Here we are in the middle of summer! Whee! Is it hot enough for you? We have been sweltering here on the East coast of the US… today another thunderstorm that kept interrupting power. Even our Springer Spaniel was a bit skeered (scared). The thunder & lightening was very near… We have survived and have Internet again :O) Thank goodness cuz I wasn’t finished with my post for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop. So here we go…
My card for the theme of summertime – anything that pertains to that.. and I chose flowers – I am that kind of woman. We are surrounded by flowers. Of course we have to be careful what we plant as there are deer that roam and eat & eat & eat. Poor things. But I get off-track. Here’s my card…
The theme is summer… do these colors shout summer? Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather & Blushing Bride for the die cut flowers – all using the Scalloped Contour Dies and the Color & Contour stamp set. The Designer Series Paper is Hand-Penned DSP (NOTE: it’s part of the Designer Series Paper Sale – 15% off for select papers, and this is one of them!). I also used on the inside, one of the papers from Pattern Party DSP, which is a HOST bonus with a $300 order.
Here’s what I did:
- cut the card base (Basic White, Thick) 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score at 4 14. Remove 1/2″ on ONE short side. This will be the front.
- Cover the front panel with Hand-Penned DSP (3 3/4 x 5 1/2)
- Stamp & die cut the flowers: Color & Contour stamp set with coordinating Scalloped Contour Dies.
- Run a panel of Basic White through the die cutting machine with Stitched Greenery Dies.
- Die cut this panel with the second largest scalloped die in the Scalloped Contour Dies.
- Adhere flowers either with dimensionals or liquid glue to the die cut panel. Let’s see… the lowest Daffodil Delight flower was adhered with liquid glue, then the Highland Heather flower with a dimensionals. The upper Daffodil Delight flower also had a dimensional. I then wrapped the panel with Baker’s Twine Essential Pack (white) that had been separated, and tied a bow (secured it with a glue dot to hold it in place).
- Adhere the scalloped panel to the card front so it overhangs the card front – with dimensionals.
- The Blushing Bride flower was actually cut in about half and adhered to the card front with liquid glue, slipping it under the scalloped panel.
- Stamp the sentiment in Memento Black ink – from Color & Contour stamp set and fussy cut. Adhere with dimensionals.
- Add three Genial Gems to flower centers. Card front is DONE!
- For the inside, adhere a piece of Pattern Party DSP to the entire panel (4 1/4 x 5 12), with liquid glue.
- Die cut another panel of Basic White with the Scalloped Contour Dies.
- Stamp the flower from the Color & Contour stamp set in Memento Black ink.
- Stamp the sentiment aslo in Memento Black ink – same stamp set,
- Add three Genial Gems to the flowers. DONE again!
- For the envelope, add a panel of Hand-Penned DSp to the envelope flap and trim to fit. Yep, liquid glue is my product of choice.
- Add the sweet leaf from the Color & contour stamp set with Memento Black ink and voila – this card is ready.
Don’t you love a handmade card? I do. It says to the recipient, ‘I care about you and thought of you while making this.” It’s special. You will not find a card like this at the dollar store. Ok, I’ll get off my soap box. Probably preaching to the wrong folks anyway :}
