Stampin’ Up! Diagonal Gate Fold for Christmas

It’s Tuesday – shall we call it Terrific Tuesday? I sorta like that 🙂 Todays card is just that – terrific. This is a fun fold that is not new, but since I never made one, well, it was time. I’ve used the Tidings of Christmas 6×6 DSP and combined it with the Evergreen Elegance bundle which may be found in the Annual Catalog, page 91. This is such a fun and easy card to make.

How to make…do all your scoring first, then cut your papers and adhere.

Scoring

  • begin with your card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/4, scored on the long side at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2. (mine is Cherry Cobbler)
  • score the left panel from the upper left corner to the 1st score line on the diagonal
  • score the right panel from the upper left corner of the 2nd score line to the bottom right corner
  • burnish the score lines so they are mountain, valley, valley, mountain

Cutting your papers

  • cut each card stock layer 2 5/8 x 5 3/8 (there will be 4, three in Soft Succulent, 1 in Basic White
  • cut TWO of the Soft Succulent layers on the diagonal from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (the remaining piece will be the center panel)
  • cut the Basic White panel from the upper right corner to the lower left corner
  • cut a Basic White panel for the card center 2 1/2 x 5 1/4
  • cut DSP layers 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 (I cut three coordinating panels)
  • cut TWO DSP layers on the diagonal from the upper left corner to the lower right corner
  • cut ONE DSP layer from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (this is my Soft Succulent DSP layer), there will be one of these left over

TIP: When cutting your DSP layers, if there is a definite direction to the design, make certain you are cutting it in the proper direction. 🙂

Next steps

  • Stamp the center Basic White panel and add decoration
    • The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set
    • The trees at the bottom are punched using the Evergreen Border Punch, Soft Succulent card stock and Evening Evergreen card stock and adhered to the panel with liquid glue
    • Adhere this panel to the center of the card
  • Stamp the diagonally trimmed Basic White panel using Evening Evergreen ink and the smallest tree from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set: first full strength, then the two side trees without re-inking
  • Adhere this Basic White panel as shown in photo

You are nearly done…

  • Adhere the trimmed panels with liquid glue: layers are card stock then DSP!
  • Stamp the sentiment for the front banner in Cherry Cobbler ink using the Evergreen Elegance stamp set – on a Basic White strip
  • Cut the banner with this beautiful die using the Seasonal Labels Dies (this is in the Jul-Dec Mini Catalog on page 17 and is part of the Christmas Season bundle)
  • Adhere the die cut sentiment banner to a piece of Soft Succulent card stock 1 1/8 x 4 1/4
  • Close the card and adhere the banner with dimensionals on the left side only
  • Add Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the banner and to the tree – voila! Beautiful, right?

This card will need a handmade envelope as the finished size is 5 1/2 x 6. I will include directions for the envelope in tomorrow’s post. 🙂

Eleven states will be offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July or August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” To see the names of participating states, products exempted from tax, and sales tax holiday dates, click here.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday w/ In Good Taste DSP Fun Fold

Happy Monday and all that… hope you enjoyed your weekend. We had spectacular weather, so good for working outside some. Today – well, hot and humid once more so working inside will be more productive I’m thinkin’.

Today’s card is super easy, a bit of a fun fold, perfect for using some In Good Taste DSP – which is on SALE for 15% off (more details below).

B’day w/ In Good Taste DSP.1

Both of the DSP on this card come from In Good Taste DSP pack and they look great together. One of the things about this card is it can so easily be a masculine card – or not. I appreciate its versatility. This smaller strip of DSP looks as though it has texture, but doesn’t. It also opens to the inside of the card. In other words, The background DSP is a flat surface :O). Here’s how to do this…

  • Night of Navy card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
  • In Good Taste DSP layer is 4 x 5 1/4
  • Basic White panel 2 1/2 x 10 1/2, with DSP layer (2 1/2 x 5 1/4) adhered to the front of it
  • Basic White panel adhered to card base
  • Add Just Jade strip (1/4 x 5 1/4) left of panel
  • Create sentiment strip
    • stamp sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on a Basic White strip (1/2 x 3 1/2); angle end.
    • add BW strip to Night of Navy (5/8 x 3 3/4) with liquid glue; angle end
    • add Flowers for Every Season Ribbon in Just Jade to the sentiment strip w/ Seal+
    • put dimensionals on the back of the panel and add to card panel
    • add three Playing with Resin Dots in Just Jade to the left of the sentiment
B’day w/ In Good Taste DSP.2

For the inside… stamp the sentiment in Just Jade ink using the Pansy Patch stamp set again. Add a strip of the In Good Taste DSP to the bottom of the panel – and voila! This card is complete.

