I cut down several dimensionals into strips and adhered them to the back of the sentiment and added it to the card front. This entire Whisper White panel was adhered to a slightly larger panel of So Saffron card stock. Dimensionals were added to it and on it went to the Thick Whisper White card base.

For the inside I stamped the large daisy from the Daisy Lane stamp set in So Saffron, stamping off at least once, onto the center of the Whisper White panel. Right on top of that I stamped the sentiment from Woven Heirlooms stamp set in Memento Black ink. This Whisper White panel was adhered to another piece of So Saffron with liquid glue then onto the inside of the card base. And voila – the card was complete!

Daisy Lane – Sympathy
inside

For the envelope I took a piece of So Saffron cs and ran it through the Ornate Flowers 3D Embossing Folder then added it to the envelope flap. For the envelope front I stamped the smaller daisy from the Daisy Lane stamp set in stamped off once So Saffron ink. Done, done. AND ready to be sent to my friends family.

SU! New…Cut and Emboss Machine/ Recruiting Details

This is the new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and it works like a D-R-E-A-M…Due to the machine’s solid steel construction frame, the tightness and effectiveness of the cutting and embossing will remain intact over time. The precise pressure designed and engineered into the machine results in crisp, clean, and precise cutting along with beautifully detailed embossing. It also has a small footprint, ergonomic carrying handle, easy rotating handle for comfort in use, and strategically designed platform for superior control. The best part is that all this value is offered at a great price!

Here’s a picture of how this new machine looks open, in use and closed. There is also a picture of the Mini Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, but it is not yet available for purchase – not even for demonstrators.

Starting 1 September the Magnetic Cutting Plate becomes available to customers AND demonstrators. It is not required for use with the new machine

but is great to incorporate into the die-cutting experience. It is a thin, fully magnetic sheet with a self-healing cutting surface and holds dies securely in place, even nested dies. This slim, portable sheet replaces a Cutting Plate in your sandwich.

SU! Hooray to You

Hi Everyone! How was your Saturday? Ours was FABULOUS… our family got together!!! No, we didn’t touch (not even hug our Grands 😞)…. we were outside… and we had lots of laughs and giggles… it was great fun.  Sigh – I am truly blessed… thank you God, for my family.

OK – today’s card… I was kind of on a roll making birthday cards and pulled out the Hooray To You stamp set. I have to say, this was inspired by an incredible Demonstrator, Mary Deatherage. I don’t remember her card very well, but I do remember she popped up a portion of the balloon. That’s all I remember about it though. So, here’s my ‘take’ for this card.

Hooray To You

Very girlie, girlie, isn’t it? There’s a bit too much white space for my liking, but the Magenta Madness is bright and cheerful and happy looking. And… I love all the little bitty pearls :O)

Hooray To You

I like using my Stamparatus for keeping things straight – and this is a big stamp, so that’s what I used – with Magenta Madness ink on Whisper White cs.  And I stamped two of them, then cut down one of them, went over several of the little flowers with Wink of Stella for some glitz, then added Pearls Basic Jewels. The strip got dimesnionals and was placed over the larger balloon, matching the edges and flowers. I added Wink of Stella to several of the flowers beyond the strip then another Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of the bow. This panel was adhered to  Magenta Madness cs with liquid glue. I stamped the ‘TO YOU’ sentiment from the Hooray To You stamp set and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch, put dimesnionals on the back and added it just under the larger strip. Then I trimmed the banner at the one end. Almost done… The Magenta Madness got dimensionals and attached to Thick Whisper White card base.

So simple and very girlie… what do you think? I’ll be honest, I haven’t completed the inside yet. I did adhere another panel of Magenta Madness cs to the inside, but I’m not sure what I want to do for the inside yet. For now, that’s it…

Hooray To You

SU! The Right Triangle

Hello everyone – how are you doing? It’s back to heat and humidity today – and here for two whole days I was enjoying very low humidity and wonderfully lightly cool temps. Oh well, such is nature. I’ve been playing with triangles again… this time just The Right Triangles stamp set. Each right triangle has a different pattern in it, so I took several and also played with bright colors. Here it is…

The Right Triangle

The person I made this for loves color and pattern and since this stamp set was out, well, I played. The green is a bit ‘heavy’, maybe in the wrong place, but otherwise I kinda like it. It certainly isn’t my normal card!

