Stampin’ Up! Whimsical Trees

Hi there! It’s mid week or hump day, or we could say – it’s Wednesday <:) Hope your week has been good so far. I’m back to a Christmas card today – can you believe it? I’m addicted. Today’s card uses some fun products: Green Foil, Be Dazzled Specialty Paper (FREE item during Sale-a-bration!), Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP, Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon & Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder – f-u-n…

The card base is Blushing Bride card stock, with the front embossed using the Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder. Pink is a very non-traditional color (for me) for Christmas, but this works. I fussy cut presents from the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP to add for under the tree. There are larger piece of the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP behind the tree & it’s adhered to Crumb Cake card stock. I wrapped a length of the pretty Pink Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon around the bottom & adhered it in back with Stampen’ Seal+. This was added to the card with dimensionals. I die cut the tree from Green Foil, part of the Red & Green Foil pack, a carry over from last year. For garland I die cut from the Be Dazzled Specialty Paper (did I mention already that it’s Free during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order?). This cut so cleanly, piece of cake! I adhered the garland to the foil tree with mini dots & dabs of liquid glue. The tree was added to the panel with dimensionals. The fussy cut packages were added, some with dimensioanals, some with liquid glue: the large pink package has dimensionals, the crumb cake package is attached with liquid glue, and the green package has loiquid glue on the left portion and doubled dimensionals under the right end.

On the panel of Basic White card stock I stamped the sentiment from the Whimsical Trees stamp set in Blushing Bride ink. A strip of the green Whimsy & Wonder SDSP was adhered at the bottom and an extra fussy cut package was added as well. The panel was adhered to Crumb Cake card stock then into the cards inside.

For the envelope, the flap got more of the Whimsy & Wonder SDSP trimmed to fit. For the front I die cut one of the trees from the Whimsy & Wonder SDAP and adhered it with liquid glue. I love this tree – and I really appreciate that several of the dies in the Christmas Trees Dies coordinates with this paper pack. Stampin’ Up! scores again…

Stampin’ Up! Evergreen Elegance and Peaceful Place

Welcome to my Tuesday card! I hope you had a great long weekend, whatever you did. Today’s card uses the wonderful Peaceful Place Specialty DSP for the background and a die cut of another tree using the Christmas Trees Dies. Let me talk just a moment about this Specialty DSP – it is stunning. The images have a bit of silver sparkle in them that really add that special touch. It is a must have!

The sparkle doesn’t show in a photograph the way it does in person ~ you’ll just have to trust me on this. I added more sparkle with Black Glitter Paper die cut with one of the tree outline dies from Christmas Trees Dies, then overlaid it with a Basic White die cut from the same dies. I’ve popped this up on dimensionals to make it a real focus. For additional sparkle I added Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the tree on the left and Basic Rhinestone Jewels to the tree on the right. I mounted this on Basic White card stock then directly onto the Cherry Cobbler card base and the front was done.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment from Evergreen Elegance in Cherry Cobbler ink then stamped the tree, stamping off first, in Basic Gray ink. Doesn’t it mimic the tree in the DSP? I love that! This Basic White panel was adhered to the inside of the card & voila!

For the envelope, I used the the same tree from Evergreen Elegance & Basic Gray ink, stamping off first then onto the envelope front. For the flap I used the same sheet of Peaceful Place DSP, but just the upper, more plain portion, adhered it to the envelope flap and trimmed it to fit. I really like this card!

Stampin’ Up! Alcohol + Inks + Sea Life Dies

Good day Stampin’ Friends! It’s Labor Day… for some that means being home from their paying job & doing projects with the family (labor?) and for others it means working their paying job… whatever you are doing today, may it be productive or whatever it is you need it to be. Just be safe.

Today’s card is a mix of several dies and a wonderful background created with 99% alcohol on Vellum + re-inkers. The re-inkers were Night of Navy & Coastal Cabana. I began by cutting a full sheet of Vellum in fourths. This meant they were each a bit larger than need & could easily cut down afterwards. I spritzed with the 99% alcohol then added drops of re-inkers and moved the drops around by picking up the Vellum. If I wanted more movement I spritzed again. This was set aside to dry on its own. If puddles occurred I dabbed them with a paper towel. Once dry I cut it down to 4 x 5 1/4 and mounted it on a Basic White panel using Stampin’ Seal.

