Stampin’ Up! Art Gallery Fun Fold

Todays card was created for someone very special in mind. I felt they might need something cheerful – and what’s more upbeat than colorful flowers. Made with the new Art Gallery bundle, Fine Art Floral DSP and coordinating Golden Garden Designer Series Acetate. – this card says ‘have hope.’ I’m entering this in the Paper Players challenge – ‘something new’ – Paper Players 522

And here’s the card…

Art Gallery Fun Fold – #1

And here’s how it opens…

And here’s how to create this beauty…

  • The card base is Mossy Meadow 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
  • The next layer is Flirty Flamingo 4 x 7 7/8 scored at 5 1/4
  • The right tab is also Flirty Flamingo 1 x 4 1/4 scored at 1 1/4
    • Adhere the right tab to the back of the larger Flirty Flamingo, centering it on the 4″ end, with the burnished end up against the end of the paper. I actually held it in place folded so it adhered right where I wanted it and would fold over properly
  • The full Flirty Flamingo panel can now be adhered to the card base, with the scored end on the left. Refer to the photos above for reference.

Now it’s time to decorate… I cut another panel of Flirty Flamingo with the Stitched Rectangles Dies (approx. 3 x 4 3/8). To this I adhered two panels of DSP: the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate to a panel of Fine Art Floral DSP with Stampin Seal. I used Stampin Seal ‘cuz it doesn’t show through the acetate so much. Both were cut 2 3/4 x 4. These panels were attached to the stitched panel with liquid glue.

With the Flirty Flamingo fold closed and the tab open to the right, adhere the decorated panel to the fold, centering it. Be certain to use liquid glue only on the left portion of the panel being attached!

Now let’s decorate the tab… I stamped the background of the flower from the Art Gallery stamp set in Petal Pink ink on a Basic White scrap. I then stamped the filler for the flower in Poppy Parade. I did this twice to create an inside and outside flower for the tab. I then colored the inner part of the flower with Light Mango Melody Stampin Blends and created the little dots with the Basic Black Marker. These two touches really make the flower look ‘real’. I then ran a scrap of Petal Pink card stock through the Subtle Embossing Folder and die cut that with the stitched Shapes Dies – obviously a circle… that was only slightly larger than the flower. I adhered each circle to the tab, both inside & out so they fit together perfectly. The inside flower was adhered to the inside circle with liquid glue. The flower for the front of the tab was adhered with dimensionals. I then took Wink of Stella and highlighted only the Poppy Parade areas on the flower. If you try to do more than that, it will smear – so do this carefully and with intention.

For the inside of the card I stamped a panel of Basic White card stock 2 3/4 x 4 first with the sentiment in Memento Black ink, masking off the the word ‘I’m’. I then stamped with Petal Pink ink and the smaller flower from the Art Gallery stamp set. Next was stamping the Poppy Parade filler part of the flower. Again I added little back dots to make the flower more three-dimensional and real-looking. This panel was adhered to the inside of the card with liquid glue, making certain it couldn’t be seen when the card was closed (that’s another reason it’s a smaller panel!) And the card was done…

For the envelope I adhered a coordinating panel of the Fine Art Gallery DSP to the flap, then stamped the front of the card with a single small flower as done on the inside of the card: first in Petal Pink ink then Poppy Parade, then little black dots.

I really like how the stamped flowers turned out. The addition of the yellow and black really makes this flower come to life. What I would do differently… I would add an additional layer of DSP on the front left panel and on the inside of the card, and maybe on the tab as well. Somehow I think it needs that. Guess I have to do another card! 👍
