Stampin’ Up! Whimsical Trees Bundle.2

It’s Tuesday – and the week is on! A couple of days ago I posted a card with a layout that I really liked and decided to take advantage of that design. Here’s the card… and you can see the post here.

Today’s card is this… same layout but using the Whimsy & Wonder DSP as the focus.

Whimsical Trees Bundle.2

The Designer Series Paper is adhered to Mint Macaron then popped up on dimensionals and added to the Blushing Bride card base. I then die cut a banner in Mossy Meadow card stock using the Potted Succulents Dies. I used Seal+ on the back of the banner to twist around some of the Silver cord in the Simply Elegant Trim, then added dimensionals to that and put it on the card front. I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink on a piece of Blushing Bride card stock and die cut it with another of the dies in the Potted Succulents Dies. This strip also got dimensionals then centered on the Mossy Meadow banner ~ and the card front was done.

For the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Whimsical Trees stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink on a piece of Blushing Bride, die cut it with the Potted Succulents Dies and added it to the Basic White panel. I already had on my desk these two trees, stamped & die cut from the Whimsical Trees stamp set & Christmas Trees Dies (Mossy Meadow ink), so adhered them to the panel too. This was added to another panel of Mint Macaron card stock then into the card ~ and voila!

For the envelope I added the Whimsy & Wonder DSP to the envelope flap and trimmed it to fit. On the front I stamped the holly flourish from Whimsical Trees stamp set in VersaMark ink, then sprinkled it with silver embossing powder & heat set it. I colored it with markers… Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride. In retrospect, the banner on the card front should have been done the same – VersaMark then silver embossing powder – I just may have to change that! For now – this is it though… Funny how things look so different in a photo and I can see how it should be changed. :] This DSP is just stunning. And this is the first I have used the holly flourish – it’s stunning and very clear in the embossing powder.

Stampion’ Up! Tidings and Trimmings Bundle

Good Sunday morning to you! Today’s card is a bit on the monochromatic side using Soft Succulent. This is such a pretty shade of green… I just may have gone too far with it.

Tidings & Trimmings Bundle.1

from I really like the look of the Stitched Greenery Die. I used a full 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 panel of Soft Succulent card stock to run it through the die cut machine, then adhered it directly to the Soft Succulent card base. I then took another piece of Soft Succulent card stock, stamped it in Versamark ink using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set, sprinkled it with White embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. I die cut it with the Picture This Dies, put it on dimensionals and added it to the card front. Gold Holly Leaves – a stunning embellishment, were added with mini dimensionals, then Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels were placed on the sentiment panel. I had in my stash, this super cute stocking, stamped on Basic White card stock with Soft Succulent ink (Tidings & Trimmings), then die cut with the Christmas Trimmings Dies. I added this to the card with dimensionals, then tied a bow with the Simply Elegant Trim in Gold and added it with a glue dot. I thought the stocking could use a bit of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels, so did that too.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Tidings & Trimmings stamp set in Soft Succulent, then added another of the Gold Holly Leaves with liquid glue, then one single Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The Basic White panel was added to the inside of the card with liquid glue – and finis… the card was done.

For the Basic White Medium Envelope, I ran the flap through the Stitched Greenery Embossing Folder by folding the rest of the envelope over the die. Looks great doesn’t it? I love how it coordinates the card & envelope! For the front of the card, I stamped the stocking in soft Succulent ink, stamping off first – and yes, using the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set.

I really like the simplicity of this layout – and it can be done in so many ways: DSP in lieu of the die cut background, of course various sentiments and different embellishments. I really want to play with this layout more!

Stampin’ Up! Cathedral Window Christmas

Hi folks – it’s Friday and a bit of a heart-wrenching day in the aftermath of killings in Afghanistan. I want to say AAARGH! as Snoopy does in the daily funnies. Power. Control. Over others. It’s just not right… Prayers of peace & comfort to all those affected in this terrible tragedy.

What’s our card for today? A Cathedral window card, which I haven’t made before this… and it was pretty easy and I like the end result.