The seaweed was die cut from Pear Pizzazz card stock with the Smooth Sailing Dies.
The seashell was stamped with stamped off Cinnamon Cider ink on a scrap of Expressions in Ink DSP
The fish was die cut from Gold Foil with the Sea Life Dies
Each was added to the Vellum panel with liquid glue, except the seashell, which was attached with dimensionals
Artistic Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins were added for a bit of sparkle.
The entire panel got dimensionals and attached to the Pacific Point card base

For the inside I used the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set: the ‘sand’ was stamped with Crumb Cake ink and the starfish with Cinnamon Cider ink (stamped off) on a Basic White panel, then added to the inside of the card with Stampin’ Seal.

For the Basic White Medium envelope, I added more of the Expressions In Ink DSP to the flap and that was it.

Fun card, right? And something different from the many Christmas cards I’ve been showing. 😉

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place

Hi stamping friends. It’s Sunday and Labor Day weekend. Are planning on a picnic with friends? Just be safe, ok. Sometimes things can get out of hand… so be cool and have fun.

Today’s card using DSP as the focus. As a matter of fact, no die cuts, no stamping either. Here it is…

Peaceful Place Specialty DSP is absolutely stunning and it shows off all by itself. This card is made from two different patterns from the pack. Are those trees cute or what?! The tree panel is 2 1/8 wide by 4 tall and the Silver Foil Specialty DSP paper panel behind it is 2 1/4 x 4 1/8. Before I go any further, let me tell you about this Specialty Pack of foils. There are three 12 x 12 sheets in the pack: one is bright silver, the next is darker silver and the other sheet is darker yet. And they are brushed, not plain. This is the medium, which is hard to discern in the photo. The large panel is 4 x 5 1/4 – a standard size, and mounted on a piece of Black Glitter Paper. Black Glitter Paper is pretty cool paper and I don’t like to waste it, so I removed the center of it for later use. You can seer the back side in the next photo.

You can also see that I mounted the Peaceful Place DSP with Basic White card stock for strength, then wrapped the Black Glittered Organzas Ribbon around it. I mounted the tree panel onto the larger panel with dimensionals. I wanted a greeting and pullerd out the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set, stamped it in Versamark ink on a basic White scrap, sprinkled it with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set it. I then fussy cut the sentiment and cut it apart. Dimesnionals were placed under the left end and liquid glue to the right end of the sentiment & put in place. The single word (TIME) was added with liquid glue and the card front was done. Oh yes, the card base is Basic Black card stock 🙂

The rest of the sentiment is on the inside! And I added it to a piece of the same Silver Foil Specialty Pack paper that I used on the front. This was added to a slightly larger piece of Basic Black then into the inside of the card. I hope you can see a bit of shading on the inside… it’s with a Blending Brush & Basic. Gray ink – very lightly brushed so it’s not so stark.

I did a special creation on the envelope flap… :O) First I used Balmy Blue ink and the Blending Brush to blend color on the Basic White panel. I then added a bit of the Basic Gray ink and did the same. I then lightly spritzed the paper with water, holding the paper a good 12″ away, sprinkled it with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set it. The trick is not to get too much water on the paper ~ but it creates a cool effect. The reason I did this is I wanted to carry over the silver look of the DSP without using DSP. This was something I read on Pinterest as an idea to try but I do not have the persons name so cannot give credit. But this is something I will definitely try again. The panel was added to the envelope flap and trimmed to fit.

For the front of the envelope I had this small piece of DSP, trimmed it down a bit and added it with liquid glue. Now it’s done!

Stampin’ Up! Tidings and Trimmings Greetings

Hi everyone ~ how’s your Saturday? It’s another cool morning here on the East coast AND it’s also Labor day weekend! Being a Shore Community we get lots of traffic and it began in earnest pretty early in the day. We were out in our little 16′ sailboat when a wall of Cigarette boats came screaming toward us. This type of boat is obnoxiously loud, so much so that earplugs should probably be used ~ and when 25 come, well, it’s less than nice. Just sayin’, it would be good if we could outlaw them on our little river.

