Aug blog hop – Fall Frenzy

This month Amy’s Inkin’ Krew is doing a blog hop titled Fall Frenzy – so a fall card was created by each team member. If you have come from the blog of the amazing Jaimie, she has done a beautiful job.

This card was definitely a work in progress and while I’m not convinced it’s my best, it was still fun to do. Sponge daubers were used to create the sun and sky: Crushed Curry, Blueberry Bushel, Pumpkin Pie, even a little Flirty Flamingo. The sky is so FULL of color in real life and the idea was the beginning of a sunset.

The tree is from the wonderful Rooted In Nature stamp set and matching dies. I applied inks directly to the stamp, again using daubers: Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze along the edges of the leaves; Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz were also used for the leaves. Trees are NEVER just one color. :o) Early Espresso was used on the trunk and highlighting the branches in the tree. (I love how the branches really do show through.) After stamping the tree, it was cut out using the matching die. The branch was cut using the Seasonal Layers dies that go with Colorful Seasons stamp set. The leaf was die cut on a piece of Perennial Essence DSP, then a coordinating die cut in copper foil was adhered to that. I curled the leaves, cuz leaves are never flat.

Before placing the tree, I tore another piece of the Perennial Essence paper to create a scene of grassy hillside. The tree was placed on dimensionals, then the branch had dimensionals just on the largest part and Tombow glue was used to adhere the branch to the tree. This creates even more dimension, the larger tree in the distance, the branch in the forefront. Then I placed the leaf.

As this card was created for a gentleman friend who has had some health challenges lately, the sentiment from Rooted In Nature was used and stamped in Blueberry Bushel. The sentiment probably should have been placed above the grassy hillside, but once it was on, well, it was on.

The inside also has a stamped leaf, again using the Perennial Essence papers and the Colorful Season stamp set. Because I want to write a special note, no sentiment was used. It’s very simple. You can also see part of the envelope and the leaf adhered. That leaf is from the Nature Roots dies that coordinate with Rooted in Nature stamp set.
