It’s Monday morning and a full day ahead… what are your plans? I’ve a bit of computer work today, card making :o), gardening :O) and more, but first, I want to share this masculine birthday card. Part of what makes it masculine is the colors, another is its simplicity and non-fussiness.

I began with retiring Sahara Sand card stock to make this A2 top fold card. Does it seem that I’m trying to use my stash in preparation for all the new? Well – you are sooooo right! I have gotten stuck however, using what’s on my desk. :O( Nonetheless… here’s the card.

Stampin' Up! Masculine birthday w/ By the Bay DSP

As I mentioned, Sahara Sand for the card base. Starting from the front:

  • By the Bay DSP cut 2 7/8 x 3 7/8
  • Layer this to Basic White 3 x 4
  • Adhere both to a coordinating By the Bay DSP 3 7/8 x 5 1/8
  • And Balmy Blue 4 x 5 1/4.
  • Wrap with a length of Burlap Ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack (carrying over!). Adhere ribbon in back with Stampin’ Seal
  • Adhere all this to the card base with dimensionals
  • Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White scrap. This sentiment comes from Waves of Inspiration stamp set – carrying over!
  • Die cut sentiment with Waves Dies, carrying over… and adhere over the ribbon with dimensionals
  • Add three Enamel Dot Essentials in Crumb Cake and the front is complete

For the inside… adhere a Basic White 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 to a Balmy Blue piece 4 x 5 1/4. Adhere a strip of By the Bay DSP to the bottom and attach all this to the inside of the card.

The envelope… super simple… a coordinating piece of By the Bay DSP for the envelope flap and this masculine card is ready to be sent.

Here’s the exciting part about the products used for this card… The Waves of Inspiration stamp set and its coordinating Waves Dies are carrying over… just not as a bundle. The Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack is also carrying over. Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Basic White card stock are also carrying over, as are the Balmy Blue ink and Night of Navy inks. :O) What is not carrying over into the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog is the By the Bay Designer Series Paper and the Enamel Dot Essentials or the Sahara Sand card stock. Prices are changing in the new catalog… production costs have risen as everything else has risen (such as food costs, clothing costs, gasoline, etc.) If you have a chance, check out getting these carry-over items now before the price increases with the new catalog. Stampin’ Up! Love You Always Treat Boxes

Oh goodness – it’s MARCH! I cannot believe how fast February flew. Yes, it’s is only 28 days, but still. Today’s project uses the Love You Always Treat Boxes – the perfect size for a small gift ~ candies, a necklace or earrings, even a scarf or a pair of fun socks! At any rate, not sure what will go in this one yet, but is intended for Easter, therefore the pastel colors.

Love You Always Treat Box

Gosh, I just realized how cockeyed the bow is… I’ll retie it. The box finished size is 2 3/4 across x 4 1/8 in length and a full 1 1/2 deep – and very sturdy. Here’s what I did…

  • Wrap the box with a 3 x 9 length of card stock, glueing in place and creating the folds as you go. Here I used Seaside Spray.
  • Cut another piece, this time of DSP (and I used Sand & Sea DSP) 2 x 9, wrap, glue, and fold as before.
  • Create the tag using the Essential Tag Punch, Basic White card stock and Seaside Spray card stock toon – so punch two. I decorated the Basic White tag with a strip of the Sand & Sea DSP then using the Oval Occasions Punch, I created a sentiment for the tag. The blue is the reverse side of the dotted DSP and I added it to the tag with dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped using the Oval Occasions stamp set and Seaside Spray ink on Basic White. This was adhered with liquid glue then I added three 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.
  • The Seaside Spray tag is stamped with Night of Navy ink using the A Wish for Everything stamp set and again three 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots. Punch a hole through both tags for the ribbon.
  • I wrapped the box twice around with Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack in Seaside Spray and Silver, then through the tag and tied a bow. I knotted the ends of the ribbon just for fun.

Fun little project and I’m going to create several – for grandkids and friends. They will be nice to have on hand.

It is so fun to work with new product… I don’t know why that is ~ learning curve, different inspiration, just new ~ who knows! A Touch of Ink stamp set will be available as part of Sale-a-bration beginning Jan 5, 2021. It’s FREE with a $100 purchase from any Stampin’ Up! catalog. A Touch of Ink – #1

All the images and sentiments are from this new stamp set, A Touch of Ink. It’s a 2-step set, meaning the outline then the ‘coverage’ stamp. And just so you know, the second step is not meant to stay within the lines. It’s artsy and definitely not solid. I hope you can tell that by what you see in the photo above. I did not use the two-step for the butterfly, I chose to use Stampin’ Blends. Let me give you the details…

  • Stamp the leaves, flower, and butterfly with Tuxedo Black ink on a Whisper White panel
  • Stamp the 2nd step for the leaves: top set in Old Olive ink, the lower set of leaves in Soft Sea Foam
  • Stamp the 2nd step for the flowers in Crushed Curry ink
  • Color the butterfly using various Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight. Cover with Wink of Stella
  • Adhere the panel to Basic Black card stock with liquid glue
  • Adhere Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins
  • Stamp the word ‘Hope’ in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White scrap. Cut square about 3/4″, make it a diamond in lieu of a square, creating interest. Adhere to Basic Black card stock and trim to desired diamond. Adhere to the card with dimensionals
  • Adhere completed panel to Thick Whisper White card stock and your card front is complete
A Touch of Ink – #2 & 3

In the left photo I was hoping you could tell I added Wink of Stella to the butterfly ~ does it show up sparkly? I made sure I did each individual color with a single stroke of the brush, otherwise the colors could possibly bleed into one another.

In the photo at right, inside of the card…. On a piece of Whisper White card stock I stamped the butterfly 2nd step with Soft Sea Foam ink, just wanting to create a background for the sentiment. The sentiment is from A Touch of Ink stamp set as mentioned, stamped in Tuxedo Black memento ink. This was adhered to the inside of the card weithn liquid glue – and finis for the card!

A Touch of Ink – #4

For the envelope, I covered the flap with Ornate Garden DSP and trimmed it to fit. I then stamped the leaves from A Touch of Ink in Old Olive ink and stamped the 2nd step in Soft Sea Foam ink and the card was done.
