Stampin’ Up! Abstract Beauty DSP B’day

Hello Folks! I’ve been knocked sideways by a cold – slept nearly all of Sunday. Made a card for Monday’s post on Monday… here it is almost 4 PM on Monday – so it will go out properly Tuesday morning. 🙂

Abstract Beauty DSP B’day.1

I happen to love plaids and sometimes some of the ‘other sides’ of designer series papers are more appealing to me. The flower patterns are pretty, but this pattern really struck me. This is 4×6 paper to begin with, so I cut it down to 4 x 5 1/4, adhered a Basic White panel to the back for strength then used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to do the work. I used the 4th &n 5th rectangles to cut the plaid panels and saved the border that was removed. You’ll see why soon enough. I stamped the sentiment on a Basic White scrap with balmy Blue ink using the new Artfully Layered stamp set and die cut it with another of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. At this point I adhered the plaid pieces by putting dimensionals on the back and attaching them to a Just Jade card front. The card needed something else. Since I had this new stamp set out, I also pulled the coordinating dies: Tropical Layers Dies and some Pear Pizzazz scrap and cut this fine frond. I adhered it right on the plaid front with dabs of liquid glue, and added all the little die cut pieces too and liked it. The sentiment panel got more dimensionals and was added on. Voila – love the look.

Remember, I saved that plaid piece that was removed when I die cut the rectangles. Here’s what I did with it.

I adhered the left-over piece to a panel of Basic White, then stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue ink. And done… The best part, this could so easily be a masculine card ~ and it’s going to be! I have a twin brother and our birthday is in February, this is for him :O) And since he doesn’t read my blog, I can share it early 👍

The envelope… I used another of the Abstract Beauty 4×6 DSP pieces for the envelope flap; adhered & trimmed to fit. For the front I stamped this interesting word stamp from the Artfully Layered stamp set in Balmy Blue ink.
