Stampin’ Up! Joy of Noel and Layers

Good morning! I’m away right now, attending a convention that has nothing to do with Stampin’ Up!. Can you imagine? :O) The convention is in Pittsburgh, a city of bridges. I learned yesterday Pittsburgh has more bridges than Venice, France, numbering 463 (I think that’s the right number). And they are all so different. But this post isn’t about Pittsburgh, this is a post about today’s creation.

Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel

This card has lots of layers using the Joy of Christmas 12×12 DSP. It is beautiful. You can see I used three different designer series papers, with the very top one as kind of a background piece for the sentiment banner. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to make the pointy ends. It’s hard to pick a favorite of these papers. Prior to adhering this strip to the card front, I wrapped it in Metallic Woven Ribbon in Parakeet Party. There are so many shades of green in this paper, this ribbon just adds a sparkle of fun.

The sentiment is stamped using Joy of Noel stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on a Basic White panel that was then die cut with Something Fancy Dies. I used Gold Holly Leaves and Loose Holly Gems to decorate the banner. Attached with Stampin’ Seal to the basck of the banner is a Pine bough die cut from Shaded Spruce card stock using a die from Joy of Noel dies. I’m thinking a gold foil pine bough might have been nice as well.

The layers of the card are…

  • Shaded Spruce card base 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2
  • Cherry Cobbler 4 x 5 1/4 adhered directly to the card base.
  • Basic White 3 3/4 x 5 adhered to Joy of Christmas DSP 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, dimensionals on the Basic White and centered onto the card front
  • Basic White 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 and Joy of Christmas DSP 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 adhered together, dimensionals on the Basic White and again centered onto the card front.
  • The bannered piece is 3/4 x 4 1/4, trimmed with the Banners Pick A Punch, wrapped in the Metallic Woven Ribbon and adhered with adhesive.
  • The sentiment banner is attached with dimensionals.
Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel, inside

For the inside… Cherry Cobbler layer (4 x 5 1/4) adhered to the card base; the Basic White panel (3 3/4 x 5) is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and Shaded Spruce ink using stamps from the Joy of Noel stamp set then added to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel card & envelope

The envelope got more of this gorgeous Joy of Christmas DSP adhered to the flap and trimmed to fit. On the envelope front, I stamped two holly sprigs in Shaded Spruce ink then added tiny dots of Pearlized Enamel Effects. This needed to be set aside to dry so the Enamel Effects doesn’t smear. Love this card and envelope and hope you do as well.

Stampin’ Up! Watercoloring for the Happy Inkin’ Thursdsay Blog Hop

Welcome to this weeks Blog Hop and a new color challenge! And this was a definite challenge for me. :O) These color combinations were different – and yet, went together.

Stampin' Up! Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop
Stampin' Up! Blog Color Challenge
Stampin' Up! Watercoloring w/ Autumn Leaves stamp set

I started with a panel of Watercolor Paper, wet it with my Water Painter, then began adding color: Wild Wheat, then Calypso Coral overlapping it somewhat, and Poppy Parade. I dropped water droplets with the Water Painter then heat set it with the Heat Tool. I pulled out the Autumn Leaves stamp set and one of the vein stamps and began stamping, turning the stamp to give an over-all pattern. Again, using the same ink colors and cleaning the stamp in between colors: Wild Wheat, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade. Before adhering this panel to the Wild Wheat card base, I stamped along the one edge in Wild Wheat ink using a similar vein stamp in the Autumn Leaves stamp set. I then tore the edge of the Watercolor Paper and adhered it to the card base.

Using my scissors and the Textured Ribbon in Wild Wheat, I cut strips to make the ribbon thinner and to give a morre rustic look. I add a length of Black Bakers Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack that I had also separated. I ‘looped’ a bow, attaching it with Stampin’ Seal. ‘Looping’ it means there is no bulky knot :O) I then used a length of Mossy Meadow card stock stamping it in VersaMark ink, sprinkling it with White Embossing Powder and heat set the sentiment with the Heat Tool. The sentiment comes from the Go To Greetings stamp set. I trimmed the one end and attached the banner over the bow with dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Autumn Leaves stamp set

For the inside… A panel of Mossy Meadow card stock was adhered to the card inside. On a Basic White panel I stamped these two leaves from Autumn Leaves stamp set: stamped off Wild Wheat then sponge daubered with Calypso Coral. The vein was stamped in Wild Wheat.

Stampin' Up! Watercoloring with Autumn Leaves stamp set

For the envelope… the very same vein stamp from Autumn Leaves stamp set for the envelope front, stamped off once in Wild Wheat ink.

