SU! Jar of Flowers

Hi Everyone… It’s Friday, TGIF day and the weather folks say it’s a beautiful weekend ahead. YAY! Tomorrow is hubby’s b’day 😍 and we are headed to a National Park picnic area to meet up with our kids and their families ~ eek ~ so excited! But we have to be so careful… elder daughters hubby is compromised health~wise and so is their older son (age 19)… just sayin’ it’s been six months since we have seen that family in person and I so badly want to hug every one of them…. But I am going to be good, good, good. I rarely go out so definitely self quarantining, and I don’t want to do anything that would jeopardize their health. We are taking chairs so we can socially distance, and we are not sharing food. Our other daughter/ hubby will be there too but they live about 20 minutes from us and while we socially distance, we see them about once a week, which is really nice. Sounds sterile doesn’t it? But there will be love and laughter… and celebration! 💕💕 Enough already…

Today’s card has a definite country look…Does it ever happen that the vision you have is NOT what is created? Well, that definitely happened with this card, but I still like it… here ’tis…

Jar of Flowers stamp set
#1

And here are the products used to make this card…

  • Jar of Flowers stamp set
  • Lovely Youn stamp set (sentiment & leaf on inside panel)
  • Bumblebee cs
  • Early Espresso cs & ink
  • Thick Whisper White cs
  • Watercolor paper (which probably should have been Whisper White cs :O)
  • Linen Thread
  • Pear Pizzazz ink
  • Mint Macaron ink
  • Balmy Blue ink
  • Black Stazon ink
  • Lots of Blends: Lt Old Olive, Daffodil Delight combo pack, Early
Espresso combo pack, Pumpkin Pie combo pack, Highland Heather combo pack, Dk Petal Pink

And here’s the how…

Stamp the flower image in Black Stazon ink. And here was my mistake… I wanted this to be done in watercolor, but the image is really too small. Watercolor is great for backgrounds or a larger image, so I switched and colored the flowers with Blends… Make a mask with the flower stamp, place it over the flower and stamp the jar (vase) in Pear Pizzazz. I wanted this jar to look like one of the old fashioned blue-green glass canning jars. Stamp the water in Balmy Blue. Not for nothing, but this should have been stamped off at least once! Stamp the stems in Pear Pizzazz.

Use the Take Your Pick tool and the Stampin ‘ Pierce mat to punch four small holes at the edge of the opening. Weave the Linen Thread through the holes and tie a bow. Love it! The card front is ready to be adhered to Bumblebee cs, then early Espresso, put on dimensionals and on to the Thick Whisper White card base. Nice!

The inside…

Lovely You stamp set
#2

Stamp the sentiment from the Lovely You stamp set in Early Espresso and the leaf from this same set in Pear Pizzazz, stamped off at least twice so it’s a soft image onto a Whisper White panel. This is a wonderful stamp set with super fonts – just sayin’. Adhere with liquid glue to a Bumblebee panel and then to the card inside. Your card is now ready for an envelope!

The envelope..,.

Jar of Flowers stamp set #3

I had some paper strips left over from cutting down cs so simply adhered them to the flap and the front of the card. What do you think? This idea would be very appropriate for a masculine card but sure ties this card to the envelope – and I like it…  TIP: I usually have my Silicone craft sheet handy when I do this, so as not to get glue all over my work surface. Paper strips often have glue on the ends that go beyond the paper it’s being adhered to and the Silicone craft sheet is so easy to clean… just roll the glue with your finger and that’s it!

While this card did not turn out as I had envisioned, it is a definite ‘send now’ kind of card that I want to share with someone special – so out it will go today… Would you like to make this same card and maybe don’t have the stamp sets or Blends?
