About TL's Bright Spot

I love to be creative - in the garden, crafting, and in leadership roles. There is something wonderful that happens when we design something new and share it with others. It's fun and makes everyone happy.

Stampin’ Up! Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday

The Biggest Wish stamp set just arrived recently and it is a fabulous stamp set. I’m going to share two cards with you today, both using this set. One is a sort of fun fold, simple & easy but a change from the ordinary. The other is more traditional. Both are masculine cards – and birthday. Here is the fun fold card…

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.1

The Designer Series Paper is called Well Suited and it is from the Jan-Jun Mini Catalog – which retires 30 June! Some of the coordinating papers for this DSP are Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Cajun Craze and of course Basic White, which I have used. The stripy piece flips up for additional sentiment.

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.2

And here’s how I created this… the Night of Navy card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. 1/2″ from the left edge, I adhered another panel of Night of Navy cut 2 1/4 x 10 1/2 and scored at 5 1/4. Leaving this panel open, I adhered the Well Suited DSP 4 x 5 1/4 over this and right to the top of the fold on the panel. I then attached the striped pattern of the DSP ( cut 2 x 5). For the Basic White panel, I stamped the sentiment first in Night of Navy ink and that comes from the Days to Remember stamp set. I then stamped the balloons in Cajun Craze ink, also from the Days to Remember stamp set and used the Night of Navy marker to create the tails of the balloons. The balloons on the left were stamped off once. This panel is just a tad wider – 2 1/8 x 5 and adhered in place. Back to the front of the card… I stamped the word happy from the Biggest Wish stamp set in Smoky Slate ink on a Basic White piece then punched it with the Tailored Tag Punch. I punched another from Cajun Craze card stock, cut it in half vertically and adhered it to the back of the tag with liquid glue. I cut a length of Smoky Slate Textured Ribbon, made pointy ends and adhered it on the front flip panel with Seal+. The sentiment banner got dimensionals and was adhered over the ribbon. For a final bit of bling – even guys need bling now & then – I added three Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Gems – and the front was complete! Foolish me, I did not take a picture of the back… but I did cut a panel of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4, stamped the large BIRTHDAY in Smoky Slate ink at the bottom left corner, then stamped the scripty word happy in Cajun Craze ink above it. This gave enough writing room for something fun.

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.3

For the envelope, I stamped the scripty word birthday in Smoky Slate ink, along the side, then the word happy in Cajun Craze ink. Both come from Biggest Wish stamp set. The flap was covered in more of the Well-Suited DSP.

Card #2… super simple, still using the Well-Suited DSP and Biggest Wish stamp set.

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.4

Here I used a different piece of the Well-Suited DSP and coordinated it with Pacific Point and Smoky Slate, with a bit of bling using the Metallic Pearls in silver. The card base is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2. The DSP is 3 3/16 x 4 1/4 adhered to Pacific Point card stock 3 3/8 x 4 1/4. Both were added to the card front with liquid glue. I stamped the large word BIRTHDAY in Smoky Slate ink then the scripty word happy in Pacific Point ink. then added the three Metallic Pearls in silver… and the card front was done!

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.5

For the inside – Well-Suited DSP 5/8 x 4 1/4 adhered with liquid glue to a Pacific Point piece 3/4 x 4 1/4. This was added near the bottom of the inside of the card and the inside was complete.

Biggest Wish Masculine Birthday.6

For the envelope, I used another panel of the Well-Suited DSP and adhered it to the flap and voila – that was it! Here are the two cards together…

I have really enjoyed playing with the Well-Suited DSP. It has been perfect for many masculine cards. And now that I have played with the Biggest Wish stamp set, it will be used a lot! DANG! just checked and the Well-Suited DSP is sold out!!! That’s good for Stampin’ Up! – not so good for you…

Stampin’ Up! Tailor Made Tags Dies Anniversary

Monday, Monday… remember that song? It’s hard to believe it’s Monday already… where does the time go? I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Do you ever search through Pinterest, find an idea you like and file it in your brain – then try to find it again, and can’t? Well, today’s card is just that – a CASE of someone, I just can’t give credit cuz I don’t know who it is. At any rate, I’ve kept the colors really simple – Misty Moonlight and Basic White.

Tailor Made Tag Dies Anniversary.1

I began with a Thick Basic White card base and added a panel of Basic White regular card stock that had been run through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder – adhered with dimensionals. I took a strip of Misty Moonlight card stock and wrapped 1 1/2″ Metallic Mesh Ribbon over it adhering in back with Seal+. I then stamped the sentiment from Inspired Thoughts stamp set on a Basic White piece with Misty Moonlight ink and die cut it using the Tailor Made Tag Dies. I tied Misty Moonlight & Silver twine (from Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack) around the mesh ribbon and through the hole in the tag and made a bow I secured the bow with a glue dot. I adhered all this to the card front with dimensionals, added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

Tailor Made Tag Dies Anniversary.2

For the inside I stamped the sentiment from Elegantly Said stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on another panel of Basic White card stock. I then stamped the flower in stamped off Misty moonlight ink, adhered the panel with liquid glue to the inside and the card was complete.