Here are the ink colors I used… Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, and Melon Mambo.. The scripty sentiment is from the Posted For You stamp set and the block ‘TO YOU” is from Hooray To You stamp set. They were stamped on a Whisper White panel – and I used my Stamparatus to make sure everything stayed straight. The Whisper White panel was adhered to Artistry Blooms DSP with liquid glue. Then I took ribbons from The Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo pack and adhered them to the top of the card with Stampin Seal. I created a bow and adhered that with a glue dot.. This then was adhered to a Highland Heather card base with Stampin Seal.

For the inside I took another panel of the Artistry Blooms DSP and adhered it to the card base with liquid glue. I took another panel of Whisper White and stamped the ‘confetti’ in Highland Heather ink and the sentiment in Melon Mambo. Both are from the Hooray to You stamp set. This was adhered to the inside with liquid glue and the card was complete. As I said, not my usual kind of card but it will be perfect for the person it is intended.

SU! So Much Happy/ Warm Hugs

Hi Everyone – gosh it is a gorgeous day today… cooler than it has been with a light breeze… this is easy to take. Remember my S-I-L who shattered his elbow? (He’s progressing very well BTW) His birthday was yesterday and I created a fun little gift bag for him using the Warm Hugs bundle, So Much Happy bundle and the Celebration Labels Dies. Let’s take a look at the final product…

Warm Hugs/ So Much Happy gift
#1

He’s a bit of a coffee person and this set just jumped out at me as a perfect little gift for him. He also loves peanut M & Ms – so…. the Heartwarming Hugs Suite is just right. It can be found on pg 8-10 in the Aug- Dec 2020 Mini catalog.

I began by putting the Mini Coffee Carrier together – just unfold and crease… no glue, nothing. But then I decided to fancy it up a bit. I covered the base with some of the Heartwarming Hugs DSP. Then I took a strip of In Good Taste DSP and adhered that over it with liquid glue. I also added a length of Early Espresso 1/4″ Faux Suede Ribbon with Tear ‘n Tape, then included a bow with a glue dot. I did the same on the back side without including the bow.

Next I took the Warm Wraps Dies and die cut the various pieces to create a trim around the Mini Coffee Cup. I used the same In Good Taste DSP for the large pieces, then the scallops were die cut from Soft Suede cs. I put these together with liquid glue then slid it onto the cup. Once I had the wrap where I wanted it I slid it down just a bit and drizzled in a bit of liquid glue and slid the wrap back into place again. This keeps it from falling off :O)

Then I did the tag for the cup… circle is die cut from Soft Suede cs, the hexagon in Whisper White. Before die cutting the hexagon, I stamped the the sentiment in Crumb Cake, then the hexagon stamp in Soft Suede. TIP: I had stamped these in reverse order and didn’t get the sentiment centered correctly in the hexagon, disappointment! There a redo…The hexagon is more open and therefore you can see better to center it over the circle sentiment. easy peasy… Die cut the stamped hexagon and affix it to the Soft Suede circle with dimensionals. This then was adhered to the cup also with dimensionals. And bingo the cup was ready. I filled a Gusseted Cellophane Bag with the peanut M & Ms and tied it with Real Red 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim and put it in the other part of the coffee carrier. Cute, right? I then created another tag, this time the circle was die cut in Mossy Meadow cs. Before die cutting the hexagon, I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink and the hexagon stamp in Mossy Meadow ink. It was then attached to the coffee carrier with dimesnionals.

I put all of this (plus the coffee beans) in a Stampin’ Up! cello bag that I had in my stash as a demonstrator. And of course it needed a large something to hold it together…. out came the Celebration Labels Dies  – so perfect! I first cut one in the same In Good Taste DSP then another in Soft Suede cs. I then took the Happy Dies and die cut the word HAPPY from the In Good Taste label. Next I stamped the word birthday from the So Much Happy stamp set in Soft Suede ink. This panel was adhered onto the Soft Suede label and it clearly shows through just as I wanted – yay! Then I stapled it all together over the cello bag. Voila! And by the way – he loved it!!!