Cathedral Window Christmas.1

The colors in this are pretty soft: Mint Macaron and Sahara Sand with a bit of White. Here’s what I did…

  • Die cut a circle approximately 1 1/2″. I used the Circle Dies for this.
  • Cut a square, approximately 1″. I used my paper trimmer.
  • Put the square inside the circle and fold over the edges of the circle. Remove the square. And that’s it to make the cathedral window! But here’s a tip or two…
    • Placing the square to align with the inside image is important. If you want the image straight (as I did with this one), using your grid paper to make certain it’s ‘square’ really works!
    • Using DSP that is double sided and has small images is even better. Here I used the Peaceful Prints DSP which is a FREE product with a $50 order as part of Sale-a-bration. More on that later in the post 🙂

I placed but did not adhere the cathedral window pieces to determine where to stamp the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from Perfectly Plaid stamp set in VersaMark ink, them embossed with white embossing powder & heat set it with my heat tool. Once that was cool & not tacky I then ran the Mint Macaron panel through the Bark 3D Embossing Folder. Boy am I glad I have this EF – I use it a LOT. The cathedral windows were adhered with liquid glue, then the Mint Macaron panel was adhered to a Basic White piece with liquid glue. I then punched the sides to create a place for the Linen Thread & Simply Elegant Trim in Silver to remain in place. These were wrapped around the two panels and tied in a bow. This entire panel was added to the Sahara Sand Card base with dimensionals. To complete the front I added three Opal Rounds.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment in Sahara Sand ink using another stamp in the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. use my Stamparatus a lot too as I can re-stamp when necessary and align perfectly straight. I added more of the same Peaceful Prints DSP to the bottom of the Basic White panel and adhered it to the inside of the card. DONE!

The envelope got more of the same Peaceful Prints DSP to the envelope flap & trimmed to fit. For the front I stamped the tree from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set in Mint Macaron ink. Another Christmas card for the pile :O)

Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Leaves Part 2

Yesterday’s card led me to continue working with the same bundle – it’s as though I can’t get enough of it : And today’s card is a CASE of a card I saw on Pinterest ~ it had no watermark so I can’t give proper credit.

Gorgeous Leaves Part 2.1

This is a perfect fall card, simple & elegant. I’ve used a FREE during Sale-a-bration product on this too ! Be Dazzled 6×6 DSP. And I did a bit of embossing using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. And what else… Faux Suede Trim is wrapped around, covering the seam, and a combination of Linen Thread with Simply Elegant Trim , Gold makes a fun double bow. The leaves are stamped on Pale Papaya card stock with Cinnamon Cider ink (Gorgeous Leaves stamp set), then die cut with the Intricate Leaves Dies. I scored each leaf with my bone folder along the leaves main veins, then crimped them. Each is added to the card with mini dimensionals

Gorgeous Leaves Part 2.2

For the inside, again using Very Vanilla card stock (did I mention that already?), I stamped the maple leaf in Cinnamon Cider ink, stamping off for the first leaf then stamping again without re-inking. The sentiment comes from the Love of Leaves stamp set, a carry over from the 2020 catalog, also stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink. This panel was adhered into the card – you may use liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal.

For the envelope I added Expressions in Ink SDSP to the flap and trimmed it to fit. And for the front, I stamped several maple leaves in Cinnamon Cider ink similar to the inside of the card. Sorry ~ no photo!

Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Leaves and Fall

Whew – my computer seems to be OK today – wonder what happened? A gremlin maybe 🙂 Usually the computer transfers my photos immediately from my phone; yesterday it was over 24 hrs.! Today’s card uses the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle from the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog on page 47. I’ve paired it with Expressions In Ink Specialty DSP and Gold Foil Sheets, plus a couple of other Stampin’ Up! products.

What do you think? Two of the leaves are die cut from Gold Foil using the Intricate Leaves Dies and the other leaf is die cut from a piece of Expressions In Ink SDSP. And the background is another piece of the Expressions In Ink SDSP layered onto Gold Foil Sheet die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The sentiment was stamped prior to embossing the Basic White panel with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. The sentiment comes from the Artistically Inked stamp set and was stamped in Evening Evergreen. I added three (3) Matte Decorative Dots in Old Olive for a final touch. The Basic White panel was added to a Pear Pizzazz panel then to the front of the card (
Evening Evergreen is the card base!).

For the inside I wanted to bring in the color from the one maple leaf on the front of the card, so stamped the maple leaf with Cinnamon Cider ink, stamping off first then not re-inking. The Basic White panel was adhered to a piece of Pear Pizzazz then added to the inside of the card. And voila – the card is done.

sFor the front of the envelope, I chose the same maple leaf but stamped it in Pear Pizzazz ink to coordinate with the Expressions In Ink SDSP on the envelope flap. Done, done, done! I like this – the sentiment makes it so it could be a masculine card, thinking of you, just saying hello – lots of options. And I like the textures & color.

Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Thoughts Bookmarks

I have had trouble with my computer today – it would not assimilate my photos… 🥴😩 this is VERY late.