The card today is yet another Christmas card and made with the Tidings & Trimmings bundle (Christmas Trimmings Dies).

What do you think? Rather striking isn’t it? The Gold foil & Very Vanilla card stock make a nice contrast. Here’s what I did…

On a Very vanilla panel I used one of the Blending Brushes and Sahara Sand ink to create a soft background
I used my Sahara Sand Marker to splatter some color all over the panel. This is done with the large tip end being flicked downward against the cap of the marker. It makes little dots, splatters, and you control how much is on the paper.
I layered this to a piece of Evening Evergreen card stock just slightly larger.
I die cut the star from a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and the star overlay from Gold foil. These were adhered together with dots of liquid glue. I put dimensionals on the back and set it aside.
I had a 1/2″ strip of Tidings & Trimmings 6×6 DSP, some Scalloped Lace Trim and a 1/4″ strip of Cherry Cobbler that I layered together and added to the card front with liquid glue.
I attached the star off-center with the dimensionals.
I stamped the leaves on Very Vanilla scraps: Evening Evergreen ink & Soft Succulent ink with the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set & die cut them with the Christmas Trimmings Dies.
I die cut several holly leaves from more of the Gold foil and a couple of small stars – yep, using the Christmas Trimmings Dies.
I also die cut the berries from Real Red card stock and a leaf bunch from Evening Evergreen card stock with more dies from the Christmas Trimmings Dies.
I layered these as you see them, with liquid glue
Finally, I stamped the word Greetings on a small strip of Very Vanilla card stock and trimmed it, added dimensionals on the back and attached it under the ribbon.
This entire panel was attached to the Thick Very vanilla card base with dimensionals. It COULD be adhered flat against the card stock if you wanted to do so.

The inside got a stamp with Evening Evergreen ink using the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set – and that was it. The Very Vanilla panel was added to the inside of the card. I must say, this looks a bit plain to me. I will probably add some of the same treatment as the front of the card: Blending Brush with Sahara Sand ink and then splatter with the Sahara Sand marker.

The envelope got some special treatment with the Gold embossing on the front: stamp in Versamark ink, sprinkle Gold Embossing Powder over it, then heat set. The envelope flap is covered with the same Tidings & Trimmings 6×6 DSP as is used on the card front. Done!

Hope you like… this was fun to do, mixing & matching, coordinating card stocks that work so easily together and just one bundle! This is such a versatile set ~ I would love to see what you do with it. How about a card NOT a Christmas card using this bundle? Could you do that?

Stampin’ Up! Sympathy with Delicate Dahlias

Wow – it’s Friday! Hurricane Ida has left us a little soggier than usual, but otherwise in good form, thank goodness. Today is c-o-o-l, a mere 54 degrees ~ unusual for this time of year. But I’ll take it!

Today’s card is another sympathy card using the wonderful Delicate Dahlias stamp set and Merry Merlot ink. Before I go into detail about the card, let me remind you this stamp is available as a FREE product during Sale-a-bration (NOW!) when placing a $50 order.

This is a two-step stamp, meaning there is an outline stamp for the dahlia and leaves & a filler stamp for both as well – two step 🙂 One of the things that’s really helpful when receiving a two step stamp is to mark on the flat side of the stamp a ‘matching point’ – doing this on both the outline and filler stamp. This will save lots of frustration when trying to make stamps line up. My card panel is Very Vanilla and I stamped opposite corners, first with the outline stamp, then the filler stamp. I also stamped the outline stamp on a piece of sticky note and fussy cut it so as to use it as a mask for stamping the leaves. Once I had the mask in place I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink. When doing the filler for the leaves, I stamped off once first. The sentiment is from this same stamp set – Delicate Dahlias, stamped on a Very vanilla panel and die cut with the Ornate Frames Dies. I then cut a length of the Fine Art Ribbon, used Stampin’ Seal across the back and adhered it on the card front. The sentiment panelm got dimensionals and attached over the ribbon. I added three Wonderful gems to tie it together.

This panel was adhered to a slightly larger piece of Merry Merlot then attached to the Pear Pizzazz card base with dimensionals.