Tailor Made Tag Dies Annjiversary.3

For the envelope I ran another piece of Basic White card stock through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the flap, trimmed to fit. Finis!. I love the simplicity of this card – it’s elegant.

Card cuts are listed at the bottom of this post.

Stampin’ Up! Elegantly Said Birthday

Happy Father’s Day to all the men out there! May you feel loved & appreciated for all you do & are.

Today’s card uses the Elegantly Said bundle, Penned Flowers Dies and the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder plus a few other elements. It incorporates two of the new In Colors ~ Pale Papaya & Soft Succulent which compliment each other nicely.

Elegantly Said Birthday.1

Golly, this photo is d-a-r-k… ugh. I began by running a panel of the Soft Succulent card stock through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and adhering it directly to the Soft Succulent card base. Next I added a panel of the 2021-2023 In Color 6×6 DSP in Soft Succulent, to a larger panel of Basic White then wrapped Open Weave Ribbon in Pale Papaya around it and tied a bow, and adhered that with liquid glue as well. I had this floral die cut on my desk for a while – it comes from the Penned Flowers Dies and was die cut from Pale Papaya card stock. I adhered that with dots of liquid glue and added a couple of Genial Gems to the floral centers.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Elegantly Said stamp set onto a Basic White piece then punched it out using the Elegant Tag Punch. I also punched a longer piece in Pale Papaya card stock and adhered the two together to create a banner. I put dimensionals on the back and attached it to the card front. I added three more Genial Gems to the banner (this time in green) and the card front was done.

For the inside I added a 1/2″ wide strip of the same 2021-2023 6×6 In Color DSP to a Basic White panel and adhered it to the inside of the card – no additional sentiment or stamping – and no photo either 😦 What was I thinking!!! For the envelope I added a panel of the 2021-2023 6×6 In Colore DSP in Soft Succulent to the envelope flap and voila! Card cuts are listed at the bottom of this post.

Stampin’ Up! Congratulations with Hand-Penned

The Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack, along with the Hand-Penned Cards & Envelopes are such an ideal way to create with beautiful items. The Card Pack has labels & stickers plus two sizes of cards that can be mixed and matched. Today’s card uses these and only an additional ribbon for a quick & easy, yet beautiful card.

Hand-Penned Congratulations.1

The card base itself is pretty: Pool Party in color with polkadots. I cut one of the card panels from the pack in half to make it 3 x 4, then backed it with Pale Papaya card stock just slightly larger. The sentiment banner is a sticker and I added that to a Basic White strip to make it stand out a bit. I put dimensionals on the back of the strip and added it to the card front. I wrapped a length of Open Weave Ribbon in Evening Evergreen around the panel and tied a bow, adhering it with a glue dot under the knot. This panel was adhered to the card front with liquid glue and the card front was done.

Hand-Penned Congratulations.2

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from A Grand Kid in Pale Papaya ink on the Basic White panel. I added the flourish in Soft Succulent ink using the Hand-Penned stamp set. The stem was stamped off once, while the tips are full strength. This panel was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Pale Papaya then into the card base and the card was done.

The envelope is fully self decorated from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card & Envelopes ~ and it’s beautiful. These cards are slightly larger than our standard, 4 1/4 x 6 but do not require extra postage. Yay!

Hand-Penned Congratulations.3

Stampin’ Up! Congrats Card with Simply Succulents

My focus the last several days has been to create cards that require no extra postage. Sometimes this is easier for me than other times. Today’s card was easier, although I so badly wanted to add a layer and of course more dimensionals. But I restrained myself!

Simply Succulents Congrats.1

This stunning laser-like front is a die cut from the Potted Succulents Dies. Isn’t it gorgeous? The sentiment AND the banner are also from the Simply Succulents bundle. This front panel was die cut from Basic White card stock and applied with liquid glue to the Soft Succulent card stock base, one of the new In Colors. Another possibility for adhering this would be to apply the Adhesive Sheets to the back of the Basic White card stock, then die cut the panel. I didn’t do that, but it’s a perfect option. The next thing I did was stamp the sentiment from the Simply Succulents stamp set in Soft Succulent ink on a Basic White card stock piece, then die cut it with the Potted Succulents Dies. I covered the back with Seal+ as I wanted some kind of ribbon or cording behind the sentiment banner. After playing with many different options, I settled with the Simply Elegant Trim in Silver and wove it onto the back of the banner, making it look as though it were a large bow. 🙂 This photo does not show it well at all, but it looks really nice in person! I added three Genial Gems in the green and the card front was complete.

