Stampin’ Up! In Bloom

Today’s card is made using the Sweet Symmetry DSP as the focal point, the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder in the background and a fun flower from the In Bloom bundle.

In Bloom w/ Sweet Symmetry DSP

What a fun combination of colors on this card: Calypso Coral, Pale Papaya, Basic White and just a hint of Soft Succulent.

  • Cut a piece of the Sweet Symmetry DSP with the largest Stitched So Sweetly Dies and mount on a panel of Basic White just slightly larger (3 x 4 3/16) with liquid glue. You can of course use Stampin’ Seal, but I like the ‘wiggle room’ the liquid glue provides.
  • Cut a piece of Calypso Coral (3 3/4 x 5) and run it through the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder. Mount this on a panel of Basic White (3 7/8 x 5 1/8).
  • Pale Papaya is the card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). Adhere the Calypso Coral panel to this base with dimensionals. Mount the the DSP panel with dimensionals to the embossed piece.
  • Create the flower: die cut pieces using the Pierced Bloom Dies – Pale Papaya for the flower, Calypso Coral for the center, Soft Succulent for the leaves. The smaller petals are attached with a mini dimensional to the larger petals, the center is adhered with liquid glue. The leaves are adhered to the back of the large flower with dabs of liquid glue and the flower is added to the card front with dimensionals. Lots of layers on this card!
  • Stamp the sentiment from the In Bloom stamp set in Basic Gray ink on a strip of Basic White (9/16 x 3) Adhere to a strip of Calypso Coral (5/8 x 3). Add a dimensional at the end of the sent and liquid glue to the rest – slip under the flower. Trim excess length from the strip.
  • Add three Genial Gems to the card front and call the front done!
In Bloom, inside

For the inside…

  • Stamp the top flowers on a panel of Basic White (3 3/4 x 5) with stamped off once Pale Papaya ink. Stamp the lower flower without stamping off.
  • Create a template for the flower by stamping on a piece of post-it note and fussy cutting it. (I made a BIG mistake here by creating the template in card stock and you can see the leaves did not stamp up to the edge of the flower 😦 Place the template on the stamped flowers to stamp the leaves in Soft Succulent ink. Stamp the flower centers in Calypso Coral ink.
  • Adhere this panel to a piece of Calypso Coral 3 7/8 x 5 1/8), then onto0 the inside of the card. Voila!
In Bloom w/ Sweet Symmetry DSP

For the envelope I embossed a panel of Pale Papaya card stock with the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder then adhered it to the envelope flap, trimmed to fit. The front got the same process as the inside of the card creating the flower: Pale Papaya ink, stamped off once for the flower, then Calypso Coral ink stamped off for the flower center.

Fun, bright, cheery card that could be used for birthday or – as is the case for this card – college graduation. WooHoo, way to go Friend!

Stampin’ Up! In Bloom Accordion Card

Hello again! Tues I held a card class here at our home. The group is anxious to do ‘fun folds’ so we did this accordion card and I really like how it turned out. I decorated it after class, as we also looked through the new catalog and did a “tour” just oohing and ahhing over new products. My preorder had also arrived so I shared the few cards I had made at that point and we played a bit with new products. It was a perfect opportunity to share.

Today’s card…

As you can see in the photo above, I used more of the Boho Indigo DSP (cuz I love it and it’s retiring) but I paired it with the In Bloom bundle (Pierced Bloom Dies) from the Jan – Jun Mini Catalog (and it’s carrying over!) This is a thick card, so not one I would probably mail. This would go in a gift package or hand delivered. Let’s take a peek when it opened.

In Bloom Accordion Card

Isn’t this fun and showy and well, just wonderful?! You could do more embellishment but I wanted the DSPn to be the primary focus so only die cut/ stamped a few of the flowers from the In Bloom bundle. Let me see if I can walk you through how to create this fun card.