For the inside I stamped another of the flowers from Delicate Dahlias with the same two-step method: outline stamp in Merry Merlot ink, then filler stamp in Merry merlot ink stamped off once. And the Vary Vanilla panel was added to a slightly larger Merry Merlot then into the inside of the card ~ all with liquid glue. You could certainly use Stampin’ Seal instead, I just prefer the liquid glue for wiggle room 🙂

For the very vanilla envelope, I covered the flap with Neutrals 6×6 DSP in Merry Merlot then trimmed it to fit. The front of the envelope got the same treatment of a two-step stamp: outline stamp first in Merry Merlot ink, tghen the filler stamp. And voila! I like the color combination and I love this flower! I think this stamp set would be lovely in Misty Moonlight too – an odd color for this flower, but I think I have to do one…

Stampin’ Up! Seasoned Swirls Sympathy

It’s Thursday and almost the weekend… what’s up? I hope you are safe… things have been so crazy lately. Today’s card is one of sympathy using the Seasoned Swirls Dies and Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP. Let’s take a look.

The card base is Crumb Cake with a layer of Merry Merlot card stock then a layer of Bloom Where You’re Planted – all adhered with either liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal. I then die cut two wreaths from Kraft 6×6 DSP which can be found in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog. I adhered these two together with dots of liquid glue then put mini dimensionals on the back in strategic places. I wanted to ‘dress it up’ a bit so die cut some small leaves from Be Dazzled 6×6 DSP (a FREE item during Sale-a-bration), also from the Seasoned Swirls Dies, and adhered those with dots of liquid glue. I trimmed down some Metallic Ribbon (Cherry Cobbler & Gold), made a bow and attached it with a glue dot.I then added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels for more sparkle – and really liked the look!

I stamped the sentiment from Inspired Thought stamp set in Merry Merlot ink on a Basic White strip and die cut it with the Messages Die. I cut another strip of Merry Merlot card stock and added the sentiment panel to it with dimensionals. The banner was added to the card front with liquid glue. Finally I added three more of the Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and was done with the front.

For the inside I kept it pretty simple – a sentiment from Inspired Thoughts stamped in Merry Merlot ink on a Basic White panel. This was attached to a Merry Merlot piece then added to the inside of the card. Finis!

For the envelope I did nothing more than add Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP to the flap and trimmed it to fit. And that was it.

Stampin’ Up! Christmas To Remember and Majestic Mountain

Wow ~ it is Sep 1!!! I can’t believe it… where DID the summer go? Are your kids ready for school? And wonder what school is going to look like? Nearly everywhere I go folks are wearing masks again… and I don’t go a lot of places: grocery store, Costco, church, like that. I haven’t been “shopping” in quite a while. And then there’s Ida – a really big hurricane.; and Afghanistan… ugh… my heart does ache for all these people & the situations of the world. Sending up prayers of comfort, peace, resolution, patience ~ you get it. I think most of you are with me on this.

OK ~ today’s card 😜. Let me tell you what I did… I went looking in the Jul-Dec 2021 Mini Catalog for a bit of inspiration, and found it! The DSP used here is Peaceful Place SDSP. It is gorgeous! I also used Majestic Mountain Dies and the Christmas To Remember stamp set. That’s why this post is called Mixing & Matching :)

Crumb Cake card stock is the card base. I adhered a panel of Peaceful Place DSP to Basic Gray card stock and wrapped it twice around with Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack – basically the Black & White Bakers Twine, and tied a bow. I mounted these two to the card base with dimensionals. I pulled out another panel of the Peaceful Place DSP, die cut two trees using the Majestic Mountain Dies. I backed one of the trees, slightly off-set, with a Basic White panel after die cutting the filigree- type tree from Majestic Mountain Dies. I adhered this die cut DSP to a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock, put dimensionals on the back and centered it over the other panels. I stamped the word ‘merry’ from the Christmas To Remember stamp set with VersaMark ink onto a Basic White scrap. I sprinkled it with silver embossing powder & heat set it. Once it was cool, I die cut with the Messages Die. (This is a big die, but I used only a scrap on which to stamp and die cut just the banner I wanted.) I added the banner to the card front with more dimesnionals. For a final touch I added two Silver Epoxy Essentials to the top of the trees ~ and the card front was done.