The Autumn Leaves stamp set is a new favorite and can be found in the Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog. You may shop with me in that catalog by clicking the photo and it will take you straight to it!

Stampin’ Up! Shining Christmas Gift Bag

Good Tuesday! I finally got out my winter bathrobe today – 55 degrees this morning. Chilly. As you know I have been making Christmas cards for a bit. Today is not a card but a cute gift bag and yes, for Christmas. This bag uses the Shining Christmas 12×12 SDSP, one of the Special Release Designer Series Papers in the SU! ONLINE EXCLUSIVES (only available while supplies last!)

Stampin' Up! Shining Christmas Gift Bag

I used another new product on this card to create a portion of the tag… the Sparkling Snowflakes Tag Topper. It’s a punch and you can see it here in Cherry Cobbler card stock. The cute little trees come from the Wishes All Around stamp set and are stamped in Mossy Meadow ink. I used Festive Pearls in Cherry Cobbler to top them. The sentiment is on a Basic White piece stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and uses the Wishes All Around stamp set. The tag layers are Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler and Basic White and are adhered with liquid glue to the gift box. But I get ahead of myself.

Let’s make the bag!

  • Shining Christmas SDSP cut 6 x 12
    • score on the long side 1 1/2, 5 3/4, 7 1/4 and 11 1/2
    • score on the short side 1 1/2 and 5 1/2
  • Burnish gently
  • On the long sides, cut along score lines to the short side score lines
  • add tape to the 11 1/2 scored area

I should have taken more pictures! This is NOT going to make sense without more instruction… I’ll do this again with complete photos. Ugh. Enjoy the looks of the bag and I’ll create another with more complete instructions. It will be next week though – just FYI.

Bag is tied together with Metallic Woven Ribbon in Parakeet Party. I love the added sparkle and it blends perfectly with the Mossy Meadow. This is a side view of the bag, so you can see it is not super wide, but it does have about a 1 1/2″ base, so perfect for a pair of sox or something similar.

Stampin’n Up! September Paper Pumpkin

Good morning! My new Paper Pumpkin arrived Saturday and I was excited to put this kit together. The colors are gorgeous and the extra die cuts are just beautiful. The cards are 3″ size with a stunning inside decorated envelope. I could easily have taken one of the envelopes apart & used it to make a full size card, but I needed this size – and so, no alternatives! The gift boxes are pretty too.Eight gift card with envelopes & eight gift boxes. How perfect is that!

Stampin' Up! September PP

Just look at this gorgeousness: the gold die cut leaves, then the more leaves and two pumpkins – all for each card. I followed the instructions, stamped with Lost Lagoon ink sent with the kit, then added the die cuts. There were choices for a sentiment as well and since Thank you is what I needed, that is what I stamped :O)

Stampin' Up! September PP gift boxes

These gift boxes stand 5″ tall with a 2″ depth, son plenty of room for a variety of goodies. I embellished these with bows: Linen Thread bow on the left and a Threaded Twine bow on the right. For the Threaded Twine bow, a cut a length of the twine and removed threads from it as it was too bulky in one piece.

So let’s talk Paper Pumpkin and the benefits of a subscription. It arrives monthly in your mailbox without a lot of hassle. There are advanced descriptions of what’s in the kit each month so there’s the option to void the order for a particular month if it’s something you don’t want. That means you aren’t billed for it that month and the subscription is advanced a month. With the initial order, an acrylic block is included, after that it’s the ink spot, glue dots or tape (or both, as in this months kit) and all the parts to put together cards or boxes or gift bags, often with embellishments or linen thread or pearls, gems or sequins of some sort. It’s like a gift surprise each month! Subscribe by the 10th of any month to receive that month’s kit. Supplies may be limited toward the end of the subscription period.

Stampin’ Up! Wishes All Around Bundle

Good Sunday morning! It’s chilly again… and I’m enjoying the cooler weather. Today’s card is quick and easy and a Christmas card! It uses the Wishes All Around bundle as well as an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE Special Release DSP called Shining Christmas 12×12 SDSP. It’s beautiful. Take a peek.

Stampin' Up! Wishes All Around C'mas card

The card base is Mossy Meadow cut 7 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4. Next are layers of Cherry Cobbler: 2 5/8 x 5 3/8 (top front) and 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 for the inside. The Shining Christmas 12×12 SDSP is cut 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 (top front) and 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 for the bottom inside. Stamp a Basic White panel (2 1/4 x 5 1/4) in Cherry Cobbler ink for the sentiment and Mossy Meadow ink for the berry sprig. Both of these use the Wishes All Around stamp set. I also stamped a punched a 2 1/4″ circle from Basic White and stamped it in the center in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Wishes All Around stamp set again. Set this circle aside for now.