SU! Celebrate Sunflowers Duo

Hi folks! Today I’m sharing a card and ‘tot’ with you using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle – which means using the Sunflower Dies AND the stamp set. I can’t stand it, these are so pretty…

All Dressed Up tote

Celebrate Sunflowers card

So much fun to create! And the dies and stamp set make it so easy… For the tote: Begin by Die cutting the tote using the All Dressed Up Dies. This is die cut from Flirty Flamingo. Remember you have to die cut two and put them together. Then die cut the straps and do two of those as well. I sponged the edges of the tote in Flirty Flamingo to give it some depth. It doesn’t really show in the picture, but it does make a difference. Once the tote is put together, set it aside and create the sunflower: stamp the sunflower in Flirty Flamingo ink on Whisper White cs and die cut with the outline die. Die cut the full sunflower in Petal Pink and using a sponge dauber, ‘color’ with Flirty Flamingo. I also used my Wink of Stella and covered the petals only.  Color the center area with Stampin’ Blends using both light and dark Crumb Cake. Die cut the tiny center out of Crumb Cake cs and sponge the edges of this with Crumb Cake and adhere with dimensionals. Add three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots. Adhere the finely detailed Sunflower die cut to the outline die cut, lining up the edges so they match or not. (It gives it a different look if it isn’t lined up and I like it both ways. This one is lined up.) I used liquid glue and just adhered the larger center area leaving the petals loose/ free. Die cut the leaves in Just Jade – you can see I did several. Adhere the leaves to the back of the Sunflower die cut, then adhere to the front of the tote with liquid glue. Tie a length of the 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle ribbon in a knot to one one of the straps. Then I tied a bow out of the 1/2″ Whisper White Faux Linen Ribbon and adhered with a glue dot. Love this – so feminine and so cute!

The card… Die cut a panel of the Flowers for Every Season 6×6 DSP using the die from the Ornate Layers Dies. This creates a beautiful feminine background for this sunflower. This was adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base (4 1/4 x 11). Another piece of the DSP was cut using the Stitched Rectangles Dies to create another layer and fun background. Next I stamped the sunflower in Memento black in on panel of Whisper White cs and die cut using the Stitched Squares dies. Color with both the light and dark Flirty Flamingo Blends.Notice it is lightly colored with lots of white showing. This gives it wonderful depth and really makes it more realistic. And I actually stamped two sunflowers and after coloring cut into one of them and added it to the Square one using dimensionals. I die cut the detailed sunflower from Flirty Flamingo and used the outline die cut to create a vellum background. I adhered the detailed die cut to the vellum, retaining a few of the petal insets and adhered those with liquid glue. The sunflower was adhered to the card front with liquid glue then the square one with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set in Memento black ink, cut it apart and adhered it with dimensionals. Love this look!

Celebrate Sunflowers closeup

For the inside I stamped several leaves in Just Jade ink on a Whisper White panel (4 x 5 1/4) and adhered that to Just Jade (4 1/8 x 5 3/8) and then into the card base. While the stamp was out I stamped the envelope front and flap continuing in the Just Jade ink.

SU! Tasteful Touches

Hi Everyone – I tried something new for me today – does that surprise anyone? Maybe we shouldn’t go there… I saw a video by Kylie Bertucci, a very creative demonstrator from Australia and had to her ideas a ‘go’. Here’s the completed card…

Tasteful Touchers – Feather
#1

Can you see the sparkly on the background? It’s sprinkled embossing powder! This is done on Basic Gray cs and I love the look. So here’s what I did… First, swipe the card stock with your embossing buddy to remove static and create a ‘clean’ surface. I tapped the Versamark ink pad around the perimeter of the card stock – no need to do the center since it was to be covered. Then I sprinkled the silver embossing powder with my fingers, keeping the powder light and not clumping or globbing – then I heat set it. Fun look. Yes, I SHOULD HAVE taken a picture at that stage – but didn’t really think about it until just now 😳 well – silly me…