For the envelope i did some fussy cutting of the In Good Taste DSP to create a fun edge and adhered it to the env envelope flap… done.done.done.

I like how easy this card was to make and how fun to have a different width for the additional panel. If you wanted, you could easily add a Basic White panel (4 x 5 1/4) to the back of the card to have more writing space. Remember this DSP is currently 15% off – see more info below.

Stampin’ Up! Cork DSP Sneak Peek

Hello again – happy Saturday! It is one gorgeous day here on the East coast and I am enjoying the freshness of the air. I am creating my post while on the front porch 🙂 It has been so exceedingly hot lately that I would not have even considered doing this earlier in the week. But here we are… I hope you have something fun planned for today.

My card today is super easy – and uses the new (out Aug 3 in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog) Cork 12 x 12 DSP. I like using our Note Cards & Envelopes, so this is one of those. Here’s the cork is a close-up photo.

Can you see the wonderful texture in this cork? It’s easy to work with. I’ve layered this on Pear Pizzazz and adhered them both to the Basic White Note Card with liquid glue. I then die cut a Basic White piece using the Tailor Made Tags Dies and stamped it with the Dragonfly Garden stamp with Early Espresso ink. I love this stamp! It is one of my favorites. I then colored it using various Markers: Pear Pizzazz, Bumblebee, Highland Heather and Soft Suede. I added a sweet Bumblebee trinket and then some Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, put dimensionals on the back and added it to the card. Simple, sweet and it would make a nice gift set if several were made. I may do that – we’ll see. If I do, I would probably put them in a similarly decorated mini Paper Pumpkin box. Hmmm – another project, another post 🙂

Here you can see the finished project. With the envelope I covered the flap with Subtles 6×6 DSP in Pear Pizzazz and stamped the front with the same stamp but chose not to color it. It’s beautiful as is.

Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek of Delicate Dahlias to order

One of the benefits of being a demonstrator is for Stampin’ Up! is preordering from new catalogs. What that means is that when the catalog goes live to demonstrators, we have the opportunity to order stamps, dies suites, bundles, ribbons, embellishments – all that – early – so we can ‘play’ with new product. Creativity at our fingertips… This new catalog – the Jul- Dec 2021 Mini Catalog goers live to customers Aug 3. With orders of $50 or $100, there is also a Sale-a-bration Catalog from which to order FREE product. Today’s Delicate Dahlia is from that catalog. And I;ve used it to make a sympathy card – well, two cards. They use the same layout but are different colors.

Card 1 uses Misty Moonlight elements; Card 2 uses Polished Pink.

Card 1 uses the 2020-2022 In Color 6×6 DSP in Misty Moonlight; Card 2 uses 2021-2023 In Color 6×6 DSP.

Card 1 uses Flowers for Every Season Ribbon in Misty Moonlight & Silver; Card 2 uses Open Weave Ribbon in Polished Pink.

Card 1 uses a new 3D embossing folder called Timeworn Type 3D EF; Card 2 does not use an embossing folder.

Card 1 makes use of Stitched So Sweetly Dies for the sentiment; Card 2 sentiment is stamped directly on the card front.

Card 1 has a rectangular centerpiece; Card 2 has a square centerpiece.

Card 1 uses Metallic Pearls; Card 2 uses Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Both use the stamp set from the Sale-a-bration Catalog that is FREE with a $100 order: Delicate Dahlias. This is a 2-step stamp and a Distinctive stamp, meaning step 2 gives light and dark ‘shading’. It’s gorgeous, right?