For the inside, I took the same stamp and stamped with VersaMark ink, the ‘merry christmas’ then sprinkle it with silver embossing powder & heat set it. I had this tree that was removed from the Peaceful Place DSP (yep, from the card front, adhered it to another tree die cut from Basic White and put it on the panel. And one more Silver Epoxy Essentials was added to the top of the tree. I adhered the Basic White panel to Basic Gray card stock then added it to the inside of the card. Voila!

For the envelope, more of the same Peaceful Place DSP was added to the envelope flap & trimmed to fit. For the front, there was this extra tree die cut from the DSP for the card front. I added it to the front of the envelope with liquid glue ~ and it was finis…

Stampin’ Up! Whimsical Trees Bundle.2

It’s Tuesday – and the week is on! A couple of days ago I posted a card with a layout that I really liked and decided to take advantage of that design. Here’s the card… and you can see the post here.

Today’s card is this… same layout but using the Whimsy & Wonder DSP as the focus.

The Designer Series Paper is adhered to Mint Macaron then popped up on dimensionals and added to the Blushing Bride card base. I then die cut a banner in Mossy Meadow card stock using the Potted Succulents Dies. I used Seal+ on the back of the banner to twist around some of the Silver cord in the Simply Elegant Trim, then added dimensionals to that and put it on the card front. I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink on a piece of Blushing Bride card stock and die cut it with another of the dies in the Potted Succulents Dies. This strip also got dimensionals then centered on the Mossy Meadow banner ~ and the card front was done.

For the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Whimsical Trees stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink on a piece of Blushing Bride, die cut it with the Potted Succulents Dies and added it to the Basic White panel. I already had on my desk these two trees, stamped & die cut from the Whimsical Trees stamp set & Christmas Trees Dies (Mossy Meadow ink), so adhered them to the panel too. This was added to another panel of Mint Macaron card stock then into the card ~ and voila!

For the envelope I added the Whimsy & Wonder DSP to the envelope flap and trimmed it to fit. On the front I stamped the holly flourish from Whimsical Trees stamp set in VersaMark ink, then sprinkled it with silver embossing powder & heat set it. I colored it with markers… Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride. In retrospect, the banner on the card front should have been done the same – VersaMark then silver embossing powder – I just may have to change that! For now – this is it though… Funny how things look so different in a photo and I can see how it should be changed. :] This DSP is just stunning. And this is the first I have used the holly flourish – it’s stunning and very clear in the embossing powder.

Stampion’ Up! Tidings and Trimmings Bundle

Good Sunday morning to you! Today’s card is a bit on the monochromatic side using Soft Succulent. This is such a pretty shade of green… I just may have gone too far with it.

from I really like the look of the Stitched Greenery Die. I used a full 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 panel of Soft Succulent card stock to run it through the die cut machine, then adhered it directly to the Soft Succulent card base. I then took another piece of Soft Succulent card stock, stamped it in Versamark ink using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set, sprinkled it with White embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. I die cut it with the Picture This Dies, put it on dimensionals and added it to the card front. Gold Holly Leaves – a stunning embellishment, were added with mini dimensionals, then Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels were placed on the sentiment panel. I had in my stash, this super cute stocking, stamped on Basic White card stock with Soft Succulent ink (Tidings & Trimmings), then die cut with the Christmas Trimmings Dies. I added this to the card with dimensionals, then tied a bow with the Simply Elegant Trim in Gold and added it with a glue dot. I thought the stocking could use a bit of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels, so did that too.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Tidings & Trimmings stamp set in Soft Succulent, then added another of the Gold Holly Leaves with liquid glue, then one single Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The Basic White panel was added to the inside of the card with liquid glue – and finis… the card was done.

For the Basic White Medium Envelope, I ran the flap through the Stitched Greenery Embossing Folder by folding the rest of the envelope over the die. Looks great doesn’t it? I love how it coordinates the card & envelope! For the front of the card, I stamped the stocking in soft Succulent ink, stamping off first – and yes, using the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set.

I really like the simplicity of this layout – and it can be done in so many ways: DSP in lieu of the die cut background, of course various sentiments and different embellishments. I really want to play with this layout more!