  • Three pieces of card stock cut 8″ square.
  • Score each piece in half (at 4″), turn and score in half again (also 4″), then score on the diagonal (from point to point) in only one direction.
  • Score all folds and burnish well. On the diagonal side, burnish the fold first folding in, then folding out.
  • Lay the squares on the diagonal in front of you and adhere the un-scored panels together so there is one long panel. (That’s only two squares adhered!)
  • Now gently fold and close so the folds are mountain, valley, then mountain again. Refer to the photo above. This is by far the trickiest part. If you find it too difficult, go to Pinterest or You Tube and do a search. Once you get it, you GET IT!
  • Now decorate…
    • Cut 9 pieces of DSP 3 3/4″ square
    • Determine your front panel and adhere it first.
    • Now move the remaining pieces around to where you like the color form and design, leaving the two flat areas for your sentiment panels.
    • Those pieces that will be on a folded panel should be folded and scored before adhering. They simply go together better.
    • Adhere all panels but the two sentiment panels, which you have not prepared yet 🙂 I nearly always use liquid glue as I prefer the wiggle room. But if you prefer Stampin’ Seal, use that.
  • Prepare two panels for your sentiment pieces: Very vanilla for this card – 3 3/4″ square, and decorate.
    • I used Night of Navy ink for the sentiment from In Bloom stamp set
    • Stamp a few of the flowers in stamped off Melon Mambo ink and add 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots in Bumblebee for the small flower centers. For the two larger flowers I stamped the dots in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • Decorate the DSP panels as desired: I used the Pieced Blooms Dies to cut several Melon Mambo flowers and also Vary Vanilla flowers as well for nice coordination.
    • I adhered the Very Vanilla flower centers with liquid glue, then the larger flowers with a mini dimensional to the DSP.
  • Prepare the belly band: 1 x 10; carefully fold around the closed card, securing in front with Tear & Tape of Seal+ (you want this to hold well!). This should not be too snug a fit as you want it to slide on and off the card easily.
    • Decorate the Belly Band: stamp the sentiment (I used the In Bloom stamp set) in Night of Navy ink on a Very Vanilla panel. Die cut using the very nice banner in the Pierced Blooms Dies and adhere with dimensionals to the belly band. Using remaining die cut flowers from the Melon Mambo card stock, adhere these to the sentiment panel and the card is done & ready to give. 😊

Not so hard, was it? And so fun!

    Stampin’ Up! In Bloom

Hello! How is everyone today? It’s Thursday and going to be very windy and cold. When we walk the dog we will need to be quite bundled – and may even put the doggy coat on our Springer. He isn’t used to it as the winter has been extremely mild, but he seems to like it. We’ll decide when it becomes daylight :O)

Todays card was made with the extra fun NEW Pierced Bloom Dies that is bundled with the In Blooms stamp set. It also allowed me to die cut flowers from the FREE with a $50 purchase Paper Blooms DSP. Of course, that FREE is only during Sale-a-bration which goes through the end of February. Just sayin ‘… The card ~

    In Bloom #1

Every single flower and leaf was die cut from the Paper Blooms DSP. Isn’t that cool? The bow is as well. I’ve taken several close-ups so you can see what these dies do – they make these awesome lines, like stitching. I simply kept die cutting flowers and leaves and made a fun pile of them, using what I wanted for this card. I have a few left to play with again. What do I do with the extras? Mostly they go in a small bag and get put in either the stamp set or in with the dies – depends. I like having extras handy. Sometimes they sit in a small container on my desk waiting for inspiration. But the card… all of these were adhered to a Basic White panel . Since there were so many flowers on the panel, I adhered another layer of the Basic White card stock for added strength. I put dimensionals on the back and adhered it to a Night of Navy card base.

Can you see all the texture these dies add, making these almost ‘real’! And the bow – well, love that bow – so delicate. I’ve die cut two and layered them atop one another, just off-center a bit. I’ve also added several Iridescent Pearls. And the label is from this die set as well. It’s wonderful! The sentiment on the label comes from Tasteful Touches stamp set in the Annual Catalog. I’ve die cut two labels – Basic White and Night of Navy card stocks and layered them together with liquid glue. They sit on dimensionals as does the bow. Everything else is adhered with liquid glue.

Let’s take a look at the inside of the card.

    In Bloom – card inside

The sentiment comes from the In Bloom stamp set and is stamped in Night of Navy ink on a Basic White panel. The flowers are die cut from the Paper Blooms DSP and adhered with liquid glue. The panel was adhered to the inside of the card with liquid glue.

What do you think – isn’t this a fun card? A friend of ours has a birthday tomorrow and I will hand deliver this since she is local – yep, masked and probably just texting her to say it’s in her mailbox so we don’t come in contact. Her family is health compromised and have to be super careful.

Products for todays card are from the new Jan-Jun 2021 Mini Catalog and the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog ~ and those products are available now for purchase.