Now for the fun part of decorating. I die cut two wreaths – one from Mossy Meadow card stock and one from Old Olive card stock, using the Wishes All Around Dies. I adhered these two together, off-setting them a bit. I adhered these to the stamped circle, then to the top portion of the card. I used pulled threads from the Threaded Twine to make a bow & attached it with a glue dot. Festive Pearls in Cherry Cobbler were added in groups of three. Bingo – the card is complete!

Stampin' Up! Wishes All Around C'mas. inside

The envelope got another berry sprig on the front, stamped in Mossy Meadow ink using the Wishes All Around stamp set. The envelope flap, a piece of the Shining Christmas 12×12 SDSP adhered and trimmed to fit. Such a festive card!

Stampin’ Up! All About Autumn Thinking of You

Good Saturday morning. It’s brisk here today at 54 degrees. Just say… lovin’ it! What good sleeping weather :O) My card today uses the awesome All About Autumn SDSP cut into strips to follow the scene. (Goodness! As I’m looking at this, I have the DSP in the wrong order and didn’t notice until just now!!)The sentiment comes from the Wonderful Words stamp set and Wonderful Words Dies. I wanted this card simple, to reflect the struggle of the moment the folks are going through – those who will receive this card. Copper Clay card stock was the perfect background paper on which to adhere the All About Autumn SDSP. Together, these were adhered to Early Espresso card base with dimensionals. As you can see, the sentiment is also on dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla. Embellishments were the Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots in Copper Clay.

Stampin' Up! All About Autumn SDSP Thinking of you

For the inside… the sentiment is stamped using Quiet Moments stamp set and Early Espresso ink on a Very Vanilla panel. This was added to another Copper Clay piece and both adhered to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! All About Autumn SDSP Thin king of you, inside

For the Very Vanilla envelope, another sentiment from Quiet Moments stamp set stamped in Early Espresso ink. The flap got a reverse side of one of the wonderful All About Autumn SDSP trimmed to fit.

Stampin’ Up! Quiet Meadow Thinking of You

Good Monday! I have a sweet card for you today using a DSP from the SU! Online Exclusives store: Naturally Guilded Specialty DSP. It’s beautiful, woodsy but in a gold, silver and copper.

Stampin' Up! Quiet Meadow Thinking of You

I chose the silver and used Blending Brushes to add color. The inks are Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight and Azure Afternoon. After coloring, I placed an Azure Afternoon panel behind it, dimensionals, and added it to a Pebbled Path card base. With the Meadow Dies, I die cut this sweet flower from Basic White and colored with Lemon Lolly and Azure Afternoon inks using Blending Brushes. Combining those two colors on the stem & leaves made them green, without adding a third ink color :O). I die cut the flower center from Early Espresso card stock. The Sentiment is from Quiet Meadow stamp set and stamped in Pebbled Path ink and die cut with the Meadow Dies. I added dimensionals to it and placed it over the flower. The bow is a double bow made with the Simply Elegant Trim in silver and was added with a glue dot. The final touch was the addition of several Festive Pearls in silver, both on the sentiment and the card front.

Stampin' Up! Quiet Meadow Sympathy, inside

For the inside another Azure Afternoon panel was adhered first. The Basic White panel was stamped with this lovely flower bunch from Quiet Meadow stamp set in Stazon Ink. I colored it with Light Lemon Lolly, Light Granny Apple Green and SU 100 Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment is again from Quiet Meadow stamp set and stamped in Pebbled Path ink.

Stampin' Up! Quiet Meadow card & envelope

The envelope did not stamp so well :O( but I used the same stamp as the inside of the card, from Quiet Meadow stamp set. And more Naturally Guilded SDSP on the flap. After trimming to size I colored it as I did the card front: Blending Brushes, Lemon Lolly and Azure Afternoon inks.

Online Exclusives are a part of the Stampin’ Up! product line, just online only – as the name implies.

Stampin’ Up! All About Autumn and Hope You Know Sympathy

Good morning! Todays card is super simple, but the DSP (All About Autumn 6×6 DSP) takes full credit for the beauty. This Designer Series Paper is one of the packs in the new Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog. Many of the papers in this pack are just breath-takingly stunning. And for me, this is one of them.

