Stampin’ Yp! Dahlia Days

Happy Sunday! I’ve been “under the weather” of late ~ substantial cold, and it’s taken a wee bit out of me… I played in my craft room yesterday and made this super feminine card for a friend of mine. She brought hubby and me a cake & a container of whipped cream cheese – yum. And when one isn’t feeling their best, there’s simply nothing like a hot tea & cake to the rescue. Makes me feel better just because of her gesture. So today’s card is for her.

Dahlia Days.1

It begins with a Basic White Thick card base with a layer of Gorgeous Grape just a wee smaller adhered to the card front, then this Marbelous 6×6 DSP (FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order ~ this one is a mix of colors: Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape) adhered to that, and just a wee bit smaller still. I added a small strip of Fresh Freesia card stock just for a highlight. I die cut the gorgeous overlay from Basic White card stock and attached it with dabs of liquid glue. You COULD adhere an adhesive sheet to the basic white panel so it wouldn’t need glue, but I didn’t do that here. I added several Pastel Pearls in Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape, then a few Metallic Pearls in silver. The final touch is this wonderful bow using the Open Weave Ribbon in Fresh Freesia. The more I look at this, the more I like it.

Dahlia Days, inside

For the inside, I stamped this beautiful image of a dahlia bouquet with the lines on a Basic white panel. This is really meant for a tag, ‘cuz there’s a die cut for it, but I wanted to use it this way today. :O) It was stamped in Highland Heather ink. The words come from the Dahlia Days stamp set as well and they are stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink. I mounted this with liquid glue to another panel of Gorgeous Grape card stock then right into the card. And the card was done!

This particular stamp set is a Distinctive stamp, which indicates it has more ‘layers’ in the stamp, giving it more dimension. It shows more clearly on the envelope – let’s take a look.

Envelope front: Dahlia Days

The imagery just makes this dahlia seem almost real – as though you could reach out and touch it. Above is my envelope front, and for the flap, I covered it in more of the Marbelous 6×6 DSP :O)
