Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Hexagons for World Card Making Day

Good morning! This is another exciting day in the Stampin’ Up! world – World Card Making Day! There will be presentations this afternoon from 2-5 MT provided by Stampin’ Up! and presentations by some of our own Inkin’ Krew beginning at 9 AM ET. Please note those time differences – Mountain Time and Eastern Time! One of the cards I will be sharing today highlights a new bundle that is an ‘early release’ for demonstrators called Heartfelt Hexagons. This bundle will be in the Jan-April 2024 catalog! What? 2024? Yep – Stampin’ Up! plans ahead :O)

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Hexagons for WCMD '23

This is a very masculine card, but the layout is fabulous. If you connect with me today on our Inkin’ Krew Facebook, you’ll see this layout used to make a similar but very feminine card.

I used Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper as a focal pattern. I wrapped the Textured Ribbon around it (in Copper Clay), securing it in back with Stampin’ Seal. This was layered on Copper Clay card stock with dimensionals. On another piece of Earthen Elegance DSP I stamped the outline image of the hexagon in Early Espresso ink and the two insert areas with Pecan Pie ink – both using stamps from Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set. I used my embossing buddy to remove any static from the piece then inked the sentiment in VersaMark, sprinkled it with Copper Embossing Powder and heat set it, then punched it with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. On the back of this hexagon, I put dimensionals in each of the corners and attached it over the ribbon. Two additions to complete the card front: with another length of the Textured Ribbon, I slipped it under the other ribbon in nplace and moved it close to the attached hexagon and tied a single knot, securing it in place with a glue dot; I also added Brushed metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots in Copper to give a bit of sparkle. And the card front was done!

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Hexagon WCMD, inside

For the inside… I took a Very Vanilla panel and stamped each of the corners with this delicate filigree stamp from Heartfelt Hexagons stamp set in Early Espresso ink. Using Layering Leaves stamp set, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink. I adhered the panel in place, centering it and the card was done. Easy peasy. And a great masculine card.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Hexagons for WCMD, card & envelope

For the envelope, I used another portion of the Earthen Elegance DSP to cover the flap and trimmed it to fit. I punched another hexagon from the same Earthen Elegance DSP with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch and adhered one half of it to the left on the front, and removed the extra piece with paper snips. I definitely adds to the masculine look; not sure if I like it though. Maybe that should have been from another piece of the DSP so it wasn’t so dark. This is being sent to a friend of ours who recently lost his wife. I think he will appreciate it.

OK – so a couple of things… World Card Making Day – today

You may have learned that I tend to make different cards and not all the same design. Yep, that’s part of my DNA, don’t duplicate. While the far left card and the far right card are similar, still, they are not the same.

Card 1, far left, uses a red card base in the card pack. Adhered directly to the card base is one of the larger panels from the pack of the very cute bears – or should I say Beary Cute :O) I used a piece of Vellum Basic DSP (polka dots) and adhered it to a Misty Moonlight strip cut the entire width. I added stickers from the Beary Christmas Memories and More card pack to the strip and three Irridescent Pastel Gems in Balmy Blue.

Card 2, middle, also uses a red card base from the Beary Christmas Memories & More Card Pack. I used my paper snips to trim down one of the card images and added it directly to the card base. I then cut a banner with the Nested Essentials Dies from Balmy Blue card stock. With my paper snips I again trimmed one of the smaller cards to use the sentiment banner. I adhered the sentiment banner to the Balmy Blue one, put dimensionals on and attached it to the card. I added three Festive Pearls in Red.

Card 3, far right, is the simplest yet: Balmy Blue card base from the Beary Christmas Mem’ries & More Cards & Envelopes; a Basic White panel then the bear image all adhered one on the other. I trimmed down this sentiment banner from one of the cards in the pack and attached it directly to the card. As a final touch I added an Irridescent Pastel Gem to each end of the sentiment. And done! Three more cards for my Christmas card list :O) This is such a great card pack and of course, I used the coordinating Beary Christmas Memories & More Cards & Envelopes for the card pack. So convenient!!!

Kits are just one of the items Stampin’ Up! does so well. If interested in other kit options, please visit my store here.