Happy Tuesday! Henri has moved on – finally. Very little wind but lots & lots of rain: 2 1/2″ in one day then yesterday another 3/4″. We have a rain gauge that is quite reliable 🙂

Today’s post is about using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch and Nature’s Thoughts Dies, along with some other fabulous Stampin’ Up! products to create bookmarks. Rainbow Glimmer paper was used to die cut the elegant feather with Nature’s Thoughts Dies. And each bookmark was colored using our Blending Brushes and several ink pads: Pale Papaya, Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Bermuda Bay, and Pacific Point.

Aren’t these fun? I confess that I used various retired ribbons for this project. They are a give-away item today to a group I help facilitate. It’s our last meeting and we’re doing a bit of a send-off., along with some yummies.

I die cut all the feathers first: Rainbow Glimmer paper as I mentioned earlier, with the feather die from Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Each tag is Thick Basic White card stock, imprinted with the verse with my computer. I then cut each tag 2 x 5 1/2 (some are shorter), punched them with the Fancy Tag Topper Punch then blended each one individually, depending on which feather was going to be adhered to it. I wanted them to coordinate but not be too matchy-matchy. Each feather was added with liquid glue. I double ribboned most of the tags cuz I liked the way it looked 🙂 and the tags were done. If they were a gift tag they could use some additional embellishment, but bookmarks need to be flat so I left them as you see them.

Using Blending Brushes allows for a lot of creativity: swirls, straight strokes, circles. And there is something cathartic about using the Blending Brushes – relaxing. So I’m encouraging you, if you haven’t used them before, do give it a try. I used three brushes: keeping the tones similar for each brush… Pale Papaya and Mango Melody, Pinks for another & the blues for another. Each time I began with the lighter color, then blended the darker in the same tone. Afterwards I washed each brush with water and allowed it to dry overnight before reusing it again. The ink stains the bristles somewhat, but really not much. The washing allows you to use the brushes in any color any time.

Stampin’ Up! Penguin Playmates

Happy Sunday! Hurricane Henri dumped 2 1/2″ of rain on us last night but the winds were not so bad… thank goodness. More rain is due today so we’ll need to check our little sailboat as soon as it stops – and then pump like crazy 🙂 Ah, the pleasures of owning a boat 😏

My card today is super simple… very little stamping and a bit of fussy cutting cuteness using the Penguin Playmates DSP. And the best part about this paper – it’s FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order! WooHoo!!

So what’s cut out? The penguin, the snowman, the fox and oh yes, the little bird. The background is a piece of Basic White run through the Bark 3D Embossing Folder – to make it look as though it’s a snow storm 🙂 The striped paper is also a piece of the Penguin Playmates DSP. The banner is stamped using the Tiding & Trimmings stamp set and Fresh Freesia ink. The banner ends were created with the Banners Pick a Punch. The card base is also Fresh Freesia.

Stampin’ Up! More Whimsy

Hello friends! Hurricane Henri is headed to the Northeast this weekend… it doesn’t look as though it will be too bad here but we will still stack our patio chairs and bring in cushions ~ it can change in a heartbeat.

I’ve used another new product today from the Whimsy Suite of products – the Wonderful Snowflakes. Gosh they are delicate and pretty. I also used another pattern of the Whimsy & Wonder DSP and Whimsy Dies. I’m enjoying this set very much.

More Whimsy.1

Here’s the how to:

  • Misty Moonlight is the card base
  • The next layer is a Smoky Slate panel run through the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, adhered directly to the card base.
  • I took a piece of the Whimsy & Wonder DSP in Misty Moonlight and adhered it to a Basic White panel, wrapped it with a length of Metallic Mesh Ribbon that I scrunched together and attached in back with Stampin’ Seal. I put dimensionals on the back and added it to the card.
  • I die cut a snowflake from Silver Foil using the So Many Snowflake Dies, added a dimensional to it and attached it to the beautiful Wonderful Snowflake. I put another dimensional on the back of this snowflake and added it to the card front.
  • Finally – I added several Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials in Silver to the card to make it look like nice wet snowflakes. 🙂

For the inside…

Super duper simple…I had two leftover trees cut in Shimmer Paper using the Whimsy Dies ~ attached them to the Basic White panel with liquid glue. This was added to another Smoky Slate panel & adhered to the inside of the card. Done!

No sentiment on this card at all – intentionally. This could so easily be a sympathy card, birthday card, thinking of you card, thank you card, masculine card, or a Christmas card ~ all with a wintry look. I’ll add the sentiment when it’s needed.