The rest of this card is so very simple: using the feather image from the  Tasteful Touches stamp set, stamp randomly in stamped off once Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock. I then took a sponge dauber and Gorgeous Grape and did very light sponging on the feathers. I love this color and it gives the feathers a totally different look. This was mounted on Gorgeous Grape card stock with liquid glue. I wrapped a length of the Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding around these two pieces and tied a knot. I put dimensionals on the back and mounted it on the silver sprinkled, heat embossed panel of Basic Gray. This then was adhered to a panel of Whisper White with liquid glue. This was adhered to the Basic Gray card base. As the final step, I took a 5/8″ strip of Basic Gray, rubbed it with the embossing buddy then stamped the sentiment from the In The Pines stamp set in Versamark. I sprinkled it with silver embossing powder then heat set it. The final length is about 2″. This strip got dimensionals and was placed over the ribbon.

The inside is even simpler yet – a single stamped feather in several times stamped off Basic Gray ink on a Whisper White panel. This was mounted directly to the card base with liquid glue.

Tasteful Touches – inside
#2

I started the main panel with the feathers as a larger piece. Once I cut it down to the size I wanted I saved the strips and adhered one of those to the envelope front. And that was it – the card was complete. This could so easily be a masculine card. It IS however, going to a young woman who is battling cancer – and loves purple. It will be gone by the time you read this post.

SU! Dog Builder Punch and Playful Pets DSP

Hi Everyone. It has been so stiflingly hot lately – the humidity is super high and it just makes it real uncomfortable to have to be outside. I feel so fortunate to have air conditioning – didn’t grow up with it and I remember those days… Let’s see, I told about our S-I-L shattering his elbow in a cycling accident. He’s home now, good spirits and positive attitude. So so thankful for so many things. There does not appear to be nerve damage; he can move all his fingers! Essentially they had to remove the elbow – now he has three metal plates instead… what they can do now is just amazing. So thankful – God was at work (and continues to be!) throughout this in so many ways.

Card for today… for a friend whose dog passed away recently. Pets are such an important part of our lives… and she had this fella 18 years, longer than most.

Playful Pets DSP and Dog Builder Punch
#1

The card base is Gray Granite… layer Real Read then the Playful Pets DSP. This layer has dimensionals. The banners were punched with the Banners Pick a Punch. Those little paws and hearts in the DSP are just sweet, aren’t they? The dog is punched with the Dog Builder punch in Basic Black cs and he’s on dimensional too. I tied a piece of crochet yarn around that little doggies neck before attaching him to the card front.(I know, not a SU! item…) And that heart is part of the punch – and it’s in Real Red. Those little Black Rhinestone Jewels are a retired item (unfortunately!) The ‘Thinking of You’ sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.

SU! Prized Peony

Hi Everyone! Things have gotten a bit complicated here… it’s called the “concern zone” but it’s nothing to take lightly… our S-I-L is a competitive cyclist (first in the country in his age group last year and several years prior – so, GOOD at it) and has been practicing inside for the past several months – at least since March. He ventured out about 1 1/2 weeks ago, riding 3 hrs, going at 50 mph speeds. Yeah, not something I would ever do… At any rate, he joined a new team recently and they went for a ride Sunday; didn’t touch, fist bump or anything. These guys are cautious and careful.. And guess what… he hit a nasty pothole and went boom… shattered his right elbow. Surgery was today – 4 1/2 hrs long…It’s complicated due to the nerves that run down the elbow, bone fragments and all that. Anyway – appreciate your prayers for him – and our daughter who has been so strong..,.He’s a dentist by vocation and this is a real setback for them, with Covid 19 and all that. So yes, I am one concerned M-I-L trying to stay calm, cool and collected :O)

Prized Peony
#1

Todays card uses the Prized Peony stamp set and the gorgeous Peony Garden DSP. And while I don’t usually enter challenges, this one is loosely based on the Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #344 (HSSSC344). I tuned it sideways…

Elements for this card:

  • Prized Peony stamp set
  • Peony Garden DSP
  • Gray Granite cs – card base
  • Petal Pink cs – layering
  • Whisper White cs – circle and inside
  • Gray Granite ink
  • Petal Pink ink
  • Wink of Stella
  • North Pole Wonder Dies
  • Crinkled Seam Binding 1/4″ Whisper White
  • Elegant Faceted Gems