Simply succulent Congrats, inside.2

For the inside I found two stamp sets with the sentiments I wanted to use: Many Happenings for the ‘YOU DID IT!’ and Inspired Thoughts for the ‘Congratulations’. These were stamped in Soft Succulent ink on a Basic White panel and for a final touch I added another Genial Gems in the green. This was adhered to the inside of the card with liquid glue and the card was done.

Simply Succulents Congrats.3

For the envelope I poked around in my DSP packets and found this wonderful leaf pattern from In The Wild 12 x 12 DSP. It brings in the colors perfectly. It was adhered with liquid glue and trimmed to fit – voila!

I’m so pleased with the way this card turned out – and without all the layering I usually do 🙂 And you probably noticed, monochromatic again. One of my favs…

Stampin’ Up! More All Squared Away

Remember the stash I spoke of yesterday – the one with die cuts not yet used on a card? Well – here’s another die cut from All Squared Away using the Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP – and yep, it’s a birthday card.

All Squared Away.1

Super simple today, not many layers. This card starts with a card base of Gray Granite card stock. To that is a Basic White panel run through the with one of the Meadow Moments Embossing Folders. This folder is so delicate and sweet. The die cut mentioned earlier was added to the panel with small amounts of liquid glue. And notice, the flower center has one of the little dots from the embossing folder. 🙂 The next thing I did was stamp the sentiment in Gray Granite ink, also using the All Squared Away stamp set. I added three 2021-2023 In Co0lor Jewels in Pale Papaya then wrapped Gray Granite Baker’s twine around it twice and tied a knot. The twine is from the Essential Baker’s Twine Pack. The Basic White panel was now complete and adhered to the Gray Granite card stock with liquid glue – done!

All Squared Away.2

For the inside, I used an oval stamp from Watercolor Shapes stamp set and Pale Papaya ink to create a spot for the sentiment. I taped of a portion of the stamp I didn’t want to use and inked it with Gray Granite ink, removed the tape and stamped it over the oval. The Basic White panel was adhered to the inside of the Gray granite card base – and voila!

All Squared Away.3

For the envelope I ran more Gray Granite card stock through the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder, this time using the other folder in the two-pack. This is every bit as delicate & sweet. The panel was adhered to the envelope flap and trimmed to fit. Finis… and ready to send.

Yesterdays card was multi-layered and bold while today’s is monochromatic and pretty much single layered. I love that we can do that, show creativity in various ways and still be beautiful. Definitely not something one would find in a store! Handmade at it’s best… Card cuts are listed at the end of this post.

Card cuts for today’s project:

Gray Granite – 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, 2 1/4 x 6 (envelope flap)

Basic White – 4 x 5 1/2 (run through embossing folder), 4 x 5 1/4 (inside)

Stampin’ Up! Polished Pink & Pool Party Birthday

Who would have thought Polished Pink & Pool Party would compliment each other? Not me! But as I was playing with colors, I really liked this combo ~ and the Gray Granite is just enough to soften things a bit. And this came together because I was rooting around in my stash and found these die cuts from the All Squared Away bundle!

Polished Pink & Pool Party Birthday.1

The flower die cut comes from Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP using the Floral Squares Dies and the background is stamped in Polished Pink on a Basic White panel with the All Squared Away stamp set. I trimmed that down and adhered the die cut with liquid glue, put dimensionals on the back and attached it to a larger square of Basic White cut with the Layering Squares Dies (OOPS>>> these are a retired item – bummer!). I used a scalloped square from the Layering Squares Dies to create a Polished Pink and the squares were adhered to that with liquid glue. This is when I discovered this fun contrast with Pool Party… using the Fine Art Floral DSP and the Scallop & Contour Dies. I made a square by die cutting only a portion of the Scallop, matching the contours and die cutting the other end. And I really like the smaller scallop paired with the larger scallop.; it provides a nice contrast. The Polished Pink layers were adhered to this new scalloped square with liquid glue, then onto a larger panel of Basic White. I pulled in another Pool Party using the Subtles 6×6 DSP and adhered that to a Thick Basic White card base (yep, lisuid glue) then added all the layers using liquid glue. The sentiment banner comes from the Artistically Inked stamped set and I stamped that in Gray Granite on a Basic White strip then angled the ends. That was attached to a Polished Pink strip and added to the card front with liquid glue. For a final bit of bling, I added three 2021-2023 In Color Jewels in Polished Pink ~ and the card front was done!

Polished Pink & Pool Party
Birthday, inside.2

For the inside of the card I added another panel of the Fine Art Floral DSP. On the Basic White panel, I stamped this extra fun ‘blotch’ using the Artistically Ink stamp set with Pool Party ink. Over that I stamped the sentiment with Basic Gray ink from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set. I adhered the Basic White panel to the DSP and the card itself was complete.