For the envelope…

More of the same Whimsy & Wonder DSP on the flap trimmed to fit. For the front I stamped snowflakes in Misty Moonlight ink with the Snowflake Wishes stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! Whimsical Trees Bundle

WooHoo, it’s Friday! That means the weekend is almost here. What’s on that calendar of yours? This weekend is a birthday weekend for our daughter. I hope she has a very special day! Unfortunately we won’t be getting together b ut we D”ID send her a fun package, and of course we’ll call, do a facetime or something. All that has nothingb to do with today’s card though… 🙂

Whimsical Trees Bundle.1

Another Christmas card using the Christmas Tree Dies as the focus. Isn’t this tree just the cutest? And those stars are from this die set as well. Love! For the sentiment banners, both of which are on dimensionals, I used the Whimsical Trees stamp set but die cut them with the Messages Dies – clever, right?

Here’s what I did:

  • Layer the Whimsy & Wonder DSP to the Mint Macaron card base, covering the entire front
  • Cut another panel of the same Whimsy & Wonder DSP and layer on a Gold Foil sheet. TIP: I find when layering on foil it is better with Stampin’ Seal or Seal +. Put dimensionals on the back of this panel & set aside.
  • Die cut the trees using Shimmer Paper and the Christmas Tree Dies (from the Whimsical Trees Bundle)
  • Die cut the stars using Gold Foil and Christmas Tree Dies. Adhere these to each tree with a very small dot of glue on the star. TIP: putting the glue on the star helps to keep you from using too much glue 🙂
  • Adhere each tree to the card front with liquid glue
  • Stamp the sentiments (on Shimmer Paper), first in Mint Macaron ink, then VersaMark ink; sprinkle with Clear Embossing powder & heat set
  • Die cut the sentiments using the Messages Die, put on dimensionals and add to the card front
  • For a final touch, add the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels in Evening Evergreen
  • Now add this panel to the card front

For the inside… super easy

  • Cover the inside of the card with more of the same Whimsy & Wonder DSP
  • On a piece of Basic White, stamp the ornaments in Memento ink – these come from none other than the Whimsical Trees stamp set! Color using Stampin Blends: Mint Macaron, Lt Daffodil Delight, Lt Real Read & Bronze
  • Stamp the sentiment in Mint Macaron ink – also from Whimsical Trees stamp set
  • Adhere the panel to the inside of the card & voila – all done.

For the envelope:

  • Cover the flap with more of the same Whimsy & Wonder DSP, trim to fit
  • For the front, stamp this adorable tree with Mint Macaron ink – from the Whimsical Trees stamp set

Stampin’Up! Christmas Tree Dies with Peaceful Prints DSP

Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend – woohoo, right? How IS everyone… with this Covid variant flare-up, it’s got be nerve-wracking. Thinking about all of you out there – take care of one another.

I played with another new set that’s in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini catalog – the Christmas Tree Dies, part of the Whimsical Trees Bundle (page 25). And when I saw ‘played’ – just barely… this set is a gem and really, I’ve hardly touched it.

That tree is just a perfect match for this paper – Peaceful Prints 12 x 12 DSP – which is a FREE item in the Sale-a-bration catalog (with a purchase of $50). The two prints that I used on this card come from this pack of papers. So let’s talk about how I did this…

  • I did all the card cuts… Peaceful Prints DSP layered with Sahara Sand card stock.
  • I ran the Real Red card stock through the Bark 3D embossing folder – you know, tree, bark, they go together, right?
  • I cut the tree from Garden Green card stock using the C’mas Tree Dies
  • I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink on a Basic White panel using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set, then die cut using the Ornate Layers Dies

Once all the layers were die cut and stamped, I put it together:

  • the plaid panel was adhered directly to the Thick Basic White card base with Stampin’ Seal.
  • the Real Red embossed panel was added with dimensionals
  • the deer panel was adhered directly to the Real Red piece with Stampin’ Seal
  • the tree was added with dimensionals
  • the sentiment panel got double dimensionals (one on top of the other) under the two ends
  • as a final touch I added several Gilded Gems to the tree – and the card front was done…

For the inside…

  • stamp the sentiment in Sahara Sand ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set on a Basic White panel
  • stamp the tree, off-set, in Garden Green ink(stamping off once) using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set
  • layer this panel to a Sahara Sand card stock, then add it to the inside of the card – voila!

For the envelope…

On a Basic White envelope, stamp the trees with the Evergreen Elegance stamp set with Garden Green ink – stamping off once first, then not re-inking.

Cover the envelope with Peaceful Prints DSP, trim to fit and done, done, done.