Layer the Peony Garden DSP on Petal Pink cs for the front and adhere with liquid glue.Stamp the small peony from the Prized Peony stamp set in Petal Pink and color in Wink of Stella. Die cut using the North Pole Wonder Dies circle. Die cut the pinked circle from the same die set using Whisper White cs. Adhere the two circles together with liquid glue and add dimesnionals: attach. Add a bow from the Crinkled Seam Binding !/4″ Whisper White ribbon with a glue dot. Add three Elegant Faceted Gems in Petal Pink.Your card front is complete!

Prized Peony, inside
#2

For the inside, I adhered Petal Pink cs for a layer then stamped the Whisper White panel with the medium peony from the stamp set in Gray Granite stamped off once. I also stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite from the Prized Peony stamp set. Adhere with liquid glue to the Petal Pink panel. And your inside is complete as well.

For the envelope, I used another strip of the Peony Garden DSP for the flap and stamped the front with the same medium peony in Gray Granite ink. So simple, so elegant – and ready. :O)

SU! Back On Your Feet Double Z Fold

Hi everyone ~ how’s it going? You doing OK? Some days during this self containment are easier than others, right? So, one day at a time just do the best you can; try not to look ahead too far cuz that can get you kinda crazy. Take the best care you can of yourself and family. Guess I’m feeling a bit philosophical this morning….

Todays card is for a friend who had surgery on their neck – a couple of fuses – and they are struggling, really struggling. I decided a little levity might be helpful and this is what I created.

Back On Your Feet Double Z Fold
#1`

Is this perfect for neck surgery or what! And it’s a double z fold which puts it up a couple of notches in being special. The World of Good Specialty DSP is perfect for this man as he has traveled around the world and then some. I doubt they will notice the significance but I certainly did while making this card.

Here are the products I used… card cuts are listed at the bottom of the post…

  • Back On Your Feet stamp set
  • Crumb Cake cs for the base of the larger Z and the smaller Z
  • Early Espresso cs for layering
  • World of Good Specialty DSP
  • Whisper White cs
  • Old World Paper 3D embossing folder
  • Stitched Rectangles Dies
  • Lovely Labels Pick a Punch
  • Wink of Stella
  • Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks

When I create a card like this, I do one portion at a time – one Z fold, then the other. You can cut everything and lay it out for efficiency, but I was still working out sizes for the smaller Z. Crumb Cake is the base of the card, layer the Early espresso for all three sections of the larger Z, then layer the World of Good Specialty DSP for the three sections. For the smaller Z, Crumb Cake cs was used for the card base layer, then Early Espresso cs for the first (or front) and last (or back) layers, then DSP on the first and Whisper White for the last (for sentiment). For the front layer, the DSP was run through the Old World Paper 3 D embossing folder. Gosh that embossing folder is amazing… You can see it very clearly in this photo.

I don’t adhere the Whisper White panel until I have the sentiment or design on cuz – you know, mistakes happen… lol. The turtle was stamped in Early Espresso ink. Then I took my Wink of Stella and colored in the shell only. This moved the ink around a bit and gave it some variety. Then I stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink.

Now that both Z folds are created I put them together… I lay the small one on to get an idea where it should sit on the larger Z. When the card is closed, we don’t want to see the last panel of the small Z at all. Once I have seen how it fits, I adhere the back panel first, then the front and it creates this wonderful Z. Take a peek at this photo from the top of the card.

That cute giraffe was stamped on Whisper White in Crumb Cake ink. I used the light Crumb Cake Blends to color in the spots very lightly, then covered the giraffe in Wink of Stella. Again, this moves the ink around a bit and colors the giraffe lightly. The giraffe was adhered with dimensionals. I then stamped the word OUCH! on a 1/2″ wide length of Whisper White in Early Espresso and cut the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. I added three 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots and attached with liquid glue.

The envelope flap was covered in the World of Good SDSP and then stamped on the front with the word SIGH… several times since this is such a long recovery. The card is complete and guess what – mine is already in the mail as we speak. How fast is that for a turn-around?