Here is the inside of each card. Both use sentiments from Inspiring Thoughts stamp set. Card 2 uses a background stamp from the June Paper Pumpkin kit – but… you could use a stamp from Artistically Inked or Watercolor Shapes stamp set – and stamp off at least once.

Here you see the completed cards with the envelope. I love both and am not certain I can say one is better than the other. The one on the left could be for a man, while card 2, Polished Pink is definitely for a woman.

Stampin’ Up! Painted Christmas Suite

Yesterday I indicated today’s card would b e from the new catalog – and it definitely IS! This Painted Christmas Suite has just beautiful products in it: Gold Holly Leaves; two stamp bundles (yes! TWO!), ribbon (not used on this card), and gorgeous, gorgeous Designer Series Paper.

Here you can see the Gold Holly Leaves (adhered with a glue dot), these extra fun banner dies, and the stunning pine cone dies. The pine cone dies are in two parts: a more solid background and the more intricate top layer. I die cut the more solid layer in Basic White then there were a couple of single pine cone dies with the intricate pattern – and those were die cut from Shimmer paper. (there is also a large intricate die, but I chose not to use that here.) These were adhered to the DSP with liquid glue.

The sentiment banner is two separate dies and the cute little white ‘add on’ are also part of it. The larger is die cut from Evening Evergreen card stock and layered on the card with dimensionals. The small white pieces were added with just a dot of liquid glue. The sentiment is from Christmas to Remember stamp set (in the suite of products), stamped in Evening Evergreen and added with dimensionals. Then the Gold Holly Leaves were attached with glue dots.

The layers are: Evening Evergreen card base, Basic White and the Painted Christmas DSP.

For the inside the sentiment is from the Painted Christmas stamp set and the pine needles are from Christmas Season stamp set – both stamped in Evening Evergreen on the Basic White panel.

Here it is much easier to see how beautiful this piece of DSP is – on the envelope flap. And the pine needle stamp is the same used on the inside of the card stamped in Evening Evergreen.

This suite of products includes two stamp bundles: Christmas Season, which includes images of pine cones, berrries, leaf spray, holly leaves and more and it’s coordinating Seasonal Labels Dies; and Christmas To Remember stamp set that has various sentiments and it’s coordinating Christmas Pinecone Dies that includes the dies (and more) that I used on the card front. As mentioned earlier, this suite also includes the Gold Holly leaves, the ribb on and the DSP – all to coordinate. Stampin’ Up! Biggest Wish B’day & Scraps

Happy day after the 4th! Did you enjoy the fireworks? Oh my goodness, beautiful – and lots of fire crackers around us both before& after the fireworks. We went out on the front porch and it sounded like shooting…. our dog didn’t like it so much, so we went inside. Taking care of our pets really must be high on the priority list!

Today’s card is super simple… I used some scraps that were in 2″ pieces, some square, some not + Pattern Party DSP.

Biggest Wish B’day & Scraps.1

This could so easily be a masculine card – and I’m grateful for that as it wasn’t my first intention. Masculine cards just don’t come easily and this fits that bill if/ when I need it 🙂 There are actually three pieces here that are 2″ square, one is 2 x 3 1/4 and another is 2 x 1 1/4. They are all adhered to a Coastal Cabana panel then directly to the Basic White thick card base – with liquid glue. I then used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to die cut two pieces. On the smaller die cut is stamped the Birthday in Coastal Cabana ink then the happy in Memento Black ink. This was added to the larger piece with dimensionals & the larger die cut was added to the card front, also with dimensionals. Two Playing w/ Pattern Resin Dots were added for that final touch – and the card front was done! Easy peasy, right?

For the inside I kept it simple too – another scrap strip from Pattern Party adhered to Coastal Cabana and added to a Basic White panel, which was adhered to the inside of the card. Dome!

For the envelope I actually cut a piece for the envelope flap – from Pattern Party DSP, adhered it with liquid glue and trimmed it to fit. That’s it and ready to send… <:)

WooHoo! It is Jul 1 ~ and do you know what that means? 15% off select Designer Series Papers – Yippee! I’m placing my order right after this post goers live – oh, and you can find more information below.