Polished Pink & Pool Party Birthday.3

For the envelope, I used the Subtles 6×6 DSP to adhere to the envelope flap and that was it. I’m rather excited about this new color combo… hope you like it too. Card cuts are listed at the end of this post.

Stampin’ Up! Elegantly Said Anniversary

It’s Tuesday… still going strong into the week. My card today is an anniversary card using products that are new and some products retiring the end of June. I’m trying really hard to use the retiring items but combining them with new. Stampin’ Up! does such an amazing job of coordinating their products that it’s fairly easy to do this.

Elegantly Said Anniversary.1

The Forever Gold Laser-Cut SDSP really makes this card stand out. And it’s placed against Flowering Cactus Product Medley from the Mini Catalog. The sentiment is from the Elegantly Said bundle and the tag is created with the Tailor Made Tag Dies, both of which are new in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Let me break down how I made this card…

Adhere a panel of the DSP from the Flowering Cactus Product Medley (if you have the stamp set bundle, the refill kit has this DSP!) to a card base of Mossy Meadow. Cut down a coordinating piece of the same DSP packet and adhere the Forever Gold Laser-Cut SDSP with liquid glue. I cut a panel of Basic White the same size as the SDSP and adhered that to the back for strength. I wrapped the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim around and tied a knot, securing the knot with a glue dot. (this trim is part of the Dandy Garden suite of products). Stamp the sentiment from Elegantly Said stamp set on Basic White in Mossy Meadow ink and die cut with the Tailor Made Tag Dies. Die cut another the sameI size in Mossy Meadow and adhere together with liquid glue, off-setting a bit. Adhere to the card with dimensionals. Slip a Simply Elegant Trim in Gold through the hole and tie a bow, attaching it to the Braided Linen Trim. Add three Gilded Gems to the sentiment banner. Add dimensionals to the back of this panel and adhere to the card front – voila!

Elegantly Said Anniversary, inside.2

For the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the Elegantly Said stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink on a Basic White panel. I found a ‘frame’ in my stash cut from Mossy Meadow card stock and adhered that to the panelwith liquid glue. (It’s easy to create a similar frame using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.) This Basic White panel was adhered to the card base and the card was complete.

For the envelope, I adhered a strip of the same DSP from the Flowering Cactus Product Medley to the envelope flap and that was it.

Elegantly Said Anniversary.3

A friend has placed an order for several cards (20 to be exact!) of various needs: birthday, anniversary, masculine, congratulations. They need to be fairly simple cards with not a lot of dimension. This has some, but should be able to be sent with regular postage. Since this is a decent size order, I will be posting more of these to share with you 🙂 I hope you find them worthy… Card cuts are listed below.

Products for todays project are from the 2021-22 Annual Catalog. They may be found in the list below. I’ve made it easy for you to simply ‘add all to cart’. If I can help you in any way to order these items, or others, please give me a holler. As a thank you to my customers, when the order is between $50-$150 I offer a SU! item of your choice valued at $10. Remember to use MY NEW HOST CODE – 4A6RJ2TA . Stampin’ Up! Birthday

Today’s card is for my sweetheart of a hubby, his birthday! He loves to sail our little 16′ Bullseye and therefore the Sailing Home stamp set is perfect for a card for him.

Sailing home birthday.1

I started by using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and Beauty of the Earth DSP to create a rectangle, then stamped the sailboat in Misty Moonlight ink and the birds in Smoky Slate ink. I die cut the same size panel in Basic White and adhered it to the back of the panel for strength. I then die cut with the largest of the Stitched Rectangles Dies, a Basic White panel. I stamped the anchor in Smoky Slate ink from the Sailing Home stamp set, then the two sentiments. The ‘Happiest…’ sentiment is from All squared Away stamp set and stamped in Misty Moonlight ink. The other sentiment is from Days to Remember stamp set and done in Smoky Slate ink. I added five retired 2020-2022 Enamel Dots in Misty Moonlight, then wrapped Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack around the Basic White panel 2 times and tied a knot. I then adhered the sailboat panel with dimensionals. This Basic White panel also got dimensionals and was added to the card base. The card base is Basic White with a panel of Misty Moonlight card stock adhered with liquid glue. This frames the white panel nicely. Card cuts are listed at the end of the post.

Sailing Home Birthday.2

The inside was kept really simple – using the largest of the Stitched Rectangles dies, cut a panel of Basic White, stamp the sentiment from All Squared Away stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink and adhere with liquid glue to a larger Misty Moonlight panel, then attach to the inside of the card – yep, with liquid glue. And the card is complete… 🙂

For the envelope, I took a piece of Misty Moonlight card stock and ran it through the new Bark 3D embossing folder and attached it to the flap. Love this new folder!!!