Stampin' Up! All about Autumn & Hope you Know Sympathy

I am a facilitator for a Grief Share program and one of the attendees was a gentleman who lost his wife. He came so faithfully for at least two 13 week sessions. He began having some heart problems and his regularity became – well, irregular. He passed away recently and even though he had some health issues, I believe he died of a broken heart. I didn’t meet his son, but I spoke to him & he knew who I was. I was so deeply touched by the son’s father. He was a true gentleman and was grateful for the Grief Share group. That man made a definite impression on me and will not be soon forgotten. This card is for that man’s son & family.

The Designer Series Paper (All About Autumn DSP) was cut at 4 x 5 14 and added to a Cajun Craze panel just slightly larger. Both were added to the Very Vanilla card base with dimensionals. The sentiment is from a stamp set in the Annual Catalog called Hope You Know, stamped on a Very Vanilla scrap and fussy cut. I die cut a background with the smallest of the rounded rectangular dies in the Nested Essential Dies – also an annual catalog item. The sentiment was adhered with liquid glue to this Cajun Craze die cut. I added a length of Copper Ribbon with Stampin’ Seal from the Copper & Natural Ribbon Combo Pack in the new Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog. The banner was added to the card front with dimensionals. As a final touch, three Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots were added to the banner. And the card front was done! The All About Autumn 6×6 DSP did all the work!

Stampin' Up! Hope You Know sentiment

For the inside, again on a Very Vanilla panel, the sentiment from Hope You Know stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink. I really like how clear it is – and the font as well. At the bottom of this I added a strip of the same All About Autumn DSP. This Very Vanilla stamped piece was added to Cajun Craze, then attached to the inside of the Very Vanilla card base – and the card was done!

Stampin' Up! All about Autumn Card & envelope

For the envelope, I simply turned this same paper to the other side and adhered it to a Very Vanilla envelope. I did nothing to the envelope front. The simplicity and the colors make this a perfect masculine sympathy card. It will go out in Monday’s mail!

Stampin’ Up! Fall Leaves Theme for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Stampin' Up! Autumn Leaves Double Easel Card

This is how it looks from the side.

Stampin' Up! Double Easel card side view

This is a double easel card and not complicated. There ARE a lot of steps cuz there’s coloring with both Watercolor Pencils and Blending Brushes. So… let’s start with those first.

Leaves from Autumn Leaves stamp set & Autumn Leaves Dies

  • Ink the leaf from the Autumn Leaves stamp set in Crushed Curry ink.
  • With that still ink on the stamp, with various Blending Brushes add dabs of Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow. I find it best to tap the ink on lightly, especially if the color is strong.
  • Stamp on a Very Vanilla panel. Clean stamp and repeat process so there are two leaves stamped. You will note in my photo, one is much lighter than the other – that was intentional!
  • Die cut leaves using the Autumn Leaves Dies & set aside.
  • Die cut leaf veins with appropriate die from Autumn Leaves Dies using scraps from both Crushed Curry and Crumb Cake card stock.
  • Adhere to appropriate stamped & die cut leaves with dabs of liquid glue – DO NOT PUT GLUE ON THE TAIL OF THE VEIN!

Bird – Perched In A Tree stamp set with coordinating Aspen Tree Dies

  • Stamped this very fat robin in Stazon ink on a Basic White scrap. Stazon because it stamps so very clearly and does not bleed at all when colored.
  • Watercolor Pencils: Early Espresso & Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie & Real Red. I listed them this way as they will be used in pairs as listed.
    • With a flicking motion, begin adding color to the robin with Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil. This is a base layer and need not be too heavy. The reason for the flicking motion in lieu of back & forth coloring is it look more natural, more feather like. Refer to the photo for where this color should be added.
    • Add Cajun Craze Watercolor Pencil in the same way.
    • Now add more Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil until you are satisfied.
    • Switch to Pumpkin Pie and do the head & chest, flicking as you go to make it look like real feathers. Change direction of the flicking too – or… turn the robin to make the motion easier for the particular direction.
    • Add Real Red Watercolor Pencil, more on the top and under the beak, still flicking making it feather-like.
    • Add Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil to the beak and to the feet
    • Die cut with die from Aspen Tree Dies – set aside.

The base for a Double Easel Card:

  • I used Crumb Cake card stock… 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 & 2 3/4; the bottom half is also Crumb Cake card stock 4 1/4 x 4 1/4, scored at 2 & 1/4. Burnish well all score lines.
  • Adhere the 1/4 scored area to the inside of the card base that is not scored.
  • Add a Very Vanilla panel 4 1/4 x 5 3/8 to the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 area of the card base, covering the adhered Crumb Cake front piece. This is the inside of the card and could be stamped if you so desired. I left it blank.