Today’s card is super simple but does take some planning ahead to create the ‘backdrop’ or your own DSP. Here’s the card…

  • C’mas Card w/ Alcohol / Blends.1

Can you see the use of the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder? I think the second photo shows it better. I was hoping it would show more, but it doesn’t so much. I love the look though. And the Gilded Leafing in a few places adds an elegant element and it kinda looks like lightning going through the trees. The front sentiment comes from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set, gold embossed & die cut with the Ornate Layers Dies then layered on a larger panel of Just Jade card stock.This sentiment banner was mounted on dimensionals and added to the card front. I added three Holiday Gems for a bit of glam 🙂

Steps for making the card front:

  • Begin with a panel of Vellum 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
  • With the darkest of Stampin’ Blends, add color to the Vellum. Here I used Dk. Just Jade & Dk. Granny Apple Green.
  • Spritz with 91% or greater Alcohol just till colors begin to ‘move’. If necessary, lift the Vellum for the alcohol to run a bit. The Vellum will curl some on the edges but once you have the colors the way you want them, just leave it flat to dry. This does not take very long. You can work on the rest of the card while waiting OR you can use the low setting on your heat tool to help it dry faster.
  • Once the Vellum is dry, trim to the size desired (I cut this to 4 x 5 1/4) and reserve the cut pieces.
  • Adhere it to a panel of Basic White – same size. There are two ways to do this…
    • Idea 1: Use a piece of sponge and lightly add liquid glue all over the card stock, then adhere Vellum to it.
    • Idea 2: Use Stampin’ Seal along the edges and a swipe down the middle of the Basic White panel. It’s important to get it to the edge of the card stock as the Vellum can still curl.
  • Run through the Evergreen Forest Embossing Folder
  • Adhere this Vellum/ Basic White to a layer of Gold Foil Sheets cut slightly larger (4 1/8 x 5 3/8) with liquid glue.
  • Adhere this to the card base (Just Jade 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2) – again with liquid glue.

For the inside of the card…

On a panel of Basic White, adhere one of the remaining strips with Stampin’ Seal. Stamp the tree in Evening Evergreen ink stamped off once, then the ‘grass’ in Just Jade, also stamped off. Adhere the panel to the inside of the card with liquid glue. This tree & grass is from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set.

For the envelope…

C’mas Card w/ Blends/ Alcohol.4

Adhere the remaining Vellum strip to the envelope front w/ Stampin’ Seal. Stamp the flap in full strength Just Jade ink using the ‘splotch’ from the Artistically Inked stamp set.

Love how this turned out! And creating the card front with Vellum, Blends & Alcohol was freeing…. In other words, it is creativity at work. I encourage you to try this using various colors. What’s to lose?

Stampin’ Up! Feel Better w/ Artistically Inked

I have a quick & easy card for you today using the fabulous bundle Artistically Inked – and a few other items too. The more I play with this set, the more I like it. The stamps are distinctive stamps, with lots of variation and oh so versatile.

For the front of the card, I took a Basic White panel and ran it through a new embossing folder called Pretty Flowers and it is lovely. I mounted it on a Thick Basic White panel the same size for strength. The rose is stamped in Polished Pink and the leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz (on Basic White scrap) and die cut with Artistic Dies. The gold trim is from the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack. The are some leaves from the pack as well and I turned them over to the white side and stamped them with one of the stamps in the Artistically Inked stamp set – again in Pear Pizzazz ink. They are the ones that look just a bit splotchy at the top of the rose. I then stamped the sentiment from Back On Your Feet stamp set on another scrap of Basic White in Pear Pizzazz ink and die cut it with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Everything is adhered with liquid glue except the rose and the sentiment banner; they are attached with dimensionals. For a final touch I added a linen thread bow with a glue dot and the fun adhesive-backed sequins are also from the Artistically Inked Ephemera Pack – and I added three. This front panel was attached to a Thick Basic White card base with dimensionals ~ and the front was done.

For the inside I stamped the ‘splotchy’ using one of the stamps in Artistically Inked stamp set in Pear Pizzazz, stamped off once. Then I over-stamped in Polished Pink, the sentiment from Positive Thoughts stamp set, again on a Basic White panel. This was adhered directly to the inside of the card with liquid glue and the card was complete.

For the envelope, I took that same ‘splotchy’ stamp and stamped it on the envelope flap with Polished pink ink – full strength. Before stamping, I had added sticky notes to the fold so I wouldn’t stamp on the front 🙂 The front of the envelope got a single stamp of the rose, again in Polished Pink. And voila!

Love this stamp bundle – Artistically Inked, and the new embossing folder – Pretty Flowers. Can’t wait to play with that some more.

The Pattern Party DSP panel is adhered directly to the card base with liquid glue (3 3/8 x 3 7/8). The M&M card panel is adhered to Pale Papaya cards stock (yep, liquid glue) that is 3 1/8 x 4 1/8. I stamped the sentiment from Elegantly Said stamp set in Memento Black ink onto a white banner from the card pack and added it directly to the Petal Pink banner from the card pack. I placed dimensionals on the back of the Petal Pink banner and adhered it to the card front. Two Matte Black dots were added and the card front was complete.

For the inside, I added more of the same Pattern Party DSP (4 x 5 1/2) to the card base. I then stamped the flower from Hand-Penned stamp set in Memento Black ink, then the sentiment from that same set – also in Memento Black ink – to the Basic White panel (3 3/4 x 5 1/4). This was adhered directly to the DSP and the card was done.

I did nothing extra to the envelope – it is beautiful as it is! Voila – ready to go… I really like how adding a bit of this and a bit of that to the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack creates such beauty.

Stampin’ Up! Half Pinwheel Card

Hello again – it’s Friday! We have gorgeous weather here on the East Coast – about 72 degrees, sunny and fabulous. Tomorrow it will be hot once again, so we are appreciating this weather. As a matter of fact, I was extra lazy this AM – sat on the front porch with my coffee & the birds singing – in lieu of posting! UGH!!! So here I am AFTERNOON and sending it out. 🥴

Today’s card is one we did in class yesterday and I’m really pleased with the way it turned out – a half pinwheel card. Here two that I have done and those in the class as well. They didn’t want to be in the photo!

Each of these is different from the next but the same dimensions and the same idea. The photo on the left uses the Fine Art Gallery DSP that retires Jun 30 and the right card uses the Simply Succulent Suite of products – also retiring Jun 30. The nice part about this card is that it fits an A2 size envelope – finished size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

  • Card base is 5 1/2 x 7 1/8 scored on the long side @ 1, 2, 3 & 4″. Cut another panel 3 1/8 x 5 1/2.
  • Burnish well on score lines; fold together to form a box. Adhere the last fold to the long side of the card base with liquid glue.

  • Adhere the 3 1/8 x 5 1/2 panel to the extended section. It will look like a Z when added.
  • Adhere decorative panels to appropriate sections: 2 1/8 x 5 1/2; 3 1/8 x 5 1/2
  • Using third largest of the Stitched So Sweetly dies, die cut a sentiment panel. Stamp the appropriate sentiment. The one on the left is from Elegantly Said stamp set. The sentiment in the right photo is from Simply Succulents stamp set.
  • Adhere to the front panel with dimensionals so that when ‘closed’ the banner is centered on the card.
  • Decorate as desired. The left card had Champagne Rhinestone Jewels added. T
    he card on the right had felt flowers from the suite of products and a lovely double bow using the linen thread from the set.

On the back of the card I added more DSP and die cuts using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to add a special note.

Before adhering the left panel to the back of the card, I wrapped the same thread around once and tied a sweet bow leaving long tails to drape the card. Since the thread is so thin, there was little added dimension and the DSP remained flat once adhered. I do like how this added a finishing touch to this card!

On this card, I used Calypso Coral card stock run through an embossing folder. I really liked the added texture to the card. Additional DSP was added to the envelope flap that coordinated to the card front – from the Simply Succulent Suite of products.

And that’s it! Fun project.