Now let’s decorate… :O)

  • Die cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 3/8 with this wonderful open Aspen Tree Die.
  • Add this die cut piece to the front folded section of the card base. NOTE: you are adding this die with glue only on the lower half. HINT: I turned the die over and marked lightly with a pencil, the area to add glue. :O)
  • Lay die right in place over the die cut panel, place cutting plate to score line & run through, cutting that front fold section. You may have to go back & forth a bit, but only cut to the score line!
  • With a craft knife, cut pieces that should be removed per the die.
  • Stamp sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla in Early Espresso ink. My sentiment is from the Perched In A Tree stamp set and the Very Vanilla is approximately 5/8 by 5. Adhere sentiment with dimensionals over the score line.
Stampin' Up! Perched In A Tree back side of partial die cut

This is what it looks like from the back once adhered and die cut the second time. It’s clear my Exacto knife was not quite sharp enough to make clean cuts. :O(

  • Die cut additional leaves using the Autumn Leaves Dies, Aspen
    Tree Dies
    and Distressed Gold Specialty DSP.
    • adhere the two like leaves on the sentiment banner with liquid glue.
  • FRONT section of the double easel…
  • With stamp from Perched in a Tree, stamp the splotches with on Very Vanilla panel 1 3/4 x 4 14 with stamped-off Pecan Pie ink.
  • Add panel to very front of easel section, centering top to bottom.
    • Add reserved stamped leaves colored with Blending Brushes – Autumn Leaves stamp set & Autumn Leaves Dies – with liquid glue.
    • Add Aspen Tree Die in Distressed Gold with liquid glue on one end and dimensional on leaf tip end. This adds depth.
    • Add double bow made with Simply Elegant Trim in Gold with glue dot.
  • Add robin die cut with Aspen Tree Dies with double dimensionals
  • For a final touch… add several Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots to this panel and to the Aspen Tree die cut on the top section of the easel.
Stampin' Up! Autumn Leaves Double Easel Card & envelope

For the envelope… I added Neutral 6×6 DSP in Crumb Cake to the flap & trimmed it to fit. For the envelope front I stamped the leaf vein from Autumn Leaves stamp set in Early Espresso ink. My card was inspired by Jo Blackman and a card she made in 2022.

Stampin’ Up! Garden Walk 6×6 Birthday card

Good Wednesday – happy Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog opening day!!! Wheee. It’s time for customer ‘happy day’, right? My card today features one of the Designer Series Paspers in this new catalog – Garden Walk 6×6 DSP.

Stampin' Up!Garden Walk 6x6 birthday

I’ve paired this designert series paper with Timeless Charm bundle which is part of an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE as I do not yet have the coordinating stamps & dies to the DSP. Aren’t the colors pretty? Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, and Garden Green plus some softer tones of maybe Balmy Blue, although that is not mentioned on the color coordination label.

The Garden Walk DSP is cut 1 x 4 for the two longer strips & 1 x 2 3/4 for the two end strips. And the cool part about this particular pattern is that the dotted side is the reverse of the flower pattern side :O). These were adhered to a Calypso Coral piece 4 x 5 1/4.n The Basic White piece is 1 5/8 x 2 7/8 and stamped prior to adhering in place. The sentiment comes from Timeless Charm stamp set and was stamped in Poppy Parade ink. The splotches are from the Timeless Charm stamp set and stamped in second generation Calypso Coral ink. Once adhered in place, the die cut flower was adhered with liquid glue. This is a Basic White die cut from the Timeless Charm Dies. The Garden Green leaves are a die cut from Timeless Charm Dies and also adhered with liquid glue. I die cut an additional flower center in Calypso Coral and adhered in in place with mini dimensionals. The final touch for the card front was the Iridescent Pastel Gems in Balmy Blue.

Stampin' Up! Timeless Charm stamp set

Again, using Timeless Charm stamp set, I stamped this ‘blob’ in second generation Calypso Coral then added the flower from Timeless Charm stamp set in Poppy Parade – all on a Basic White panel.

Stampin' Up! Garden Walk 6x6b DSP birthday card & envelope

For the envelope, more of the Garden Walk 6×6 DSP for the flap, adhered & trimmed to fit. The fun leaf stamp is from Timeless Charm stamp set and stamped in stamped off Garden Green ink. A very thin strip of the Garden Walk 6×6 DSP was added at the bottom to tie it all together. A fun, quick and easy card :O)
